Came here with a bunch of co-workers (party of 6) for lunch. The place was almost empty and cold. A few elderly people sat across from us. Looking at the menu, i wasn't really interested in anything. I told my co worker that this place seemed like one of those 65 and over spots, where the food is cold and unseasoned. As we waited about an hour (yes) for our food to come, more folks strolled in with their walkers and wheelchairs. The place was starting to fill up. Fuscilli's has a great menu and the food is outstanding and a good value. The rules however depend on the wait staff. Do NOT sit with Kristen. She has no tact when "enforcing" rules. When presented with an uncomfortable situation, she has no discretion. When ordering a third cocktail, she announces that it is against the rules. Now mind you the Covid restrictions were NOT being followed by her and her co worker in terms of the number of guests in one party and when that was brought to her attention, she had no interest in "the rules". My wife and I eat out a lot. We have been coming to Fusilli's for a few years. It is consistently one of the best restaurants in the area. The location, right off of I-95, is very convenient. There is plenty of on site parking. The service is always wonderful. The food is delicious! Great pizza,steaks, pasta dishes and fish. Last night my wife had the swordfish special. She said it was one of the best meals she has ever had. We have also decided that their meatballs are the best around. Give Fusilli's a try, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. read more

What's with naming your place Bistro, it's like naming your restaurant a Cafe'? That makes it REALLY difficult to know the type of restaurant it is (i.e. high-end vs. casual). I've been to this place a few times, as it's fairly close to home. It's a nice looking restaurant, outside and in. Parking can be a hassle if you go during peek hours (i.e. limited parking available). The host is always very pleasant and welcoming, and I've never had to wait very long to get seated. Food is always good, I've never had a plate I didn't enjoy. Prices are a little higher than I'd like, and that refers back to my original comment, the name (to me) implies a bit more of a casual fare (i.e. less expensive). Drinks are especially pricey. I'd definitely recommend giving this restaurant a try, but be aware that it'll cost you a little more than you may expect! read more

This place was mentioned to me by one of my associates so i took to Instagram to have a look. I ordered a family dinner monday night special that was pork chops. They prepared 3 different ways, the fancy vinegar hot pepper, grilled or breaded (shake and bake style for you project type peeps like myself). This thing served 4-6 people came with a vegetable medley, mashed potato and a huge side garden salad. The total for this was $46 and it certainly feeds 4 people no problems. In my case, my better half and I had dinner and lunch the next day. Oh it also came with a bunch of bread and butter as well. The pork was cooked perfect, and as much as you might hate this word, they were perfectly MOIST and delicious. I don't eat pork that often, but it's one of those foods/meats that tends to be dry more times than not. That said, this wasn't and I couldn't have been happier, my girl said the same. I have never been here before, but based on this meal and the things they show on their insta, I can certainly tell you I will be back again. Very, very poor. We went tonight, party of 3. Place was empty but they seated us near the hallway to the kitchen anyway. Our server, Tracy, was horrible. My spouse asked for a club soda with lime. A water was served. I ordered a specialty cocktail (dirty martini basically) and it came with ONE cube of ice and ONE sad, tiny olive. Very bad. We ordered a wedge salad with dressing on the side. That was ignored and it was covered in dressing. We ordered mussels and they came out with no bowl for the shells , no bread, not even a spoon. We ordered a burger that was supposed to come with either fries or coleslaw but she never asked and so it came with both (the person ordering it hates coleslaw). Oh and the food took ONE HOUR to come out and the restaurant was empty. Never going back and no one else should either. read more

We had a very bad experience when we came in for dinner. This is despite having several positive experiences in our past. Most importantly, my chicken marsala meal, although initially tasty, was found to have plastic wrap in it. I pulled a chunk out of my mouth and also unfortunately swallowed some before realizing ! Waitress did apologize. However apologies are not enough in this instance. It's quite serious. Of course the meal, and perhaps the whole bill, should have been free. I literally swallowed a foreign object ! Instead they removed a nominal amount from the bill, produced a new meal, and a free dessert to to-go. Only upon our disagreement, was the full amount of the meal removed from the bill. I really think a matter like this should be taken far more seriously. Ownership/leadership could should get involved, speak to the patrons directly, and patrons should be properly compensated. None of this is the responsibility of the waitress who, by the way, was excellent and tipped accordingly. Ownership really should have stepped up and did not. Additionally, earlier in the meal, we were asked to move from our comfortable table to a different table since they wanted to seat a larger group who would bring in greater revenue. We were fine with that and very accommodating. Still though, the move was clearly endorsed by leadership and not exactly polite. Sadly this was an overall negative experience with Fusillis. Prior to this experience, I would definitely have recommended them. However now, I do not reccomended them at all. read more

First trip to Fusilli's Cucina today was overall successful. I had gone a few times when it was Sam's Bistro, which I thought had been decent. Anyway, I arrived with two others in my party and we were seated once a waitress spotted us. There were a few other tables taken. It was lunch on a Thursday. I like the variety of menu items. They have great bread when you sit down. I ordered the Italian wedding soup and turkey club. The soup was good, especially with the bread. My club sandwich was great too, but I wasn't a big fan of the fries. They weren't very hot and I thought they were lacking flavor. On the other hand, another person loved them. Also ordered at the table: lobster bisque, grilled chicken sandwich, garden salad, coffee. Everything was enjoyed. Nice servers who checked in enough. One w bolognese one w meatballs. My husband and I were looking forward to a nice meal. The food was maybe the worst Italian food We have ever had. The sauce tasted burnt, was slightly blackened. My family has been going here for years and we've had numerous functions here before their big bar "renovation" and I use that term lightly. I will NEVER patronize this place again and will be certain to tell my family and friends. Went this evening to the bar for dinner, my husband walked around and found one empty seat he was willing to stand and waved me over. As I walked over, the hostess told me she had a party of 2 waiting for bar seats. I told her there was only one seat there and my husband was willing to stand. It's only logical that if the couple waiting wanted that empty seat one of them would have been sitting it and the other doing the same as my husband and standing. She then proceeded to have the bartender tell me that I couldn't sit there. That was all I needed to hear to never go to this place again, but there were plenty of other reasons I witnessed in my short time there. Way too many good Italian restaurants in the area to go to than waste your time with this one. We went for dinner with a party of 14, in the private front room. The good: we were so happy to be able to come to the restaurant to celebrate a milestone birthday, during covid. The room was really nice and the food was excellent. The not-so good: the restaurant seemed short on waitstaff. This significantly impacted our experience in regards to service with a party of both adults and children. We were hit with a "cake fee" of $25.00 to walk out with the cake we had brought and then a "suggested" gratuity of around 23% was added to the bill. That percentage seemed excessive and wasn't easily able to be adjusted. Our waitress was a bit abrupt. We didn't expect the world here, but it was really disappointing for the amount of money we spent on the dinner and drinks for the group. The "girls" went to Fusilli's Cucina today for lunch. My stepmother came up from Rhode Island so I am REALLY glad this restaurant was a hit with everyone. I moved to Reading about 2 years ago and have gone by Fusilli's just about every day and have wanted to try it so I figured it would be a good place to have a Ladies Of Leisure Lunch. We are all now retired and find a place every month to go out to lunch. One of my friends takes care of her grand daughter so we had to make sure there was space for the giant contraption that is now considered a "baby carriage". The front desk person was very accommodating in putting us in the back booth where we could spread out and not worry about bothering anyone. There were 5 of us plus the baby. The food: Oh My God. The salads we ordered were HUGE and wonderful and could have been a meal. The main meals, again were HUGE and delicious. I had veal parm, which I just picked after my wedge salad, which is fine because I now have it for dinner. The prices are very good, the food is DELICIOUS and the people that work there are very nice. We all liked the fact that the wait staff did not rush us and they really gave us a lot of time to sit and just be with all of our friends. That being said, the one complaint I did have is that they kind of gave us a tad too much time. I don't know if they were understaffed or what, but it did take a lot of time to get the drinks, food and check. BUT, since we are all retired Ladies Of Leisure, it all worked out great. Sam? Sam Bistro? Could you come in here for a minute? Great, have a seat. I've been assigned to you as your restaurant guidance counselor. I just wanted to go over a few things with you, make sure you are on the right track for where you wanted to get to in your life, and so on. It's still early enough to make some changes if you want. Your location is good, and there is adequate parking. But hey, there's not much you can do about either of those, so I'm not adding or subtracting points there. It's what's inside that counts, right? And, well, I'm not sure what's in there right now, really. If you want to graduate and move on to make a name for yourself I think you need to figure out WHAT it is you want to be. I'm a fan of your raw bar offerings so far. There aren't many places in the area that have that, so this is a plus. I really enjoyed the oysters. What worried me was the $30+ steak. I just don't see people coming to you for that. Or lamb, really. And I guess I expected more from the mid-range selections than just a lobster roll and solitary burger choice. Perhaps you're still developing those. Hey, like I said, plenty of time to grow if you start now. But that's the zone you occupy here in Reading. I think people in that area are looking for a great mid-level go-to place that's not trying to be big city, but definitely not the 99. As for the use of the space, the dining room seemed sparse and spacious. I was sat in the middle of the room and felt like I was on display from the horseshoe booths around the room. It was a little odd, honestly. Seems like it could have been arranged better. I do plan to check out the bar sometime soon, though, as it looked like an inviting place to go with friends for drinks and apps. So look, that's all I had to discuss. I wish I read the filtered reviews before I went. This place is not a 3 star dinning experience. Read the five pages of 1 star reviews before you go. First problem: it is so cold in the restaurant. They must have the heat off and trust me in Reading MA in the middle of winter you need to have the heat on. Second problem: Slow service and cold food. It should not take 30 mins for a turkey plate. Third problem: The waitress talked down to me. Really? I said I wanted to go, don't tell me to sit down and wait just a min because the cook is making me a nice dinner. This isn't someone's home, this is a restaurant. Fourth problem: Over priced drinks. This isn't even high end wine. A bottle of CUPCAKE cost across the street at a liqueur store a whooping $8. The price they are selling it for a bottle $28. I'm fine with them making a profit but you know that they got it for $4 bucks a bottle, so really $24 profit is insane. Well I went here yesterday for Lunch. I was skeptical due to the reviews on this website but I was very satisfied. I got a French Dip sandwich and it was the best sandwich i have had in recent memory. My waitress was exceptional and the pricers were very reasonable 10 bucks for the sandwich. My wife and I decided to try out this restaurant as it's in our town and we had high hopes as we had enjoyed their other restaurant in Melrose. I can only describe I dining experience as bizarre. Our waitress didn't have a clue as to how to interact with people on any level whatsoever. My wife had asked if she could try a taste of the 14 hands wine that she had recommended. The waitress came back with two small glasses of Chianti telling her she thought she would like this better than the 14 hands??? Isn't it with the customer asks for not what you think? I ordered a Markers Mark on the rock with s twist of lemon and what I got was a 12 oz. tumbler full of bourbon and limes with very little ice. At no time did our waitress check on us, or ask us if we enjoyed our meal. She never ask us if we wanted coffee and dessert. Just very lackadaisical. You can tell they've invested a lot of money in the build outs, Im sure with better trained staff members and improving the quality of their food would go along way. Our office in Reading was excited when we heard Sam's Bistro was coming to town and went as a group last night (a Tuesday) to check it out. I was a little hesitant due to some of the poor reviews here, but went with an open mind and hungry stomach. I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, it's still fairly new and it was clear they are a work in progress and have some details to work out but overall, we had a good experience. The decor was beautiful and comfortable. It was busy, but we were seated quickly. Our waitress was very nice and attentive, yet not overbearing. Our office is a group of fun-loving, easygoing women and the waitress went along with our vibe, yet remained professional and courteous. Our drinks and appetizer arrived in a timely fashion. We started with the quesadilla and it was very tasty and enough for our group of five. My friend and I both ordered pink lemonade martinis and they were delicious. We also had complimentary bread and salads, both of which were fresh and flavorful. Our meals arrived shortly after and everybody was pretty happy with them. I ordered the chicken & broccoli rigatoni in a garlic cream sauce and it was very good. Fresh, hot, creamy and just the right amount. Everybody else's meals looked appetizing and had nice presentations. I do agree with some of the other reviewers that the prices are a bit steep for the quality of the food and the standard of service. Granted, our meals were good but I'm not sure that they were quite up to the $25+ (each) standard. I've had similar pasta dishes at Maccaroni Grill for half the price. The couple other drawbacks were that it was quite loud in the restaurant and parking was a bit challenging (all of us had to wait a few minutes for other people to get out of spaces). But, the location is great and I think all in all, Sam's has good potential and makes for a nice night out. I would like to see them add a few more dishes to the menu (there was only 1 chicken dish and I don't remember seeing any vegetarian options, although I could've missed them). As someone who prefers a more laidback restaurant atmosephere with more affordable prices, I probably won't be making frequent trips back to Sam's Bistro but overall it was a positive experience and I'm glad we went. I think it's a nice addition to Reading and a great alternative to the pricey and sometimes pretentious Venetian Moon. read more

We stopped for a quick lunch on our way home from one of the mud races in Amesbury. I am joking when I say quick. We waited over an hour before our sandwiches were brought to us. Our waitress was new and never put our order in. The sandwiches were delicious and our waitress felt terrible about the mistake, but Sam's will forever be the butt or our jokes when we are looking for a place for lunch. After reading so many mixed reviews we finally gave this local place a chance for dinner. I had lunch here a few weeks earlier and thought it was very good. They seemed to have changed their menu to be more in line with the location and we recognized dishes from their Sterns and Hill Restaurant (Statler Chicken). January 1st evening. Very quiet night. Service - our server was mildly interested in us and not very interested in explaining our side dish options. Food - two of us had the small prime rib. It was very good and more than we could eat. Two had the Grilled Tuna. Very tasty and a very large serving. Although still a bit pricey for the area, the food was good and the portions were large. All our meals included a very nice salad, starch and veggie. In the end about $30 PP for entrees without appetizers, dessert or drink. read more

Wishing I could give 2.5 or 2.75 stars. Our first visit in quite some time was last night (a Friday) and nothing was downright bad, but it wasn't good either. The "meh" on the 2-star rating describes the experience accurately. We arrived about 6pm with a hankerin' for prime rib, which is not as easy to come by it used to be. We try to eat healthy so were looking forward to this splurge. The first thing I noticed upon walking into the dining room was it has a slightly damp or mildewy odor, as if a dehumidifer is needed. However the room was clean and all empty tables (which were the majority upon arrival) were set up neatly. We were seated and began reviewing the menu. Our waitress arrived quickly. She was young and seemed nervous, bordering on frightened, and clearly inexperienced although she was trying. She announced one special, a ribeye steak entree. We inquired about prime rib which she said was available, then we ordered a glass of wine and a soda which were delivered promptly. A few minutes later we ordered an appetizer of grilled shrimp with garlic bread and two prime rib dinners, medium rare. We were offered a choice of garden or Caesar salad, no other options. So far, so good. Less than five minutes later our salads were delivered. I noted to the hubby that the shrimp should've come first, and in his ever easy-going style he just shrugged. Romaine lettuce was fresh and crisp, there was a reasonable amount of cheese and fewer croutons than I would like, but I tend to be a crouton maniac. That's all the good parts of the salad although as stated earlier, it wasn't actually bad. It was served in a practically frozen bowl, and the lettuce had clearly just come out of the fridge, plus there was so little dressing they might not have bothered at all. We agreed that the overall sensation of this salad was 'cold.' Meh. Midway through the salads the shrimp appeared. It definitely did not look or taste grilled, it was probably sauteed. Having said that, for me it was the highlight of the meal. A plate was presented with 2 mid-sized pieces of garlic bread and a lemon wedge next to a ramekin containing 4 mid-sized shrimp, a few halved cherry tomatoes and some basil leaves. The shrimp were nicely cooked to firmness and served hot in a tasty scampi-style sauce. The tomatoes and basil had been added last minute so they held their form but were also hot and slathered in the garlic sauce. We both enjoyed this dish. Too bad the timing was all off, especially when the waitress had only one other table. We certainly would have preferred to have the appetizer first, then a little respite, then the salad. Instead we set our salads aside half eaten, polished off the shrimp and went back to our salads. Meh. One bite back into salad and the entrees arrive, literally no more than 20 minutes after our order. The prime ribs were decent sized and appeared to be well marbled but not too fatty. They were both cooked as ordered, with a bit of a brown sauce drizzled over and a small cup containing more sauce on the side. Baked potatoes were properly prepared (but really, how can they screw up a baked potato? If they can, I don't want to know!) and the vegetable of the day, 'ratatouille,' which was a medley of sauteed zuchinni, yellow squash and tomatoes. Everything was hot but sadly, that's about the best we could say for the entrees. So sad, we really want to like this place. MEH. Cutting into my rib revealed more fat than had appeared, which is not that surprising with this cut of beef. In retrospect I think if I'd flipped the whole slab over on my plate, the other side would've shown mostly fat. I don't mind cutting off the fat as long as there is still plenty of beef left (after all you're paying for the beef!) but this cut was very difficult to cut through. I ended up sawing off large chunks of fat and beef to set aside since I couldn't cut through to separate the two. Too much waste; thankful it was only $20. MEH! The baked potato came with 2 pats of foil-wrapped butter. We would've liked sour cream and perhaps horseradish for the ribs, but our waitress had seemingly disappeared. She eventually came by to check on us when we were past halfway through the ribs, and we asked for horseradish sauce. She said "she'd ask the kitchen if they can do that" and came back a few minutes later with a small dish of straight horseradish. We were OK with that and it had a nice kick that helped clear my sinuses and made the beef a bit more enjoyable - for what little was left. Meanwhile a group of 3 ladies were seated behind the hubby. Their bubbly waitress recited SIX specials, including soup, apps, entree and veggie options. MEH MEH MEH! I've run out of character space (thanks Yelp) but tried to make this point: Sam's Bistro place has great potential but needs to work out a lot of issues. Hope they do. read more

Ugh. Great menu but that was the only good thing about this experience and it definitely doesn't translate to the food. I'd driven by here a ton of times and decided to take my mother out to lunch and give it a try. Very big restaurant so there's plenty of parking and seating. Like I said above, the menu is big and interesting. We both saw several items we wanted to try and the prices were great. The noise level is crazy high and sound carries. I know way more than I ever wanted to know about the table several feet away. Our waitress was Samantha. She took our drink order and let us know what kind of oysters they had (only 1 kind) and we ordered a half dozen. Then the waiting began. Wow, it was slow. Finally, the oysters came and my mother couldn't even eat them. I was willing to give benefit of the doubt and did eat them (had to ask for bread to help with this actually) but they were horribly salty. More salty than west coast oysters (these were from Rhode Island) and I really should have just sent them back but I didn't know more bleh was to come so I ate them and figured the mains would be better.... also, there were tons of little fruit flies hovering around the oysters which remained on the table until our mains came. No one thought to pick up the plate and take it away. My mother got lobster mac and cheese while I went with the Nantucket pie. It took forever. People seated after us got their food as we waited. We finally got the meals and my mother commented that it took a really long time. Samantha seemed a bit defensive and said it was because they had a big party. That's not our fault and a simple sincere sorry would have been fine with us. The meals were not good. Super sonic hot (microwave zapped obviously) with the lobster chewy on both dishes. The haddock was also chewy. The shrimp was hard to chew. The only good part of the meals was the rice and pasta in the mac and cheese and the only edible part of my Nantucket pie were the scallops. During this time, the hostess came over and was very accusatory saying she heard we didn't like the wait time, so we awkwardly said yes and she dismissively said sorry and walked away. Um, okay. Very strange customer service interaction there but it gets better. Our meals were sitting there basically untouched and Samantha walked by and asked, 'how is everything' and didn't even stop! I have never ever had that happen before and wow. Great service. We finally paid, felt ripped off, left no tip and vowed never to return. Wow, some people really hammered this place in the reviews...... So, yes, it'll take a while for your food to cook, the wine is a bit pricey and the music sometimes makes you wonder if you're riding the escalator at K-Mart. BUT chill out. The martinis are fantabulous and the food is pretty good. We were there when it wasn't too busy so I just assumed they were making it from scratch and it was worth the wait.....the Seafood Fra Diavolo (AKA Frutti Di Mare) is excellent. Our only gripe was the garlicv bread was something my kindergartener could have made. Waiter was affable and informative. Give it a try. We had dinner here tonight. One person had the baked haddock, one had the fried shrimp and another had fried clams. To start, the salad was horrible a lot of brown pieces and white chunks of the romaine. The dinner came and the haddock was nice and hot, however the fried shrimp and clam dinner were both completely cold. We told the waitress and she took the clam back, I kept my shrimp because I knew better. Three minutes later she came out with nice hot clams and microwaved rice and green beans. I am a regular here, or at least I was. And when I say regular I mean we would often visit once a week. I went last night very last minute for a drink and a simple bowl of pasta. I was with my sister and her friend and to my surprise had the worst service ever. To put it simply a server or ANYONE in a service industry should not roll their eyes at a customers request or shake their head visibly while walking away from a table. I was shocked and it was over a simple mistake. Needless to say my sister who doesn't complain about ANYTHING was shocked and felt bad for even asking her to adjust her meal as she had ordered it. Needless to say I will not be visiting for a while after feeling not only uncomfortable but not welcome. Not a very good way to feel at an Italian Restaurant. read more

Rude and worst treatment of customers I have dealt with yet! Congratulations Fusillis Crapchina for lying to me when I called for a takeout cheese pizza at 10:12 and was told "We are CLOSED" when your store and all info clearly says 11:00 is closing time! I worked at Pizza and Italian restaurants for many years and we ALWAYS allowed customers to order anytime prior to closing time even if it annoyed all of us workers!! This is honestly the first time I ever been lied to and rudely told they were closed like I am so type of dummy! I may not be from around here and not tried their pizza but I can assure anyone that this place SUCKS just from my phone in experience with the rude women or teen who was clearly "That TIME of the MONTH"!!!
