Fujiyame Ramen is a new business that took over a Chinese takeout eatery in Clairemont's Liberty Park Plaza. The suite had about a half dozen tables available for onsite dining. It didn't appear that they were fully set up yet when I visited during the soft opening. I say that because there were empty menu boards hanging above the kitchen service window. Two self-service kiosks and copies of the menu sheet were available along the right wall. About ten different items were available on the initial menu. More items appeared on the kiosk tablet than on the sheet. Interestingly, only two types of tonkotsu ramen were offered, one was spicy and one was not. There was more fried fare than anything else. A few things had a special discount like the Barbecue Pork Rice Bowl which I chose. I also selected the Tonkotsu Shrimp Wontons to complete my order. My food came out separately with the rice bowl first. About ten pieces of char siu pork were layered on top of the rice with steamed lettuce on the side. The meat was flavored well, but it was also fattier than I preferred. For the 33% discount, the portion size was appropriate. I don't think paying full price for such a bowl would have been a good value though. Eight wontons were boiled in a tonkotsu broth that I am sure was also used for the ramen bowls. Lettuce and green onions were included with the wontons. The broth had a strong pork flavor while the wontons were decent. I will give this place some time to get its sea legs under them before returning. I expect the menu to expand, especially with more varieties of ramen to live up to its business name. For now, I gave a three star rating for my dining experience at Fujiyame Ramen.

This place took over a prior Chinese food take out spot in a little shopping center near Balboa and Genesee. They were having a grand opening. so we decoded to try some of their food. We ordered online and the order was ready in about 20 minutes. The worker was very friendly and made sure I had enough napkins and utensils. 4/5 - Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen. Pretty tasty spicy garlicky soup, perfectly cooked egg, flavorful seasoned chasu, and thick bouncy noodles. Noodles were much more thicker than I'm used to, but they were good. 4/5 - Spicy beef noodles. Flavorful beef noodle soup, tender beef cubes, perfectly cooked egg, and the same noodles. 3/5 - Chasu bowl. The chasu was seasoned well, the sauce was good, but the rice was dry. The lettuce was also cooked because of the steam. Bak choi would be a better vegetable option. 4/5 - Crispy Shrimp Wontons. Crispy, shrimpy, and not too oily. Overall, a decent place to get Chinese and Japanese fusion ramen.

Great place to go if you want to avoid the large crowds of the main Convoy area. We really enjoyed our ramen and the popcorn chicken!

Ramen wasn't any good, no flavor and not worth the price. Maybe the chef was having a bad day but I left feeling like I got ripped off.

Unfortunately, they recently changed the menu and I can no longer get tonkotsu broth. They only offer chicken broth ramen which I do not care for in the slightest. Even the additions I used to put in my ramen (bok choy and bamboo shoots) are gone. I can get over removing my favorite vegetable add-ons, but ramen broth is a pretty important item and I'm shocked the options are gone. I think you'll lose a lot of customers by committing to just one base as I think a lot of people have a clear preference. I will also say that service, drinks, and ambiance are all still top-notch! Tonight was especially good from a service standpoint. Incredibly nice, helpful staff! Saki menu is good. Cocktails are generally on-point. They always deliver in those areas. I'm currently super disappointed. Please bring back our broth options and you'll definitely be a five-star spot.

A normal meal. A casual San Diego ramen situation. Incorrect. What actually happened was that my child experienced a culinary event so powerful it rearranged her internal belief system. She took one bite and immediately declared it her "favorite meal ever" and "the best sushi on earth," which is impressive because those are two separate categories of food, but honestly I respect the conviction. At that moment, she became a tiny ramen prophet. A noodle evangelist. A sushi sommelier of chaos. I was no longer her father. I was merely the adult with a wallet and transportation. The ramen was fantastic. The sushi was fresh. The whole place had that magical "we actually care about what we are doing" energy, which is increasingly rare in a world held together by parking apps and spiritual fatigue. Then, as if the first visit had not already altered the timeline, my daughter made me go back the next day. Not requested. Not suggested. Made. There was no negotiation. She had tasted the mountain and demanded we return to the temple. So we did. And it was still excellent. BESHOCK is now officially part of our family lore. Somewhere between "remember that time we saw the ocean" and "remember when your daughter discovered ramen and briefly became a food critic possessed by a joyful sea dragon." Highly recommend. Bring your children only if you are emotionally prepared for them to ask to come back immediately.

I got the shoyu ramen, chashu rice, and a cold oolong tea. The ramen was fine in texture and al dente. The broth was flavorful, without being oversalted. I was very impressed by the chashu: it was carefully cooked and just melts in your mouth. Extra tender. The oolong tea really hit the spot too. The food came quickly, and service was good. I just came back from Japan last month, and this place in San Diego did not disappoint. I would definitely come back again to try their other items. Sorry no pictures this time, as I was famished. Parking lot was small, but we were able to find a space at 1pm on a Friday

The serving was a bit smaller than what we are used to when we order ramen but overall we enjoyed our dinner and our 9 year old gave it a 6/4 stars. Service was very nice once we were seated and the wait for the food was not bad. It is a really cute place, feels authentically Japanese inside, but also authentically small, so I recommend reservations for a larger group: we were a party of 7 on a Saturday evening around 5:30 with no reservation and we had a wait of around 40 minutes. Definitely worth trying at least once.
