Bottom left vegetarian Veg. Butter Chicken and top right Mango Lassi and Paneer Butter Masala with Garlic Naan
    Han C.

Located in an unassuming strip mall, I was excited to try this vegetarian Indian restaurant when I saw the sign put up. My friend and I went on a Friday around 6:15 pm. We were the only ones there until 7:00 pm when another couple came. I was pretty excited to try their food, but found what we got was just average (maybe we didn't try the right dishes?). Ever since Swad closed back in 2019, I have been on a hunt for some good Indian food. I found Sangam Chettinad on Parmer to be more flavorful than Fusion. I do super appreciate the plant based chicken and glad that is an option. We first got the samosa chaat as an appetizer which I feel is a pretty common Indian dish. Usually with most samosa chaat I expect to get bit of savory, a bit of spicy, a bit of sweet from the chutney and a little crispy. Instead I felt the samosa chaat's flavor didn't shine through as much as it could have been as it was doused in yogurt and didn't allow the chutneys and spices from the samosa to shine. Next we had garlic naan. The naan was thin and crispy with generous garlic on top. I think I am used to a more fluffy, thick naan to eat with curry, but it was still yummy overall. Next up was the plant based butter chicken. It did have a nice tang to it, but I wish I could have tasted more of the spices. We weren't offered any option to choose a spice level, but if we were I would have chosen a more spicier level as it was a little more bland than I like. I would have also liked a slightly thicker curry - it was a little watery for me. We then had paneer butter masala. This curry was better than the butter chicken - I could taste the spices more and it was a thicker curry. I still would have preferred a spicier version for more oomph. We had the mango lassi and that was pretty good! Nice and creamy with good mango flavor. Parking is free and plentiful. Would I try again? I am not sure and maybe it's from a lack of not ordering the right things, but based on 3 dishes we tried would be hesitant to go again.

    Chole bhatura

I tried this place as one of the high following page on Instagram was promoting this. Something new so thought we'll try on Friday evening. Decent crowd, 3-4 tables were full of people. We ordered chole bhatura and paneer lababdar and laccha Parantha. Paper menu had a lower price than what I was being charged so I asked the lady on counter. She gave reasoning that that was offer just expired and was only there for first 4 weeks. She didn't say anything like yeah we need to update our menu. You have to order at counter and then go take any seat. We waited for 20 mins for chole bhatura and another 10 mins for paneer and Parantha. Bhatura was not fluffy and had a thick layer. My husband suspected that it's frozen, I couldn't tell either way. Paneer Curry was average. I definitely wouldn't recommend this to my friend circle until I try something better at this place. We strongly believe restaurant should spend some money in decent cutlery, food presentation and ambience. Plates from other tables (who had left already) were there as it is. We were there for almost 1 hrs and didn't see anyone picking this. Not a big thing but just helps with view of the surrounding. Another feedback to owner.

Fusion Tadka is hands down one of the best places for vegetarian sizzlers. The tandoori sizzler was excellent, and the paneer tikka was absolutely out of this world. We also tried the dal makhni and some Indo-Chinese dishes, and everything was consistently great. Big plus--they're very accommodating with no onion, no garlic requests. An amazing spot for vegetarians looking for bold flavors.

Paneer Lababdar, Bharwan Aloo, gattein, Bullet Naan, Butter Naan

We have been to Fusion Tadka twice and had a great experience both times. Our last visit, we ordered Paneer Lababdar, Bharwan Aloo, and Gattein ki Sabji. The Paneer was absolutely lababdar, aka out of the world. And the other 2 dishes were very good too. And their naans are awesome too - had the garlic and bullet naans. And to top it off, this is a vegetarian restaurant which I

It's also filled with Indian families and customers, which is always a good sign that the food is the real deal! On my visit, I ordered the egg curry and a dosa, and both were excellent. The egg curry was rich, flavorful, and perfectly spiced, while the dosa was fresh, crispy, and delicious. They also have a wide variety of vegetarian options, so there's something for everyone. The food tasted fresh, the portions were satisfying, and the service was friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Overall, this is one of the better places in Austin for authentic Indian food. If you're looking for tasty, freshly made dishes and a genuine Indian dining experience, I highly recommend checking it out.

They have an overwhelming selection of biryanis with no description, so we consulted ChatGPT for advice. I did ask the server, but he didn't really explain any of the options and just recommended one. It would've been helpful for the menu to have just a little description of each type of biryani for those unfamiliar with it. I got the chicken dum biryani because it seemed like a simple, basic option. It was delicious. I asked for it less spicy, which just means they add more rice, and it was great for my wimpy tasty buds. My friend got the goat dum biryani. The portion was huge and great for two meals for me, while it was three meals for my slender friend. We also got the garlic naan, which was really cripsy and tasty. I prefer softer naan, but my friend loved the crisp. They gave us room temperature water, and I eventually asked if they had ice because my mouth was on fire. They brought me a small cup of ice. I think I really needed a whole pitcher of ice water to help temporarily cool my mouth (I know it doesn't actually help with the spice, but it feels like it does). The server was okay but didn't help us with explaining the dishes after we asked. We were also so confused if we were supposed to go up to pay at the counter or not, and we waited at least 15 minutes before finally going up there. The server instantly followed us and asked what we needed. Turns out they are supposed to come to your table when you pay.

Before going, we browsed the online menu, and what immediately caught my attention was the focus on the west coast of India, especially Goa, Mangalore, and Kerala. It was refreshing to see something beyond the usual North Indian or standard South Indian fare that most restaurants tend to offer. We were tempted to order widely, but in the end we chose two starters and one entrée. The mushroom and paneer starters were both excellent, yet very different from each other. The paneer was smooth and rich, almost comforting in its finish, while the mushroom dish had a gentle tang that brightened every bite. The contrast worked beautifully. For the entrée, we chose the Bunt Kori Gassi, a Mangalorean chicken dish. The flavors were delicate and well balanced, with spices that enhanced rather than overwhelmed. We paired it with Malabar parottas and aappams, which were perfect for soaking up the gravy. Even the complimentary rice stood out. It was not the usual basmati, but a more local variety, a small detail that showed the thoughtfulness behind the meal. The sol kadhi, made with kokum, brought back memories of home. It had that familiar cooling tang that is hard to replicate. We finished with mango kulfi, which was subtle, not overly sweet, and a gentle way to end the meal. The chef came out to greet us personally, which made the experience even more meaningful. He explained that they use mostly organic ingredients and avoid artificial colors. We shared our appreciation for both the food and the service and left hoping they continue to maintain these standards. The menu is already being expanded, including a section for more traditional Indian restaurant offerings. We are looking forward to returning and exploring more of what they have to offer.

One of the most memorable dishes we had was a special that our server highly recommended--and it was truly a showstopper. I wish I had gotten the exact name because I can't find it on their online menu, but visually and flavor-wise it was stunning. It came wrapped and cooked in a banana leaf, layered with rich, velvety saag, what tasted like thin dosa or chapati layers, egg, aromatic spices, tender chunks of meat, and curry, all melded together into this beautifully perfumed, steamy package. It was served with a cooling yogurt sauce and a chili sauce that balanced the heat perfectly. The presentation alone was gorgeous, and the flavors were deep, earthy, and incredibly comforting. We also ordered the curry goat, which was delicately spiced with a wonderful, slow-building heat. The meat was tender, the gravy rich without being heavy, and it paired perfectly with the simple white rice that let the complex spices shine. The tandoori goat chops were the family favorite by far. Everyone loved the smoky char and bold marinade. Personally, I found them a bit softer than I prefer, but the flavor was outstanding--robust, well-seasoned, and unmistakably tandoori. Finally, we ordered the Tandoori Pomfret to go, and I had it later with rice porridge. It was absolutely scrumptious. The fish was fragrant, beautifully spiced, and still juicy, making it the perfect comfort meal with the warm, soothing porridge. Overall, Subham Chettinad Grill delivers authentic, soulful Indian cooking with layers of spice, heat, and aroma that feel both traditional and thoughtfully prepared. If you're looking for real South Indian and Chettinad-style flavors in Austin, this place is a must-try.
