Recently went to Top Thai with my daughter. As always, I have to order the Rena's Bamboo shoot salad. They started using this fresh bamboo shoot. It's the tip of the shoot so it's super tender, crispy, juicy and so delicious with their salty, sour, spicy and sweet dressing. Everything is balanced out very well. Love Bamboo shoots. Randomly came here for lunch and glad I found it. Got their lunch special that comes with a drink, rice, salad, egg roll, and entree. I got the chicken pad krapow which was robust and packed with flavor. The portion size was decent, although had too much rice left over. Loved the sauce that came with it. Service was quick and staff were super friendly. Upon arriving first impression wasn't so pleasant. We were not greeted, just standing for a bit while we waited to get seated. It took forever for the waiter to come take our order. Took forever for the food to arrive. We received our appetizer last which should have came before the main course. 5 egg rolls cut into 10 pieces to make it seem like it's a lot. But 5 for 10? Nah. It arrived waaay after we were almost done with our food. Oh and the Thai tea was suuuuuper skimp. Came here on a Friday night and it was a good experience. It took some time to get serviced, but to be fair, it was the owner waiting my table and 2 others so I was being patient. I tried their famous tom yum noodle soup and it was delicious! The broth wasn't the best I've had bc it was not as garlicky or aromatic to my tasting, but it was served in a generous proportion! Top Thai's khao soi is just as good, if not better than a Michelin starred khao soi spot in Long Beach. This mango sticky rice is in my top three mango sticky rices, along with Banana Bay's and Noodle World's. The man who runs the restaurant is super friendly and insisted on giving us more coconut sauce for our mango sticky rice when he noticed we were running low. The ambiance inside is pretty upscale, but you wouldn't know from looking at the outside. The parking lot is a bit sketch, but it's worth overlooking to savor this diamond in the rough. read more

Top Thai is a small cozy restaurant that has now moved to a location on Lindley in Northridge. While these dining premises are smaller, they are well appointed and the decor imparts an intimate feel. One advantage here is they now have their own parking lot next door and one does not need to worry about looking for a place on the street. During my first visit at the previous location over a year ago, I had their lunch special of the Spicy Basil and was very impressed. So this time, I came for a dinner carry out and ordered the same Spicy Basil with beef as an entree. It came with a small portion of steamed rice. The dish had a mild flavor and the sauce had no body, hence diluting the spices. Half the beef pieces were chewy. Maybe a change in the Chef?
