Brenden was exceptional! We just moved into our home. We had a home inspection and our plumbing came back all good! A couple days after we moved in, we kept hearing the most bizarre sounds in the wall. We researched plumbing companies & Cornels came right up. I reached out on a Tuesday and got a response within minutes! We were able to chat via text which was honestly very convenient. They were able to address my concerns professionally & were soooo friendly. I was able to get scheduled the very next day. Wednesday morning rolled around and I got a text with Brenden's picture, which made me feel super safe and even provided a little information about him. He then called and asked if it was a good time for him to head over and gave his ETA. When Brenden arrived he was friendly, warm, and so professional. He was able to easily see what was going on, explain to me in a way I could understand what was going on, and assured me if we still continued to hear the noise to call back. Due to a plumber error with Cornel, it resulted in $40K of damage to my home. The claim is in subrugation, but in the meantime, my home insurance has gone up $1000 a year and now other insurance companies will not consider me for home insurance. The one company that will will take me on will not write in a water sewer backup clause, and there is no way I would not have that coverage. Due to the bathtub faucet not being put back together correctly, I had flooding in my kitchen, bedroom closet and master bathroom. Because the tile could not be matched, the entire bathroom had to be redone. Not only did I have 6 months of disruption/construction in my house, I'm now going to pay more in insurance and I don't have the ability to change my insurance without high risk to me financially. I do not recommend this company. Nobody ever reached out to me after the damage, however they did call the Flood Pros without telling me that they had done so when I called in a panic on a Saturday night. The initial reason I called them was to fix an bathtub faucet that was dripping in the tub, and I ended up with a disaster. read more

If there is one way I'd describe Cornel's, it'd be customer service. We've been using Cornel's for over 15 years and they have never disappointed us. This time they were out to replace a sump pump. James communicated when he was coming, arrived on time, and did the job quickly. He was friendly and talked at my level. Definitely the kind of customer service you'd expect from Cornel's. If you all want to have your scheduling done that way, then that's on you but there are companies who can schedule in advance and stick with that timeframe. Sometimes, they even have different crews to make sure that someone is available. While some customers are fine with this way of doing business, some are not. Some of us have tighter schedules and need to schedule services in advance, and need a company who can adhere to that appointment time. I've had techs who could not answer a single question I asked. Things I felt should have been very basic plumbing/HVAC questions to an expert, I could not get answered without the tech calling the office first. And this was not a one-off event, it happens more often than not. I've stopped asking most of your techs questions because it means they'll be there twice as long, since they'll have to call the office each time. Something that shouldn't take longer than 30-60 minutes, takes 2-3 hours. Every service takes so long when you guys come out because they're always "on hold with the office" trying to get every little thing done. Maybe if this practice was changed, you'd be able to coordinate scheduling better. You say customers are welcome to compare options but I was told I would only get that price if I signed right now because it was a "special." I had to sign it before he left, to get that price which again, was nearly double the average of all of the other quotes I received, despite him of course saying that's the cheapest offer I would find anywhere. I had to sit around for 20 minutes while he called the office to get that "special" price from the boss, despite me directly asking him to leave and contact me later with the price because I had something else I needed to do. He refused to do so, saying he was required to give me a price before leaving. He had already been there long enough, trying to convince me of all the things that were wrong (even though my system functioned perfectly fine, I was pre-emptively getting quotes in consideration of replacing in the next 2 years just due to age). He went as far as telling me that my existing system was no longer legal and I needed to replace it ASAP. Every other company that came out, laughed when I told them what was said. They said it was not illegal, it would just be more expensive to get the old parts going forward, versus replacing it with a newer system. That is not giving us time to make a decision. Quite the opposite. It's bad sales tactics and a waste of my time. And no, I did not misunderstand your salesman. I even asked him to stop trying to push it because I was not going to sign today regardless, as I want quotes from multiple companies before I make a decision, if I even decided to replace it this year. It was very clear your salesman was trying to scare me into a purchase. You can stand behind your salesman all you want. The reviews are for other potential customers to be aware of. read more

Had used Cornel's once before when they had a good deal on HVAC maintenance so when our water heater quit on us last week I reached out via Yelp chat to see if/when they could take a look. Thru the bot set up a next day appt (initially for 12-2p but then the confirmation came thru at a later time range, but whatever). Showed up on time and diagnosed the problem (old age). Gave us a few options to resolve and ultimately feel that they gave us good advice without significant upsell. But when you need hot water your back is up against a wall and they know that, so... Cornel himself came thru with the replacement heater so it was much appreciated that we got it replaced right away. Did not take any time to compare quotes. No idea what water heater replacement service should go for these days. But btwn this job and the HVAC cleaning last year I think we got a decent value. read more

We first reached out to Cornel's to potentially have a tankless water heater installed. Eric came by and actually suggested a much cheaper and efficient alternative to our need, which was instant hot water in our showers. We decided to go ahead and get a recirculating pump installed. We also decided to get a Flo by Moen installed along with repairs to an outdoor hose bib that was defective. Thomas came and did the work. He unthreaded the difficult to service hose bib, and replaced it. He flushed our water heater and installed the Flo. He also installed the recirculating pump. Shortly after the install, we started to see really high water pressure in our system (spiking to 132 psi overnight!) and we also got really hot water in our sink in the mornings. Turns out, we had a bad PRV. I called Cornel's and Eric came back out the very next day, audited our system, identified the faulty PRV and fixed us up the same day! He also added a thermal expansion tank to our water heater. We also had a micro leak losing about a gallon of water a day, that was solved too! Per Eric, it's likely due to the tremendous water pressure we had. I really can't recommend these guys enough. Thorough work, informative and stand behind their work. And also, highly recommend getting something to monitor your water system. read more

I do not recommend Cornel's plumbing & heating. The company's employees do not do quality work. Cornel installed a high efficiency furnace for me. About 6 months later, during winter, the PVC vent started leaking. Had to call them back to fix it. They also installed an air condition. The refrigerant leaked out and they came back to recharge it. About a year later, a different contractor observed that there was no service valve cap nor service port cap, oil in the insulation, and a leak on braze joint to suction service valve. Further, the unit was wired only for stage 1 cooling. The contractor charged $800 to fix the problem. Finally, I had them install a kitchen faucet. The person doing the install did not install plumbers putty so water continually leaks into the area under the sink. read more

Beware: My water bill was at summertime levels in the winter, so I knew I had a leak. The guy could find no leak but tried to convince me the leak he couldn't find meant I needed an entire replace of ALL piping in the house. Estimate: 30,000 dollars. We've had a leaky toilet, a backed up laundry drain/tub and finally just said do a complete re-pipe/redrain for a 42 yr old home. The technicians who come out are very polite and professional, but the service approach feels very sales-driven. I've had them come out twice for routine annual inspection (signed up for the "maintenance plan"). These inspections always turn into several high-priced repair recommendations, thousands of dollars, without clear diagnostic evidence. Normal aging signs (like minor surface rust) are presented as major failures, and pricess are extremely high compared to other heating and air conditioning companies in the area. The maintenance plan I signed up for sounded useful, but these visits focus on identify "urgent" problems to quote rather than actually performing the tune-up. After getting a second opinion, their repairs were confirmed as unnecessary. The tactics used during the inspection felt questionable and overly aggressive. I also noticed a pattern in the reviews afterward: the 5-star ratings are extremely enthusiastic, while many of the 1- and 2-star reviews on yelp and google describe experiences nearly identical to mine. I strongly recommend getting an independent second opinion before approving any major furnace or HVAC repair. read more

If I went to Home Depot, the kit and a handle costs around $35 each. That is completely insane but he also quoted me to install 3 brand new toilets for the same price!!! Poor sales rep. doesnt response. I have to call 3x and leave a message to the operator since he didnt respond to my text message. And when he does, he will text once and doesnt response to the rest of your question. Then change the initial quote, more expensive, since he misquoted from 50ft to 150ft service for a new line. I mean he was literally at the house when we scheduled an estimate. You would think for a big job, they will be on top of it, to make sure they follow up. The last time I called Cornel, I told the receptionist if I dont hear from him, I will move forward and get another estimate from a different company. It has been already difficult for him to respond from the beginning, let alone if they have started the job. We end up having Pex Plumbing and Pipping completely replace our waterline. He was right on time, very friendly & professional, and able to discern & resolve our minor issue and wrap up within 30 minutes. I'm an inquisitive homeowner, and he was happy to thoroughly explain and show what he did and why. A couple days ago we had Thomas here to replace our water heater. As with Hunter, he was happy to explain things and worked quietly & continuously until completion. During both visits we were given notification when they were on their way, and both were on time and arrived within the promised windows. I have been thrilled with every service, every time Cornel's has ever been to my home for plumbing work. My house is very complicated with multiple hot water heaters due to additions done at different times. That plus working with a subpar contractor on a remodel i ended up with several problems no one could figure out until Cornel came. This is the single worst contractor I've ever encountered. They did nothing but try to overcharge and upsell me, and would not do only the work I needed. Details: A year ago I paid for a service plan that got me proactive service on my HVAC system and prioritized and discounted service for HVAC and plumbing. I have two bathroom sinks that need the stopper repaired. I called them, their technician came out, looked at it, showed me the part that needs to be replaced on each sink, and said he'd come back with an estimate. He also asked me if there was anything else I'd like him to look at. I showed him a minor issue with the handle on one of our toilets. He told me my best bet would be to just get a replacement handle at Home Depot. He then came in with the estimate for the sinks, which involved replacing a lot of hardware (not just the part that was broken) for more than $500. He also had an option to do that work and to replace the entire toilet (which wasn't even part of the service call). I asked him why he couldn't just replace to small part that needs to be replaced. He said I could go to Home Depot and buy that part and do it myself. I said I understood that, but that my expectation is that if I called a plumber they would do that for me and charge me a fee. He went back to talk to his boss and they now said they could replace just the part I needed on both sinks for $200 (which is about what I thought I'd have to pay) but only if I agreed to have them replace the toilet. Needless to say they did not get my business. I'm leaving a one star review but only because Yelp won't let me mark it as zero stars. read more

They do fine work, I guess? The people who bought my old place in Beaverton haven't sued me, so I assume they're fine in terms of what they do, but I will not hire them again, and I will not even have them bid jobs in my home again. For my most recent job I had them bid two hose bib replacements and assistance with a wonky shower handle. They bid the highest by around 30% on the hose bibs which wasn't criminal even though it was steep. For the shower handle, I was quoted that the cartridge was busted and that it required a full replacement. $1100. In their bid they claimed this diagnosis based on ... nothing! I had full view of the estimating plumber: He never turned the shower fixture on, he just jiggled the handle a little, and made assumptions. The plumber who beat them came lower on the hose bibs, even though he was second highest of all the other bids that I got. There was, however, no charge for the shower handle issue though, as it was a matter of a loose screw. The cartridge was absolutely fine. I've been using the shower off and on for two weeks now and it's all good. I don't object to paying more sometimes, but I STRENUOUSLY resent being lied to or shined. I paid for the privilege of them coming to my house and lying to me, so I'm done. read more
