This is such a great hole in the wall place! It's in a tiny plaza that I've driven past so many times and so glad one day I searched and found this place. Plenty of seating inside it wasnt crowded though a lot of people came for order pickup which was a good sign about the food. I only tried their sushi and dessert and it was amazing. I'll definitely be back. The waitress was so nice to offer suggestions and I told her which specialty rolls interested me but I can't eat spicy food and she made them mild for me. Who does that?! And I loved the roll it was the "Second Wife" roll (yellowtail, mango, jalapeño). I also tried the Trifecta their best seller (spicy tuna, albacore, white tuna) - this was spicy so if you love spicy definitely get this. My favorite Eel Cucumber such a classic and it hit the spot. They also have ramen but I didn't see any vegetarian ramen but the other sounds good. red bean mochi was delicious! Since it's in a plaza plenty of parking too. There aren't enough kind things to say about the establishment! First off, the family that owns it is absolutely wonderful! They offer impeccable and kind service! They recognize me and my fiance when we order on the phone and when we dine in (I don't eat fish eggs and never have to ask anymore). The dishes are amazing, fish is fresh and my favorite is their Tuna Poke which I have yet to find any other restaurants that make it nearly as good as Zushi Dozo! We both love every single one of their specialty rolls and their kitchen food is amazing as well! Definitely recommend! read more

Great little place. Seems to be family run where the server and chef are easily available. Very accommodating to our dietary needs and made a special dish for my wife who has some pretty severe dietary restrictions. All 4 of us had excellent meals with personal service in a very casual atmosphere. They aren't licensed to serve alcohol so we brought our own, which we consider a plus. read more

Stopped in yesterday for a quick lunch. Small family run establishment that I would consider a total hidden gem. We ordered the miso soup, house salad w/ ginger dressing, butterfly shrimp with a spicy honey sriracha aoili, and crunch spicy tuna sandwich. Everything tasted super fresh and I love how they didn't skimp on the spice! The portions were perfect for sharing (2 of us) we were plenty full and the bill was under $50. We saw that they were doing curb side delivery tonite and were overly impressed with the customer service and quality of food. As you pull into the parking lot, the cutest little girl comes out to ask your name. After a lil wait, she brings out the receipt to sign, all while wearing gloves and a mask. The staff that brought out the food did so way ahead of when they told us it would be ready - customer service is 51% of the experience for me and this was a home run. When we got home, our experience got even better with the food. Everything was plentiful and just as we thought it would be. I got such a neat roll I've never seen anywhere else called the Hi-There Roll. It came with shrimp tempura and mango inside, topped with avocado and tuna (i think, cant quite remember). It was fantastic. My sister got just a shrimp tempura roll. Hers kind of fell apart while she was eating it. That was kind of a pain because the rolls are huge but good problems I guess. The rolls came out fast too the place wasn't too busy since it was a Sunday afternoon. Definitely going to give this place another try. The ambiance was a bit "pizza shop" but the sushi itself was good. Fortunately for us, this area has a lot of good sushi options and, thanks to that, I have gotten used to that nice Japanese restaurant feel. Waking in and looking around, I immediately thought that the food must be stellar to warrant the high reviews. I ordered a few rolls (tuna, salmon) and the edamame. I enjoyed them all, but only about as much as the other places I frequent. First time placing an order and I stated it at the beggining of the conversation that it was my first time ordering, so clearly there will be questions asked for clarification of what order will I be placing. I already sensed the person's tone of voice quite with an attitude but assumed she was probably in a bad mood so just ignored it and kept asking questions. Like I said---- it was my first time ordering from the place. I had to hang up to look at the menu quick and said I will call back in like 5 to 10 mins before 7:30pm which was their last call to place an order and after saying so, no acknowledgement or whatsoever, not even an "okay" from her and she just hang up on me. That alone gave a very bad impression! I went ahead, call back and still decided to place an order to satisfy my sushi craving and not let anything ruin my appetite. I was expecting the attitude will be different the next time I call but boy was I wrong!!! The manner and tone of voice sounded irritated and straight up rude! I could not help but ask why was she giving the customer that kind of attitude then she tried to flip it around and acussed me as the one giving an attitude instead! I cancelled the order and just hang up and gave the same kind of attitude she gave me the first time I called. I asked my husband to call back the place and look for the manager because I can't take another encounter with a rude person. My husband called, look for the manger and to our surprise, the manager and the person I spoke with are the same and she named herself Grace. THE UNPROFESSIONALISM OF THIS PERSON WAS UNBELIEVABLE considering the fact she is the manager! I haven't tried their food yet that looks good in the picture so I can't say anything about it but with that kind of service this business will lose customers, for sure! I think I found my sushi place for now on. I drove by this place and googled it and saw it had good reviews, so I gave it a try. It's a very small restaurant so I wouldn't recommend going on a weekend without a reservation. They have fried chicken, sushi, actual entrees and even soup. Their menu is extensive, which is great. I tried the fried chicken and it was like a tempura chicken, but it was phenomenal. Highly recommended. My fiancée had the soup and she loved it. We even joked that when she's sick I'll have to go there and get it for her. The sushi is high quality and super fresh. We then split fried ice cream. It was basically tempura ice cream. Couldn't decide where to go after my doctors visit. I've wanted to get Korean but came here instead. The server didn't seem all too excited but then it was empty at 4:30 3/20/19 and not forthcoming when I asked what'd she'd recommend but she did say the ramen was good lol. I missed the lunch special by 90 and I think maybe the girls shift was over since I saw her when she dropped off the menu, took the order dropped off food and then never saw her again to even check up on me lol. After I was basically done the chef came over to fill my water and give me the check. I started with the shrimp shumai dumplings which I for some reason thought would be fried but it wasn't. Small bites. The miso soup was good but it's been awhile. I went with the Shrimp tempura roll, the crunchy tuna sandwich and the lobster roll all of which came to around $43.72. The tuna sandwich roll was the least fave of the 3 but I did like the lobster roll or maybe it was the shrimp tempura. Since I'm not out this way often I don't know when I'll be back but would maybe come to try the ramen and some of the other sushi rolls read more

Zushi Dozo is a small Japanese restaurant in a strip mall on Route 70. It is located near the intersection of Springdale Roads. They have been open now since September or a little over 2 months. This review is for lunch and my wife and I both ordered the Bento box so I can't comment on the sushi either. The Bento boxes came with Miso soup, salad, dumplings, cucumber/avocado rolls and the protein. My wife had the Teriyaki Salmon and I had the Kalbe beef. Both our Bento boxes were excellent. The Miso soup was very good and all of the ingredients tasted extremely fresh. I really liked the Kalbe beef; it was melt in your mouth tender and had great flavors. The salmon was very good also with an excellent slightly sweet Teriyaki sauce but the knock out for us was the Kalbe. The Bento box is $12.00 and is pretty standard portion size for this type of lunch box. Service was a little but slow because of the take out orders and small staff but still attentive. The space itself is very simple but clean. Zushi Dozo is a nice addition to the ever growing Asian restaurants in the area. Solid 3.5-4 stars. read more

Someone in the South Jersey Food Scene FB Group recommended Zushi Dozo. We visited tonight for Valentine's Day. It surpassed our expectations and is now our new favorite sushi place! It is definitely on par with Megu for sushi. There are lots of items on their menu you won't find elsewhere. We ordered the Beef Negi-Maki, Trifecta Roll, Second Wife, and Stuffed Bamboo Roll (mostly avocado and so amazing when you eat it with wasabi). Really delicious! If I reviewed the ramen broth alone - it's easily 5 stars. Seriously some of the best noodles and broth I've ever had. I'm extremely picky with how I like the actual noodle consistency/firmness in ramen, and they nailed it 100%. My girlfriend and I had the spicy chicken ramen, and the spicy pork ramen with miso. Meat wise I'd say definitely go with pork as it complements the ramen more. The chicken was kind of like pieces of grilled chicken, which although tasty, I felt like didn't work with the ramen as much. I was hoping it would be more of a thinly sliced and roasted chicken. Honestly though, I'd be more than okay eating the spicy ramen without any meat at all based on how much I liked the flavors. Also it should be noted that the spicy ramen comes in different heat levels based on preference (i.e. 1-5). We tried the 1 and the 3 - both of which weren't too spicy. If you like a bit of an actual kick I'd say go with a 3. The spice does just enough where it doesn't take away from the flavors or make you sweat profusely.. In regard to the actual restaurant itself, it's a very quaint space but I didn't mind it at all. The service was really good as well, as our sever (possibly owner?) seemed very personable to all of the diners. read more

Trifecta Rolls!!! Yes yes yes!!! Just what I exactly needed..it was fresh, and delicious! The genmaicha tea is what I've been looking for! I went in with my twins to try this place out and of course they each have their own opinions when it comes to food...one love sushi and one not so much..I love that this place have so much more selection in their menu compare to most sushi places we've been to...so the twins ended up being super happy with their meals and me as well. This is my new local sushi spot! I've been here twice now, and have gotten the same thing both times as an entrée because it's just so good! I am a big fan of sashimi so I got their sashimi lover entrée which is enough food to get me full and then of course I have to add the 1/2 portion of udon which I could swim in the broth it's so delicious and comforting. The first time I was there I also ordered the tempura ice cream, was I already full to begin with of course, but was it worth every bite, of course! My husband has gotten their popcorn chicken appetizer, dumplings, and some of their rolls which he all loved too. Oh did I mention that it's BYOB? Perfect for a low-key Friday date night. I love this sushi spot! I would recommend the lava roll. A little pricy ($15) but worth it because they have scallops on top of them and if you want quality, you must pay for quality! I always get the veggie udon soup and I like spice in my soup so you can ask for the flakes on the side to make it spicer if you would like. This is my top two go to spots for sushi. My top three would be here (Zushi Dozo), sagami sushi restaurant on route 130 by collingswood, and bubble fish in China town philly. I was impressed by the flavors and was not disappointed. Let me say that my girlfriend and I have been coming here for the last few years and we love it! We had to slow down on eating out due to COVID for a while. Out of curiosity I looked at the reviews and everybody needs to ignore the bad reviews, they are awesome and amazing people here! It is a family run business and the owners and their kids always make it an enjoyable experience for us! The owners are very accommodating and if you have questions or concerns, just ask and don't be a jerk hiding behind your keyboards after the fact. The ramen, spicy shrimp, is amazing!! Their sushi is fresh and delicious and you cannot get enough! Not only is it fresh and delicious but the presentation is beautiful!
