This place has been on my list for years, so naturally I was geeked to finally be checking it out. When I finally got it, I saw how mouthwatering all the desserts were but in person! There were so many things to choose from, I didn't know where to start. I knew I wanted a chocolate chip, but should I get it plain or with raisins? What about the s'mores? Ultimately, I went with one chocolate chip, one s'mores, and one crumbfetti. Each cookie is thick but jammed packed with their respective ingredients. I think out of those three, I liked the s'mores and chocolate chip the best. Everything I had was good, but the s'mores in particular had the Golden Grahams to give it an added boost of flavor. To be honest, I only stopped in because the aesthetic but stayed for the cookies. Not often you see a place plastered in purple. The cashier was dope. Super patient and laid back with us despite bombarding her with a lot of questions before making our final decisions hahahaha. I got Crumbfetti for me, and my friend and I split the s'mores and oatmeal chocolate chip ones. Each of them big in size and deliciousness. They were perfect in terms of consistency; not dry at all and probably among the best cookies I've ever tasted in my life. (No cap, as the youth say these days). Also, it'd be remiss not to mention throwback playlist when we descended on Funny Face. Once Mariah Carey's "Obsessed" came on, everyone in the shop lost it and began dancing and vibing. I came to New York with a mission. There are tons of lists detailing "the best chocolate chip cookie in New York City" but I was resolved to figure this out for myself. While I didn't even come close to trying out the top 30, I did happen to scour the city to try the top 5 and am happy to report that Funny Face was the clear winner! Funny Face's chocolate cookie was the best for many reasons. 1. It was thick! I like a big thick cookie (think: Levain style) where you literally have to grab it with two hands to break it in half. 2. Unlike Levain, it wasn't overly sweet. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE a Levain cookie, but Funny Face felt less sweet than theirs making it easier to just keep enjoying and enjoying! 3. They had a great variety of other flavors too! We were craving a cookie and were so happy to see that one of the best rated spots in NYC was open somewhat late the evening we stumbled in. It's so colorful and they have so many different cookies based on different tv characters, actors, and other artists. We came in for their traditional cookies though and were not disappointed. My friend got the chocolate chip cookie and I got the crispy mallow crunch cookie, which blended two of my favorite things, a marshmallow treat with a cookie. I was influenced to visit Funny Face Bakery from Remi Ashten who has made videos coming here whenever she's in NYC. The decorated cookies are so fun and there's so many different designs you can choose from. They are definitely very pricey, so I opted for the Crumbfetti cookie which was your basic cookie with sprinkles and it was $6.50. The cookie was nice and warm and I thought it was very tasty. Honestly I like funny face. It fits my cookie type. I do think the chocolate chip is not as good as levain because it's sweater without the walnuts to cut it. Texture wise they're pretty similar. My husband and I agreed that this was the BEST cookies we've ever eaten and will now compare any cookies we eat, to this. I loved both but the winner was the Crispy Mallow Crunch for me. Visited Funny Face Bakery while in New York, and oh my lantaaa I'm so glad I did, but also a little heartbroken I don't live closer. However, taking it also as good thing, haha! First off, the purple interior immediately catches your eye when you walk in. It's fun, groovy, and honestly gave me total Prince vibes (yayyyy, Minnesota). The decorated sugar cookies are incredible looking.... The amount of detail is amazing. They're almost like too cute to eat. The real star of the show for me was..... the s'mores cookie!! WOW!! Funny Face Bakery seems to be more famous for their cookies with funky images on them, but they also have more standard offerings such as chocolate chip cookies. I first read about this bakery when reading lists of the best chocolate chip cookies in NYC. Theirs are in the popular large bulky style and cost a whopping $7.  I'd considered visiting Funny Face's Seaport location but when I happened to be near their Lafayette Street one, I decided to venture in for a pick-me-up. The pastel shop is adorable but it's not really for hanging out since it's on the smaller side and there aren't any tables and chairs. The decorated cookies are in glass cases like at a jewelry store; the NYC ones were my favorites. But at $14 each, they were more for admiring than purchasing.  Once home, I ate some of the chocolate chip cookie which weighed close to 6 ounces and was roughly 4 inches in diameter. Zapping it up slightly in the microwave was the way to go for optimal gooeyness. However, I found that it was missing the warmth I like that comes from brown sugar. The website lists the ingredients as "Butter, Flour, Eggs, Sugar, Chocolate, Vanilla" interestingly enough. To quickly conclude, I was glad I tried Funny Face's chocolate chip cookie but will stick to my favorites for now. read more

After eating such and pizza for lunch(es), we finished off with a couple of cookies. I have seen some on social media say that the chocolate chip cookies here are the best, even compared to Levain! To be fair, I actually think the best cookie at Levain is the dark chocolate peanut butter, which is saying a lot because I usually love chocolate chip. But something about the way Levain does that cookie makes it amazing!! But I digress... It n my opinion, the FF chocolate chip cookie is very comparable to Levain. We ate it fresh so the inside was still warm a little bit gooey, although I feel like Levain is a bit more gooey/doughy. There is a ton of chocolate chips mixed in, like Levain although if you get the two chip at Levain, then not as much; and if you get chocolate chip walnut at Levain, then probably more. I think the outside of Levain's cookies have a little more crisp, so maybe more butter or cooked longer. Ultimately though, I think pretty comparable overall when comparing chip to chip; but once you throw in the dark chocolate peanut butter, no contest. read more

I didn't even know about this place until I passed by it while walking around downtown. But since it was close to valentines weekend a lot of people were coming in and out of the store. They do make designs on pictures that you give them, but it will come out in bulk. They were giving out samples of their perishable ones (not the ones with faces). All were yummy. Just remember that they sell out of the seasonal ones fairly quickly and that each of the ones with designs on it last for 30 days. read more
