I was referred to this office through my dentist because my son accidentally head-butted me causing me to remove a screw. First visit, everything was good. Come surgery time, the whole energy from him felt rushed. I needed a moment to breathe before being jabbed by a needle (I just don't like shots) and Dr. M just grabs my arm and tells me with attitude, "ugh, you just made me miss your vein. You need to stay still". I told him I just needed a second and he just seemed like that minute was wasting his time. Surgery wasn't a success and he wanted me to come back to get more surgery. Well, he sent me to the best oral surgeon ever ... the pinnacle, the top, incredible ... Steven Miyamoto DDS, he is genius! Now I mention my dentist because he would only recommended an oral surgeon that he would send his own family to ... turns out, I know people who have had the same awesome experience I had with Dr Miyamoto. I was put at ease on my initial contact via phone with Christie. That woman is worth her weight in gold. Professional, patient, accommodating, personable and extremely efficient. Christie had all paperwork to me by the time I finished making my appointment which saved me time in the waiting room and lessened my stress. Penelope (exam room) was thorough in prepping me for my consult, giving me all information needed prior to and post surgery. I had time to review the paperwork giving me a leg up on questions for Dr Miyamoto. it was determined that I needed an immediate extraction, and lucky for me. They were willing to fit me in. Roni (chair side) was also efficient, confident, and along with Dr. Miyamoto put me at complete ease before and during the extraction. Thank you office staff person for your crappy ass reverse discrimination. Maybe you're having a bad day, but discrimination is NEVER ok. I was given new patient forms to complete. I declined their floppy flower pen, I opted to use my own pen. I handed in completed packet. I was informed the packet needed to be filled out in black ink only, my blue ink wouldn't work. I explained I had active carpal tunnel, my wrist hurt, my fingers were numb and pain was shooting up my arm from first batch. Just given new batch of forms and told to redo packet. ===》Holy f*ck. I explained I couldn't do it again bc of the pain fallout from first batch. Staff didn't give a rat's ass. I'm spending thousands and you treat me this crappy? Sorry, I'm not into paying for blatent discrimination. I'm 45, but if I was in my mid 70s with deep wrinkles, limping, on crutches, or using a walker, I would have obvious street credit. I'm sure I wouldn't have been made to redo everything if I was 25+ years older. I'm out a few hundred for consult, but my dignity is worth far more than this place. PLEASE CONSIDER GOING ELSEWHERE ****This provider's treatment plan differed greatly from what I actually had done by another provider. I had to get two different molars extracted by Dr. Miyamoto. One was actually hidden in my gums behind my upper wisdom tooth (a freak extra tooth!) and was a challenging extraction but I was kept comfortable and safe the whole time (anesthesia on board), and recovery was smooth afterwards. The second one was just today, 13 years later - my wisdom tooth in the same area needed to be removed due to a small infection. Again anesthesia was on board and Dr. Miyamoto himself placed the IV with such minimal discomfort to me! I essentially fell asleep, woke up and it was all done. Pain and swelling are minimal 7 hrs after the surgery (following all the post-op care instructions), I've eaten a full dinner of enchiladas and feel such relief in the area. I thought I was going to be sipping soup and laid out in pain but am amazed I've been able to go about my day quite well a few hours out from the procedure. Also! My mom had extensive gum issues and went to see Dr. Miyamoto to basically get an entire new set of teeth. She was so pleased with the whole process and she looks and feels great. Dr. Miyamoto is incredibly kind, patient, thorough, compassionate and professional. His staff are clearly pros at what they do. They know how to prep the patient both emotionally, mentally and physically, and they are both attentive and efficient. The office is sparkling clean and feels very safe. Technology is top notch. I recently had my wisdom teeth extracted and I have to admit that I was a little nervous knowing that I wouldn't be able to eat harder foods after the surgery. Fortunately, the staff were all welcoming and it helped soothe my nerves while sitting in the chair. They didn't rush, but they were efficient and quick while they had pleasant conversations which also helped with the fear. One of the staff, Veronica, I think, was particularly kind and energetic. As soon as Dr. Miyamoto walked in, he was just as welcoming and quick. The area where the surgery had been was healed over enough for me to eat normal food in 2 days. My follow up was 2 weeks after my surgery. Veronica checked up on my status and healing, then she gave me a syringe that helped clean the gaps of food particles.
