I also appreciated that they cleaned up after themselves, sounds small, but it makes a difference. Pricing was fair and upfront, no surprises. I've dealt with other companies in the past where you feel like you're getting sold on things you don't need, but that wasn't the case here at all. If you're looking for a solid plumbing and HVAC company for repairs or installs, I'd definitely recommend them. I'll be calling them again when I need service.

First, they charged me over $850 for a "diagnosis" (about 2 hours of work) where they used a video snake to determine there was a blockage from grease. The technician gave us two options in a PDF and suggested arranging an additional appointment for jetting the pipes. I called the company back over the weekend and told them id like to do the jetting. The email regarding the jetting quote said "When you would like to book one of these services, please give our office a call at (781) 706-4682!". There was also a link to sign on the PDF quote but it was invalid so I called instead. The second visit was even more pathetic. The technician showed up completely unprepared, confused, and without the equipment required to actually perform the work he was sent there to do. He told me that since I didn't "sign the quote" they sent over he didn't come with the tools or second worker needed to do the job. Despite the fact that they couldn't complete the service, they still had the nerve to charge me an additional $125.00 dispatch fee for essentially doing absolutely nothing. After wasting my time and money, I finally brought in a real professional who actually knows what they're doing. The problem was solved within an hour and a half and I was charged $300. Do yourself a favor and use a reputable local plumber because big companies like this just take advantage of hard working people. I am a first responder- I work hard, long hours to make average pay and this was a huge hit for me and my partner. Blue bear is the most incompetent service experience I've ever had. I said GREAT, but then he said it was still a very expensive job. I asked him why and he mumbled something about overhead and cost to do business. He offered us a one year warranty on a capacitor or a 5 year warranty on a different capacitor. One was $650 the other was $850. By the time he got done we had a $967 bill for a job that averages $200. Look it up, and avoid this predatory company at all costs. Im pretty sure we were taken advantage of because of our extreme age and the fact we needed the air conditioning to survive.

I got quotes and presentations from 4 different vendors and the pitch and price was exactly the same - hour long presentation and a $30k cost. However, what each vendor tells you is that IF you qualify a $10k rebate is available and your net cost is $20k. Essentially the rebate is a scam - it just gives contractors the ability to inflate the prices and use the rebate to make the system sound cheaper than it really is. I finally met with McIver and he was able to simplify the entire process. He is not a Mass Save contractor. So he does not work the rebate, just offers a strait-up cost to install the system. When he gave me his quote, I quickly figured out that Dan McIver was an honest man and that the whole Mass Rebate program was a scam. His quote with the similar equipment and the same number of mini-splits was $13,500. I hired him for the job and they started within a week. One of my biggest concerns was esthetics - I was worried about too many refrigeration lines running around the outside of the house. Our house is a rental property in Cape Cod that had a lot of charm to it and we did not want to ruin the integrity of it. Dan came up with a brilliant solution and was able to run most of the lines through the basement to minimize the lines on the outside of the house - we were so pleased with this solution. His team did a fantastic job building out the system - they were clean and finished the project on the timeline he quoted. The work was high quality!! Net is that Dan took a very complicated buying process and made it simple and affordable. He is highly recommended for the quality of his work, pricing and his honest and straightforward approach!

He stopped by and gave us a quote which was very comparable to other quotes we received. We decided to go with Michael and a few days later (before our scheduled installation date) our boiler/heating system completely broke and we had no hot water. He again stopped by and looked it and offered to try to fix it temporarily. We appreciated the offer but we just waited for the scheduled installation date that we had already set. Michael had said it would take 3 days to install and it took 3 days. He arrived on time every day and worked all day in the very hottest of days. His subcontractor/electricians came on the last day and they were polite and on time. We asked them for their business cards in case we needed future electrical work. Called at 5am and got the call center. They took all my info but got no response. Had to figure out how to shut down the water and unit myself while cold water was spraying everywhere. Called back again at 8am and got call center again. They said they sent the message and tech got the page at 5am when I originally called. Yet no call back from the tech or anyone! Had to call back again at 9am. This time got the office. The woman on the other end couldn't have cared less that my basement was flooded, I had no heat or water, that we're regular customers and that no one called back. She said the tech was on vacation! So why have a calling service if you're not going staff it appropriately or care to respond? Frankly if the tech called me back and said he was on vacation I would have been fine with that so I could have moved on to another emergency service sooner.
