cucumber avocado roll

me and my sister love their clear hibachi soup! I would literally buy it by the gallon if I could. and we get cucumber avocado rolls. it's not technically on the menu but they make them anyways and they are good! they have many other vegetarian options we just prefer our cucumber avocado combo.

We found this place via Yelp search. Nice place with good food and drinks! Will come back to try other dishes.. Great service.

This place is a straight VIBE. My mom brought my brother and I here to eat, and EVERYTHING was so good. The owners/staff are extremely friendly and welcoming, and the food is to die for. Literally everythingggg was so good, and the sushi and sashimi was so fresh. Living in Seattle and having super fresh seafood everywhere, it's hard to compare places on the East Coast, but Yokohama is IT and its LIT. If you're craving GREAT Sushi or Sashimi, Yokohama is your one stop shop. They have it all, drinks, apps, desserts, literally everything here was so good.

Sushi Deluxe

I have been coming here for years and they consistently have excellent food, fresh sushi and great service. Highly recommend.

Ambience was good. The food used to be better and the service is not as it used to be.

Dinner with one of my old college friends on a Saturday night! This was definitely a better and less costly choice overall vs. similar restaurants in Cherry Hill..where we drove from! We started off with Edamame (well seasoned and tender) and Shrimp & Vegetable Tempura (just the right amount of breading and nice portions to share!) Next time, I'll have to try the Soft Shell Crab appetizer - deep fried with ponzu sauce! The waiter was fine - not overly friendly, but helpful enough. Next up was the free regular sushi roll (6 pieces) that I got just for checking in on Yelp when we were inside! A very nice touch and unique since I've never heard of freebies for checking in before..lol. Cooked shrimp sushi roll which was fresh and tasty! Then it was time for entrees and drinks! I ordered the Godzilla roll and the Sakura Roll (recommended by the waiter - Shrimp tempura, avocado with spicy crab meat, seaweed salad with tobiko on top - really delicious!). My friend went a different direction and ordered the Chicken Tempura which looked good and a very nice sized portion! He had to take some of that and the rice home! Lol For drinks we both had the Lychee Sake-tini martini (I had 4 of them..yeah, they were THAT good!) Highly recommended. It's made with Asian Lychee, Haku Japanese Vodka and Sake. It's somewhat dim in terms of lighting inside, so I guess that's for the ambiance. What's interesting here is that you are more or less expected to scan a QR code on the table to view the menu. A bit unusual, so I requested regular menus and they gave us 2 paper menus (the thin take out menu variety..lol). The entire left side where the used to do the fancy Hibachi was closed off and has been for some time according to other Yelpers...but you can order Hibachi, it's just prepared in the kitchen. It's in a shopping plaza with plenty of free parking, so that's definitely a big plus!

Miso soup- excellent flavor ( could have been hotter temperature wise) but flavor outstanding Sushi/ sashimi combo- fresh and delicious Free Alaskan Roll for purchase of entree- Great. Overall nice restaurant- fancy bar (loud).

I ordered the shrimp teriyaki and unfortunately the flavor was lacking and the amount of serving for the price was minimal. So disappointed.

solid japanese restaurant in south jersey! we came in for dinner the day before thanksgiving and was quickly seated. i ordered the sweetheart martini and my date ordered the moscow mule. the drinks were quite strong, which i was pleasantly surprised by. they had a lot of drink options to choose from. for our food, i ordered the naked salmon roll and my date ordered the salmon avocado and tuna avocado rolls. the fish was fresh and generously portioned. the naked salmon roll was very avocado-forward but i liked that it didn't have rice. their menu was very large and included options such as teriyaki, various noodle dishes, and fried rice. not the most authentic japanese restaurant, but food was good for a quick bite. service was excellent here, our waiter was very attentive. my date actually forgot his leftovers, and our waiter ran after us into the parking lot. saw another waitress doing the same for a woman who left her purse. everyone on the team seems to be super friendly!

Had dinner reservations with my friends for a birthday on a Wednesday night. We arrived a few minutes before our reservation and were seated immediately. Yokohama has a full service bar with plenty of specialty cocktails, however I didn't really look over the drink menu or the beer list as I wasn't drinking that night. The lighting was nice and it wasn't overly big inside the dining area where we sat. They did not offer hibachi dining the night we went which was fine since not everyone in our party was in the mood for hibachi. My girlfriend got vegetable gyoza and beef negimaki. My friend and I got hibachi dinners (he got steak and I got chicken) which came with soup, salad, fried rice, and vegetables. My other friend ordered a few sushi rolls. Our server was nice and accommodating as she gladly allowed us to order a regular shrimp tempura roll without crab stick and caviar as offered on the menu. Everyone really enjoyed their food and at no point in time did we feel rushed. The portion sizes of the hibachi dinners was more than enough food for me (and I am always hungry). I also really enjoyed the ginger dressing on the salad that came with my meal. Will definitely be back in the future.

Ask the Community - Yokohama Japanese Restaurant

Does Yokohama have all-you-can-eat?

I don't see this option on their menu at all...but you can call the restaurant or go to their website perhaps.

Is the hibachi open?

The hibachi is not open where they cook at the table as of April 2022. However, you can order from the hibachi menu just that they cook it in the kitchen.

Is the hibachi grill open?

Just sushi/regular menu items right now, no hibachi. :(

Do you have to make reservations?

You don't have to however I highly recommend doing so if you are planning to dine Thursday thru Sunday or on a holiday- you won't regret going!

But anyway! this is my second time here and I failed to read review the first time. Both times it came for Happy Hour. I set up the bar and I was served by Kelsey G. She is fantastic! I hope she doesn't get mad and won't let you in on our little secret. You gotta order the wings with the lemon pepper dry rub and then a side of hot buffalo wings sauce. Absolutely crazy. Plus, a blue cheese in the ranch must be Housemade because they are out of this world. Also had an order of the Mexican calamari-delicious. And you know what we did? We drudged that calamari through the lemon pepper sauce from the wings. Sent us straight to Heaven! We had the Gramps cocktail, wasn't strong at all. It tasted like fruit punch. But we're thinking perhaps it's one of those sneaky cocktails that goes down easy, but bites you in the butt later, lol. Also had the lavender Bellini, absolutely delicious. Also got the pineapple martini, Taklatini, it was supposed to have a cinnamon, simple syrup, and and frankly it just tasted like a pineapple Martini with nothing special added. We checked out the menu and decided we would definitely come back to try some other items. We don't live nearby, but now we're thinking we would go out of our way to stop by to support it. It is absolutely fabulous!

I highly recommend this restaurant to any seafood lover. They prepared our dishes using a wonderful variety of techniques. I was initially hesitant to order the steamed Chilean sea bass, but it turned out to be perfect light, flaky, and with perfectly balanced aromatics that I'll be dreaming about until I return. Our server Vinnie was elegant and funny. He handled all our questions with ease and even brought us a complimentary side dish he personally enjoyed, which was a lovely touch. I felt like I was dining in seafood heaven; each dish was more exciting than the last. And I can't forget about the cocktails! Although I don't have a photo of my mango Moscow mule, it was the perfect pairing for my Asian-inspired three-course seafood meal. This restaurant definitely has a fancy vibe, you'll want to dress up a bit. But since it was a hot 100-degree day, my family and I appreciated the staff's kindness in welcoming us despite our casual attire. I can't praise enough the wonderful people here. A couple of points, however, in all fairness: The waiter kept promoting the red meat dishes. This is a fish restaurant! It was way too dark, despite the gorgeous chandelier. First and foremost, our server was excellent. Polite and prompt, friendly, everything you want in a server. My problem was the food ... I ordered the halibut, asked my server about the "seasonal veggies" it comes with (she mentioned asparagus, okay good) because I do love veggies, but there are some I just really do not. Unfortunately, those exact veggies arrived on the plate, and my entree looked more like stir fry. I don't like onions or peppers ... and they were the base veggie of the dish. The menu describes the "sauce" as a lemon citronette, and this dish was not at all what I was expecting. It lacked flavor, there was no sauce, not a hint of lemon (I even squeezed some on there & it didnt help :( ) I can get past some vegetables I don't eat, just pushed them to the side, but the halibut was so so so incredibly dry. It wasn't soft, or flakey, or moist. (I hate that word but it was the best way to describe what it lacked) It was like cardboard. I was trying to choke it down because I too, had just worked a serving shift for Mothers Day, & it was the first thing I was eating all day. My husband mentioned something to the server because he knew I wouldn't haha, I don't like to be a pain customer or send things back. Fortunately, they did take it off the bill, but it was just a bummer. Willing to try again in the future, & I'll just stay away from the halibut.

Despite about 75% of the tables being empty, we were seated at the worst spot in the restaurant, right next to the kitchen and directly in the path of foot traffic. On the other hand, our waitress was wonderful. She was attentive and provided quick service for both food and drinks. The butterfly martinis were excellent, and the second one was even better. The cheeseboard was delicious, and the Korean BBQ pork dumplings were packed with flavor. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn't quite live up to the drinks and apps. The spring beet salad featured wilted greens and lacked flavor, while the Peruvian chicken kabobs were dry and the accompanying sauce couldn't save them. I was really hoping for a great night out but walked away disappointed by some of the food and the seating.

At this point I'm starting to wonder if the chickens are real or if I've been the victim of an elaborate prank. Fortunately, the food more than made up for my poultry disappointment. We ordered a couple different wing flavors, including the Honey Mustard and a blueberry-based sauce, and both were excellent. The wings themselves were massive, meaty, and cooked really well. The Honey Mustard had a nice balance of sweetness and tanginess with just enough mustard bite to keep it from feeling overly sweet. The blueberry flavor was surprisingly good too. It had a sweet-tart fruitiness that sounds unusual on paper but worked really well with the smoky, savory wings. Both sauces had plenty of flavor without completely overpowering the chicken. The atmosphere is classic neighborhood pub. Cozy, casual, and the kind of place where people seem comfortable settling in for the whole evening. Downstairs there's a bar and shuffleboard area that definitely attracts a younger crowd. It gets pretty lively and noisy, which adds to the fun if you're there with friends. My only real complaint is that parts of the place felt a little messy. The stairs leading downstairs were sticky, and parts of the basement floor were too. Nothing that ruined the experience, but it was noticeable. The staff, however, were fantastic. Fast, friendly, and personable. Even when things were busy, they kept everything moving and made us feel welcome. Overall, it's a fun spot with great wings, good energy, and a laid-back crowd.
