Needed new water heater, got quotes from Fusion and Home Depot. HD was 20% less BUT only quoted the water heater and the install with the caveat that any addition items or work would be added on. I've worked with HD before, and have had no issue, so I think they are fine I have no beef with them. Fusion gave a detailed quote of all items to be replaced and the model of water heater. The quote included new water hoses (stainless steel) , new gas hose, new earthquake straps, the addition of an expansion tank (which I think is now required for code). Everything that the job needed was on the quote. Baring unforeseen issues (which happen) I knew exactly what the cost was going to be. Some of the items may have not absolutely needed replacement, but you don't want a $30 hose to ruin a $800 water heater (which is what happened to my last water heater and why we are here today). The solution provided was complete. HD may have had a less expensive quote, but it would have gone up, so I think in the end HD was not really a better price. Given the good reviews online and detailed quote at what I felt was a fair price, the job went to fusion. From inquiry to initial response was very quick, a couple of hours maybe. All communication was timely. Install date was set for three days after my inquiry. The day of the install they were a little late, but I got a text communicating that and an arrival time. I appreciated that very much. When they showed John introduced himself, very polite, nice guy. Then they went to work. They completed the job in a few hours. They left the work area clean and removed the old water heater. The install was beautiful, I know it's a water heater, but damn it was a clean install. Fusion gets five stars. There is no aspect of this job that I can suggest a need for improvement. Price: Five Stars, since the price was close to HD, I feel that I paid a fair price Communication: Five Stars, responsive and let me know they were running late Install: five stars, you can just tell that they paid attention to detail and did a clean job. Plumbers John and Anthony arrived and went directly to work dealing with a drain stopper, the mechanism of which had corroded. They replaced the drain assembly and then as a courtesy, attempted to remedy the other sink which was draining slowly. They discovered that the drain on the second sink was also about to quit working properly due to age/corrosion and replace the drain assembly on that sink also. Everything is again working well. My gas water heater quit on me and I couldn't re-light the heater after numerous tries. I contacted the business and was asked to submit a picture of my water heater. An unfortunate turn of events has quite changed our opinion of Fusion Plumbing. After asking them to return for a much larger job they (for some reason) would not provide a written estimate. As the job entailed rather a considerable amount of teardown and planning we asked for the details of the hardware John was planning to use (again, to make decisions regarding tile replacement) but we did not get an answer. Looking back at their earlier "invoice" I realized it contained no parts/service breakdown and no rate/hr detail either, just a description of the job and a total. So, based on these observations we have decided to find a different company, which is too bad as this one had potential. (Further update) Hello Karen - here's A cut-and-paste from earlier, in response to John: "John, two things. One, my inquiry into the specifics of the hardware that would be installed permanently in my house shouldn't be a problem. Looking into the actuality of the dimensions of the pieces will be necessary to determine how it is re-tiled, and the quality of the components to be used is something that I personally will decide, based upon what the actual pieces used will be. And my concerns about the tiles are ones that I have that do not have anything to do with you, as replacing them was not your concern - however, I STILL NEED TO KNOW. Secondly, were this plumbing issue to come up in, say, real-estate context, we would need a written bid that included a breakdown of the labor and materials estimated to be used. This is not a strange request, it is a standard in a professional setting, and your inability to recognize it as such is a very disappointing to say the least. Please look into it. Have a great day." I have the rest of the receipts, as the kids like to say - except in this case it means the actual receipts (or "invoices" as you called it) showing the lack of information given. We had a plumbing emergency happen at my house which forced us to turn the water off to the entire house. After multiple calls to different plumbing companies, we were repeatedly told that none of them could get to us for three weeks or longer. That is until we called John at Fusion Plumbing. John successfully accomplished this lying on his side working through an opening he sawed through the bottom shelf in a cabinet. He and his apprentice then found the shutoff valves for both outdoor spigots In obscure locations in cabinets 20-30 feet from the spigot without causing us to feel like novices. I can't sing the praises of Fusion Plumbing enough. I had a handy person come to fix a drippy faucet and they fixed the drip but messed up the pipes so the faucet no longer could attach.
