Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! My husband especially loved the Num Tok Beef and the Crab Fried Rice. I've been on the hunt for a great Pad Thai for years, and this is hands down the best I've ever had. My favorite combo is the Shrimp Pad Thai with Papaya Salad. We ordered spice level 5, and they even brought extra chili on the side so we could kick it up a notch, which I definitely did since I love spicy food! And of course, we had to try the Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango, so authentic and the perfect way to end the meal. Great service, amazing food, and an overall wonderful experience. BEST PAD THAI I HAVE EVER HAD! This is quite the statement as I have had pad thai from many places. Crab rangoons were delicious. Papaya salad was good. This little Thai place is a hidden gem! Literally and metaphorically because it can be hard to find. The GPS will tell you the wrong directions. You have to get on the small road Gibbs Dr, which is next to the main street Aero Drive. This place is takeout only. Anyways on to the food! The food is flavorful and spicy if you want it to be. They ask for your spice level, I got a mild pad see ew and a medium spice pad Thai. The medium was something that I can handle, whereas some places medium I can't. If you really like spicy don't be afraid to get hotter than medium. The portion is generous and the food came out freshly made and piping hot. The price is good value as well and is cheaper than most other Thai places around the area. The service is very nice and friendly. It's a small mom and pop restaurant and the owner is welcoming and kind. I ordered take out in the store and waited in my car. When the food was ready he came out and personally delivered it to me. Preface this is an absolute hole in the wall so two things. One; Please see full review. Two; Honestly wtf are these low star reviews? Moved to the area recently and this was on my try list being literally 10 minutes away walking. My coworker and I got shrimp pad Thai, sweet and sour mock duck, and a mango sticky rice to go. Forgot my wallet when I went, not a big deal living so close, but asked the owner if they had tap to pay as being a hole in the wall not much online info. Actually found this place driving by not on a search. I was assured they had tap to pay and that the food would be out shortly. Ran next door and came back had a lovely and genuine chat with the owner. Truly nice people. Food wise B! O! M! B! I'm vegetarian my coworker isn't. We're both light eaters and I'll just say we devoured our plates well past being stuffed. Heat levels are spot on. Flavors were better than expectations. I'm not going to sit here and call this place worthy of a multiple Michelin stars but if you're in the area and want to try some quality Thai at honestly a really reasonable price this is it. That said I've been around the block literally and figuratively and this one will definitely be "tested" again and is on up there with the top Thai in/around convoy area of San Diego if not all of San Diego. Wife n I love Thai food! Actually we love Thailand. We go there occasionally on culinary journeys. The food in Thailand is absolutely divine and the only place we've had in San Diego that rivals true authenticity is Pear's in Serra Mesa. This is a small unassuming mom n pop shop in a small strip mall next to Montgomery Gibbs Airport. You wouldn't think much of it just passing by and may just miss it altogether, but I assure you it's worth seeking out...if you want delicious perfectly crafted Thai cuisine that is. Their menu is not overly extensive and everything on it is 10/10. My wife judges Thai restaurants by their papaya salad. She's Asian and she gets it! She tried their papaya salad day one and was hooked. Just beware, if you're a spice weenie you might want to keep the heat number low, like three or less. I'm pretty sure, by American standards, that their five is a solid eight anywhere else. That's just another authentic aspect of the food. The restaurant is on the street behind Aero - Gibbs- that is by the airport, but In the same building complex that faces Aero. Food is very, very tasty. I especially like the Massaman Curry with pineapple added . It is so tasty. My wife got the broccoli stir fry which also was flavorful. Owner is very friendly with good service! We used to order from Pear's back in 2015-2017. Remembering how much we liked the pad see ew, we decided to do take out recently. And dare I say the food is even better now under the new management. The portions were generous and hot. I was worried that the curry might be watery but it was nice, thick and delicious. Back in the day the curry could be hit or miss, but seems like the new management has it right. The food was hot and ready to go in the amount of time they told us. It is now a 20 minute drive for us but I'm pretty sure we will be back because it's worth it. read more

This place is a hidden gem next to Montgomery Airport. If you're in the area (it's also worth the drive!) check this place out. The staff is very friendly, the flavors are authentic, and the food is unbelievably delicious. Takeout is a great option to support local businesses right now and they do a great job with takeout. I hope to dine in once that is available again. We called for an order, it was ready very quickly, and it was so hot even after bringing it home. My photos are not of full portions.
