This place has been on my list for a while and finally got the opportunity to try it out. The interior is very nicely decorated. We sat at a semi private table and we were immediately given a pitcher of ice cold water. I was very excited to try the tofu here! We ordered the tofu karaage which was deliciously crunchy and came with a really good sweet sauce. Next came out the banchan which were plentiful (see pic). I was starting to get pretty full at this point! I ordered the tofu kimchi stir fry with pork and it was really good and just the right level of spice. The portion was HUGE. I brought half home. It also came with the choice of white or purple rice. My husband got bibimbap and it came out piping out. He cleared the plate. Service was incredibly quick and friendly. Been wanting to visit for years but always stalled by friends' "so so" comments. Glad I finally came to try Tofu Story for myself. I definitely enjoyed my tofu stew, the tofu was so silky I almost bought some to take home (but couldn't because it needed refrigeration and we weren't heading home right away on that hot day) I also absolutely adored the potato pancake, something I've never had and thought the flavor and texture is so much better than the seafood pancake usually eaten at K-bbq. Gotta love the starch!! Friends ordered grilled meats and I snuck a tiny bit to taste (since I can't handle their level of spiciness! ) they were delicious. The grilled meats and potato pancake go surprisingly well with the purple rice which might have ended up being my most favorite side dish! The grilled fish was ok. I've had better. Met a friend here. She had never tried soon tofu before so she wasn't sure she wanted to commit. I ordered the spicy tofu stew with seafood and she ordered chap chae. The ban Chan was so good. I finally made it to Tofu Story and I can't believe it took me this long. This is one of those spots that just works. Comforting, flavorful, and exactly what I want when I'm craving Korean food. They cover a lot, from BBQ to stews to banchan, and everything feels balanced and well executed. I tried the cheese pork cutlet, wang gyeran jjim (steamed egg), and bulgogi with soon tofu. The cheese pork cutlet surprised me the most. Crispy, cheesy, and full of flavor. I'd go back just for that. The steamed egg was also really solid. Fluffy, well seasoned, and exactly how it should be. The bulgogi with soon tofu is just straight comfort and a great combination. This review is in comparison to the Tofu House I guess. Few more banchan and also choice of white rice or purple rice. However, no stone pot for the rice. Definitely miss putting hot water into the stone pot with leftover rice and let it simmer to finish as a meal. I got the combo tofu soup which was beef and seafood. Oh my god, this place has such amazing food! It was my last meal before leaving Denver and hands down the best comfort food before a 3hr flight back home. The seafood pancake was super crispy that I felt like I could've had the whole thing to myself. The combo meal is such a bang for its bucks! I did the kalbi short rib combo with a seafood soondubu. The quality and amount of food you get for the price is crazy generous. We had a party of 5 and we were stuffed before heading to the airport! The place was pretty empty which made service super quick. The server took our orders pretty quickly then banchan came out afterwards along with appetizers. The server was really nice on making sure our banchan never runs out. The tofu soup came out boiling hot for everyone. I cannot wait to visit this place again next time I am in Denver! Came here on a Wednesday evening with a friend and wow! I can understand the hype. We arrived at 5pm and it was quite quiet but I'd recommend planning ahead if you aim to get there around 6/6:30 as it definitely got busy. Decor is clean and crisp and love that there's a window into the tofu lab - where the magic happens. Our server was happy to give us direction on what to order. We stuck with water so not sure about the beverages but we got a lot of food! A most excellent decision. Opted for a few house specials: Galbi Jjim (braised short rib with veggies in a yummy bubbling broth) and Spicy Marinated Crab (the crab was raw which was interesting; I personally prefer it cooked but fun to try). We also got Cheese Pork Cutlet (amazing), Kimchi Soon Tofu (Spicy kimchi, pork, and tofu stew, great flavor) and Man Doo Soon Tofu (amazing spicy dumplings and tofu stew). We love their banchan, we always ask for a second refill of the salad because it's that good. Very good soon-dubu and their tofu is made in-house. They also have their own craft beer. I must say, their banchan were all so delicious as well. They have a variety of cucumbers, bean sprouts, cabbage, etc. The spice level is very mild too. Stopped by for weekday lunch, and did not expect the food to be SO GOOD. Upon walking in, the restaurant is clean and the waitress was quick to greet us and take our order. After ordering, our waitress brought out banchan, including a fresh green salad with sesame dressing, squid, kimchee, fish cake, bean sprouts, amongst others. Shortly after, the pork bulgogi came out on a sizzling hot plate, along with my sundubu bubbling in a clay pot. Taste wise, everything was absolutely delicious and tasted very authentic. The only improvement I would recommend is to increase the bulgogi meat portion, as it was primarily onions, rather than meat. Tofu Story is not catering to the typical American palate. I am told this is everyday Korean fare. Manage your expectations more for a menu that serves standards without much enhancement or elevation. I am not deeply accustomed to the proper preparations of these Korean dishes so I am speaking as just some guy from Colorado with a decent amount of travel. We started with the Spicy Tofu Ramen. This comes visually impressive as a bubbling black ceramic bowl with a rich broth and ramen noodles. It's very flavorful and if you only enjoy this dish, you will not be disappointed. Next, arrived the Mapo Tofu. In my opinion, this is a disappointment. The tofu falls apart and appears to be added late in the cook as it fails to take on the ample bulgogi and pork sauce that dominates the plate. Again, in my opinion, this dish could be helped by serving it with a batter fried tofu instead of the soft, untreated cubes. It was a better dish as a leftover the next day, served over rice noodles and pan frying a crust onto the now-marinated tofu cubes. I feel the flavor ingratiate present but the preparation is ....lazy. To their credit, the service is attentive (when you realize each table has a call button) and the restaurant space is visually beautiful. read more

Tofu Story blew me away. One of my friends asked me if I like tofu stew and I was so excited to hear about a place to get it. I'd seen Tofu Story advertised on Instagram through different people's reels, but hadn't committed to a visit until my friend took me there. The beef was so tender. I really appreciated that they included a spice scale that included some more mild options. I went with the standard and found it to be totally acceptable in terms of spice. The server got us situated quickly once we got there too. Everything comes out so fast! It was pretty quiet in the restaurant during the happy hour time frame on a Tuesday which was also nice. We started off with the braised rice cakes with spicy sauce and fried tofu. Spicy rice cakes wasn't for me but everyone else loved it. I love tofu so the fried tofu was great. Lightly fried and not soggy with oil. We all ordered the soon tofu combos and we shared the meat platters. We each had to pick a soon tofu of choice. There were 2 kimchi soon tofu, 1 seafood soon tofu, and 1 dumpling soon tofu. I really love the soon tofu here. So delicious. And the purple rice is so yummy to have with the combo! There's an outdoor patio if you're interested in eating outside. There are plenty of seats. Each table comes with a bell to signal a staffs attention. The tables come with a drawer for the utensils. Unfortunately, our table had none so we had to wait a while for them. Service was kinda meh but it looks like there was one person for the entire dining room. It comes with a nice variety of banchan or sidedishes. I didn't know that so I ordered the kimchi soon tofu. But the kimchi was really good. There's a nice variation of spicy and non-spicy sides plus a green salad so you get your veggies in. The kimchi soon tofu was quite good. I like how soft the tofu was. They have about 6 pieces of meat. The tofu has so much flavor and character! Mandu soup 5/5 -- loved this. It was really hot for awhile but overall it was worth the wait! The soup had really good flavor but I had about 3 dumplings in my soup. Spicy marinated crab 3/5 - The flavor of the crab was really well seasoned and good! I wish the crab were a little bit bigger and had more meat. My crabs were small, with not a lot of meat in it. I took mine home and ate it because I didn't feel like digging in a pile of sauce for nothing at the restaurant (not that relevant). I would order it again if I was craving it!
