I went back here for some birthday hibachi, and I had a very similar experience. I loved the food. Great quality, cooked to perfection, the meat wasn't overcooked, everything was just right flavor-wise. [[HIGHLIGHT]]However we were the only two people seated at our hibachi table, which I was excited about until I realized we would get a much more limited experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It seemed like the chef wanted to be done for the night. He did a good job preparing the food, but it didn't feel like a true hibachi experience. Not a lot of table tricks, just a couple of tricks and a quick prep of the food. Hibachi tends to be a bit more expensive because it's more of an experience than a regular dinner, but I don't feel like the hibachi experience here is necessarily worth the upcharge. I'm a doctor nearby and I often eat at this restaurant. I can't stand not writing this complaint. Their food is getting dirtier and dirtier, and the waiters are also very dirty. I can't eat in the restaurant anymore and only order takeout. But the host at the front has a very bad attitude and even tried to ask me for a tip. After our daughters brought us here for the first time many years ago we always want to come back! The food is always delicious but we have ntoces it's getting less and less every time we go back like the rice and always have to order extra. So we used to be able to bring home so much left over and now the food you order doesn't fill the plate no more and it's always rice/noodles, steak-chicken-shrimp and funny they only give me the 2-3 shrimp everyone gets and I don't even get what I order which is ridiculous! The place was a lot bigger than I expected for a strip mall location. They have dining for people who want the hibachi grill and show and for those who just want to order sushi. It was busy but service was kinda chaotic upon entering and getting seated. No one greeted us when we walked in and we just kind of awkwardly stood there waiting for someone to ask how many were in our party so we just had to say hey we have 2 and just want sushi. The 'manager' stated that the website is up to date and everything is in stock. So now I am even more confused because if the website is accurate, then that means the lunch specials are temporarily out of stock. The 'manager' got upset and shared with me that she's already informed me 'five' times' ( untrue - and that would not have clarified the contradiction of her story) and that she will hang up on me because she has already explained. The 'manager' hung up on me. The 'manager' is rude and doesn't know how to treat potential customers! Who is her manager or owner? I recently visited this spot for lunch on a Saturday when I was with 2 girlfriends who live in Volusia county. First, the positive. The food was quite good! My tuna kobachi was fresh and satisfying. My spicy tuna roll was standard, and tasty. Prices seemed comparable to other sushi restaurants. However. Service needs work. We felt they were seating people way too close together in the Covid era. We were first shown a table, right in the middle of a bunch of other people. Not okay as people should be spaced further apart. My girlfriend asked them to move us to an open booth that had no one behind or on either side of us. They did accommodate our request which was nice, but really, necessary. Overall it just felt like we were not waited on timely. We were catching up, so we didn't mind less interruptions. But still, it was a wait for waters and other items. I forgot to mention, the house sale was quite good and we did enjoy that. The place is nicely decorated. It would be interesting to try the hibachi side on a future visit, perhaps farther down the line when Covid is less of an issue. read more

They close @10:30 but start cleaning up well before that. We left at 10:20 because at that point the only table had the chairs down and were waiting on us to close. My server although very friendly, forgot about us for most of the night and brought our sushi after the Hibachi was done. I highly recommend that if you go in, go before 9pm (we went at 930). We ordered pick up. We just moved to Deltona and were looking for a new hibachi restaurant. We considered making the drive to a favorite in Sanford but decided to try Fujiyama instead. For the price of food I'd say it definitely wasn't worth the cost. The soup had an odd odor, we didn't even try it. The tempura vegetables were soggy and not very appetizing. The chicken teriyaki was okay, as was the fried rice & side vegetables, but for the price I've had yummier food from the Japanese food chain at the mall. The shrimp tempura was also not good. We did enjoy the gyoza, but overall the price was not worth it and we kind of just felt out the money and threw most of it away. Unfortunately we wont eat here again. read more
