My husband and I had a delicious meal here last Friday. I have to say it is one of the best meals we've had since moving to Denver. We started with the fried chicken in sweet chili sauce. It was absolutely amazing. A plate piled high of fried chicken, what more can you ask for? The chicken was moist and packed full of flavor. We also had the beef short rib BBQ which was also superb. Great flavor and huge portions. We had a to go box full of goodies to take home with us. The BBQ dinners come with tons of sauces and sides. Everything is absolutely delicious. Great Korean BBQ along with other traditional faves. On our stop, we ordered Kalbe Beer and Pork Belly, both excellent choices. From the kitchen we also added some fried Chicken gizzards and Fire-esque hot Chicken. Along with the array of great sides, Kim-Chi, pickled this and that, I've got nothing to complain about. Beware KFC lovers: not exactly yang-nyeom chicken like you'd remember from Korea! 1 star off for the chicken: sauce drenched (meaning soggy, not crispy skin...), only warm to the touch and most importantly NOT yang-nyeom flavored. Barely spicy, tasted more like Thai chili sweet sauce. Missing that slight gochu flavor. Also the sweet white radish cubes didn't taste very fresh. 1 star off for facilities: like another user mentioned, urinal was [still] broken and full of urine. No paper towels to dry hands + the hand drying machine didn't work = wet handprints on my pants. Atmosphere reminded me of similar bars in Korea and the service was decent (I went at 8 pm on a Sunday though, only two other tables). A little pricey but for some reason that's the standard for every korean food restaurant in the US. Food is good! We always get the yangnyum chicken whenever we come here. The ddukbokki is also delicious. It feels like they don't want us as customers though. The service is always slower than other comparable places. Maybe it's because we don't get drinks like many of their other customers do? Food is awesome! Fun environment for group of friends. Maybe not somewhere to take your visiting in-laws.Yang neum chicken is a must. Tastes the same as It would in Korea. The owners cook, serve, bus tables they do everything there so they are very busy but are available if you need something. Don't be shy to ask for things. It's a Korean restaurant people not a five star restaurant where they have to stand by your table at all time. Their baby squid dish is amazing too! A typical Korean bar where you can sit at a table order massive amounts of soju and delicious Korean food. Definitely recommend the fried chicken the sauce on it (the sauce is bomb!) I ordered the sauce on the side before and felt there wasn't enough sauce. Six of us, ordered clam noodle soup, fried chicken, and big plate of webfoot octopus. Fried chicken was better than previous owner. Clam soup had onions that was maybe spoiled we complained to wait person and he argued with us that they received new onions on same day and nothing was done. Then we proceed to eat octopus dish and it had same problem with onions that was cooked with octopus. Also webfoot octopuses are known for its chewing texture but this dish may had spoiled octopuses. Complained again and nothing was done. We paid 98 bucks and left all food on the table except chickens, had to find another restaurant to eat dinner. The service here is awesome. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. The food is great, had the bulgogi and kalbi and both had tons of flavor! You must order 2 before they let you cook it at the table, otherwise they cook it in the back. Side dishes were standard but I like how they gave us a huge bowl of salad (since I don't eat rice). Giving a 1 star is probably way too generous. Don't go here is you aren't a fluent Korean speaker because they had me wait for 30 minutes before getting asked what we wanted to eat. I'm a pretty patient person when it comes to places who are busy but multiple tables got served drinks and appetizers before us, preferably those who were elderly and spoke Korean. After trying to get someone to even take down our order and the server ended up giving us a pincher of beer that we ordered but did not give us any glasses and then never came back to give us any. Ended up walking out. Definitely a complete waste of an hour waiting on servers who never came. Sad because this place has decent food and cheap beer but has terrible service. I LOVE the food at Funny Plus. This place is good for big groups because the portions are huge! The dish I almost always order is the Budae Jjigae (Army Stew).. it comes in a pot in top of a burner. There's so much of everything in one pot: pork, hot dogs, spam, dumplings, ramen, rice cakes. If you run out of broth or ramen, the servers will give you more if you ask for it. Another dish that's surprisingly good is the corn cheese. It's literally is just corn and cheese but it's so good! It comes in out in a cast iron plate so the cheese stays melted. It's kinda fun to see the long strings of melted cheese after you scoop some up to eat. Oh, and a dish I can't forget to mention is the KFC (Korean Fried Chicken). You can order it tossed in a sweet chili sauce or plain with sauce on the side. I personally like it plain because it's more crispy that way. Sometimes I find that there is too much breading for my liking. That's just me though.. some of my friends love the extra breading. Overall, this is something you HAVE to order when you visit this place because it's what's they're known for.. and it will not disappoint! The reason I didn't give this place one more star is because of the service. I've heard a few times that if you are Korean or speak Korean, you'll get better service and maybe it's because the servers don't speak English well. Every time I come, I always have to ask for what I want more than 2 times. I also have to ask them to refill my water several times too. For me, the food outweighs the crappy customer service though. Arrived 640pm, waitress asks if we wanted a Korean bbq table. I say no as she frantically finds us a normal table on the other side. Sit down and she comes back with water and menus. Waited 25 minutes to order. Ordered half/half fried chicken $14.99 and the tofu, pork and kimchi dish $19.99. Our chicken came and highly dissapointed. With all the Yelp reviews of it being delicious and also being that I'm Korean...it was def not yangnyum chicken. Yangnyum chicken usually consists of fermented red chili paste aka gochujang, honey or corn syrup, garlic, etc. It was a make-shift bbq, ketchup with nutmeg or cinnamon seasoning blend...not good at all and warm, not even hot. The original chicken was moist but crispy crunch like its been re-fried 2 to 3x as if it has been sitting out and greasy. Waited 30 minutes to even flag down 1 of 3 waitresses working to get the check. It was busy for a Monday night which Yelp has the place being Closed today. I do not blame the poor waitress who looked 15 yo with glasses because she was run ragged and she looked miserably worn out. It is now 810pm and finally got the check and a box for leftover chicken. Also dishes do not come with rice. That is an extra $1.50. Very dissapointing and well, we can say we tried it but won't be back because of the lack of customer service and over-pricing. I discovered this place through a friend that missed food from Korea so she found this place and took me along for the ride. Initially entering the restaurant we were not greeted for about 10 minutes until they saw us standing there and came and got us. After we sat down and looked over the menu another 10mins passed by and the waiter did not come over to check on us to take our order or give us any water. We finally got to order and the food came out looking very delicious! My favorite was the cheesy corn. It came out sizzling on a skillet and when you dipped into the cheese you could see the golden cheese just drip off your fork like butter. We also had some spicy Korean seafood rice cakes. I hit this place up with my cousin. We ordered Galbi and an order of half and half chicken. The gabli was good but it was a little fatty. The chicken was great . If we could of eaten another order of them we would of gotten them. I also had Soju which was also good. The food here is really good and I love eating Korean bbq with my friends. They play pretty cool music and the atmosphere and interior design is very nice. The only slight problem I have is that sometimes the staff can be kinda unfriendly. The first couple visits the staff were very talkative and nice but on occasion some of them came off as rude. The first time I came here I went up to get the check but they told me to go to my seat and wait. Same with a couple more times I ate there. And one day I pressed the button so I could get my check since that's what happened the last couple times. The lady came down and I asked her for the check and her whole vibe was unfriendly and rude. She seemed annoyed that I pressed the button and when she went back up to get it she had another server come down and bring me the check. I didn't mean to overly use the the button but it made me kind of uncomfortable to seem like a bother.
