Best Italian that I've had in the US (outside of Italy). Definitely a must! Always come for special occasions and am always satisfied. My favs to get include starting with a ceasar salad, and homemade meatballs with marinara, then having Penne Pink (a creamy tomato sauce) for the main dish, and the best way to end is with their homemade carrot cake that is to DIE FOR! I don't understand some of the hate in the reviews. Looking for a nice restaurant while we were in the area, we almost passed on Tre Monte because of the negativity. However, the bartender at another place said that it would be the place he would go, and I've learned that the recommendation of a bartender is worth more than any amount of reviews on Yelp. We showed up just at opening, sans reservations, on a Saturday evening (12/7). There was already a line at the door, which is a good sign about the food, but we wondered if we would be able to get a table. The fear was unfounded, as the hostess graciously showed us to a table and dropped menus. Our server, Christina, took our drink order, and was very apologetic that they didn't have onions for Bestie's gibson. No worries - olives work just as well. She came back with our cocktails, recited the specials, and we asked her to give us time to enjoy our drinks; we'd flag her down when we were ready to order. The menu is a great selection of Italian cuisine, balanced with a few standards. We took our time with our cocktails (the martinis were perfect, by the way) and Christina came right over when asked her about wines. She apologized for us not having a wine list, and returned immediately with one (some excellent bottles in their cellar, and a great selection by the glass). Bestie decided right away on the Shrimp Gran Manier [sic], egg-battered shrimp in an orange-flavored sauce, as an appetizer. I fell in love with the Melazana, breaded eggplant with marinara and cheese, covered in a creamy pesto sauce. For entrees, I picked a simple sauteed chicken, covered with prosciutto and cheese, while the rack of lamb caught her fancy. Christina came right over when we were ready to order, and congratulated us on our choices. We were able to watch the kitchen as they worked. Both of us, having a lot of experience in the industry, marveled at how well the staff worked together in the tiny space. It wasn't long before our appetizers arrived, and they were as delicious as they sounded on the menu. As soon as Christina cleared the empty plates away, she returned immediately with our entrees (which we saw were plated just as she headed to the kitchen area). Bestie's lamb was perfect. She had a choice of two sides, and she picked an herbed polenta and grilled vegetables. I accompanied my chicken with a gratin of potatoes, and sauteed spinach with garlic. We took our obligatory pictures and dug in. Needless to say, there was no conversation while we ate, with the food taking all of our attention. Bestie's lamb was cooked perfectly, with a generous portion, My chicken was flavorful, with the right balance between the sauce and the meat (I have a love/hate relationship with cheese - I like a lot of it, but not when it overpowers what's under it). To finish things off, we ordered coffee and cannolis, something light to balance the richness of the dinner. Both were delicious. When it came time to settle our check, Christina was right over. After being contacted twice (and basically scolded) by two separate parties regarding this review, I decided to update it: The food was great but when I asked to split a bill AT THE BEGINNING of our service I was told to remind our waitress at the end so she could do that. When the bill came, we had to put up a fight to split the bill (24 person party). I understand that it's difficult, though possible, to split it amongst that many people, but that's why we asked at the beginning. My two suggestions for this establishment: 1. If you have a large party, you can simply name groups on your POS system that are broken up into the larger parties OR use the old pen and paper before ringing folks in, draw a simple chart with the table lay out and number of seats and (since you already have to write down everyones order) write the order by the seat number so you know who it belongs to. 2. When responding to reviews (that were originally written to let management know about a less than satisfactory experience, say, constructive criticism) to be courteous and ask further questions about anything you may be questioning. I understand as a business emotions can run high when someone has a comment about the way you do things but it is usually easily rectified so long it's approached with grace. Instead, I was "told off." (Yelp even offers tips to business accounts on how to respond to reviews, you may want to refer to them) Even though I really want to just leave one star because I'm rattled at the way I've been treated by a server (unknown) and who ever the second person was that messaged me the way they did (someone else that works there but also unknown) the cooks there do a great job and the three stars is SOLELY for them. Firstly - we overtipped, because we're good people. The service was grouchy, and she missed every single request (more cheese on the veal, no onions on the salad...), and she never once asked us if we'd like to have a 2nd beverage. The food is average, you get a lot of it, and the prices are pretty high. $130.00 for 3 when there was only a single beer on the tab is steep for mediocrity. As we sit here, I decided to review. Two seats at the bar opened up, as we made our way over to them, we were told that two people were going to sit there. The bartender left the space sp dirty. Two women came in while we were seated for over 10 minutes, she told them that people were sitting there. 35 minutes later, a single woman sat down, at 40 minutes, someone else sat. We sit at the bar for dinner every place we go. It's one thing to usher people away for those that have been waiting, it's bad bar etiquette to save seats for patrons that are not in the building. I worked in service for over 10 years. Lifelong residents of the city. We will never go back. Her service has always been lacking but this display was disgusting 4/16/19. One of our favorite places for dinner. The food is excellent and the wait staff are awesome. They revised their menu since our last visit and two of our favorite go to dishes are gone. My wife's favorite, the wedge salad, big and shareable, is no longer offered. The other salads still offered are not nearly as good or filling as the wedge. Also, the Rose Marino Pork entree is off the menu. I've never found this dish at any other restaurant and it's easily my favorite. So now besides an increase in prices, our favorite dishes are no longer offered. From what I can remember from the old menu, there were only a few changes in the new menu, but losing these two dishes is, for us, a bad decision and we wish you would add these back to the menu. read more

We have been to the location in the North End twice and loved it. We decided to try the place in the Wu as it is close to home. I really wanted to give it more stars. But, I cannot. The food gets five stars. The service does not. We were greeted, seated, and served quickly and attentively. That is where the wheels fell off. When we finished our meals, we waited a full twenty minutes for our server to reappear. We decided not to stay for desert at that point. It was my companion's birthday and she did not get a birthday desert. The staff in the North End act as a team and helps each other. The staff here does not. We have been getting takeout thru the pandemic. Tonight we ordered out usual and it was really bad. The eggplant was rubbery, there was little to no gravy on the chicken parm. The bread was hard and they didn't include any cheese. Finally the arancini were over done. I've been here maybe a half dozen times, and Tre Monte never disappoints. Most recently we stopped in because we had a Groupon, because every little bit helps! As another person mentioned, their prices are "upscale" so it's not somewhere I could afford to go on a weekly basis (but would if I could!) The food though...so, so good. I've ordered Pork Rosemarino several times, with sides of au gratin potatoes and sauteed spinach. If you are unsure about what you want to order, try this dish. Definitely the type of place to bring a date you want to impress and a great place for Valentine's Day. You can choose a seat at the bar or more formal seating at a table. Writing this review makes me want to pick up the phone and make a reservation! Parking is behind the building with a convenient rear entrance, so there's no hassle trying to park on the busy street out front. read more

While we enjoy Tremonte's food their practice of 'saving/reserving' seats at the bar on a Saturday night not professional. There are many excellent Italian restaurants to choose from who do not turn away customers. We stopped going a few years ago because of this practice but thought we'd try one more time. Sure enough seats were blocked/saved at the bar on a Saturday night! Yeah. I won't go there and I would advise that if you want to be treated fairly by a professional owner, you'd find another nice Italian place to go. Forget Tremonte. read more

When you travel for work, an exceptional meal can be hard to come by and greatly appreciated. Tremonte exceeded my expectations. The Veal Marsla and the Wedge Salad were amazing. Full of flavor, seasoned just right!!! Then there is the CARROT Cake!! Oh my, a pound and a half's worth. You can see the carrots and nuts. ALL of it absolutely amazing!! Solid 4 to 4.5 stars. Had the rack of lamb cooked rare. The flavor was excellent, lamb very tender, portion was nice for the price point and I will definitely order it again. However because the flavor was so good, the dish could do without the heavy amount of glaze covering the lamb. read more

Ordered takeout and have to say when I picked it up, it was fresh from the oven and nice and hot. The fried rice balls were delicious. We also ordered a carbonara and mushroom ravioli. I had asked for extra sauce on the side for the carbonara and never recieved it. Luckily, the mushroom ravioli was swimming in sauce (honestly it looked like soup) so I was able to put some sauce from that onto the carbonara. Went for dinner last night and was NOT impressed. Grand Marnier shrimp was soggy and cold. Caprese salad had a gritty texture to it. My chicken parmigiana was so over cooked and dry i was having a tough time eating it. i would of asked for more sauce but it was so acidic I could not eat that either. Even though they had a phone number of the person who made the reservation no one had the common decency to call her & tell her of the closure. Apparently one can only sit at the bar if you are a friend of the owner. Not cool! I have attempted to dine at the bar on 2 occasions and have been told, in a very matter-of-fact tone I might add, that the entire bar is reserved for friends of the owner. There were 10 open seats!!!! Apparently the owner is not interested in making new friends or for that matter, any new business period. Needless to say, I don't need three strikes to be out. BTW - I did call to reserve 2 seats at the bar and was informed that seats for the bar cannot be reserved as the owner may reserve the entire bar for his friends and the staff does not know this until the day of. read more

We received a restaurant.com gift card for Christmas, and decided to use it for dinner out. We didn't realize it works more like a coupon book than a gift card. We were only able to get a $10 gift certificate to use at Tremonte. We called ahead and were informed we can only use one gift certificate (purchased thru restaurant.com) once a month. So that is a little disappointing. At least they let us use it on a Saturday night (some other establishments wouldn't.) My husbad made a reservation for 7pm Saturday night. We parked in the main parking lot out back, and arrived right on time. We were greeted warmly by the hostess, and seated right away. Our waitress, Lynn, came to our table immediately. She asked us if we had been there before, and when we said it was our first time, she welcomed us, and went over the menu with us, pointing out the entrees came with a choice of two sides, and she explained the specials as well. She took our drink orders right away, and I think within 5 minutes of arriving, we were sipping our drinks, and feeling very relaxed. ( My cosmo was perfect! Not too sweet, just the right blend of ingredients, and nicely chilled.) The set-up of the place isn't ideal, our table was right next to the kitchen door, and most tables aare close together, not offering much privacy. But the service and food more than made up for that. We ordered the shrimp grand marnier appetizer. It was heavenly! 5 large, fresh shrimp lightly battered and cooked to perfection in a yummy grand marnier sauce. I had the filet mignon, and chose the potato gratin and sauteed spinach for sides. I asked for my steak to be cooked "medium" and it came out perfect! It was absolutey deicious. The spinach was very good too, the potatos were a little disappointing. They seemed to be reheated, and were a little bland. Overall, my meal was very enjoyable, and I did clean my plate! My husband had the chicken parm, and it was excellent! For dessert, we split a chocolate lava cake, served with fresh whipped cream. It was very good! The service was excellent. Lynn was friendly, attentive and very efficient. The other staff were the same. As we were leaving, I misplaced my glove and the young man helping to serve and clear tables went out of his way to look for it. Two stars due to service, food for the most part was very good. Went with my fiancé, mom, aunt, and cousin. We arrived 10 minutes early and were told it would be a couple minutes, but ended up not being sat until about 15 minutes after our reserved time. As we walked to our table in the very back by the back exit I noted several empty tables so I am not sure what took so long. Upon finally being seated, our waitress was over to take our drink orders fairly quickly. When it was my turn to order a drink I was about to tell her what I wanted and the waitress immediately said no before I could even tell her my order and then gestured "give it here" with her hand cupped upside down - meaning my id. Then upon viewing my id she exclaimed "oh wow you are a lot older than I thought." We ordered arancini, melanzana, caesar salads, and caprese to start. The arancini had a nice crisp outer layer and soft insides and I would order it again. The melanzana was served with a creamy pesto style sauce which was also really good.The caesar salad was a bit too creamy, and the caprese was extremely skimpy on the tomatoes - more salad than caprese. Another waitress came over and took our dinner order. For entrees, I had the della case with linguine which was served in a large portion and was very good. Other entrees that impressed include the lobster ravioli (larger size than expected), the sautéed chicken, and the rack of lamb. The butternut squash ravioli on the other hand was very dry inside, and did not taste fresh. I cannot imagine anyone wanting to order that a second time. read more

This is probably my favorite restaurant in general. It's quite amazing. I can't say enough wonderful things about this place! The food is otherworldly. Some of my personal Tremonte favorites are the wild mushroom ravioli, Grand Marnier shrimp appetizer, Caesar salad, and the bruschetta! I've also had their one-pound slice of carrot cake, which takes about a week to finish but is sooo delicious. They serve generous portions with both food and drink, none of that wine-to-the-line four ounce serving nonsense. You'll be able to have leftovers for about two days afterwards with the amount of food they give you, which is fine by me :0) The atmosphere is cool too, it was recently redone and the addition looks great. Wohooo! My boyfriend and I passed the one year mark! Cracked open the champagne and walked to this place a few glasses later to mark the occasion with food and more libations. Split a salad, definitely large enough to share and we are big eaters, around $7. Not big people, just big appetites. Also got a bottle of wine, I believe it was $32. Bread came to the table and it was pretty good with the dipping oil. He got the chicken parmesaen and said it was the best he has ever had. I don't really order that ever, but I had a bite and it was delicious. After reading yelp reviews I ordered the vinegar pork chops and peppers. I was skeptical because it doesn't even sound like it would be good, but what the hell I was feeling adventurous. IT WAS AWESOME! I thought my boyfriend was admiring my new tank top, turns out he was admiring my pork chop. Service was a little slow, but that gave us time to enjoy the wine and chat about the Bruins. Oh joy! Others commented on how small the place was and the boyfriend hates crowded spots, but it was set up great and he wasn't cramped at all. Also, you cannot see tvs from the dining area like one reviewer complained about. Perhaps they were seated at a table near the bar. Last night (for Valentine's Day) was my first time going to Tremonte in over 5 years.. I barely remember my last experience so I basically had a clean slate. I called 2 days before for a possible reservation (we needed a late one ideally 830) and fortunately they had an opening at 9, which was a little bit later than we wanted but we went with it. We ended up showing up 8:30 figuring we would get a drink at the bar and we were pleasantly surprised when we were seated right away. The decor is nice, dark lighting, ideal for couples or maybe a small group. The tables are a little bit close together, but still probably more spaced out than most restaurants in the North End! Since it was Valentine's day, and both of our favorite pastime is eating out, we decided to go ALL OUT... and there were no regrets. We ordered drinks, he got a chianti and I got a mini bottle of prosecco (my favorite!). The waitress was BEYOND helpful from the very beginning and incredibly engaging and not to mention fast which from experience I know can be challenging on such a busy night. We ordered the Antipasto for an appetizer and it complemented our fresh rolls and olive oil wonderfully. There was more than enough and the plate featured fresh mozzarella, provolone, a variety of olives, DELICIOUSLY fresh and thinly sliced proscuitto, salami, pepperoni, artichokes with some type of balsamic glaze, and tomatoes. For my entree I got the filet minon, and with it we were able to choose 2 of about 6 side options. I chose the fresh grilled vegetables and potato gratin. I must say i was MORE than pleased with my entire meal. The steak was cooked perfectly and it was the largest size portion of filet i've ever seen!! Melt in your mouth delicious. The potato gratin was one of the best thigns I've ever eaten, and the vegetables were not as flavorful but cooked to perfection and drizzled with olive oil. in all honesty I don't even remember what Joe got... I know it was some type of fish and I know he finished it in less than 10 minutes and practically licked his plate clean. So I'm going to go with a positive review for that one... OBVIOUSLY we couldn't help but order dessert... so to go with my delicious shot of espresso we decided to get the chocolate lava cake. This dessert is generally very difficult to screw up, but this was really something special. Homemade whipped cream on the side and I was definitely put over the edge after that one. but overall the entire experience was phenominal, and going anywhere on Valentine's day is putting a restaurant up to the test. Back again, and didn't disappoint. Had the amazing vinegar pork and peppers - I can't believe how good this dish was. I wouldn't normally order something like this but it was suggested to me by a couple of people so i went ahead. We also had some salads which were fresh and delicious. Wine selection is great and reasonably priced. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I find the seating a bit tight, and sometimes when we have sat in the back it gets a bit warm Overall this is a great place for dinner - romantic or group. I frequent this restaurant more than any other due to location and greatness. Food was a 5. Service was a 3.5. Overall, we loved the food! I got the Fusilli with broccoli rabe and sausage and my wife ordered the chicken parm (as is her way). The fusilli was delicious and the chicken parm was gigantic. We were eating it for 2 days afterwards. The wine list was decent. We ordered arancini which was just so-so. GET THE CHOCOLATE CAKE. It was incredible and was seriously ~1 lbs (it even says so in the menu). Service wasn't great... the woman acting as host wasn't overly welcoming, and there were 20+ minute spans when we didn't even see our server. We had a table right next to the kitchen so we could see when the food was ready to be delivered. We had a couple items sit there for at least 5 minutes getting cold before the server picked them up to bring to our table. So overall we'll be back.
