I have only had good experiences at Fusion but today was radical! For context I've been coming to Fusion since they were located in Mississippi ave, probably 2-3 times a year and usually just see who is ever available. This time my massage therapist was Tamara. This woman worked some healing magic on my body! She took her time listening to me and observing my posture. This was not a relaxation spa experience but rather a therapeutic session. She was able to help unravel the mysterious aches, pains and stiffness that I had been attributing to aging and perimenopause. The pain in my shoulder that I've had for months is nearly gone and I have so much more mobility in my shoulder and my neck! The work she did on my neck has also released tension and stiffness in my hips! She is knowledgeable, intuitive kind and has very strong hands! Thank you Tamara! Found an opening at this place last minute one day and I'm glad I did. The masseuse was friendly and very skilled. I like a lot of pressure and she obliged. She was responsive to my needs in terms of pressure and locations that needed work. She checked in about whether I needed more or less pressure and was really on top of her game. I've received a good amount of massages and more often than not I am underwhelmed and I don't go back. That is not the case here. I will be going back for a repeat visit as soon as possible. Just got a 90 minute massage Aimee in the new location and it was fantastic!! I have been recovering from the flu, sore ribs from coughing and some lingering congestion. Also neck pain from just existing. Aimee really worked through so much of all of that hot mess and left me pain free. Also, she was able to release some of the lingering congestion. The new space is really nice! And I didn't have any trouble finding a parking spot like I did at the old location on Mississippi. I booked a couple's massage and over the phone, everything seemed promising. The person I talked to assured me that I can customize my preferences when speaking to massage therapist. During massage, I had to ask repeatedly for more pressure on my back, on my calves, etc. Massage therapist then applied a TON of pressure against my tibia, to the point of it being painful...but then not enough pressure on my calf muscle. At some point, I just gave up on giving any direction. My partner later commented on how many times I had to request for more pressure and also said his massage wasn't great either. What an amazing comfortable space, first of all. My massage with Amy was absolutely amazing. I was sincerely overwhelmed. After the massage, I told Amy that the massage incorporated all of my favorite massage techniques from around the world (India, Sri Lanka, Bali, Morocco, Thailand, etc.). I travel a lot. I am an ex-massage therapist and instructor. I bought a couples massage for my wife and I, and expected a nice, but fairly standard experience. The place is fairly non-descript, some nice, comfortable treatment rooms up some stairs in a hallway. But unless you're heading to a destination spa, that isn't really the key driver for most of us. When it came to the massage experience, however, the two therapists we had were fantastic! Tamra and Judy obviously had extensive knowledge and great technique, and checked in appropriately. They focused on those areas we had identified as problem areas, and I felt like they were treating *me*, and never felt for a second like they were following a predetermined routine, which many do. One of the best massages I have ever had, and I have at least had 1-2,000, probably more. For it to stand out for me, it has to be something great. Highly recommend fusion pdx - we are actually booking another set of sessions for next week as I type this. They are professional, talented, and reasonably priced for the level of service they offer. What's not to love? Tip: Plan an extra 30-45 minutes, and go 20 feet around the corner in the alleyway and enjoy a calming cup of the most amazing tea you've ever had at Fly Awake Tea House - great way to destress or decompress either before or after your massage. read more

Completely mediocre massage experience. Definitely more for individuals looking for a light touch and not a through massage. I booked a "nitty gritty" and confirmed it was a deep tissue when I was on the table. I asked for more pressure three or four times before giving up and accepting I wasn't going to get the massage experience I was hoping for. Aside for the fact the pressure was so light I wasn't sure she was even touching me, her approach seemed disconnected and not ituative to a trained massage therapist. She really just randomly touched my body and gently rubbed oil on it. At one point the touch was so light I nearly giggled from feeling ticklish. The massage therapist really didn't seem like this the appointment she should be doing. I know they do cupping here so maybe she is more into that. I left mildly relaxed, despite the fact I spent my (almost hour) but I was really hopping for a more deep tissue experience vs a personal gently applying oil to my body. I would not have booked if I knew this would be the experience and definitely won't book again. Also I booked a 60 minute, which I was taken in at 4:30, but the therapist didn't come back into the room until 4:45 and ended at 5:25. Nearly a 20 minute dismffernce from what I paid for and what was received. I considered asking for a discount but since the counter isn't run by a front desk person, I didn't feel comfortable staying that to the woman who spent the last 45 minutes directionless. read more

This was one of the best experiences! We often get massages when we travel and we get varying degrees of satisfaction. This time was for our anniversary and we couldn't get an appointment anywhere. Called up fusion and from the experience of setting an appointment through the massage, everything was spectacular! I had Drew. I didn't have much to say of what I needed only that my back was stiff. Probably the mid back. I can only imagine his thoughts. Right away he targeted areas that were causing me discomfort. I had no idea my lower back was more the issue and he just did his thing focusing on apparently what my muscles were telling him. Turned out to be one of the best massages I've had. I've visited them three times now for chronic head, neck and back pain and they have given me an amazing massage/experience each time (I've fallen asleep numerous times, which has never happened for me during massage). I wanted to surprise my husband with a massage as he had been working a lot lately and under some extra stress. I went on yelp searching for a place in Portland (we are here on vacation). I found Fusion and was impressed with the reviews and the price so I booked it! After his massage I asked my husband what he thought and he just goes "meh." I asked him if it was relaxing and he said no. Tamara was his masseuse. He said she was very cold and actually almost felt uncomfortable with her. She was not friendly, did not talk to him at all even before or after the massage (I know it's nice to have people not talk to you during the massage. So not talking about that). He just said even though the price was good, the massage wasn't. And he would not recommend this place or ever go back. Maybe she was having a rough day? This review is for Sarah Sabby. I booked a last minute massage last month because my back was killing me. (I have chronic pain from old surgeries.) Fusionworks was able to accommodate me and I was beyond grateful. Sarah was the massage therapist available and I'm SO glad I found her! She could tell right away what was off and needed work. My hips were uneven with my right hip being much higher than my left. She got right to work on that and evened them out. My chiropractor even gave her praise when I saw him the following day. The massage was beyond incredible. She was very nuanced and purposeful in her movements. She found every source of tension and worked diligently to resolve the pain. She had the perfect amount of pressure but checked in anyway. Every time I felt a twinge of pain during my massage she managed to find it without me saying a word. She's so intuitive. I left feeling incredible and relaxed. I told her (and I meant it) that she gave me the best massage I ever had. I've had more than I can count but I will never forget that one. I went back tonight for a 90 minute massage and I've gotta tell ya...that's where it's at. She had plenty of time to focus on my back but still work on the rest of my body without it feeling rushed. The essential oils she uses are relaxing and refreshing. The room is the perfect temperature. I'll be back to see her time and time again. I had the BEST CBD massage here. Tucked away off Mississippi, I came here for the 60 minute deep sleep massage. I have never felt so relaxed and refreshed after anything. They even called to see if I wanted to come earlier than scheduled, which worked well with my plans that day. The gravity blanket kept my body warm and relaxed and my massage was custom designed towards the level of pressure that I requested. The only thing to note is that there are other tenants sharing the building and there was some outside noise during the massage, but I will definitely be back! read more

As a visitor the Portland, you decide you do what the natives do a lot, walk. As I have spent most of the days I have been in the city walking and getting lost (walking the wrong direction), I felt I needed a good massage on the last day before I leave to head back to reality. Looking for a place near my friend's house, I yelped for a massage place. I often do this in unfamiliar places to see recommendations from locals or at least good deals. I found Fusion Bodyworks PDX and found they had a deal for first time clients. I really have not received an intense massage which I needed in a long time. I booked for a reasonable time, walked to the place (again got lost and took time to locate where I needed to go, map apps are only useful to a point). Luckily, I was in no rush and I was there early. Sometimes you also have to read the instructions sent to you on how to get to the building/office. The room I entered was calming with music playing in the background suitable for a relaxed atmosphere. In picking a masseuse, I decided a male one would be more suited for me and only one was listed. His name was Ben Rickles and I did not really see any reviews for him on Yelp only for other massage therapists within the practice. So I had no expectations. Portland is a very progressive city but also laid back. As soon as Ben walked in, I saw he was the right person because he talked softly and asked the right questions. I told him about little issues that need work but I wanted a full body massage. Then we did the session and I have to give him credit for his meticulous method of making sure all parts of the body is massaged as requested. He would pause to make sure I was not getting too much pressure (It wasn't and I asked that he can go harder on the muscles). There was also a procedure called cupping he used to relive the areas in between muscles. All I can say is this was great work by Ben and 3 days later after the massage, my body feels good. Ben was right about me having red marks from the cupping but not really feeling any pain on those areas. Definitely recommend Ben for anyone in the area or someone visiting for the first time. And don't forget to ask for any deal if you are new. Ben gave me a card for $10 off on the next visit but I don't know when I will be in PDX again this year. read more

The amazing heat of the stones warmed up the muscles and the sticks rolled out the knots. Jon found knots I didn't know I had and was amazing at getting my hip flexors moving and releasing. I had the absolute worst massage of my life here. It felt like she was tickling me for 90 minutes, even after repeatedly asking for more pressure. I would compare the strength of her hands to a wet paper straw. No connectedness whatsoever in her movements. It definitely felt like she was giving 20% of her effort and skill, at best. I'm not sure how this went unchecked in massage school and she was allowed to graduate and start working with such subpar massage skills. I'm not saying that to be mean I'm saying that out of pure shock. The best part about it was the hot towel at the end. Also her hands were clammy the whole time. I paid $150 plus tip for that. Pretty painful. I really needed a good massage too and hadn't had one in over a year. It would have been better for me not to have gotten this massage. In all fairness I think the other therapists are probably good. I just got the bad one. Out of compassion I will not name her by name. Her personality was nice. I just don't think she should be doing bodywork. It's a real crying shame. read more

Holy macaroni. I was gifted a two-hour "The Works" massage with Ryan and it. Was. Incredible. I'm not new to massage therapy and have had some amazing experiences and also some not so amazing experiences, so walking into a new situation is always nerve-wracking, especially when you know it'll be two hours long. But Ryan was SO thorough. I was amazed at how they were able to maintain such consistent and deep pressure all the way to the final minute of the session! They checked in about pressure every so often which I appreciated, and they were great at readjusting when I'd ask for less or more pressure. They've got some serious strength in those hands. Not to mention they're super knowledgeable about the physiological goings-on when I had questions. Couldn't recommend this place/them enough! Disclaimer; this was my first professional massage experience, so I have nothing to compare it to. That being said, this was one of the best experiences of my entire life! I booked their date night special for my wife and I, as we were visiting Portland on our honeymoon. From the very first phone call, which I believe was three months before our visit, they made us feel welcome. The reservation process was smooth, and the over-the-phone service was very professional. On their email confirmation program, they explain that finding the studio is rather tricky. I don't think this is the case at all! Our uber driver was able to easily navigate us there, from our hotel on N. Broadway St. (travel time was about 14 minutes). Upon arrival, we found the door quickly, and after two flights of stairs, we were greeted by Renea and ??? (sorry, I don't remember her name!) Both were amazingly hospitable, and offered us water when we came in. They split us up for a bit, and went over our massage preferences. This was extremely helpful for me, since it was my first time! My masseuse checked in to see if I had any preexisting injuries or stress that needed to be worked on; I'm a ballet dancer, so I told her my shoulders could use some work! (from all the lifting). After the consultation, they brought us into the studio, which was perfectly lit and scented. It was the perfect blend of music, lighting, and oil. The massage lasted 60 minutes, and all I can remember is the feeling of every knot in my body being relaxed into a state of stress-free bliss. Honestly you get some top quality service here. I've been using Groupon for years now and this up in the top 3 of best items I've ever gotten from that site. I would recommend calling ahead as they will honor the Groupon price even without the coupon. They did a fantastic job being flexible with making a couples massage. I even splurged and added an extra 30 minutes. My Bf said he had an amazing massage from his person and he couldn't instantly tell when he has the CBD put on his back. He said it was one of the best massages he's ever gotten. For me still in my top 3 but way up there. Bonnie did a great job. I think I should've focused on relaxing more because I couldn't get into it as deeply as I wanted to since I have bad running mind syndrome. But I would hands down book here over again.
