This isn't the type of adventure you can show up to on a whim. You have to schedule a visit in advance. I scheduled a date and time over the phone. They took my credit card info, a contact number and my kids' names. The first date I scheduled was cancelled due to inclement weather. Pirate Adventures called and cancelled the adventure about three hours prior to when it was supposed to start. I elected to reschedule right then. I was instructed to arrive a half hour before our adventure so the kids could get their faces painted and pick out a sash. We parked on the street a few blocks away not realizing they have a parking lot. We checked in, the kids were given name tags with their name and an alliterative adjective (ie Zig Zag Zora and Kung Fu Kieran) and then reported to the face painting and sash picking area. After face painting kids and adults boarded the boat and the Chesapeake part of the adventure began. The captain went over a few safety measures with the adults while his assistant went through guidelines with the kids. The adventure has a whole story with different parts involved that kept the seven kids on our adventure entertained. Ages ranged from probably three to fourteen. These parts included a map search, treasure hunt, key finding expedition, pirate fight and a final pirate bounty quest. For the adults, we just hung out under a shaded portion of the boat. I got up to interact with my kids a few times and to snap some pictures. Mostly I just enjoyed the boat ride. The whole adventure lasted almost two hours (counting face painting). If you have kids that love to pretend and don't mind riding a boat, Pirate Adventures on the Chesapeake might be right up their alley.

On 8 May 1999 I heard advertisements for The Joker's Jinx . I remember I didn't like the ads for the ride, but I knew I would certainly ride this ride. The day I went to the park, I rode many rides, because I know the line for this ride would be long no matter what time I went. When I finally arrived to the ride, the line was long, but there were refreshments for those in line. The lemonade hit the spot and I had plenty of time before I rode the ride to get the fluid into my system. When I saw the paint job for the Joker, I never thought emerald green and purple went well together, BUT THEY DO. Oh, I was young back then. I even bought a Joker's Jinx tee shirt. At that time I wore a large tee shirt. I don't remember what happened to the shirt, but I know I through...no...I believe I gave it to good will. When I finally got to the gated area, you had to pass by several mirrors that made you look distorted. For my first experience I went straight to the back where I had to wait a little longer. Why, because the rear is tighter? Because I like it in the rear? Or because the rear of the car is the fastest. This answer is the best answer. The front is the slowest, but the rear end gets pushed forwards because of the force of the front of the car. The middle seats are a natural point. In this case since it is a blast coaster it pretty much doesn't matter until you feel the rear end of the car moving faster from the pulling of the rest of the cars. The spiraling looks to the side way turns make this rollercoaster a lot of fun. Listening to one of the operator say "Hands Up, hands up, I wanna see your hands." Once everyone's hands were up, he would hit the go button and everyone in the coaster cars would shoot forwards. I would love to say The Joker's Jinx started the blast coasters craze, but it wouldn't be true. Still, I had a lot of fun. This ride is a steel ride and steel rides have been know to be smoother than the wooden rollercoasters. I wouldn't mind going on this ride again. I would call this a high thrill ride.

Happy 103rd Birthday to the Wild One!…read more This has to be the oldest coaster I've ever ridden. And yes, being a wooden coaster definitely has its challenges. However, I do think this is a great ride. Anyone who rides a wooden coaster definitely knows they are on the rougher side vs a more modern coaster. However if you like roller coasters, it's definitely worth a ride at least once!

For being 100 years old I really expected this coaster to be all bad like super rough and yeah but that wasn't the case on my ride in the front row as I felt it was decently smooth for being this old and wooden! I'm pretty sure this is the oldest coaster I've ever ridden and I take that into consideration when I justify the roughness of the ride as for being this old it's not that bad it's good to see that Six Flags America is keeping this 100 year old coaster in this good of condition in our nations capitol! Overall I expected a lot less of this ride and what I found on this very day is a great old school coaster that's still kicking it 100 years later so make sure you get to ride it as you never know what might happen to it in the future with all these new Hybrid Coasters popping up!

Whether you're going with family, friends, or just trying to get out the house for a bit, it works. The lanes are kept up well, and everything runs smooth for the most part. You're not dealing with constant issues, which makes a big difference when you're just trying to enjoy yourself. One of my favorite things is the galaxy bowling on Friday and Saturday nights. From 10pm to 1am, it's unlimited bowling, shoes included, for $25 per person. The lights, music, and overall vibe make it a whole different experience. Definitely a good move if you're going with a group or just want something a little more fun than regular bowling. It's a good mix of people too. Families, groups of friends, and casual bowlers all in the same space. It keeps the vibe fun without feeling chaotic. They've got food and drinks available, which adds to the experience. It's not gourmet or anything, but it does the job while you're there. Staff is solid. They keep things moving and help out if something comes up. Only downside is it can get crowded, especially on weekends or evenings, so you might have to wait for a lane. Overall, it's a reliable spot for a good time. Simple, fun, and a nice local option when you're looking to do something different.

Not upscale but for a random family night of bowling and you're not trying to break the bank, this is the place to go.
