Food used to be pretty good. Ordered from them last night and food was terrible, very disappointed since I spent about $100 on t. House Fried Rice, was not fried and simply white steamed rice with only carrots, peas and onions. No shrimp, chicken, pork strips, ham or bean sprouts, the rice was flavorless. Chicken Wings & Crab Rangoon burnt and hard. Peking Ravioli was burnt on one side and uncooked dough on the other(on a side note - they forgot the ginger sauce, so we made a 2nd trip back to pick up the ginger sauce) Green Beans with chicken was basically shriveled up green beans with about 4 tiny pieces of paper thin chicken. We stopped by for a bento box lunch. People were kind of nice but food wasn't good. The waitress said there is no flexibility for substituting pork gyoza with veggie gyoza so we didn't get any gyoza but still charged full. Overall ingredient quality is very low. Even rice wasn't good. Our impression was that restaurant management is so worried about prices and portions so everything is small, low quality with no flexibility. The worst Chinese food I've ever had and I've been eating it for 70 years. Crispy beef is soggy fat: inedible. Pork fried rice is tasteless and the pork so chewy it must be spit out. I came here with my daughter for lunch. There was one other person in the entire place and he was sitting at the bar. The service was soooooooooooooooooo slow. Idk what the deal was. The food portions were huge and everything tasted good. For the price it was a great deal. I had a sprite to drink which was a fountain drink and cost $3.50. They charge me another $3.50 for a refill but didn't mention it to me that there were no refills on fountain drinks they just charged me for it. Came in here on a Friday night looking for a sit down sushi place. The other options in the area were take out or delivery only. They had a great drink selection and I got to order a fun fruity cocktail. Then they brought us out a crab Rangoon order on the house - it was hot and delicious! We ordered the golden roll, the fusion roll, and the spicy salmon roll and all were very good. Looked and tasted delicious! Went there for dinner. Service was slow. We got there ten minutes before the table next to us filled, yet the table next us had their orders taken first. They had their drinks before someone finally walked over to us. Aside from the mama's dumplings, the food was nothing special. Thought it was kind of bland, which was disappointing. Food did arrive quickly though. It took several minutes before someone came to see if we wanted our check, and then another several minutes for it to actually arrive. I searched through my bag for cash because I figured it was going to take quite a long time for them to get my credit card and return it to me. I did watch the table next to us receive great service. They were joking with those patrons, suggesting dishes, and were prompt to bring them more food and drinks in the evening. We almost left because it took so long for someone to take our orders. We have been consistently happy with Fusion Taste during the many meals we've had there. The cuisine is not particularly authentic nor groundbreaking, but what you do get is solid Chinese and Japanese food that is well prepared by an attentive staff. We have had their cheap lunch buffet, which is basic but good for a quick lunch. We've enjoyed their lunch specials, and their sushi. All have been good and spiced according to our tastes. Their Peking Duck is quite good, too. Note on expectations: this is not the best sushi, best Chinese, nor best Japanese in the area. It's a good place with good prices on good food. I got takeout from Fusion Taste last night. The food is always really but this time.. I found something IN one of my pork dumplings. When I came home from school I opened up the few dumplings that were still there. I took a bite and something didn't feel right in my mouth. Aw Jeez... Here comes a kinda bad review: My one and I went here one evening on restaurant roulette and were not expecting what transpired. The place was empty which was fine because it was quiet. We saw a sign for Twin Lobster Ginger and Scallion. The waitress was insistent that we order it, not suggesting, but insistent. I wanted to order duck but she said, "No, you order lobster." WTF. Mo asked for something else on the menu and the waitress again insisted, "No, you order mango pork fried rice." Mo ordered a Scorpion Bowl and AGAIN, "No, you get Mai Tai." I broke down and ordered the Lobster -Twin for me and Single for Mo, both Ginger and Scallion. She now says, "No, you get Basil Lobster." At this point it was than obvious they just wanted to use up old food that was already made, a.k.a., leftovers. Oh no. She came back and said, "...only two Ginger and Scallion Lobster." Whatever. The Lobster came out quickly and it was base. It was stone cold to the touch and the veggies were all limp and it was clearly apparent this was fished out of the fridge and old AF and nuked. The tail was barely warm, if at all, and the sauce was all coagulated and janky. The Mai Tai drinks came in a pint beer glass and had no apparent alcohol at all and was just like drinking straight Mr. T's Mai Tai mix. The upside was that we got oysters and fried shrimp that were actually very good and well presented and quite festivus. I got Hot n' Sour Soup which had the "now trending" inexpensive Pennsylvania mushrooms instead of the expensive wood ear mushrooms. (I have noticed this recent trend and it's no bueno.) We did get unexpected free shots of an ad hoc vodka drink from the vivacious and kooky waitress and a free dessert cake which was "fun and festive" as Sandra Lee would say. Generally, I'm not a big fan of places that combine different types of Asian foods. But, I have to say that Fusion Taste does a pretty great job, which was to my surprise. My friends and I were both quite hungry and ordered a good amount of food. They definitely do not skimp on quantity of food. We got the Elyse Special Maki roll, which consisted of spicy cooked scallops, king crabmeat and topped off with yellow tail. I was expecting that because there was cooked scallops, the sushi would be a warm sushi roll but too my surprise, it was cold because of the yellowtail. I wasn't a particular fan but I think in part because I was expecting something warm. We also got the Caterpiller Roll and avocado rolls. Both were delicious and pretty standard rolls. Price was definitely reasonable. We also got an order from the Chinese menu since my friend and I wanted something to fill us up more than the sushi and we ordered the Sauteed Vegetables with Bean Curd. My friend wanted it to be spicy so we asked the waitress if she could accommodate and they did so without any problems. The dish was to my surprise, very delicious especially for a restaurant trying to do both Chinese and Japanese flare. The service was great and friendly. The prices were reasonable. Also, asking me for my number (Which she just called) In 20 minutes the they call back. Re-repeat my order. My address, number (Again, that they just called.) I spend 8 minutes on the phone with a EXTREMELY rude person. Who lets me know repeatedly that I'm wrong, and what I got was shrimp. You had me at crab rangoon. I am a regular at this low-key, casual restaurant offering a blend of Chinese and Japanese cuisine, hence the name Fusion, and possibly the best crab rangoons I have ever eaten. Located in Arlington Center, Fusion is a hidden gem tucked away near the main Arlington Fire Department. My friends and I discovered it several years ago and it has been our go- to place when the Chinese food craving strikes. Yes, I do realize most American- style Chinese food is pretty average, however some restaurants do prepare this standard fare better than others. Fusion is definitely worthy of four stars in the food and service department. They offer an extensive menu including the usual American- Chinese appetizers (chicken fingers, steak teriyaki, boneless ribs, etc.) and many vegetable, chicken, seafood, and beef dishes. Japanese inspired dishes compliment the menu with veggie tempura, edamame, gyoza, and of course the amazing sushi. The service at Fusion is friendly and we usually see the same familiar, smiling faces on each visit. Fusion has a large bar with TVs so it is a great option to catch a game with friends while enjoying a couple of Mai Tais. The atmosphere is no-frills, yet cozy with plenty of tables to accomodate during busy dinner hours. I have also taken advantage of the delivery service on lazy nights at home and find it fast and reliable. A couple years ago I decided to give sushi a try. Fusion was actually the very first place I tried the Japanese specialty and I was instantly hooked. A friend, who was already a sushi expert, ordered us the Love Boat for my first sushi experience. I watched in amazement as the large, wooden boat piled with sushi rolls and sashimi pieces was delivered to our table. The sushi menu carries a large selection of rolls available separately or in combo platters to share amongst friends. This weekend I tried the Christmas Maki and the spicy Kiss the Fire - both excellent. I also really enjoy the Snow Mountain Maki consisting of shrimp tempura and crab meat. Was very disappointed in this restaurant and meal. I thought it might be a little better than your basic Americanized Chinese restaurant but it was not. The general decor of the place is pleasant and I liked the mixed drink I ordered. The problem was the food. I ordered a Kung Pao chicken ($10) and a side of rice. The dish wasn't bad but was not spicy as asked. Also it was incredibly overpowered by the amount of celery in the dish (like 50% celery, 35% chicken, and 15% peppers). Just too much, I couldn't taste much of anything else but celery. On a high note, the dish wasn't greasy at all. Wife ordered spicy vegetable Moo Shi ($9). I tried quite a bit of it but it was not spicy at all. The worst of it was the plate of moo shi veggies had a large pool of liquid that was probably whatever the veggies were cooked in but it made the plate of veggies into a stew. Making a moo shi taco was a soggy mess with liquid just constantly pouring out. It also really made all the veggies taste bland. We also ordered a couple of rolls. The spider roll ($9) and crazy maki ($7.25) both had this overly cooked rice in it. The rice kinda tasted soggy to me while my wife said it tasted watery. In any case, it was not right and was more like plain overly cooked steamed rice and had no trace of vinegar at all. We clearly did not get sushi rice in our maki. We were also irritated that they only served 5 pieces per roll when the menu clearly identified 6 per roll. Again, very disappointing meal. Service was pleasant enough but apathetic about our comment about receiving 5 pieces per roll vs 6. I would've been happier in a basic Americanized hole-in-the-wall. Lastly, not sure where the fusion comes into play. No fusion menu items, just straight up Chinese or Japanese items. read more

Let me clarify that I do not have qualms against one ethnicity creating food of another ethnicity. The food needs not need to be genuine but it DOES need to be good whether it truly represents the cultural food or does an innovative spin on it (ie fusion). Unfortunately Mifune falls short on both counts. It is a Japanese restaurant located in Arlington Center that is run by Chinese people. It has Japanese and Chinese cuisine but neither is good. The atmosphere is nice and quiet, the waitstaff is attentive, and the food is relatively inexpensive (about $10 each) I went with a friend during lunch one weekend. I ordered from the Japanese menu and got a sushi lunch while my friends ordered a Chinese set menu. Sushi: it was not fresh at all, you can taste how the top exterior of the fish was dried and old. Fish really is the centerpeice of sushi and it definitely should not be that way! Chinese set menu: It served the type of food that many Americans would expect to see: roast pork, egg rolls, and fried rice but the pork was overly sweet, the egg rolls dried, and fried rice was overly soy-sauced. It was catering to a bad concept of Americanized Chinese food. If you don't expect much out of your food, Mifune would do but for me it is a one time experience. Sidenote: I am Chinese and my dad used to work in a Chinese restaurant and is an amazing cook. So I may be spoiled a bit but I just want to supply a review from someone who has eaten much Chinese and Japanese food. read more

This may have been the worst meal I have had in Arlington thus far. I moved to this cute little town in September and nearly every where I have dined has been superb and so it was a big surprise to me that this restaurant is even in business. The service: I arrived with my two best friends and we were so hungry that the wood paneling would have probably tasted amazing. We ordered and one meal came out five minutes before the second and about thirty minutes before the third...it was down right odd. I mentioned we were three best friends so we could share, but what if we weren't? There was no reason for this either it was hardly very busy. The meal: HORRIBLE. I ordered the Chilean Sea bass. I thought the fish would be fresh at a sushi restaurant...but I am afraid it wasn't. The fish was rubbery and drenched in a very salty fish sauce. I ate because I was so hungry...which was stupid. I now feel physically ill and flushed. My friend liked her sushi a lot but by the time she got it she was ready to go and annoyed. My other friend ordered a Chinese steak dish which was good but terribly oily. Atmosphere: It seemed chill and quiet which was really nice. The jazz music did not seem very fitting though and there was a really cheesy man at the bar hitting on three teenagers....not their fault but still yucky. Cost: I suppose I don't even have to write this based on my earlier comments but paying for this meal may have stung the most... it was a bit pricey regardless but for what we ate down right ridiculous. read more

We received a coupon for this place in our little suburban circular, and it expired this week, so we tried Mifune out. Parking and seating were painless for a Saturday night at 7:30. The three of us started with an amuse from the sushi bar, unexpected and lovely (I think it was spicy tuna with tobiko in a wonton cup). Agedashi tofu was crispy on the outside and silky inside, and the dashi was flavorful. Sushi included a ton of rolls: rock n roll (x3 - voted best value for price), caterpillar, eel cucumber, asparagus, sweet potato tempura, yellowtail scallion, cucumber, and one of the special rolls. Also: Japanese snapper special sashimi, yellowtail sushi, and two pieces of tamago. I judge a place on the quality of the tamago -- Mifune's was very good. The egg texture was right, and it was slightly but not overly sweet. The rice was a very small grain, and served a little warm, which I prefer. The rolls were a great value for the price, and the snapper special was served with a garnish of the actual fish the piece was sliced out of, which was pretty cool looking. I was particularly fond of the sweet potato rolls, which were huge and the tempura was a good ratio of batter to veggie. The presentation was pretty boring, other than the fish garnish. Four big, white platters. I prefer the boats and the wood blocks and such. Dessert completely disappointing, clearly out of a box, slightly freezer-burned, dry chocolate cake. Skip it and eat more sushi. Our total was $90 for appetizer, 10 rolls, and 3 sushi/sashimi, plus the dessert. We had a coupon for $15 off of $100 in food. Our server helped us find some takeout that put us just over the needed hundred, so I basically took home an extra sweet and sour chicken and fried rice dinner for free. I'm on the fence about how I feel about this place. It's comforting to know it exists, but the prices seem to change every time I go. If I do go, I try and only do so during lunch hours (in order to get the lunch menu), but the last time I did that, I was given a regular menu and was told they weren't serving the lunch menu. It was definitely lunch time and it was the middle of a weekday. The portions are a bit expensive compared to other local Asian places, probably impacted by their attempt to have a more lounge-like atmosphere. I am a creature of comfort, so I tend to order the same thing every time -- General Gau's chicken. However, for some reason I can not quite comprehend, it never tastes the same. One day, it's very spicy; the next, it's very mild. Sometimes, even the chicken itself tastes very different. The servers are not very nice. A friend and I once shared a dish and the waitress expressed annoyance. Can you blame us for not wanting to pay for two separate dishes when we couldn't even finish the one we shared? The same waitress asked if we wanted our sodas refilled, but failed to mention that there was a fee for soda refills. That adds up at the end of a meal if you've had several glasses. It's the type of place I go to when I'm hungry and I don't want to wait for my food to be thoroughly prepared... or in the middle of the day during a lunch special. Service is great, the bartender is really friendly, and so was our waitress. I had some Tsingtao brews, and my broseph Greg had Sapporo tall guys. Pupu platter helped quell the buzz - tasty ribs and wings, those were the strong points of the plattah. Greg was concerned that the scorpion bowl had Sterno fuel lit up in the center! What a sweet kid! Didn't know that it was actually 151. Even though the Celtics lost, I was glad that I was able to calm Greggy's nerves about the potability of flaming cocktails. Went for the first time over the weekend for an early lunch with my dad and my son who is a toddler. We were the only patrons there and the place looked clean. We ordered two entrees off the lunch menu, one was sweet and sour chicken and the other was an appetizer combo. I got the latter with brown rice and my dad got pork fried rice with his S&S chicken. We both got egg rolls and paid extra for won ton soup. Service was good though it took some time to get our food. I chalked this up to it being 11:30 am, early time for lunch. There were at least 4-5 staff members there. When we arrived my son was sleeping in his stroller. He woke 30 mind into our meal, nibbled on some of my brown rice before we asked for to go boxes and waited 15 mins for our check. By this time there were 4 more tables of 1-2 people who had arrived but given the amount of staff members I was annoyed.
