The portions are generous and the prices are really reasonable, especially when you factor in how much you get. LOTS of bang for your buck. When we went in, we got some canned sodas, but there's a minimum $5 charge in restaurant, so we ended up getting an extra soda to hit that threshold (our fault for forgetting to add the drinks to our main order!) so just something to keep in mind. It's definitely a place to go get takeout and seems tailored to that purpose, but they do have tables inside for eating in. The staff was nice and very efficient. Their luncheon special especially beef with peppers, fried rice and a side order of soup comes in generous portions so I get 2 to 3 meals out the order. Ownership change is always a mixed bag. I could do with the change in service, ambiance and just about everything else. What I can't accept ever is the change of food flavors and quality that was the initial reason I became a frequent regular. I found out about the transition and kept up my visits and support hoping the dishes I frequented would remain the same. It didn't. It really changed quite a bit. No, I don't blame them for applying their spin on the dishes. But don't expect me to forgive a lot of culinary mistakes that your predecessor perfected. I've only visited twice so far, so I'll have to update as I try more dishes from their huge menu. Spicy Hot Oil Seared Noodles: The hand-pulled noodles are friggin' delicious. Perfect chew. The oil is also amazingly garlicky and spicy. Pretty comparable to Gene's Chinese Flatbread, but unfortunately these are pricier ($12 vs $9). Mala Xiang Guo: This is the legit stuff. Any place with this on their menu looks a bit more authentic in my eyes. It's honestly a great deal; $28-30 for 3-4 meals worth of food. It's basically hotpot without the soup, packed full of yummy ingredients. Cold Skin Noodles: This is another one of those authentic dishes you usually can't find. Unfortunately, this one was a little disappointing as the noodles were pretty stuck together. Still decent, though! Far exceeded my expectations. The food is DELICIOUS. The hand pulled noodles are PERFECT. The flavor is ON POINT. The ambiance though does not exist so if you are looking for a great sit down experience, it is not for you. It is however, great for good food or takeout. The shop itself is a little small and old looking, but they definitely make it taste like home. We intentionally ordered a lot, and they were judging us in Chinese thinking I didn't understand. But it's fine, only reason I took a star off. Crab rangoons were free because we ordered over $30. The lamb cumin burger was cooked really well, well seasoned, and could be a great snack. I love Home Taste! It really does feel like a taste of home. My family is from the Henan region so their Henan hand pulled noodle soup really hits the spot. Their "Chinese burgers" are delicious and made me so nostalgic for Chinese street food. Their more American Chinese food dishes like orange chicken, general Taos chicken, etc are decent as well. Great option for dine in our take out! The restaurant is small with a few tables and more of a hole-in-the-wall type of place. Service was friendly and nice. The food also came out fresh and pretty quickly. Xinjiang Saute Spicy Chicken (with bones) for two--delicious curry spicy broth in a huge bowl. We paid for extra noodle which was so worth it. The hand pulled noodles are chewy and al dente. It was a bit hard to serve because the noodle was so long so it might be helpful to as for scissors so you aren't splashing each other while trying to serve yourself. Sliced Fish Fillet with Hot Chili Sauce --also came in a huge bowl of broth, fish, and cabbage. This came with a small bowl of rice. The broth was spicy but lighter than the chicken dish. Spicy hot oil seared noodle with bok choy - delicious and a more spicy oil flavor. Really enjoyed it. The extra sauce was great for dipping dumplings in after. Long long so long hand pulled noodles! Being new to Watertown, we decided to try this place which did not disappoint! First of all they have hand pulled noodles so we were super excited to try them! The restaurant is located in Watertown square and although it's not too big it has plenty of seating for small groups. We came here for dinner on a Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded. They have many options in their menu including Chinese burger which I have not seem before at other restaurants so I was curious and excited to order one. We definitely had to order the recommended hand pulled noodles and we also got some gyoza for our appetizer. The food was delicious! Everything was super yummy and we had a lot of fun trying to eat the hand pulled noodles! I really enjoyed the Chinese burger, the bun was nice and chewy and the meat was full of spices and flavor. I crave the Long Noodles. I head straight to Home Taste whenever I visit Boston. Homemade. Authentic. Unbelievable. Perfect flavors.

I will start by saying that the food was some of the best I have had in the Boston area. The scallion pancakes were the best I have had in the U.S. The flavors were authentic Szechuan. The handmade Ho Fun Beef noodles were delicious. The House Mala Pot was packed with a wide selection of varied ingredients including sliced lotus root, sautéed squid, bone-in pork shoulder, duck, fish balls, shrimp, and ... All were immersed in a balanced Szechuan sauce. Unfortunately, the prices, and especially the delivery costs, were outrageous! We ordered: Home Style Ho Fun Beef, House Mala Pot, Scallion Pancake, and Sautéed String Bean. The final delivered charge was $90.52 for 4 dishes! Included in this price was a $1"credit charge", a $3 "delivery fee", and a MANDATORY "TIP" with a minimum 15% amount of $10.64. These amounts were exorbitant and very disappointing! If we decide to enjoy this "home Taste" again, we will have to go there. What complictes this review is that the website has no way to contact the restaurant directly other than a phone # and even the email that I was sent did not provide a way to confirm my order, despite the included instructions. Finally, the delicver driver (who received $13.64?! for the order that took less that 15 minutes to deliver) failed to follow the simple instruction to ring the doorbell. read more

Really good food. It's hard to find Szechuan lunch specials but I was able to find my chengdu chicken and it was awesome. Super crispy and spicy, with a good amount of Szechuan peppercorns. Not cheap, but the special came with soup, fried rice, and a spring roll which is very decent. Not sure if they have updated it since but that's kind of an outdated concept and I don't typically carry cash on me. Spicy Hot Oil Seared Hand-Pulled Noodles- I like it when the noodles are all different sizes! It looks and tastes authentic to me. The noodles are chewy, particularly robust in an aromatic stir-fried chili oil sauce, I love it! Chongqing Small Noodles with Minced Pork- Sweetish and savory bean sauce, minced pork, sliced cucumber with thin noodles. Another noodle dish I would order again! Once mixed, it is flavorful, even refreshing with the cucumber. Pork Pan Fried Dumplings- Let's just say I would stick to the hand-pulled noodles when coming here. This place is seriously so good! Since trying them for the first time earlier this year, we've been regularly craving their noodles multiple times a week! I'm normally not super into hand-pulled noodles because the texture can be very hit-or-miss, often too thick or lumpy at other places. But the noodles here excellent -- the right balance between chewy and soft, and always flavorful. Compared to the other popular hand-pulled noodle places in and around Boston, this place is easily da #1. Definitely want to throw in my support for this local favorite during Covid times. They offer pick-up and delivery services. I have ordered pick-up once during covid times, they were actually busy with orders inside the restaurant! Everyone had a mask on, customers, and staff members. Since then, I have decided to order delivery. The delivery service fee is only $2 plus tip. I have to say, while things here add up quickly, it is good for leftover and they are very generous with their portions. Some of my favorites include chicken wings and crab rangoon (both appetizers). The noodle soup is also good. I have never tried its chef special until recently (Xinjiang Saute Spicy Chicken For 2) and it is actually really delicious. In love with their Spicy Hot Oil Seared Noodles with Chili Sauce with Bok Choy and their Salt & Pepper Squid -- I have ordered these almost four times by now and can never get tired of these two. The squid is delicious and crunchy and the Spicy Hot Oil Seared Noodles is super flavorful without being overwhelmingly spicy at all. The noodles are thin so you can tell they hand pulled it well. I'm not sure why my review is being constantly taken down by this place and why yelp is allowing this. The old owners of this place were so great, this was my usual spot until now that it's been with new management who have changed many things and not for the better. I got moldy food and when I told the people who work there they couldn't care less and were very judgmental and rude. I brought the food back exactly as they gave it to me. I also only brought back one item out of my order where I should've brought the whole order back because we didn't end up eating the food as we didn't trust it anymore and I didn't want my kids getting sick. So there went $60 worth of food and dinner. I brought back the moldy $14 noodles and they gave me so much trouble even thought it was very obvious that they were moldy, and they pretended as if they couldn't smell it which was concerning to me. If they couldn't smell that then what are they serving people? For this reason, I called the health department and I did a little looking around and found out that they have been looked into in the last few months many times and people have complained about this establishment so much so that they are on a list. There is a tasty chili vinegary sauce drizzled on the noodles which really creates the flavor. Tip: They always have free green tea on the counter for their customers! Question for the staff: I would love to try the mala pot, but their menu doesn't list a vegetarian one. Noodle thickness/density is medium (for those familiar, a midpoint between Xi'An in NYC and Gene's in Boston/'burbs, and most similar to Chili Square (Quincy). Sichuan Sliced chicken w/Cabbage & Hot Chili Sauce: A deep bowl with delicately tender chicken, some vegetation, and a thin, oily broth that's spicy but with lots of complex flavor and not just heat. Seemingly a little pricey, but you can get three meals out of it. Dry Sautéed String Beans: Light, well cooked, but not really noteworthy. The noodles were delicious (still stuck together though) and general Gao's chicken is amazing - sauce is nice and thick and doesn't have that greasy chicken smell to it.
