I'm fully obsessed with KBBQ, and Kkoki is one of my current favorites in Denver. Located steps from Union Station, this spot is perfect for a fun, interactive meal, especially if you're lucky enough to have a friend who enjoys doing the cooking. The experience here is exactly what I want from Korean BBQ: lively, satisfying, and easy to settle into for a while. The cheese corn is an absolute must and easily one of the best sides on the table. The steamed egg was fluffy and comforting, and the meats were the real highlight. The pork belly was rich and well cut, the bulgogi was flavorful, and the short ribs were tender and cooked beautifully. Add a few bottles of soju and suddenly you've lost track of time in the best way. This is the kind of place you go with friends, order generously, and just enjoy the night. Cost does not equal to value at this KBBQ establishment, maybe due to the location. Everything was super pricy and parking seemed a little tricky.. thankfully we visited on a late Sunday afternoon. Food for the most part was tasty and the service was decent enough. Everything is a la carte. On Sundays they were doing buy one get one draft beers and that is about the only thing that is considered a deal $9 for 2 draft beers. We weren't sure if the banchan refill were free as the menu indicated extra sides are more $$. So we didn't get anymore banchan than the ones they brought over. The pajeon was limpy and lack of caramelization... I did not try the corn cheese but I was told it was very sweet... We ordered the combo deals that's a tofu soup with a grilled meat of your choice for about $30-38 a person, depending on the meat of your choice. The meat is tasty, the bulgogi is a little bit on the sweet side... and the tofu soup... it's probably the most saddest, mediocre Korean tofu soup I've ever had, and essentially $20 a pop - definitely not worth it. The broth flavor was good, the soup literally had tofu and the meat of your choice... no veggies, no kimchi, no egg... The employees were nice but they didn't come check in on how the meal was until towards the end... we had asked for more napkins when we sat down and the napkins never showed up. Mandatory 20% tips added to a party of 5+. At least they called out that the price was with tips added. I really hope to like this place more... but looks like I'd need to trek back to Aurora for quality and better pricing. read more

There aren't many Korean BBQ establishments downtown, so we were excited to try this place out. We ordered three meats: LA Galbi, thick pork belly and bulgogi, along with spicy kimchi tofu soup, corn cheese and a bottle of soju. The quality of the meat is good, the portions were big enough for the two of us, but definitely would not be enough if there were more in our party. This isn't an AYCE place like many other Korean BBQ restaurants, so expect to pay per meat selection. The prices are comparable to other non-AYCE restaurants in Aurora though. Total for the two of us: about $200, which included the tip. We dined on a weeknight so there wasn't a wait but I assume there is one on the weekends since the restaurant is fairly small. The service was fast and friendly and they checked on us often. Brush up on your parallel parking since only street parking is available. read more

Don't get me wrong the food is decent, it just feels a bit overpriced. Maybe because our group bought one of the platters it just felt like we were paying for the aesthetics on top of food. Our servers were a bit forgetful on utensils and when we needed another drink we did have to flag them down but in all fairness it was towards the end of the day so maybe they were focused on cleaning unused areas. read more

This was a wonderful Korean BBQ experience for my husband and our fam. The restaurant has a fancy chill vibe to it when you walk in. We were seated immediately and our waiter was attentive. A+ for customer service. The pork belly was my favorite grilled option. It was cut the perfect thickness. With the brisket and shrimp orders, it was plenty of food for the four of us. It also comes with a number of sides and veggies for the grill. It's a little pricey. Expect to spend around $30 per person at dinner. They only go up from there. Very good kbbq place with excellent service. Everything is a la carte and not AYCE so it does get costly. Make sure you look at the menu prices before you go. Anyways I paid about $200 for 2 of us. We got bulgogi soup, japchae, galbi and samgyupsal and a flavored soju. Everything was delicious so I don't mind paying more than a normal kbbq place. Delicious Korean BBQ joint on the outskirts of downtown. They have great lunch specials, but usually there is one person working the floor, so it can be slow. However, still super friendly. It is plenty of food for lunch, so maybe not an everyday place, but can't wait to return. read more

Bibimbap (number 22 I think) was delicious. They bring you a bowl, then ingredients in separate smaller bowls, so you can dose them however you like. Personally I just dumped all of them and mixed it up for a minute, and loved it. Very substantial/filling too. Mango drink was pretty good too. Waiter was nice. read more

Pork belly was very good and fresh. Beef brisket had too much fat in it. But was still very good. Tofu stew was delicious. Bonchon- kimchi was too fresh for me. It needed to ferment still. Staff were very friendly and efficient. The food was so amazing but not sure because if we were starving all day but honestly portions are generous. I love the stew especially on a cold day. Location is easy to find parking but may have bbq smell on your clothes but it was so bad. The kimchi pancake/jeon I was hoping for it to be more on the crispy side but it was more fluffy. Located conveniently near a lot of offices in downtown Denver, the restaurant is pretty spacious. I ordered the mild combination soon tofu, and it was really comforting and tasty on a cold day! The first time I came here I got BBQ for 3- the bill was close to $200 and tasty wonderful. The second time I came with just my wife and I. Kkoki was a fantastic dining experience, definitely worth a visit if you're in the mood for Korean BBQ, or just huge portions of good food in general. The tteokbokki was a great dish, with lots of chewy rice cakes in a nice stew. I do wish the stew had more spice, but it was still very flavorful. The seafood pancake was also good, definitely needed some sauce to bring home the taste. And then for bbq, the bulgogi was excellent. I could have made a whole meal out of the meat alone, it was so juicy and marinated to perfection. Thankfully, the sides were also delicious, making a great entree even better. As we stepped inside, we were greeted by a lovely atmosphere despite the bustling activity. The scenery was quite pleasant. Unfortunately, this location doesn't offer an all-you-can-eat option for a flat rate. However, they do have a choice of three options suitable for a party of two to three people. Given the snowy weather and chill in the air, we ordered this option along with some warm soup. I also chose a side of corn and cheese, as well as a vegetable and egg dish. My wife and I visited this restaurant to celebrate my birthday while on our trip to Denver, CO. When she asked what I wanted for my birthday, I told her Korean food, so I found this spot and it did not disappoint. Initially, we thought it was far from our hotel, so we took an Uber there, but after the meal, we decided to walk back to get some exercise after enjoying all the delicious food. The restaurant offers a wide variety of side dishes, though I was a little disappointed that they didn't have cucumber kimchi, which is one of my favorites. When we looked over the menu, we were overwhelmed by the options it was a lot of food for just the two of us. We ended up going with the spicy pork and Kalbi ribs, which were both incredible but definitely more than we could handle. Neither of us finished our rice, which is rare for us, especially coming from Texas, where we usually clean our plates. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere. It wasn't too busy when we went, but it still had a lively energy. The staff were super friendly and did a great job explaining the dishes to us. One of the things I loved was the setup of the tables. The grill did an amazing job of keeping the smoke contained, so they didn't need the usual overhead fans to clear it out. This was, by far, the closest thing to authentic Korean food I've had since my time in the military when I was stationed in South Korea. read more

This was our first time eating Korean BBQ and we can't wait to go back. Sadly we live two hours away. We had the $99 two person meal. It includes seasoned beef, spicy pork and thinly sliced unseasoned brisket with 8 sides and choice of 3 stews or fried dumplings. We opted for the kimchi stew. Everything was delicious. Came here for dinner because we wanted some Korean BBQ and it was close to our hotel. We used to live in Manhattan, so we have a high standard for Korean food. I think if this place would be in NYC, would rate it lower. Service was friendly and attentive, they helped us cook and brought refills. It is very laid back place with some TVs on background playing Korean pop and some soccer. They also have outdoor seating. We had spicy chicken and spicy shrimp bbq, and food was pretty decent I would say but nothing amazing. Also was pricey especially considering that place is not upscale at all inside. After the closure of Ssam on Champa, thought there was no other Korean restaurant downtown. Although Menya had some Korean dishes, but technically it was still more a Japanese ramen shop than a Korean restaurant. Just recently found out there was another Korean restaurant, Kkoki Korean BBQ, opened about a year ago just across the Millennium Bridge at the Union Station end of the 16th Street. Besides its namesake BBQ, it also had most of the Korean staples, such as soups, stews, bibimbap, cold noodles, and less commonly seen spicy stir fried squid, tofu kimchi, cheese buldak, kimchi fried rice, Korean hot pot and much more. This was a franchised restaurant with locations throughout the States. The restaurant was bright, spacious with terrace seating and had a more modern ambience compared to the Korean restaurants on South Havana. They offered lunch specials from 11:30 to 3:00 from Tuesday to Friday. Customers could get beef bulgogi, pork bulgogi, or chicken bulgogi with fried dumplings at less than $16. Ordering these BBQ items with soon tofu instead fried dumplings was about $30, but came with rice, salad and side dishes. Ordered the beef bulgogi with mild combination soon tofu. Both the Korean BBQ and soon tofu were as tasty if not more than the ones on South Havana. It was a rarity to find such an authentic Korean restaurant downtown. The side dishes were not as elaborate with only six side dishes, including kimchi, radishes, bean sprouts, broccoli and fish cake, but right portion for a lunch combo. Although requiring a short walk from the other end of the 16th Street, with its wide selection and authenticity, this probably would become one of my most frequented restaurants downtown. read more

Usually kbbq places are super smoky or have huge noisy vents above each table and you go home and clothes smell like meat but I noticed their grills have built in fans, so smoke is minimal Cons - - because location is more central, parking can be harder. No lot so look for street parking - price? So I always get a craving for Asian food whenever I travel. It was no different during my recent trip to Denver. I found Kkoki and read great reviews and decided to give it a try. Service was great - everyone (all the staffers) went out of their way to use proper Korean manners too - it was really endearing. I originally made an RSVP for 4, then 10, and then we had 12 show up. We did a couple of the giant feasts plus a couple more orders of meat, plus a bunch of drinks, haemul pajuns, mandu. Everything was very good and delicious. Good decent banchan too! The only thing was the rice came out a little hard... We gave them extra tip (on top of the automatic gratuity for the large group) because of the great service and effort. We finally found a consistent Korean bbq! The only thing I'll say is they require to sit at the bar if you don't have a reservation and you can only have a reservation to sit at any of the four (or more) tops if have 4 people. So next time around we'll invite 2 other people instead of treat this as a date night spot. I ordered the Beef Bulgogi Combo Plate 소불고기 콤보, which was a sweet but savory marinated beef served with side of rice, salad, and fried dumplings. The combo plate was incredibly generously sized, so much so that I only ate half one day, and half the next. I've never had this style of food before, however it was very good - incredibly dynamic flavors, the meat was very tender, and the veggies were very good, along with the dumplings. The sides that come with it are different pickled things and kimchi, and were a great accompaniment. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu! read more

Run don't walk over to Kkoki for a hidden gem of Korean food nestled in downtown Denver. This location is just in front of Confluence park with free parking along Little Raven St. I was thrilled to see that this spot was being used by a new Korean BBQ restaurant, which has a variety of lunch specials that are great value for a team lunch or casual group lunch. They're not shy with their side dishes, providing you a nice variety of veggies, pickled sides, fish cakes, and authentic kimchi. I ordered the seafood pajeon (a savory Korean style pancake that's loaded with veggies and seafood) as well as the bulgogi combo that came with a plentiful amount of sides and two fried dumplings. I thought the meal was a steal- lots of great options and enough for leftovers for the next day. Above all, the owners are absolute gems. Super attentive and kind, they make you feel right at home. I usually don't go for pork, but the pork on the hibachi grill was superb. Probably the best pork I've ever had. The servers worked together and were so friendly and genuine. The sides were fresh and they brought out more when we requested a refill. We will be back. So fresh and homemade. The sauces were amazing. Soup and salad also great.
