Whenever we crave Chinese food this is the place we run too! The restaurant is located at the Arlington heights plaza area and they have plenty of seating for big and small parties. Everytime we show up for dinner there is always alot of take out orders which is a good sign. There is one very nice waitress which runs around alot when the place is packed but she does a very good job of providing timely service to everyone. We really enjoy the hand pulled noodles which is a must every time we done in. They are cooked perfectly and are packed with flavor of whichever dish you choose them with. We also really enjoy their dry hot pot, especially the shrimp dry pot. It's a stir fry kind of dish packed with several veggies like red peppers, broccoli and much more! The soups are also very good and rich in flavor and are perfect for a chilly day. Some of them are served in a large portion so they are perfect for sharing. You really can't go wrong with any dish! The menu is insanely long and they have a code system for each item tagged with a letter and number which makes it easier to order. The feeling that filled my heart in this moment was one finding a long lost love. One that you had once, one that eventually drifted apart due to whatever circumstances, and then finding each other again in the most unexpected moment and regaining that wonderful traction of a friendship all over again. Yes, I'm talking about food. It was once a tale of two spots. One in Watertown and one right here. As I resided in closer to the Watertown location since the move here, I frequented it and found solace in their dishes - absolute comfort food that was done very well. However, like all businesses, things change and eventually the business was sold. I knew there was a transition period and the owner and chefs stuck around to "train" the new owners. I hoped that the "good" would remain and that the new owners would continue the tradition of wonderfully curated dishes and keep the regulars coming back. Did it happen? No. I gave them about a month of repeated visits to gauge their level of culinary competence but it never came through. Long story short. I stopped going and that feeling of lost love began to fester. I didn't think much of it. I thought he had sold this place too since I've often overheard him saying how hard it was to run this business to his associates as he tried to satisfy every customer walking in the door or ringing the phone off the hook. So when I finally found a chance to be on this side of town, I decided to stop by and give it a shot. Maybe, maybe I thought, the new owners here would do a much better take on what they had taken over. What I didn't expect after placing an order was to see the owner walking out from the kitchen with dishes in hand to serve another table. Eyes wide open, I couldn't help but say, "HEY! Good to see you again." He in return showed the same look and smiled greeting me back with fondness and delight. That's when I spoke to the lady and asked more about the whole situation, wherein she explained how they sold the other place but kept this one. Regulars of the other spot now take the 15-20 minute drive just to come up here instead for a meal. I smiled. It made sense. They must have felt robbed when they went back after the place was sold. Food wasn't even remotely the same. Don't even talk about service either. Anyways, long story short, when the food came out. I felt this completeness return back to my soul. Here, once again, I felt home away from home. The food did me justice. The flavors impeccable. The culinary finesse was displayed thoroughly with each bite. So it is, once again, I found my long lost love again in Boston and can't wait to be here every single Sunday for a wonderful special meal that teleports me back to what "Home Tastes" like. read more

I've been searching for good liangpi and hand pulled noodles in the area and finally found some at Home Taste. The noodles were chewy and bouncy, not too thick and the chili oil sauce, bean sprouts and cucumbers provided the perfect balance between spicy, salty and fresh. We also enjoyed the pork and cabbage dumplings and the noodles with cumin lamb. Both were flavorful but my favorite was definitely the cold noodles. Service was quick and prices were reasonable. Monday, 12/15/25, we went for dinner to Home Taste at 1312 Massachusetts Ave in Arlington. We got the menu through the mail. The menu looked very good. Our order: my girlfriend got Beef Noodle Soup and I ordered wide noodle vegetable Lo Mein. In the bowl of soup, the sliced beef was very dry and very salty. The soup was very salty and there was a lot of vinegar in the soup. My girlfriend was hungry and she tried to eat some vegetable and some beef, but she had to stop eating. My Lo Mein was very salty and was not presented well. It looked to me the food was not fresh. Overall, the food was terrible. My wife and I made our biennial trip up to Penzey's in Arlington today, but we were hungry when we arrived, so we decided to try a small Chinese restaurant called Home Taste just across the street from our destination. All of the other patrons were eating delicious looking things out of bowls, but we couldn't tell from the menu descriptions what they had ordered, so we expressed our caucasity in the most obvious way by ordering General Tso's chicken. Huge bowl of spicy beef noodle soup was comforting on a cold day. Hand pulled noodles were good with a bit of chew and were abundant, I couldn't finish them. Reminded me of Gene's Cafe. The beef had good flavor and seemed to be a bit on the leaner side, but wasnt tough. The bowl wasn't super spicy, which allowed the broth flavor to shine. The scallion pancake was tasty and not too greasy. Service was very quick and the space is casual, not much decor, pretty simple and brightly lit - a bit too bright for me personally, I had a hard time with the white overhead lights. Prices are great for the portion size. Would maybe try takeout from here next time I want hand pulled noods. read more

This restaurant offers pretty authentic food from Shaanxi Province, China including hand-pulled noodles and Rou Jia-Mo (Chinese burger). This place is not fancy but clean. People are quite nice. It seems there are many returning customers and take-outs. We had cucumber salad (good), cold skin noodles with peanuts and bean spouts (excellent, highly recommended), roasted pig feet (ok) noodles mixed with scallion oil soy sauce bean sprouts & sliced cucumber (good), spicy cumin lamb burger (good), and Liuzhou spicy rice noodle soup (ok, noodle was a little soggy and beef is more like beef jerky). If you want hand pulled noodles, this is the place to go! Home Taste is a small shop located on a busy street in Arlington. There's usually plenty of street parking around. Their menu offers a variety of Sichuan cuisine dishes but don't pass over their noodle section. I tried their beef hand pulled noodle soup and the spicy cumin lamb hand pulled noodles and both dishes are great! The noodles are long, flat, and bouncy. You could definitely tell they were hand pulled. I don't usually like lamb because it's too gamey for me but I enjoyed the lamb noodle dish! The house fried rice was really good. It's not like the Americanized kind. Also had the spicy sesame noodles. Those weren't what I was expecting- the overwhelming flavor was more spicy tangy, rather than sesame. Other dishes people liked were this pot with fish, tofu, shrimp and wood ear mushrooms. Gene's flatbread in Chinatown is hard to get to, especially with a toddler, and Xian Famous Foods in NYC is even further. Fortunately, Home Taste is here to satisfy your hand-pulled noodle needs. This is the second location of the restaurant in Watertown. While it doesn't quite reach the bar set by Xian Famous foods, it's definitely worth a visit. It's nice to see some regional Chinese food popping up in Arlington, as this location is just down the street from Szechwan's Dumpling. The green onion pancakes were nice and flaky, but I could have used a bit more green onion. The boiled pork dumplings were surprisingly large, with good, flavorful filling. I liked the chewy texture of the wrappers, but they were definitely much thicker than what most would find ideal. We got the special fish with pickled cabbage, which also included some wood ear mushrooms swimming in the sour, spicy broth. It's a little less sour than Mulan's version, and also incorporates some cumin and other spices that Mulan's clear version doesn't have. The fish was tender and very well-flavored. Overall, this was my favorite dish. The "hamburger" with cumin lamb had a slightly sweeter and chewier wrapper than what I've had at other places, which was nice as often the wrapper just tastes like stale bread. The lamb was good, if a little salty. Finally, the hand pulled noodles featured the same cumin lamb and thick, chewy noodles. They're not quite as springy as they would be at somewhere like XFF, but still very enjoyable. read more

Generally the noodles themselves were delicious but they lacked some flavor. The beef soup comes with what appears to be chicken broth, which was odd. Prices are fair and pickup was quick. They have added some other dishes since they initially opened, and the ones we have tried have been good. We tend to order the noodle dishes though - it is hard to go wrong. A particular weakness of ours is the fried chicken appetizer, fried chicken wings. Not particularly Chinese, but shatteringly crisp, well seasoned and highly tasty. Eat them while they're hot! Dad went out for the evening so the kids and I decided to order takeout and try a new restaurant. We ordered the green scallion pancake, the spicy chili cucumber salad with garlic, the marinated beef, chicken lo mein, wonton soup, and (boiled) pork cook dumplings. My son reports that this is the best Chinese food he has ever had in his life. But the menu is not what most American people would expect. There are many dishes I have never heard of and the wonton soup does not taste like any I have ever had. Rather it tastes a bit lighter and was topped with seaweed. Scallion pancake is small and lightly fried. That dumplings are homemade and large in size with thick skin. Marinated beef is dry and flavorful. If you're hoping for your typical American Chinese takeout spot I'd say go elsewhere, but for an authentic Chinese experience please try Home Taste. They are known for their hand pulled noodles, so I can't believe that I failed to order them. I will definitely order them next time and report back. read more

I've gotten takeout here ~5 times and every time I've had nothing bad to say about any of the food. We are very happy with the quality and service offered by this little place. Strongly recommend the dishes listed on the blackboard labeled as house specials. Those are super good, and rarely found in other nearby Chinese restaurants. Note they only have a few tables inside, and the tables/chairs do not look comfortable. I saw the high reviews about this place and I wanted to go try it out. I went with a friend that's from northern China and she said that the food can use a little more flavor. The dumplings were definitely frozen and the skin is not homemade, maybe premade dumpling skin. The dumpling sauce literally tasted like vinegar and soy sauce, no ginger or garlic taste. The salted crispy chicken texture was perfect but it was not salty and not much taste to it. We thought the garlic cucumber would be strong garlic taste and spicy by looking at it but again there wasn't much garlic taste nor it is spicy and it wasn't even sour. We also ordered the lamb pulled noodles and I really like it because the noodles is soft and long, it is not the same doughy one I'm using to buy it is still good and the reason I liked it that much is because I'm not a lamb person but they cooked the lamb to the point I can handle the taste of it. I will probably go back and try other dishes maybe we just ordered the wrong stuff. read more
