HUGEE slice of their delicious homemade carrot cake with cream cheese frosting
    B C.

Best Italian that I've had in the US (outside of Italy). Definitely a must! Always come for special occasions and am always satisfied. My favs to get include starting with a ceasar salad, and homemade meatballs with marinara, then having Penne Pink (a creamy tomato sauce) for the main dish, and the best way to end is with their homemade carrot cake that is to DIE FOR! Take it from a true Italian - it's super comparable to what you'd get in Italy

A quick example of the way to take the orders of a larger party, it's easy, organized and helps split up parties.
    Alex M.

After being contacted twice (and basically scolded) by two separate parties regarding this review, I decided to update it: The food was great but when I asked to split a bill AT THE BEGINNING of our service I was told to remind our waitress at the end so she could do that. When the bill came, we had to put up a fight to split the bill (24 person party). I understand that it's difficult, though possible, to split it amongst that many people, but that's why we asked at the beginning. My two suggestions for this establishment: 1. If you have a large party, you can simply name groups on your POS system that are broken up into the larger parties OR use the old pen and paper before ringing folks in, draw a simple chart with the table lay out and number of seats and (since you already have to write down everyones order) write the order by the seat number so you know who it belongs to. 2. When responding to reviews (that were originally written to let management know about a less than satisfactory experience, say, constructive criticism) to be courteous and ask further questions about anything you may be questioning. I understand as a business emotions can run high when someone has a comment about the way you do things but it is usually easily rectified so long it's approached with grace. Instead, I was "told off." (Yelp even offers tips to business accounts on how to respond to reviews, you may want to refer to them) Even though I really want to just leave one star because I'm rattled at the way I've been treated by a server (unknown) and who ever the second person was that messaged me the way they did (someone else that works there but also unknown) the cooks there do a great job and the three stars is SOLELY for them. Also, before dining here you may want to check out the 40 other reviews that are "not recommended"....

As we sit here, I decided to review. Two seats at the bar opened up, as we made our way over to them, we were told that two people were going to sit there. The bartender left the space sp dirty. Two women came in while we were seated for over 10 minutes, she told them that people were sitting there. 35 minutes later, a single woman sat down, at 40 minutes, someone else sat. We sit at the bar for dinner every place we go. It's one thing to usher people away for those that have been waiting, it's bad bar etiquette to save seats for patrons that are not in the building. I worked in service for over 10 years. Lifelong residents of the city. We will never go back. Her service has always been lacking but this display was disgusting 4/16/19. The bartender was kind enough to message me through Yelp. Click on the lined picture below. Outstanding! 4/17/19 Received a reply from the owner. Thank you for your reply. Since I can't reply directly to you: Holding reservations is one thing, lying to patrons and saying someone is sitting there, while leaving the section dirty is acceptable? Holding for someone who says they are on their way? From where, NH? Obviously, this works for you but you must see the bad reviews about your service. I found the others after my review Again, thanks but you didn't care to reply until after your staff sent a message to me

    Veal Marsala!! Tender & Tasty!
    Chelle M.

When you travel for work, an exceptional meal can be hard to come by and greatly appreciated. Tremonte exceeded my expectations. The Veal Marsla and the Wedge Salad were amazing. Full of flavor, seasoned just right!!! Then there is the CARROT Cake!! Oh my, a pound and a half's worth. You can see the carrots and nuts. ALL of it absolutely amazing!! The Yelp reviews led me here and then when the locals RAVE about it, you know it's gonna be good and it was!!

Rack of Lamb... very good flavor and perfect portion.

Have visited several times over the past 4 years when coming back to visit family in the area. A…read morenumber of other reviewers have commented that "things have changed", and I, unfortunately, agree. Visited on a Saturday evening - the place should be packed, but it wasn't. I easily secured a same day bar seat reservation for 8PM. After checking in, was seated at a half empty downstairs bar. No physical menus, everything was done via a QR which is fine I guess, but for a spot that positions itself as a premiere bar a bit tacky. The online menu on the public website is the only menu and where the QR takes you. I asked for a spirits list (logical for a cocktail forward bar), I got a quizzical look and a shrug of the shoulders in return. Given the menu was only 8 cocktails, picking from those I started with the Beachcomber Mai Tai for a whopping $18. This, if it's the true spec, should be a rum forward cocktail with 2 1/2 oz of rum. They batch their cocktails (not a problem) so I couldn't see their build, but there is absolutely no way this drink is made to specification - my guess is they are skimping on rum as a cost play, batching lets them get away with it. Drink was, frankly, pretty forgettable - not bad, just unremarkable. Wanting to see how they could do off-menu, I asked the bartender to make me a Hemingway Daiquiri. Now, for a cocktail bar that has a long history of rum centric and tiki leaning cocktails, this should be an off the top of their head cocktail. It's simple - white rum, lime and grapefruit juice, and maraschino liqueur. Bartender had never heard of it before, and then spent a few minutes staring in to his phone presumably looking up the recipe. He built it using Rhum JM white rum which is absolutely the wrong rum for this drink - it needs a white Cuban rum (which we know we can't get in the U.S.), so the usual sub would be Bacardi, Planteray 3 stars, Probitas, or others. Definitely not a Martinique agricole. This may be a too detailed nit for some, but with the framing that this is supposed to be a premium cocktail bar, this is an error that should not happen, and not for $18. Figuring the third time might be a charm, ordered the Trader Vic 1944 Mai Tai. This is the classic, the standard against which all others are measured. It's a distinct recipe, especially if you call yours the 1944 Mai Tai. This was not that. It was again light on rum with probably the wrong rums used in their blend. It was also substantially over dosed with orgeat making the almond sweetness an almost overpowering flavor versus playing a subtle supporting actor role. Again, swing and a miss. Drinkable if you like sweet, and don't mind hefty almond. But if you want to try the real Mai Tai - this is not it. Overall, for the price, fairly indifferent bar service, lack of information available to the customer (e.g., spirits list, etc.), and fairly off the mark cocktails I think you can find far better spots right now for that same money. If you definitely want that tiki inspired cocktail vibe - your better bet will be places like Wusong Road in Cambridge or Shore Leave in Boston, and I'm sure there are others. Sorry Baldwin Bar, you've lost your edge and it shows.

Come to find out, the second floor is no longer a bar setting but a dining room and there was no bartender up there. The drinks were okay at best but still priced at a premium. We got three appetizers: dumplings, crab rangoon, and "pungent" ribs. The dumpling filling was dry and lacked flavor; they came sitting in a bowl of soy sauce. The crab rangoons also lacked any flavor on their own and reminded me of a cheap Chinese restaurant quality. The "ribs" were a bowl of dry, very chewy meat; inedible at best. I think this place was once something, but it definitely does not hold up to its previous reputation. We were super disappointed. The cherry on top? We ordered our drinks and waited 20 minutes before anyone acknowledged we never got them. They took our order a second time and we waited another 10 minutes for that round.

We had a good sized crowd so they basically gave us the run of one of the bar areas (we were in the wine bar). Table seating, couch seating and room to stand around. We ordered a big selection of various appetizers and everyone was very happy with the food. They had it all laid out and labeled nicely. Drinks were good, but you do have to travel bar to bar - wine at the wine bar, cocktails at the speakeasy, etc so grabbing a few drinks for others is a little more of a process - but I think this is better for a small group because you get that ambiance of whatever you're looking for. We're all pretty local and a fair amount of us had never been in before - but everyone was making plans to come back to hang out again.
