Fuji Japanese Cuisine in NJ is an absolute culinary treasure! I visited my friend who lives in NJ and he recommended this place right away. Although it's located in the back of the Main Street that place had lines of people waiting to get in. Due to last minute call we didn't have reservation either. But the hostess was kind enough to assist us right away. We waited only for 12 minutes up until the time we were seated. The menu offers a perfect balance of traditional Japanese dishes and innovative creations. Their sushi is incredibly fresh and expertly prepared, with each roll being a work of art. We started with the tuna dumpling and we continued by ordering 8 different rolls. The attention to detail in presentation and taste is outstanding. The staff is warm and attentive. Whether you're here for a casual dinner, a special celebration, or just craving authentic Japanese cuisine, Fuji never disappoints. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a great dining experience!

Vibes: busy Japanese BYOB complete with scent of soy sauce; bring a date or the family Tasting notes: Hamachi collar: perfectly broiled; tender, sweet meat; comes with yummy citrusy soy-based dipping sauce; a light appetizer Negima beef appetizer: served warm; six bite-sized pieces; meat was excellent in cut and not too salty Crazy Horse: thick pieces of fish inside and out; absolutely loved the ikura, very fresh; each sushi piece was quite large Kiss Fire: despite the generous slices of jalapeño, good spiciness level so as not to overwhelm the taste of the fish Oh My God: creamy crab interior; great texture from tobiko Other thoughts: - very expansive roll menu - sushi order served on same plate, so it took about a half an hour from placing the order to get the food on the table - appreciated having regular and low sodium soy sauce at the table - recommend making a reservation on the weekend as the restaurant is fairly small but very popular Impression: very happy to be a stone's throw distance away from this lovely sushi restaurant!

Fuji offers impossibly fresh fish, all simply and beautifully presented. Their offering were more traditional in years past, but they now offer more Americanized rolls to accommodate local preferences. The adventurous diner, however, can find more obscure choices, such as the live scallop, sea bream, amberjack, and walu. I cannot dine here and not get the crispy salmon skin hand roll. The service is always attentive and quick. The restaurant itself is a minimalist treasure: small, intimate, and quiet. Bring your own sake, wine, or beer.

Tried Fuji on the suggestion of a friend and Sushi lover. Other then the ambiance of the place needing a little pick me up, I thought the Sushi was fresh, well portioned and nicely presented. Service was what to be expected and the restaurant is located in a cozy little shopping area with plenty of parking. I enjoyed the octopus (Tako Salad) and and was pleasantly surprised by our tuna dumpling. Quite a few chef specialty rolls offered and a menu that does not fall short on entree selections.

Lucky for me, a friend had brought me to this place for dinner. And honestly it was so good that I went the next night with my partner. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very appealing, it had dim lights that weren't too dark, soft instrumental music, and lots of japanese artwork and aesthetics. If you're looking for a nice date spot this is it!! The servers here were so friendly and super attentive to us and whatever we needed. We ordered the renko (lotus) chips which were awesome, they were fried and covered in this seasoning (honestly it tasted just like potato so extra points for that). The karaage chicken wings came in a vinegar sauce, they were not bad, but I would probably skip on next time. Also got to try their takoyaki which was good, but nothing crazy, but still enjoyable because I love takoyaki. The hotpot dish consisted of thinner sliced beef, vegetables, and noodles, however I thought the beef was a little tough, and the broth was sweet which threw me off. Ordered nigiri sushi, an assortment of salmon, yellow tail, amberjack, medium fatty tuna, eel, uni. All super yummy, the quality of the fish was super fresh and the fish to rice ratio was *chef's kiss*. A big must try is the hamachi kama (Yellowtail collar). This was a first time for me and WOW it blew me away. The flavor of the salt broiled fish was just so decadent and flavorful, the cut of fish was perfect. Will definitely be ordering again! If you're in the haddonfield area and craving some really good quality sushi, I recommend you come check this place out!

This update is one that is written out of delightful confusion, seeing as I've never had cuisine from any Pacific Rim country that included lamb. Ladies and gents, the lamb chops at Fuji are excellent! The notes of ginger and mustard add enjoyment to an already exemplary cut of protein. I absolutely recommend!

I am always craving sushi and is always down for Japanese food! I came across this restaurant on yelp and it's has a good selection of sushi so I decided to try it. I ordered the tuna dumpling for the appetizer. It was ok. The dumpling is bigger compared to other places I had them but the filling inside is not my favorite. I had better. For the rest of the food, I had sushi deluxe I believe. It comes with chef choice sushi pieces and tuna roll. It was good. The fish quality was good. Also ordered toro and sweet shrimp sushi. Very delicious. I also got a specialty roll and salmon rolls. They were good as well. My favorite dishes were the custard steamed egg and the steak entree that the meat was cooked on the hot stone. Very unique and not much restaurant has these two food options on their menu. The food came out at a reasonable time. I didn't wait long and the service was good. Overall a good atmosphere and food were delicious.

We went on a Saturday night, it was relatively quiet and had a very peaceful, fancy ambiance. Definitely a date night place. Everything was delicious and top notch quality. The employees were attentive and friendly. I remember trying the Edamame, Seaweed Salad, Karaage Chicken Wings, Queen Roll, Vicki Esq Roll, Peace Roll and a few other rolls my friends had but can't remember the name. All delicious and would recommended. If there was one minor suggestion I could make, I would say to put the sauce of the Karaage Chicken Wings on the side and not pooled on the bottom of the plate. There is metered street parking. Fuji is located in a building with a few other businesses. 5/5

Lunch at Fuji the 2 roll special and bento box 4. Great lunch as always.

Enoki and egg soup is my favorite appetizer. Light broth with umami and perfect saltiness. My second favorite appetizer is agedashi tofu. So silky like pudding with light teriyaki broth. Beef roll up with scallions: beef is tender with some kind of sweet teriyaki sauce. It's pretty good. Eggplant filled with ground chicken. It looks appealing but unfortunately a bit too greasy. The sushi here is very special. The sushi rice is silky and moist. The fish piece is bigger than the rice. The eel is a must try here. It's very big compared to the rice underneath it. It very flavorful too. Mt entree is steamed salmon with seafood broth. I recommend squirting the lemon to the broth to make it taste like yuzu sauce as it lightens the whole dish and makes it less fishy.

PRO: I will say, if you want a place where you can sit and have a conversation, dark mood lighting (especially forgiving if the last time you saw each other alot was 20 years ago! - LOL), Sagami is an excellent choice. PRO: They don't rush you out - take your time. It was a Thursday night, so not especially busy when we came at 6:30 PM. CON: I could not find an updated menu online - I'm one of those people who like to peruse a menu in advance. I started with a vegetable tempura appetizer ($10) - excellent, light, airy, tasty. My main was the dragon roll - very tasty. Service was quite nice. Appetizers came out almost immediately, the rolls took a lot longer to get to our table. This is the kind of place where you're not paying to fill up your belly - but if you do, expect to shell out some bucks.

(If you've never had it, it's a sweet squash and it's delicious and you should definitely try it!) We started with the salmon skin salad which was so unique! It has all our favorites! Salmon skin (obviously) kani, seaweed salad, and caviar. We got the sauce on the side because we were worried it would be too spicy, but it was delicious! It was still good that it was on the side so I could control how much I used. Next we shared the kampyo (or is it kanpyo? I can never remember) roll and a mackerel and tamago roll (not on the menu but they made a great one and you should try that too!) Finally we shared tofu teriyaki. They served SIX huge pieces of tofu (probably an entire brick of tofu) The sauce was delicious and it came with onions and veggies. If I had to nitpick, the veggies could be cut a little smaller but no complaints over all. We are taking most of the tofu home. The service was great. Our server was polite and professional. I didn't even have to ask for fresh plates between the sushi and the tofu. As for atmosphere, it's a little dark but they play great music (lots of '80's!). The music is soft and not obtrusive. We will definitely be back!

I'm also gluten free and I trust Japanese food to be gluten free sans soy sauce. Overall, not bad. Price wise, it was decent especially for lunch specials, but still higher than what I'm used to (you're on a Main Street, so that's expected). As appetizers, you get a salad and soup as usual for lunch specials. The miso soup was quite salty in my opinion and had to make up by drinking lots of water (whew!) The salad dressing tasted different than Japanese house dressings that I'm used to (could be a good thing could be a bad thing depending if you like the typical or not?) I got the sashimi lunch, which wasn't bad at all. They gave a good amount, and the fish tasted fresh, but the rice ratio to fish was wildly unbalanced. They gave what seemed like 2 cups of rice. Again, could be a good thing could be a bad thing depending on what you're looking for. I'm not keto, but I do better on low carb so it was pretty tempting to eat all the rice. We were the only ones there, so service was pretty good. I will say, the lady serving us didn't seem so happy at her job which is always a turn off for me, but I wish her the best. Note: if it's cold and snowy outside, be sure to close both doors behind you. We got yelled at because we didn't ensure the door closed all the way (sorry!)
