Thai Time 3 has been one of my two go to Thai spots for over a year now, mainly for their lunch special. The food tastes great, is well priced, and the staff is consistent and accommodating. In a year, I have never had a meal I was unsatisfied about. I've tried (too?) many Thai places in San Diego, TT3's consistency and price is unmatched. Love this place! :) Stopped by for their lunch specials this week & they were tasty plus reasonably priced, compared to other restaurants in the area. We ordered the pad thai with chicken and pineapple fried rice with beef. Service was great and we parked right in front of the restaurant via a shared plaza parking lot with lots of spaces. Ambiance was cozy, lots of natural light in the afternoon & not super crowded. Overall I would recommend this place as the food is good, the booths are comfortable and the service and prices were decent. My only complaint was the amount of shrimp in my Pad Thai- the dish only came with 4 shrimp, call me picky but if you're going to change me for a particular Protien then give me enough to complement the carb...5 to 7 shrimp depending on the size should be the minimum...this would have pushed them from 3 to 4 stars easily. read more

Thai Time III is a go-to for take-out nights when I stay with friends in Clairemont. Hard to beat their prices and speed for the quality! Wish I had a place like TT III in my neighborhood in the Bay. We usually get their pad thai, fried appetizers, curries, fried rice, and Thai tea. For the lunch entree with pad thai, an egg roll, and small salad, it's $12.50! I've spent about four months total traveling through Thailand over the years, and I can honestly say this place makes super legit Thai food. It's definitely more of a takeout spot than a dine-in restaurant which is right up my alley. The food is always ready fast, the flavors are spot-on, and everything tastes freshly made. A cold Friday night asks for the coconut Thai soup. The boyfriend and I went to another one next to his place but it was packed so we decided to try this one. Did not realize it was super casual, kind of like a diner place. We ordered jasmine tea expecting the teapot and the little cups and hot too homie, tea from sachet in a mug. Oh well. The spring rolls both the hot and the cold ones were really good. The soup was not great. Got pad thai (spicy) and papaya salad (medium spice) delivered. Papaya salad was just OK. The texture seemed a little limp. The tomatos were great though. The pad thai was also just OK. It needed more tamarind and salt. In regards to spice level, it is on the weaker side so if you like spice, get the extra spicy. read more

Stumbled upon this place since there were Tesla Superchargers nearby. Despite looking like a normal sit-down restaurant, you order and pay right at the door, and if you eat in, they'll serve you with paper plates and disposable utensils. Makes it feel like a fast casual approach, and we were the only eat-in diners while we were there; everyone else was take-out. We ordered: - Our benchmark fried rice with pineapple. I word it this way because to their defense, they don't call it Pineapple Fried Rice. This ended up more like Chinese fried rice with pineapple and cashews. So it missed the Thai mark, but it ended up being delicious! It had a smokiness, which is called wok-hei in Chinese, which means "breath of the wok". This made it amazing and worth coming back for in itself! - Pad see ew -- pretty standard. Would have benefited from the wok-hei described above! - Crispy orange chicken. This was more like a Chinese buffet battered chicken nuggets. At other restaurants, we've had Thai chicken breast that's fried with an orange glaze; this was not that unfortunately, and was more like a knock-off version of Panda Express orange chicken. Talk about a hidden gem away from all the flashy lights, beach and normal vacationing action. My husband and I were looking for someplace local where the best Tai food is served and I am an avid Yelper so I immediately began searching. I came across Thai Time 3 and read the reviews. Folks: I just want to say, "You ALL make a HUGE difference so thank you for leaving your reviews!" As I entered this location I felt like a time bomb went off as if I was back in the 80's which threw me off a bit. None-the-less, I trusted the Yelp reviews. I decided to asked about the heat index and the levels. They are as followed according to the Greeter/Waitress: 1 mildly spicy, Level 2 Spicy and Level 3- Very Super Spicy. With that load of info I ordered the following: 1. Pad April King (Stir-fried Green-beans, added chicken and lemon leaves in a red curry) -comes with a side of Jasmine rice. (Level 2) 2. Spicy Noodles (aka-Drunken Noodles) - stir fried flat noodles w/basil, green and red peppers, chili & eggs (Level 3). 3. Two orders of Vegetable Fried Rice (level 1 and 2) 4. Chow Mein - stir fried noodles, cabbage, bean sprouts, green onions & brown sauce. (No spice) The levels are 1,2 & 3. - In my humble opinion, level 3 is not hot, more like a tad spicy where you feel it on the back of your tongue (Like Hot Cheetos after a handful)... meaning it may release the capsaicin and your nose may begin to run after a while. Level 2 is far milder than hot Cheetos - almost non existent and level 1 is extremely non existent. My heat level variance is a little higher than some as I come from a Latin background where Chile and spice are in many of our dishes. My husband who frequently has heartburn states level 3 was tasty, but "pretty spicy". Lol! He also couldn't taste the difference in Level 1 or 2. FOOD REVIEW: The Chow Mein was sweet which threw me off a bit and and the Pad Prik King was semi sweet also, but one thing that I noticed was a strange flavor profile that I had never had before. (I frequent Tai food) and this was the first time I tasted these semi-sweet/strange flavors. Literally, I ended up putting a ton of extra Sambal Oelek Chile Paste and it took away the strange flavor and sweetness factor and gave me a more authentic Pad Prik King Flavor. I noticed this establishment offers plastic dinnerware as well as sealed packaged forks, knives, spoons and to-go condiments. Upon reading the reviews my understanding is, this was opted for as a safety measure for their customers due to past pandemic restrictions which I super appreciate and applaud. Overall, we opted for a to-go order and within 10-12 minutes our complete order was ready to go. Upon arriving at our hotel near the beach. Our food was still temp hot, tasty and overall delicious. Service at this location was amazing and speedy. I would 100% recommend Tai Time 3 and if I am ever in the surrounding SanDiego area again, I will be sure to stop in for a second time. read more

I came here with my friend and we tried the Panang curry, Lad Nar, and and eggplant stir fry. The food here is pretty good and flavorful. Next time I would have ordered more dishes with medium spice. Most places offer you water and provide accommodations for you. The food was ok, definitely need to work on their spice levels and portions. This place is great! Me and my husband come about once a month for their lunch specials. The place is on the small side and pretty quiet during the work week at lunch time. The service is kind and attentive but gives you your space to enjoy your meal. I usually get the hot basil lunch special combination and it is so yummy. The meats are so tender and the sauce is full of flavor. Absolutely delicious! My husband usually gets pad Thai or fried rice. The pad Thai is a little on the sweeter side for me, but still good. And the fried rice is nicely flavored. My husband usually orders the duck fried rice and he loves it so much that he orders a dinner portion because he can't get enough of it. The duck is delicious and they actually give you a good amount of duck compared to most restaurants. We have tried other random menu items but these are our go to choices. This is the worst thai food I have ever had. We ordered a non spicy chicken pad Thai and a spicy chicken fried rice dish. They repeated the order back correctly and then we received the opposite of what we ordered. To top it off the pad Thai that had the spice that it wasn't supposed to have tasted like spaghettiOs.
