came to this store assuming that their customer service was going to be of the highest level. Very disappointed. I purchased a leach (BB-Buddy Belt) aporoximately $80.00. The leach unravelled at the handle. Took it back a week later only to be told by Joann that the store policy does not accept returns, replacements, etc. must go through the vendor. i explained it was a faulty merchandise. I seriously have been wanting to check out this shop for probably 2 years now. It seems it was never the right time till today... Totally blown away with this little gem of a shop! When I walked in, it was immediately clear that this store is about quality and style! Yes, we all know dogs have a seriously great sense of style - equal to their puppy parents! The quality part of my statement: these clothes and accessory items are made well with top materials and care. It shows too that they have been made with you four legged kid's comfort, safety, and yes, style in mind foremost. I will say, when you get these points met in people clothing, you pay for them accordingly. This holds true for the fur person clothing items here too. But again, isn't Fluffy or Rex worth it? Brenda was working when I went in and she was amazing! Took time to fully answer my questions and explain different styles/sizes/etc. I hope this store realizes how lucky they are to have her! She's another main reason to visit. I didn't purchase any clothing today as much as I wanted to buy everything in sight. My lil one wasn't with me. Bring your baby to try on in store as once you purchase you can not return or exchange due to hygienic reasons. I am so pleased to hear this as the policy! Go guys! read more

Coming from Austin (my place of residence), I have a sizable selection of pet stores to chose from when shopping for my baby. While visiting some family in Houston for the weekend, I decided to stop into Funny Fur and check out their dog carrier selection and products. I will say that I LOVE this little boutique. It is unlike any other dog boutique here in Austin, and, while their products tend to be pricey, they carry high quality, harder to find items (such as Sleepy Pod, Louisdog, and more). Their website (www.funnyfur.com) is also comprehensive and detailed, and offers even more products than their storefront. Funny Fur has a large variety of trendy dog carriers, many that look more like purses, and an AWESOME selection of shampoos (Doberman lovers, get your Isle of Dog here!!). In addition to their nicer products (they great selection of cute custom collars and leather harnesses), they also carry standard products, like Zukes, Planet Dog, and Spa! Funny Fur's food selection is definitely not the largest I have seen, but I truly believe they carry some of the best dog foods on the market and exclude lower quality foods from their shelves. In addition to dog goodies, Funny Fur does sell cat products and toys, although I cannot vouch for the variety or quality of the products as I do not have a cat. Overall, I think this store has great quality products and a large variety to chose from, but, most importantly, has an awesome, helpful staff! Regardless of whether I love what a store can provide, I am often only driven to write reviews for a business if the staff or a particular employee exceeds my expectations. Brenda, the employee (not sure, maybe owner??) working the day I visited Funny Fur (January 11, 2015), was TREMENDOUSLY helpful, friendly, and personable. She spent time assisting me without being pushy with sales or ignoring other customers in the store. Despite her being the only one working the floor and register, she did not neglect any of the customers (from what I saw), and was prompt at getting me checked out when I was ready to leave. 5-star customer service and the reason I can comfortable and confidently rate this business 5-star. read more

This place is AMAZING. The pregnant Asian lady helped us SO much. We got the cod bone sticks for our puppies. We are from Fort Lauderdale and we got the perfect winter clothes for our dogs. The Asian lady who helped us knew their sizes from just looking at the picture of them. She was so sweet. The store is so pretty!!! pretty things come pricey!!! my jaw straight up dropped when I saw a blinged out dog leash for $200. It wasn't even made with real diamonds...they were rhinestones!!!!! come on people!!!! I know sometimes you just gotta buy something ridiculous and expensive but that is just stupid! no, I did not get it! I got some dog treats and a key chain for my mom. I love funny fur. It is more expensive than your petsmart and Walmart but they have organic toys and shampoo that other stores do not offer. The toys I get from here for my miniature dog cost anywhere from $5-13. I love the shampoo line called isle of dog. My dog smells so good after we use his shampoo on her. I use the whitening and primrose shampoo. One of my fav item is the flea and tick spray that's organic and smells good. It helps but DOES NOT KEEP THE MOSQUITOS AWAY. I also use the paw balm for my dogs paws to keep it soft. They have dog strollers, dog necklaces, barrettes and bows and all types of organic foods. My dog loves the trachea ( it's long so u do have to cut it up once u come home) and the duck feet. I think the dick feet are $0.75 each. If u love ur dog and want to check out other options, I would recommends this place. read more

Since getting my two puppies, I've been going crazy spoiling them with only the best. When I discovered Louis Dog products, I discovered Funny Fur. I wanted to order from them online but they charge a restocking fee if you want to send something back. Fortunately, their store is in Houston so I figure I would go to their store when I visited my family. Well, it's Thanksgiving weekend, I'm in town, and one of the first things I wanted to do was go to Funny Fur. I was hoping they would be offering their Black Friday online deals in store but they only offered a small discount on dog beds. I was still determined to buy some Louis Dog products for my little girl, Lucy. Unfortunately, what they offer online is not the same as in store. There was a small section of Louis Dog clothing and none of them were the puffer vests or sweaters I was looking for. I also couldn't find the Louis Dog harnesses, food mats, or necklace. Okay, no problem- my friend sees a cute Dog (Juicy) Couture sweater but oh no- they don't have Lucy's size. Then, my brother notices some neat leather harnesses but oh no- they don't have a matching lead. I'm hoping I can find a Susan Lanci dog collar in brown but oh no- they again, don't have the right size. Okay... I can't make it a trip wasted so I eventually, I find some Louis Dog hair pins. My brother finds some key covers and pays before me. One thing goes my way- they give him a 10% off coupon with his receipt and he gives it to me. So... I decide to go ahead and get the leather harness and I pair it with a Paul Frank lead. I also buy a small bag of dog food (10% discount doesn't apply to it). The three hair pins, harness, lead, and small bag of dog food costs me $120. As we leave, I take a look at their window display and what do I see- the Dog Couture sweater we were looking at and it looks like it might be the right size. So our trip isn't over yet... we go back in and ask about the sweater. It's a good fit for Lucy and I buy one more thing. In the end, I give the store 3 stars (A-OK) for these reasons: 1. Every time I asked for something in small, I had no luck. Small must have been their best selling size because that's what we needed. The salesperson told me they have a lot of stock of larger sizes but limited smaller sizes. If they are aware of this, they should do a better job of keeping it in stock. 2. They also don't stock everything they have online. I had a shopping list but couldn't find many of the things I wanted. The salesperson never offered to get them for me. 3. If you buy anything from this store, ALL SALES ARE FINAL. That's kind of crazy. I would never want to buy gifts here or buy anything without my dogs present. That's just not a good business practice. You don't get long-term customers that way. I'm glad I got to experience this store once. It was still fun and I fulfilled my curiosity but I probably won't shop here again. Edited on 11/25/12: I just discovered that store and online do not have matching prices. An item I purchased (and an item I almost purchased) in store are clearance online. When I called to ask for a price adjustment, I was told that the price difference was to account for shipping charges. If that were true, then the whole site would offer better prices. I was also told that there are rarely ever sales in the store. They will not adjust my purchase. My rating just changed to 2 stars. read more

Went into Funny Fur to find some food for my German Shepherds. They have a great selection of natural pet foods and treats. The sales associate working was very helpful and knowledgeable. Our dogs had a wonderful time here. The associates here were so nice and gave them treats during our visit. Got some great food and treats. My dogs love the stuff we got and after a month, their coats look great! This is the best pet store in River Oaks and one of the best pet stores inside the loop! read more

My Yorkie and I love Funny Fur!! She is a little bit of a spoiled brat and loves her stuff from funny fur. She is extremely picky with food and loves their food and treat selection. On top of all the great stuff we both love the store is always clean, smells and looks nice which is not always the case with stores (especially pet stores). Very good experience. My fiancé and I took our two (HUGE) Great Danes into the store with us and we were greeted by a warm employee (I believe it was on Saturday). We were worried that they wouldn't be accepted due to their size, however, she welcomed them the same. She was very attentive, taking the time to show us around and make recommendations for food for our pups-would definitely return because of our interaction with her. I read the reviews about the pricey selection, however, it seems relatively easy to steer clear of those things but still get what you need. Not to mention the experience is 10x better than anything you'd receive at Petco or Petsmart. I'd recommend visiting at least once! read more

No returns for size issue or any reason really. I was NOT told at time of check out about no returns. So when I tried to return a harness, due to the fact that I had bought for my out of town grandmother and she said she found something finally that she could figure out how to put on her dog, I was sorely disappointed that I had to keep a harness that I cannot use. So as a "compromise" they let me return but I had to spend all of the money on the same day purchase. No money back no store credit. I was told that this is so they don't have to tell people no returns when items have blatantly used because its too hard to deal with. I had the harness for 12 hours not sized for my dog and tags still on. How about you have a return policy that protects the owner while not penalizing the customers wanting to buy higher dollar items (that are not actually able to be ordered in the store). Oh and store credit was unable to be used on ordering the items they don't have on the shelves. They have cute stuff but make sure you take your dog with you or else!!! read more

Very cute items in the store. The girl that was working at the time I visited was a bit too nervous about my dogs walking around as if they were going to rip into things or defecate somewhere, new girl apparently. But, when the other seasoned employee came, she was much more relaxed and it felt like she wanted us there. We ended up buying a few things which my dogs are still really happy about and enjoying a lot. Very cute store, a bit pricey...but all in all, a great pet store. read more

A cute little pet shop that caters to people who like to spend a lot of their little furry friends. I wondered in there to get a birthday gift for my little Lucy, and found some cute things. I found a little birthday cupcake squeak toy, which she loves, a birthday cake mix (they had vanilla, peanut butter, and another type) which you can make yourself. They have all kinds of goodies, from shampoos, dog food, dog beds, bling bling leashes, and lots and lots of doggie clothes. I love dressing up my pup, but these prices were a little steep for myself. They did have lots of treats, lotions and potions, anything you would ever want for your dog. Service was friendly and quick. You also get a discount if you check in on yelp. If you like to spoil your pup, def. worth a stop in. read more

This place is not very practical for our environment in Houston. It is mainly all clothes for small dogs and not much for medium and large dogs. They also don't stock much food options either. My husband and I came here to look for food and treats for our dog that has food allergies. The salesperson was very friendly and helpful and was very attentive and knowledgable. She heard out our concerns and gave us a bunch of different recommendations so that we could pick. The prices for the food and treats are comparable to online shops that sell the same products. They also carry a variety of products to choose from. Aside from the food and treats, the other items range from pricey to extremely pricey, but I think it's to be expected given the location of the shop and the customers that they serve. I visited this location today as a recommendation and unfortunately I was very disappointed with my experience. The sales associate didn't acknowledge my presence and then after asking for assistance she was very stand off towards me. My puppy is currently on Primal so I asked for any alternative food suggestions and she was unable to help me. After being at the location for about 5 minutes another customer walked in and was given excellent customer service.... there was 3 Caucasian customers in the store the same time as myself and was greeted and assisted and unfortunately I didn't experience the same level of service. After I selected a bag of food I then decided to try one more time to ask for help with hair bows and treats and still the sales person was hesitant and brief when speaking to me. I will not be returning and will spread the word to all my pet lovers. read more

Don't be ashamed, I was once like you, thinking I was treating my dog to high quality food and pet care products. Little did I know, that couldn't be further from the truth. Before I came to Funny Fur my impression of dog food was, "If he eats it, it must be good". Wrong. Funny enough dogs will eat just about anything you put in their bowls. Which is why it is up to you, me and every owner out there to look out for our naive, little fur children. I purchased $300 in Buddy Belt harnesses and leashes on Saturday February 22. When I looked at their Facebook page discovered there was a 20% Walk sale on harnesses and leashes that day. When I called on Monday to find out how to receive the 20% they informed me that was for on line purchases. I then inquired about returns and was told I could not return. Although some of the items are out of our price range, you can always find a deal on the sale rack. What is really important to us is our pets nutrition. They mark down some bags of super premium dog and cat food because some of the bags are expired, allowing those people on a budget provide the best for your pet.
