DELICIOUS! We got a nice sampling of rolls, noodles, and appetizers. Everything tasted fresh and had wonderful flavor. The service was great. We were the only people in the restaurant, so they were attentive but also gave us our space to eat and talk. The restaurant is small but has good seating. They were burning a very Smokey smelling incense when we came in and that smell kind of bothered me but I was able to get over it for the delicious food!

Just a random find. While in the area for another reason. The service is great, quick and very attentive. The ambiance is very quaint. The food was better than I could have imagined. The rolls were HUGE very well stuffed w spicy tuna and nice cuts of albacore and tuna for the dishes we selected. 10/10 highly recommend this spot if you are in the area.

Love this place, best sushi in Tierrasanta! PROS: Decor is very nice. They always have pleasant, applicable music. There's a TV that has the main sporting events on. Nice drink selection. Plenty of indoor seating. It's always organized and clean in here. To- Go orders are always ready in 10 minutes or so. Some of our favorites: udon noodle bowl, spicy crispy roll, lemon roll, crunchy roll, and chicken teriyaki bowl. Also, the waitress and chef are always quick, polite, and attentive. CONS: None

The review is for the service and value if the food. For tierrsanta you only have a couple sushi options. Although I enjoy both, kaki packs value in their sushi. Great prices, good amounts of fish, and friendly staff that keep you coming back. All their basic rolls are amazing and good to grab to go for quick dinners/lunch etc. The ambiance is a normal little sit down. Straight to the point. Phone order ahead of time if you're scooping up to go! My favorite basic rolls are the tuna roll and Philadelphia roll! Their special rolls are also off the chain! Try them all.

The place could use some designers' touch. Maybe watching some HGTV could help them. Sushi is very decent. We liked all 3 rolls - crispy crunchy, Las Vegas and Kaki. Served at the right temperature so the rice was soft. The rolls are fairly big. The kaki roll was interesting. The crunch comes from the inside of the roll (panko fried shrimp) instead of the outside like the crispy crunchy. Service was also decent.

This place was good. The beer was a good value All the rolls were delicious. The kaki and Las Vegas one was my favorite. Service was really fast and friendly also. Not my favorite sushi place but definetly better than most. You wouldn't be disappointed eating here. Not a bad value either. Tasted fresh and delicious.

Kaki Sushi is located at the end of a strip mall in the Tierrasanta neighborhood. I visited during the pre-pandemic times and was able to enjoy a meal while dining in. The dining room is not very large and could seat roughly a couple dozen customers. A good chunk of the business was from take-out orders as folks kept coming in to pick up their food. For my meal, I ordered two hand rolls (eel and spicy tuna) for $3.95 each, a Mango Roll (California roll with yellowtail on the inside, mango cubes and scallions on the outside) for $9.50, and a Summer Roll (salmon, hamachi, tuna, imitation crab, avocado and gobo on the inside with a cucumber wrap on the outside) for $9.50. I am always fond of riceless sushi because it is less filling so the Summer Roll was my favorite of the bunch. The quality of the seafood was middle of the road while the prices were reasonable. I gave my experience here a 3.5 star rating.

This place is very good and convenient for us. They have a wide variety of sushi rolls on the menu, and the staff are always very kind.

Honestly it's a great place. Excellent service and fresh fish. The only thing preventing a perfect score is the small selection.

It's operated by a husband-and-wife team without much fanfare as I rarely have seen the business mentioned when it comes to sushi in the SD area. I do worry that its location is not very visible when you are speeding down Clairemont Mesa Blvd. It might be a reason why this place is so quiet and seldom filled to capacity. After exercising at a nearby gym, I came for a late lunch and was their sole customer at the time. Parking is never an issue at this plaza so I got a space near the front. The place can hold about a couple of dozen customers with another four more that can be seated at the sushi bar. The interior decor was clean and simple which was also reflected in their menu. The offerings have definitely been tweaked since their grand opening several years ago. Some varieties of fish were no longer featured, and I noticed more combination choices. For my meal, I picked a Rainbow Roll and three kinds of nigiri... toro, scallop, and eel. Everything was prepared by the owner who is the sushi chef. Even with the impact of inflation, the prices remained very reasonable while retaining fresh quality fish. For example, where else can you find two pieces of fatty tuna for only $11? Most competitors will charge that much for just one slice of otoro. The Rainbow consisted of tuna, yellowtail, salmon, and avocado wrapped outside of a California Roll. A minor deduction would be that the sushi variety wasn't as extensive, and you won't find any rare fishes served here. Kotobuki is definitely worth trying if you appreciate a no-frills approach to sushi. I gave a 4.5 star rating for my latest visit to this hidden gem.

We came by on a Friday afternoon & didn't realize just how small their space is. Fortunately, the wait was only 20 minutes & we made it just in time to order before they closed the kitchen at 1:40 pm. For food, we got the potato croquette and katsu curry, both scrumptious!! The curry tastes very clean, not oily/greasy, similar to what I've had in Japan. I also wish there was a bit more katsu as it seemed kinda small compared to the rest of the plate. I'm still a bit partial to Coco Ichibanya as their curry has a bit more flavor/kick, but EE Nami is a close second! I definitely want to try the katsu sando next time :-) P.S. They do NOT offer chicken katsu, only pork. I saw reviews where some people ordered chicken katsu but the staff confirmed that they don't sell it!

I had debated whether to reserve upstairs or downstairs and ultimately chose upstairs and I was happy with that decision for the two of us, as it was a bit more relaxing and I liked the decor. There was however, a large table of about 8 people in the center of the room that were quite noisy. Downstairs definitely had a more 'hustle bustle' atmosphere with large booths and a long sushi bar. (There is also some outdoor 'Covid' style seating). We ordered sake, a couple of sushi rolls and negiri. They were kind enough to supply a complimentary birthday ice-cream dessert with a candle. Service was very attentive and as we passed the sushi bar on the way out, staff behind the bar waived goodbye. Parking: We were able to park near First and Laurel streets for free on a Saturday afternoon. A very classy sushi place. I definitely recommend a visit for a special occasion or perhaps if visiting nearby Balboa Park or the Old Globe Theater. Helpful?
