We ventured into Chatsworth after two of the sushi spots we initially wanted to eat at were at capacity. Parking is limited here. We got lucky. Arrived and there was no wait on a weekend, during peak dinner hours. Place is a bit small. We were greeted and seated quickly. Our server took our order. Overall, I would be honest and say our server could've been a bit more attentive considering how small it was. The interaction we got was respectful. Another negative is they don't serve fountain drinks its cans. Our food came out in a good amount of time. Everything was delicious and well made. Everything tasted fresh. Got to check this sushi spot out after being recommended to me by my sushi connoisseur friend. It was pretty good and I would come back. It is a small spot and you might have to wait a bit to get seated and for your food. When we were there there were only two chefs so we waited quite a bit but service was friendly. We got the Sassy roll, Haru roll and Tiki Tiki roll along with the Crispy Rice and Garlic edamame for appetizers. Everything was delicious! Going into deep Chatsworth for sushi might seem like a recipe for disaster, but Namisen Sushi took my opinion and defenestrated it. Local to the valley, Namisen sits in an unassuming strip mall off Topanga Boulevard. Smaller in footprint, the restaurant is capable of seating a little over twenty customers, including seats at the sushi bar. This restaurant does an excellent job with the space it has, and the interior feels welcoming and warm. Let me preface by saying we were hungry. Our party ordered an Asahi beer, Crispy Rice appetizer, Shishito Pepper appetizer, Assorted Tempura appetizer, Kanpachi nigiri, Black Snapper nigiri, Yellowtail nigiri, Eel Avocado Cut Roll, Chirashi-don, and the Chicken Teriyaki. Despite the distance from the ocean and despite the time of night, Namisen had some of the freshest and lightest cuts of fish I have ever had the pleasure of eating. There wasn't a single thing we ordered that was "just okay." It was all great. Their execution of dishes is simple, tasteful, and delicious. Exactly what is desired out of a local spot one can return to on a monthly (or weekly) basis. The most memorable aspect of our experience at Namisen was the service. Fame (apologies for the potential misspelling) and the rest of the staff were incredibly kind, provided honest and excellent recommendations, and made sure that we were satisfied with our choices. We had already decided to come back once we tried the food, but the service solidified that Namisen was going to be a regular destination. Place is small but nice ambiance. Has a sushi bar so you can watch chef make rolls. We were able to watch the Olympics on their 3 TV screens. The place is quaint and clean. But the best part was the food. We were a family of 4 today, and we all agreed: the food is fresh, great tasting, great portions, and for sushi- the rice to fish ratio was just right. They even had a no rice roll. All in all, the service was great, attentive staff- water/drink refills without prompting, price is comparable and quality was top notch. The only thing we felt was not on point is the parking- the restaurant is located in a small shopping center, limited spaces and half the spaces are specifically assigned to customers of the different shops. We arrived around 8 pm and were greeted by a chaotic scene. There were only a few tables, and the sushi counter had only 8 seats. Some tables were never cleaned, so we couldn't even sit down. This place is definitely not for those seeking a quiet atmosphere. The staff was incredibly loud and disruptive. They were screaming across the room, drinking alcohol, and taking shots. It felt like a party, and everyone seemed to know each other (both workers and customers). It was strange to hear people screaming and yelling between us. To make matters worse, the lady server was screaming right behind my ear. I couldn't eat in peace. We will never be going back to this place. If you're looking for a quiet place, skip this place at all costs. But if you're in the mood for a party, where everyone is drinking, screaming, and having a great time, this is your place! Wow, what a hidden gem. We have been searching far and wide for a go-to sushi spot in the northwest end of the valley but they have all been hit or miss. I have lived in this portion of the valley for 25 years and I have no idea how I had not heard of this restaurant. I hopped onto google and this place was the third search result, lower review count, so it made me curious. We went on a Wednesday afternoon for lunch and the food was incredible. The place itself is small, but the decor is nice and very much in line with most sushi restaurants. We tried the shishito peppers, the tuna rice cakes, their salads, gyoza, sashimi, nigiri, rolls...all of it was top notch. Even their eel sauce was spiced up, delicious. My wife and I ate like royalty and we expected the bill to be significantly higher, so when it came back less than we were anticipating, it added the cherry on top. We arrived on a Friday night to find a mostly full restaurant but there was a nice booth open and they quickly seated us. The staff were very friendly. They were also patient and helpful in answering questions regarding ingredients as my cousin is gluten sensitive. I did have to ask for water refills a few times and there was a bit of delay in getting those refills but other than that we were very happy with the service. I opted for the mixed tempura, sunomono salad, and sashimi combination A which came with 3 pieces each of salmon, yellowtail, and tuna. The combination also came with a side of rice and miso soup. I'm not a big fan of miso soup so I gave it to my cousin but she didn't think it was that great. The rice was okay but I wish it had some furikake or some other little seasoning like most places will do. The fish itself was very fresh and tasty. The cuts were not necessarily generous in size but they were a respectable size. My mom ordered a bento combination which she loved. They have the option to get multiple add ons including 3pcs sashimi, tempura, and gyoza for only a small up-charge for each one. She enjoyed all the food including the octopus sunomono salad she ordered. My cousin ordered edamame which she shared with all of us, delicious! She also ordered a roll which she liked but decided she would probably get the sashimi combo next time. Overall, the prices were not cheap but reasonable for the quality of food. Some of the items were also slightly discounted during happy hour. I spent right around $50 with tax and 20% tip for the sashimi combo a, mixed tempura, and sunomono salad. Only recently, did Namisen Sushi appear on my radar. This cozy Sushi restaurant is at Topanga and Lassen in Chatsworth. There is ample parking in this small strip mall. Due to its size, there is limited seating at this eatery, but a very friendly staff. Service is brisk, and that is understandable. I was sitting at a table for two, since I was dining solo. The small sushi bar was almost fully occupied by people who seemed more relaxed (alcohol, appetizers, sushi) than I was, and therefore were still there when I left. I came only for the Sashimi combination A. It comes with 3 pieces each of yellowtail, salmon and tuna (a total of 9 pieces for $22). The presentation is accompanied by miso soup. The fish pieces melted in your mouth and oozed with freshness and their individual fish, characteristic texture, and hallmark of flavors. When I had seen pictures of this combination dish before hand, I was concerned it would be too much for me (I am not a big eater). However, in real life, they are thinner pieces of fish, and in hindsight, I should have also ordered an appetizer. The happy hour prices are enticing, so a return visit in the near future is in order. Maybe, the Sashimi combination B (with 15 pieces for $30) will be an excellent choice. read more

This place is a find. Some of the best sushi Ive had in LA. Classic little whole in the wall vibe. Feels like you're at a little sushi bar in downtown LA or even NY. This sushi bar was taken over of an old place that we used to go here called sushi USA. I have to say that I like this place a lot better mostly because they have a lot of sushi chefs helping you get the food out quickly. Their sushi is always fresh and tasty and their pricing is really reasonable. You can tell it's always got a fun vibe in there with locals hanging out at the bar having a beer and eating sushi. It's always gotta little bit of a line to get in but it's worth it. They usually get you seated pretty quick. The difference is that you are paying WAY high for the quality you get. And of course you can confirm this by going to Got Sushi and a bunch of other same price sushi bars surving way better sushi. And for this place to get a 4.6 star !??That is just not at all accurate. I see a future shift in their prices and advertising, happy hours, etc. Because places like H2O in Northridge, which is finally now under better management asof this review. Only based off of ordering take out -This place has fresh fish, friendly service, always happy to come back. Whenever I'm in the mood for some sushi for my lunch break, I will order from here. I order in advance and they always have my order ready, which makes my lunch break worthwhile since I get to have time to eat and enjoy my food. Parking: I would say there is plenty of parking but it depends when you go, during lunch hour it can get a bit complicated to find parking as there are other food places in that plaza. I definitely do plan on coming to dine with time and grab more items on their menu.
