Leaving a review after 2nd visits during lunch time. I personally think this Korean restaurant shows "sincerity" into their food. At least for lunch combo, the thoughtful assortment of main dish and side dishes as well as soup of the day are very satisfactory. Their food is little bit more on a savory side compared to other Korean restaurants who use too many spices. Before I met Baekga, i was pretty disappointed in local franchises of Korean eateries in Colorado, but Baekga not only they have very calm and toned down atmosphere for pleasant meals, it is the venue I would actually bring my visitors to. The location is little far for me to explore their dinner menus but I would love to when I am nearby next time. Champagne kimchi was inspiring. I never had any kind of Kimchi taste like this. I really praise for the creativity. It would be a good pair with a variety of food such as charcuterie board, katsu, sausage dish, barbecue, and simple with wine! I personally liked Dakgangjeong, Beef radish soup (soup of the day), and champagne kimchi from my visit. I was looking for galbi tang and the closest location near Westminster was 30 minutes away (so not close at all). I'm glad we came and discovered another restaurant we can add to our list. It's def a more modern Korean restaurant from the interior alone. But food was delicious. I was interested in a lot of items on the menu u so it was hard to choose from. The dakgalbi lunch special was an actual full on lunch with sides and soup. The galbi tang was pretty good. The meat is some of the best I've had in CO. It was very tender and fell off the bone very easily. The La galbi was so good and flavorful. When it's mixed with the onions and veggies and rice, everything tastes really good combined. I would skip on the pancakes because they were a little burnt. We saw a different one come out and it was also burnt. Otherwise, eat around because it's quite flavorful. read more

How can I resist dining at yet another 5-star Korean restaurant in Aurora? BaekGa lives up to its hype, although it was way more crowded than I expected for a weekend lunch hour. Going to calibrate my expectations for next time because I was in a bit of a rush between meetings. Still, the staff was very friendly and they were clearly nonstop hustling to get it all done. This time, I ordered the Pork Belly Kimbap and Tteokbokki. I wanted something meatier, but I couldn't risk falling into a food coma. The Tteokbokki was to die for - probably the best I've had in Colorado. The Kimbap (there were lots of meat options) was delicious as well. It was quite a huge roll. Condiments were presented for us with explanations throughout. The presenter was right on in every way he handled the questions and answers. Braised short ribs, beef bulgogi, sweet potato glass noodles... what a meal! They offer very nice lunch specials and I can see their business growing in time as the word will get out more and more about this fine restaurant right here in the Lowry business district. We don't usually go out for lunch, let alone ball out, but we did both on a Friday afternoon at BaekGa and have zero regrets. First, the restaurant is beautiful. Definitely a great pick for a date night, provided you don't mind rolling yourself home after lots of yummy food! Our server was great. Granted, we were the only customers, but he still went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, answer our questions, provide recommendations, and even share some insight into Korean culinary practices and traditional preparations. We definitely over-ordered, but everything was delicious. Even the banchan and simple, broth-based beef soup that came with my husband's lunch special were hard to put down! We started with the tteobbokki, which was so good and a huge serving. Probably best split with a larger group, but we couldn't resist! The rice cakes were delightfully chewy, the sauce had the perfect balance of sweet and spicy, and I enjoyed the long strips of fishcake, which I'd never tried in this dish before. For our mains, my date had the bulgogi and loved it. Our server politely advised me that we didn't both need everything that came with the lunch specials (this was good advice), so I got the LA Galbi (short rib) bowl and we shared all the little dishes (banchan) that came with the beef bulgogi. We ate very well and took home a full bag of leftovers. The prices aren't cheap, but the quality is worth it, the portions are generous, and the service is wonderful. Amazing place for Korean food. I would say that all of the dishes we tried were very flavorful and authentic tasting. The pork belly had a smoky flavor, and the seafood pancake (had egg which was different) was chewy and umami. The tuna kimbap was so jam packed with veggies and tuna! I would say that the nutella hoddeok was also incredibly soft and sweet, but I think they ferment the dough themselves, and I could taste some alcohol in it. We're pretty excited to have BaekGa in our neighborhood! It's a cozy korean food spot with an unexpectedly elevated ambiance. When looking at the menu, you might think It could be considered a bit pricey, but everything is plenty of food for sharing, particularly the mains which are definitely made for at least two people. Between the ban chan and some of the extras, we still had food left. The bulgogi and the galbi were nice and tender and flavorful. The sundubu stew was equally full of flavor. The pancakes are huge! You could definitely fill up on those before your main meal ever makes it out. We enjoyed everything we had, except maybe the champagne kimchi, as there was really just not much depth of flavor there, which is a bit disappointing because they consider it a signature dish. What a lovely restaurant! This spot has been on my list for years and I cant believe I waited so long to try it. Upon walking in through the door, we were warmly greeted by the host. As someone who is not too familiar with South Korean food, we were so excited to try a bit of everything. The banchan plate was so fun to try, as a fan of kimchi and all pickled things, every bite was heaven. I could eat this food everyday and be so happy, especially the spring onion/seafood pancake. The pancake batter itself was subtly sweet and it was so satisfyingly crispy. It did not feel too oily or heavy either, the sauce served with it was very light which added a nice constrast. Due to the increase in egg prices all around, our waiter kindly let us know that they would have to upcharge our order of the veggie kimbap. It was worth the extra dollar or so and we really appreciated the clear communication of the staff. The service was okay -- not as attentive esp only being one of two parties dining. I was excited to check out a new Korean restaurant that wasn't in the typical Havana St area where most of them are located. Looking at their menu, it looked like I was going to try some genuine Korean dishes. Overall, the food is mediocre. Definitely not bad but nothing to write home about either. The kimchi jjigae (kimchi soup) had too much pepper flakes, not enough salt, and not enough kimchi/meat. The spicy pork was decent but needed a little more flavor. The side dishes tasted similar to what you get premade at H Mart. The prices are much too high for what is offered especially for the lunch menu. $23-$28 for a single item lunch special with minimal and small side dishes? On top of that, they charge $5/bucket of lettuce wrap, $1-$2 per side dish for refill, and $3 for rice? That is crazy. Booths were comfortable and separated with a low booth back for privacy. Lights with Edison Style bulbs Service: Was effective and friendly. Not overly attentive nor lacking of attention. When I dined here there were about half full capacity. Food: What I ordered - Crispy Shrimp Kimbap (Korean rolls) big rolls. Enough to share or as a meal. Good balanced flavors. Not traditional by any means. Two biters Spring Onion Jeon (Pancake) lots of green onions and crispy edges. Only thing I would do differently is heat it more and crisp the middle. Summary: For the portion size, food quality, and dining ambiance, price was about right. BaekGa, meaning "family of Baek," exists as a rare treat in a sea of mediocre and overpriced restaurants so pervasive in the greater Denver area. From the simple and side accoutrements to the, in my case, main course, that being the beef bulgogi bowl, Chef Mina Kim invests a great deal to insure excellence in all of her menu. Everything was fresh, pungent and of a high quality. Aside from the beautiful location, service was exemplary, with Sean, my server, even bringing me out 4 different varieties of kimchi to savor: spring, hot, winter and I can't recall the fourth. He did this in an unsolicited way. Pricing is quite reasonable. The extra hot sauce that was brought at my request is truly hot. I didn't expect much of the Asian food scene in Denver, but BaekGa completely took me by surprise. The modernized decor misleads you to believe that this might be another fusion restaurant trying to spin their unique take on Korean food. Among the many traditional Korean dishes listed on their menu, I immediately spotted the Galbijjim. The Spicy Beef Rib Stew that continues to elude the Houston Korean food scene has made an appearance in Denver. My skepticism was on high alert until the waiter finally brings out this HUGE pot of Beef Ribs in big chunks, stacked like a mountain with potatoes, rice cakes, carrots, and glass noodles. The meat was extremely tender, and flavor was pretty authentic. Yet my only complaint was that it wasn't spicy. Even though I don't really eat spicy, I felt like this dish was incomplete without the spiciness. And of course anytime KBBQ is available, I go for the LA Galbi as a base guideline on how it compares to other Korean restaurants I've eaten at. And BaekGa's galbi did not disappoint. Tbh his tasted better (had way more flavor) but the bulgogi was also very good. The meat comes with A LOT of onions and a lunch size amount of meat. This restaurant is located in a cute little downtown area. Kind of hard to find parking in the main area. Restaurant has lots of seating but is quite tight. We got sat at a booth under a vent so it kept going from hot to cold. I kept putting my jacket on and taking it off throughout the meal which was uncomfortable. The main bulgogi dish came with two bowls of rice and all of the little appetizer dishes. I'm not usually a fan of pickled veggies so I thought the apps were ok but the bulgogi was very tasty. It looked different from the pictures online- it had more onions than meat in it. But the little meat there was, was tasty. The Dak-Galbhi was recommended to us as the second most popular dish by the waitress. It was a spicy chicken with rice dish. I thought it was meh. Not much flavor once you bite into it. Total was about $90 with tip and tax for 3 people. We were all full. But my taste buds were not fully satisfied. It was okay. read more

Really beautiful interior. The food was mostly really great. The menu has many very common Korean dishes, but also some I haven't seen at other Denver Korean restaurants, so that was a definite plus! I loved the grilled spicy pork! I was impressed by the quality of the meat and portion size. The pork belly is mixed with some veggies and on top of a bed of rice. The meat to rice ratio was perfect. My friend enjoyed the kimbap as well! This restaurant is a part of the mile high food club, and was my first time experiencing this type of "ghost kitchen." There are so many places to choose from and service is fairly fast (10-15 minutes).
