IC issues and pelvic pain are what led me to try pelvic floor therapy. However, after dealing with insurance company limitations and/or inexperienced 'pelvic floor' therapists, I met with Dr. Mallorie. The first meeting I had with her, I knew it would be different. Having an entire hour to work with her was such a contrast to the 20 mins I spent with other providers, only to be sent off with PTAs for the rest of the session. I learned so much about the pelvic floor muscles and the impact it can have on the rest of the body. As well as core activation, breathing and cycle tracking, just to name a few. When I told her I wanted to try to conceive, we shifted gears a bit. I remember one visit, I felt like I had a mini-therapy/EMDR session. She was simply asking questions which led to an emotional release. I started feeling confident about conceiving. With her help in learning how to track my cycle, I became pregnant in the second month of trying. She supported me throughout my entire pregnancy. I chose to have a homebirth, and we found which labor breathing and birthing positions would work best for me. After birthing my baby, I unfortunately was hit with Postpartum Anxiety and Depression. I remember her kindness during those difficult times. She always made me feel hopeful when I left her office. She's supportive of partners coming in to be part of the team. My husband came in for a couple of sessions, and she taught him a few PT techniques to help with some of my issues. I would say her knowledge of herbal medicine and nutrition set her apart from many. I would joke with her that she was also my functional medicine doctor too. What a blessing it has been to know her. She is a beautiful human being and will always hold a special place in my Heart. I heard about her through a good friend of mine who is also a Tahitian dancer. She diagnosed me with long term tendinitis and knee strain. Not only did she do muscle release, scraping, and chiropractic adjustments, she also did physical therapy. She gave me specific stretches and exercises to do at home. Turns out Dr Camille is also a Tahitian dancer and understands the challenging mechanics that go into it. After a few months of seeing her, my knees rarely hurt! Just a mild soreness after practice which is to be expected. My performance has enhanced too! My faarapu (fast hip circles) is much smoother than it used to be. It used to be very "jerky." My tifene (duck walk) is stronger and less daunting...I no longer die on the dance floor! She's also just a wonderful doctor who really cares about her patients. She really listens and hears you. She is extremely thorough in her assessments. When she says "consistency is key," it's true! You gotta do the homework and do the follow ups to feel better.
