Not a single complaint after my first visit to Futaba. This ramen spot had great food, great service, and a lovely cozy vibe that goes perfectly with a warm bowl of ramen. The portions are extremely generous and the price point is pretty decent compared to other ramen spots in the area. I had the pleasure of trying the Black Garlic Tonkotsu and I thought the broth was so rich and flavorful, the meat was tender, and the noodles were well-cooked. I also loved the green bean appetizer as it had a good balance between savory, spicy, and sweetness. The seating is a little limited but it was still comfortable especially for a party of 2, and I did see them trying to accommodate larger parties (6+) as well. It is located on the second floor and there are elevators in the plaza for easier access. So glad I was able to try this spot out!
TLDR; cozy ambiance, generous portions, delicious food, great service, reasonable prices, free parking. A+. Came in with a very hungry toddler and husband and left with unzipped pants and tons of leftovers. The complimentary bean sprouts at the beginning were the perfect first bite to start off the night. Then we tried the tonkotsu ramen, the chicken katsu curry over rice, the karaage chicken, and the mixed tempura. Everything fried to perfection, broth rich without being too fatty, curry seasoned right, and tempura veggies crisp and ripe - iykyk. The decor is great. Felt like I was in a little shop somewhere in Ramen Street. Kiddo loved all the maneki neko statues. We lucked out and got the booth - win! And they had kid-friendly training chopsticks, which was such a nice touch! Mom approved. The service is SUPER friendly without being overbearing, and everything is quick and efficient. So happy we stumbled across this place while walking at CSUN - we'll definitely be back!
First time here. Small space with ample seating for guests. Food was great and the service was good. Very hearty size helpings. Very busy area as well, as it is located close to a university. The parking is kind of messy as half the parking lot was closed. Very happy with dining experience.
I thought this was a pretty good ramen spot. It has all the basics and a few extras on the menu. We ordered a couple of appetizers to share, and they were solid. Here are my thoughts on the dishes we tried: Futaba Ramen - Good overall. Nothing too crazy, but a solid bowl. (3.5/5) Gyudon - I really enjoyed this one. Lots of flavor and very satisfying. (4/5) Overall, it's a nice place to grab ramen and hang out with friends. I'd definitely come back.
I've been coming to Futaba for about a decade now with my family, it's a cozy spot that feels like a little slice of Japan in the heart of Northridge. Lots of traditional Japanese cuisine and the star of the menu of course is the many different ramen variations they offer. The food is tasty & great quality, servers are always kind. Server Becky has become a friend to my family & we always look forward to seeing her! This spot is on the top floor of a busy strip mall near CSUN so parking can be iffy but usually doable. Note that the restaurant is small so maybe call ahead to see if they can accommodate bigger parties. I recently tried their Tempura Udon and it was the highlight of the menu in my opinion! You also can't skip the crunchy shrimp appetizer & green bean appetizer!
Tips: when there's a line, walk into the restaurant and tell the staff how many people in tour party. They don't provide a written waiting list so, you need to tell the staff. Like always, excellent food and service. Today music is Enka. Love the vibe!
Tried Futuba Ramen for an authentic Japanese ramen experience, and it was good but not quite amazing. The ramen bowls were generously portioned with rich, cloudy broth, springy noodles, soft-boiled egg, bamboo shoots, and tender pork that felt traditional and comforting. We also ordered the fried chicken, which was crispy and flavorful, making a nice side to share. The atmosphere felt casual and cozy, very much like a neighborhood ramen spot. That said, the broth was a bit heavy and salty for our taste, and while everything was solid, it didn't fully stand out compared to other ramen spots. Service is good and fast. Worth a visit if you're craving classic ramen, but not a must-return spot.
I've only ordered ramen and curry dishes. Ramen has a good bite to it. Not too chewy but definitely not mushy. Broth is always flavorful. Curry was perfectly seasoned for my taste. Not too spicy. The bean sprouts they serve with every meal it seems they leave out the spices now. There is a bottle of togarashi on the table. I guess so people can season to their liking. The owner was super sweet and attentive as always. When I wanted to take my curry home she added more to my container. Futaba is a very small place. Not recommended for large groups. My friend was put off by being seated next to the refrigerator in the middle of the dining room.
Came to this little cutie after a family friend recommended it. To say the least one of the best Karaage chicken I have tried. Food portions so big, fresh, and priced so well. Ramen was 6/10, wish the broth was thicker and richer. Though the chashu and eel rice bowls are soooo good!!! Very small inside space but servers are very efficient and welcoming!
This is my go to restaurant in the northridge area! I love this place so much. I'm not a big person who changes their meal alot so once I come in, the owner confirms our order and we're set! The place is small but feels homey to us. We love sitting at the bar area even though it's not much space, It just feels right. The music playing is never loud and the workers attentiveness and attitude make the place worth coming back everytime.
nothing but good things to say about this place, i've been coming here since i was in highschool, the food is always fresh and great tasting as well as great quality, service is excellent and very welcoming and the ambiance is unlike any other ramen place in the area. this place is my "hidden gem" in the valley and i will continue coming back for many more years to come :)

The service was great and our waitress was very attentive. It's very clean and there is also a bathroom that customers can use! The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive. When I say this was the best katsu curry I have ever had, I mean it. The katsu was hot and crispy with a juicy interior, and the curry was the perfect combination of savory, sweet, and just a little bit of spice. The katsu and curry alone were amazing, but the rice was perfect as well. I will definitely be coming back for more katsu (or to try their ramen). If I could have one critique, it would be the mochi ice cream. It's $2 for one mochi cut in half, which I thought was a little weird. Also, the mochi on the outside had a weird texture, but the flavors were nice. Just proceed with caution on that one.

Ordered delivery and tried the Chicken Katsu Curry and the Unagi Eel Bowl. Both came with generous portions of rice and a fresh side salad, so definitely no complaints about portion sizes. The Chicken Katsu was mild in flavor but still satisfying, especially with the generous serving of curry on the side. If you like a lighter, comforting katsu curry, this hits the spot. The Unagi Eel Bowl was the standout for me. The eel was flavorful, tender, and paired perfectly with the rice. My only minor gripe is that the delivery didn't include chopsticks, which would've been helpful. Other than that, the food arrived in great condition, the portions were excellent, and everything tasted fresh. Overall, a very enjoyable meal. Based on this delivery experience, I'm looking forward to dining at the restaurant next time to try more of their menu. read more

Futaba Ramen has easily become my go-to spot whenever I'm craving a good bowl of ramen. The restaurant has a really cozy vibe that makes it a great place to sit down and relax while enjoying a meal. My personal favorite is the Spicy Miso Ramen. it's consistently flavorful with just the right amount of spice. The appetizers are just as impressive too. The Chicken Karaage is crispy and juicy, the edamame is always a solid choice, and the seaweed-flavored fries are surprisingly addictive. One thing I tried recently was the side of Gyudon as part of the ramen combo. It was delicious! On top of the food, the service is always great. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and makes the whole experience even better. Definitely a spot I keep coming back to. read more

My son was craving for Ramen and decided to try this place. We ordered gyoza, fried rice, ramen noodles and green tea tempura. All I can say is wow! I'm not a fan of ramen but I love this place! They make ramen the way I like it!!! My son got the garlic ramen and I got the futaba ramen and they were both delicious! The gyoza and fried rice tasted really good too as well as the dessert! Price was very reasonable and they have great staff! Especially Lawrence! What a young hardworking fine young man! Very attentive, courteous and fast! So is the lady who was working alongside him. She was very pleasant as well. The place is very small and always packed on weekends. Better to go early since wait could take up to 40 minutes. At first, I couldn't find the place since the building didn't have its name on. But it's located on 2nd floor above Waba Grill. Highly recommend!!! read more
Came here on a date with my girlfriend! It was perfect! Place is a little small on the inside and it was a bit hot, but the food was delicious! Staff were very nice and food was made quickly ! We are so happy this place is still open!! The service is fantastic!! They treat you like you are family (not the dysfunctional kind), they want to make sure everything is well, and Becky has conversations with us. We just love it!! Food is tasty and price is decent and not outrageous. I love how this place gives me like a warm and cozy feeling vibe. Just remember they close on Mondays. read more

Futaba is everything you want and more! It is in the perfect location right next to CSUN. Right when you walk in you are greeted by the lovely employees who take great care of you the entire rest of your time there. All of the appetizers are amazing. Last time we got the gyoza and it was so good, especially dipped in the garlic soy sauce. I look forward to trying more of the appetizers. The Katsu curry and the garlic ramen were such hits. They were so comforting and delicious. The portions are big and great for dinner. For dessert, we had the tempura ice cream and it was one of the best desserts I have ever had. I highly recommend getting it. Futaba is unique in all of the options they have and all of those options being so delicious. They have a diverse amount of drinks, appetizers, entrees, and many vegetarian options. It is way more than your typical ramen spot! read more

I'm always on the hunt to try different ramen places because I'm very picky about it. I don't like soup but ramen is one of those that always look super appetizing and I just haven't found the one for me UNTIL I came to this place!! We headed over after work for dinner with my mom and my bf. We were worried it would be busy since they have a very small space like max 8 tables and a bar. It's on the upper floor next to a boba spot. We were greeted by the sweetest workers and they made sure to take our drink order immediately. After getting our drinks, we had enough time to order our food! We got: - Milk Tea Boba - Side Salad - Karaage Chicken - Gyoza - Shio Butter Ramen with Garlic Chips - Beef Tongue - Garlic cloves in Soy Sauce - Oyako Don Everything was absolutely amazing. The beef tongue is one of those we've been getting lately ever since we first had it at another place and couldn't get enough! I was so worried I wouldn't enjoy the shio butter ramen BUT that added butter was a game changer and I even added garlic chips to it for more flavor. It was BEAUTIFUL. Absolutely delicious and I'm so happy to finally find a ramen place I like!! Their milk tea is delicious but the boba is just okay. Tasted like refrigerated/instant boba if that gives you an idea but it wasn't bad! Definitely on our list to continue enjoying the food here and already looking forward to coming back!! Futaba has become our Go-To for Japanese style ramen and dons (bowls). There is no sushi here- but you can get some fantastic ramen, tasty Japanese curry, and the usual yummy dons like katsu-don, unagi-don, or oyaku-don, and much much more! There is no host counter, sign up sheet, or Yelp tablet -- so you'll have to make sure you let them know inside to put you on the list. They do a brisk business when it's busy, so catch their attention. When you are seated they will immediately set you up with some spicy bean sprouts, which I love. Service is brisk but friendly, and the food comes out pretty quickly. The place is very cozy, with only a few tables and a small counter. The walls have a kitschy mix of cat and Japanese paraphernalia that somehow makes the experience more authentic. My favorite thing to get is one of the combinations. You get to choose a noodle and a mini-bowl. I can never finish the whole thing! But I am not the type that can just order and eat one thing for a meal. So the combination satisfies me, and is a good deal to boot! Although you can't go wrong with any of their hot ramen soup noodles, I tried for the first time, this time, the dipping noodles. I thoroughly enjoyed it! And no, it's not the same broth -- it's a more concentrated "sauce" with lots of umami flavor. I always add an extra 1/2 egg because their eggs are so perfect-- just look at my pics! Perfectly gelatinous yolk, beautiful and flavorful! My husband always wants their katsu-don, but my son argues for the oyaku-don. Both are delicious and huge! (But are not an option for the noodle and don combination) So we always end up ordering one on top of our personal orders and share it amongst the 3 of us. All the appetizers we have tried are also spot on. Basically, if you are craving some good japanese food, this is the place to come to! read more

Futaba is fantastic to say the least I came here with a bunch of friends we ordered so much food and everything was a hit We ordered kurobuta, gyoza, curry udon, curry rice, chicken katsu curry, hiyashi chuka, and a bunch of honey green teas with lychee jelly. Everything was a solid 10/10 no complaints I couldn't even thing of one if I tried The staff were so friendly and sweet everything came out so fast and they packed our leftovers perfectly I highly recommend anyone who loves Japanese food to try this place out it blew me away read more

I was craving Japanese curry so bad and came across this restaurant on Yelp. I decided to come try it out and see if this would be my new spot to grab Japanese curry. I ordered the Curry Rice with Pork Katsu and the katsu was so crispy yet the meat was still juicy on the inside. The curry itself was packed with flavor, but for me personally, I do prefer my curry to have more spice or kick to it. The curry was still good and it was a generous portion of curry + meat + rice, I couldn't even finish it. I can't say it is my favorite Japanese curry, but I would come back because it is fairly close to me. read more

Yes, it’s still available in small bowl or large bowl.
What kind of salad dressing do they use? Asking due to food allergies but a love of salad
The house dressing was delicious! I think it was maybe a miso and/or sesame based creamy dressing.. but if you're dealing with food allergies, definitely call the restaurant and tell them your specific concerns.
