Fujisan is the shining star of Japanese cuisine in the Imperial Valley, really the best sushi El Centro had to offer. This unassuming abode from the outside may not attract the eye, but the inside is quite updated to a modern, intimate, and clean dining space. From the friendly staff you are greet with first thing when you step inside this humble abode, to their extensive menu of tempura meal combos, udon, and sushi. The owner, Wesley, and his staff are extremely hard at work to give you a relaxed dining experience. I personally like trying their salmon maki rolls and bluefin tuna belly nigiri. However, the cuts of fish and fat content may not be the same with each visit. Still worthy of checking out.

Besides eating sushi in Japan this place is really close to it. Highly recommend and they have some good sake

I was just turned away for dinner service. When your hours of operations show you are opened until 9 pm, you should honor those or update them. The hostess was quick to say they can't seat me because last call is at 8;30-8:45. Ummm it was 8:15. No thanks, I guess they have the luxury of turning away customers.

10/10! Came here for my cousins birthday and completely blew us away with the delicious food, amazing service and the beautiful interior. Felt like I was back in Japan. The sushi was so fresh and I loved how our chef took his time to educate and explain where each fish was imported from and how it was prepared for us. You can tell this restaurant operates with true passion. Arigato Fuji-san! Can't wait to come back.

Amazing! A seriously hidden gem in the most random of places, but sooooooo worth it! The place is small and quaint. The staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. We were with a large group and nothing was forgotten. Although the wait was long, it was worth it. All the fish is very fresh and they have cuts that aren't always offered places. It's easy to see the love in the food and the passion. I look forward to coming back and trying more!

Great place for a fun work lunch with colleagues or a dinner date. Usually we get sushi rolls and they've all been great. The sticky rice was perfect in the rolls. Last time I ordered the Tempura Udon. The udon noodles were great and tasty! The owner is often the waiter and is very personable and quick to explain the complexities of each dish for any foodie who wants details. BTW - this is right off the freeway if you're driving through El Centro on I-8.

Moved to El Centro from San Diego and have been so disappointed with every sushi spot we have tried until we found this little hidden gem. My husband and I have been here multiple times now, and every time the service has been great, & the food is delicious! The sushi is so fresh and is by far the best sushi we have found in the valley. It is definitely worth the higher price for better quality. Also this is the only restaurant we have found that the water does not taste like dirt either, so all around 5 stars for us lol :)

I'm from long beach visiting here for work. I thought there was no way this city would have quality sushi, I was wrong. I actually came here two days in a row. The first day they had run out of my favorite cut of fish, as I showed up later in the day. The server let me know that the more rare cuts are limited as most people don't get them. When I came in the next day, they had actually prepared more of that fish just for me. I ordered yellowtail belly, red snapper, Hokkaido Scallops, Salmon, and Blue fin Tuna. All cuts were exceptional and they didn't skimp either. Reccomend this place to anyone visiting the area.

I ordered chirashi and edamame on DoorDash. This was probably the skimpiest chirashi I've ever had, and not cheap.

If I lived close, I would need to try all of them... except California because I've had a bunch of those. The only negative I would say is that me and my colleagues plates came out and they were presented really well, unique looking and on fancy plates. But he got an order of gyoza and it was served on a plastic basket. So everything else was all fancy, but the gyoza came out and it wasn't as nice of a presentation. Atmosphere: Its spacious inside, not too crowded and lots of Japanese decorations everywhere. I would have liked if they had cleaned the menus though because they were a little greasy feeling. Price: Not a bad price, middle of the road I would say. Edamame less than 4$ so that was cool. The coke they served was a long, 16.9oz glass bottle, I didn't even know they made those anymore! Service: Our server was nice, no complaints. Although it took a little while to get her attention, but after that it was all good. Overall: Like I said, I would totally come back here to try more rolls. Very cool little place in El Centro. If I come back through to go to Mexicali, I will stop here again.

Absolutely…read more I want to begin by saying that the staff was friendly, the food was excellent, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was enjoyable. Unfortunately, my experience with the owner was deeply disappointing. I was unaware that the restaurant opened at 11:00 AM. After seeing other customers enter, I assumed it was acceptable to go inside. The owner responded by yelling at me from across the parking lot, which I found unnecessary and disrespectful. When I later placed my order, she did not greet me and instead gave me an unfriendly look. She then made comments about me in Korean to one of the employees in a mocking manner. Having studied Taekwondo for 15 years, I was able to understand what she said. As someone from Los Angeles who appreciates and respects different cultures, I was shocked and hurt by this experience. I drove three hours to visit this restaurant and left feeling singled out and racially profiled. No customer should feel judged or insulted because of their appearance or ethnicity. Businesses should treat every guest with respect and professionalism. Because of this experience, I will not be returning, and I hope the ownership reflects on how customers are treated.

No, they are not making sushi wrong, you are ordering wrong…read more You came here and ordered a silly roll from the 50 state menu. A wise man orders the cheaper , authentic raw rolls (one state roll = two raw rolls). Specifically salmon and then gets a green tea to go with that. You will see that though yes, there may be a better sushi spot in Los Angeles, we don't live in Los Angeles, we live in the imperial valley. This place is managed by a guy who knows what he's doing, but you have to order the real "RAW ROLLS", you can tell which ones are good because they come wrapped with seaweed OUTSIDE. The only complaint I had here is usually my sushi in other places is colder, but it was done very amazingly here and on par with places outside of the imperial valley. The green tea they gave me was beautiful. I would come here more frequently if not for the distance. I'll say it once more, if you rate this below a 4, come again and order correctly you will see this place is objectively good. Small menu, objectively good, and objectively cheap for California. Actually, I've been to NorCal and this place does beat out NorCal. Hate to see this place rated so low.
