Mala Pot

One look at their menu and you know it's gonna be good. They have a lot of authentic dishes that are a bit rarer to see in this area. I've only visited twice so far, so I'll have to update as I try more dishes from their huge menu. Spicy Hot Oil Seared Noodles: The hand-pulled noodles are friggin' delicious. Perfect chew. The oil is also amazingly garlicky and spicy. Pretty comparable to Gene's Chinese Flatbread, but unfortunately these are pricier ($12 vs $9). Mala Xiang Guo: This is the legit stuff. Any place with this on their menu looks a bit more authentic in my eyes. It's honestly a great deal; $28-30 for 3-4 meals worth of food. It's basically hotpot without the soup, packed full of yummy ingredients. Cold Skin Noodles: This is another one of those authentic dishes you usually can't find. Unfortunately, this one was a little disappointing as the noodles were pretty stuck together. Still decent, though! Crab Rangoon: These are pretty standard, but they come free if you order more than $35! Ask about the coupon when you place your order. White Rice: Yes, I know this is a weird thing to review, but their white rice is top notch. It's perfectly cooked and is so aromatic. I need to ask them what brand they use!

Spicy hand pulled noodle with hot oil blew my mind. It could be the best dish I've eaten in the Boston area. Location doesn't look like much, but don't be dismayed, they know what they are doing with their hand pulled noodles. I'm stuffed. Roll me home. +++ Took away one point after seeing how dirty the bathroom door and light switch were. Please dear lord, clean this and earn back your 5 star review. It's so gross. But the food is so good

Hole in the wall Chinese restaurant with friendly service. Accepts card payments with a minimum of $15 I believe. The food itself was okay. The broth for the beef noodle soup lacked depth and the meat quality was not good. The noodles were also over done and did not have the chew that the handmade noodles usually have. I personally enjoyed the potstickers. My partner did not though since the skin was on the thicker side. It really depends on your preference! Cumin lamb burger was good but I've had better

Far exceeded my expectations. The food is DELICIOUS. The hand pulled noodles are PERFECT. The flavor is ON POINT. The ambiance though does not exist so if you are looking for a great sit down experience, it is not for you. It is however, great for good food or takeout. The shop itself is a little small and old looking, but they definitely make it taste like home. We intentionally ordered a lot, and they were judging us in Chinese thinking I didn't understand. But it's fine, only reason I took a star off. Crab rangoons were free because we ordered over $30. The lamb cumin burger was cooked really well, well seasoned, and could be a great snack. The dumplings are definitely homemade but just not for me. The NOODLES THOUGH. I'd come back over and over just for that. Fair warning though the hot chili oil one without the soup has tons of garlic if you aren't into that. I liked the soup less one more but both are delicious.

I love Home Taste! It really does feel like a taste of home. My family is from the Henan region so their Henan hand pulled noodle soup really hits the spot. Their "Chinese burgers" are delicious and made me so nostalgic for Chinese street food. Their more American Chinese food dishes like orange chicken, general Taos chicken, etc are decent as well. However, I would suggest mostly ordering their noodles dishes because it's the most worth it. Their lo mein and chili oil noodles with bok choy are so good - again it's the hand pulled noodles that really make their noodles dishes so authentic and tasty.

Doesn't allow dine in apparently yet there's been recent posts that people are dining in with friends and family? Make it make sense. The cumin lamb burger had more bell peppers than meat. Unfortunately as I was halfway through my meal, I discovered a cockroach in my soup... Not the warmest service but I would've still supported this restaurant if it was clean.

Long long so long hand pulled noodles! Being new to Watertown, we decided to try this place which did not disappoint! First of all they have hand pulled noodles so we were super excited to try them! The restaurant is located in Watertown square and although it's not too big it has plenty of seating for small groups. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded. They have many options in their menu including Chinese burger which I have not seem before at other restaurants so I was curious and excited to order one. We definitely had to order the recommended hand pulled noodles and we also got some gyoza for our appetizer. The food was delicious! Everything was super yummy and we had a lot of fun trying to eat the hand pulled noodles! I really enjoyed the Chinese burger, the bun was nice and chewy and the meat was full of spices and flavor. We quickly devoured our food and wished there was more! We will definitely be back!

Seems like a dive on the inside but very tasty food. My favorites are the egg drop soup, dumplings and home style lo mein.

One of my favorite little lunch spots in the area. Simple, straightforward, no BS kinda casual spot…read morewith decently priced lunch specials and an acceptable culinary repertoire to back it all up. In fact, ever since the other Chinese spot changed ownership, I entirely switched to eating here whenever I want a quick sit down Chinese meal. The food is good. It comes out pretty fast. It's done pretty well. And the best part, it just doesn't remotely hurt the wallet. Even being a regular, I'm still amused at how the service is so stereotypical Chinese in the way that I'm just another soul coming in to be fed and not remembered or acknowledged. Mind you, I'm here a LOT and am usually the only one sitting there eating while delivery people repeatedly come and go. Anyways, two reasons why I'm unable to give them 5 stars. First, the tap water they serve...tastes like @#$%. I don't know what it is but I've actually started bringing my own water bottle (or just ordered a soda). Two, the steamed rice is inconsistent. Half the time, it's perfect. The other half...is wet and mushy (I want to say a reheat but isn't that just such a faux pax in Chinese cuisine?). Nonetheless, this is one of the few four and less starred places on my list that I will still continue to frequent and recommend to anyone in the area wanting a quick and decent meal for cheap!

This place transported me to a whole other location! I didn't feel like I was in Massachusetts…read moreanymore. The decor inside and the quality of their food here takes you away! From the very attentive and supportive staff to the intricate details that they have throughout the restaurant , it is truly transformative experience. As for the food, if you're in the mood of something spicy, especially that Sichuan type of heat, then the beef soup is the one for you! I personally would recommend the green pepper pork because it was absolutely delicious! I could not stop eating it and it was just perfect in every which way! Looking forward to coming here again to try many other delicious foods and will probably bring a couple of more friends because their group seating is absolutely stunning!

5 for food 2 for service…read more We love the NYC version of this restaurant, and were excited to visit the Boston spot for mouth numbing dishes. Starting with an iPad menu, our ordering experience with our waiter was subpar. We ended up with extra things ordered that weren't part of our initial order. In good news the food was absolutely delicious. Everything was fire and the waiter poured 5 glasses of water for 3 of us. So we could cool down without needing to flag him down. With the only non-Asian waiter in the restaurant, he struggled with basic elements of service. Inattentive. Requests went unmet (lemons for water). We sat for more than 15 mins after asking to box up leftovers and to close our check. This was all a little embarrassing, as we brought my boyfriend's father. After singing praises of the NYC spot, this was a disappointment.
