What a great find in Califonia! We found this spot by accident after driving to the wrong location for a wine tour near Malibu. Since we couldn't make it to the right place in time, we said, how about some ramen? So I looked up for spots and this one popped up. It didn't take long to convince ourselves to give it a try. The restaurant is small and in a small plaza in Reseda, CA. At first we were skeptical because we were not familiar with the area well but it turned out to be a great meal. We were welcomed by a friendly guy who was also the server. He managed the entire room seamlessly. We ordered the miso and spicy miso ramen--both were delicious and came in generous portions. The gyozas and fried rice were also tasty and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved that this place felt authentic. Definitely worth a stop or a detour.

The ramen is decent, but nothing special imo compared to several solid options nearby. I was hungry after and had second dinner at a place nearby, but my wife had enough with one bowl. The edamame was undersalted, and the dumplings were below average. Service was fine although a bit stretched thin running around (he apologized later) and the ambience included a strange woman next to us with a loud phone (she said she is a regular) and a screaming child running around unattended.

My husband told me about Ramen Nippon many times , and I got the chance to visit finally. It is a cute small place with very kind ladies as servers. They work very fast and they are very sweet as well. The ramen was delicious, the level of the spice was very good and I could've made it to a spicier dish. I love ramen very much and it is my go for during cold weather . I am sure I will be visiting Ramen Nippon many times, and try different delicious ramens .

No fuss simple spot in Reseda! I have been coming back to this spot for over a decade now! It's been a neighborhood treasure and their ramen is always super solid. Their non ramen food aren't as high quality but it's been a nice little addition to the food scene in the Mid Valley area. The spot is clean, located in a cute little corner store. The service has been fast!

Comforting food in a warm and cozy family friendly atmosphere with very attentive and friendly staff! They have delicious appetizers including the tofu salad (in a sesame dressing), yasai itame (stir-fried nappa cabbage with been sprouts, and leeks), and gyoza which are great for sharing. Their yakimeshi (fried rice) is aromatic. They have a wide variety of ramen bowls and pan-fried (with no soup). We've tried the chashu ramen (with shoyu broth), miso chashu ramen (with soybean paste broth), nira moyashi ramen (with shoyu broth), shio ramen (with salty chicken broth), and spicy miso ramen. They are flavorful, broth is clean and toppings are fresh. You can also make your ramen a combo with options of adding a small fried rice, a small curry rice, gyoza, or both a small fried rice and gyoza! They also offer a wide selection of beer, wine, sake, and non-alcoholic drinks at reasonable prices. They are located in a small plaza, northeast of Reseda Blvd. and Bassett St.

This used to be our "go to" ramen place 15+years ago when the Ramen place isn't that populate yet. They only accept cash that time and menu was limited. Today I crave for a traditional Japanese ramen style that's not creamy and went back to this place. It's the same inside, very neat and clean and the servers where really nice and attentive. They now accept cash or card and has a lot of varieties to choose from their menu. But of course the prices went up compare to the last time we were here. We all enjoyed the traditional ramen, the gyoza and fried rice. Definite worth coming back

Humongus Gomoku Rāmen at Nippon Rāmen

Nippon Rāmen may be the first Rāmenya in the San Fernando Valley having been established over 35 years ago. Much of the Rāmen here adheres to old school tradition of Shōyu/soy sauce & Shio/ salt based soup broth. The heavy pork bone & fat based Tonkotsu Rāmen, which now seems more prevalent in the U.S. in the last 20 years is not as common in Japan where Assari/less rich, more refreshing style is more popular. I ordered a huge bowl of Gomoku Rāmen which is Shōyu based. Sautéed Nappa cabbage, smooth yet crunchy Kikuragè/cloud ear mushroom, fibrous bamboo shoots, thin ham, bit of chopped pork, squid, shrimp sprinkled with Shōyu and thickened with a bit of corn starch. The mixture is then poured on top of the Rāmen noodles tending toward al dente initially. Chopped green onions & half of a 3/4 boiled egg where the egg yolk is custardy are the final garnishes. Touch of sesame finishing oil to add a nutty, toasty, faint sweet tone. Red powdered Paprika & ground, smoky, white pepper shakers available to pep up the Rāmen broth. The Shōyu broth made from chicken bones & Katsuo Bushi/dried bonito flakes & rest of the ingredients are basically fine, but wish Nippon Rāmen used a richer, more concentrated broth for more pronounced Umami. Next tIme, I will opt for the Chāshū roast pork supplement.  This Gomoku Rāmen harking back to the reign era name of the Shōwa Emperor over 35 years ago is nostalgic & homey. Interior has tables & counter seating for single diners. Service here is fast, efficient, perfunctory. You are in & out with a minimum of fuss. 4- stars.

I've been coming here for 20 year, back when it was one of the very few ramen places in the valley (maybe the only one). It is still very good (and seems authentic to me - been to Japan twice).

4.5 stars. One is this best traditional style, Ramen in the Valley. They create their signature soup with made with chicken and bonito broth mixed that brings out great flavorful taste . In their menu, they offer 3 different broth Shoyu (soy sauce), Shio (salt), and Miso . They also make their ramen noodles and gyoza from scratch every day. You know this is good when the restaurant gets busy right when it opens. There's noting fancy about Ramen Nippon bowl of ramen. It's just simple, delicious broth with perfectly cooked ramen noodles with good chewyness and simple toppings. My favorite bowls so far are: Chashu Ramen and Spicy Niramoyashi Ramen ( Highly recommend adding Chashu), but the whole menu does look good. You have plenty of different styles ramen to choose from. Their portions are huge. Service was great and they have a private lot and street parking as well. Overall, what a great hidden gem in Reseda.

Fix your Saturday hours! It says 4:30 on Yelp but the sign on the door says 6pm. Waste of quarters in the parking meter. Lame.

They offer three versions of their tonkotsu ramen--Clear, Black, and Spicy. Of course, I ordered the Clear. Oh my goodness... this was exactly the ramen I'd been looking for. The broth was crystal clear yet incredibly rich and flavorful without being heavy. The chashu was melt-in-your-mouth tender, perfectly seasoned, and not greasy at all. The soft-boiled egg was cooked to perfection with a beautifully jammy yolk. The noodles reminded me of the ramen I had in Japan--simple, authentic, with the perfect texture and firmness. And the shredded green onions on top completely brought the whole bowl together. They added just the right amount of freshness and crunch. Game over. If you're looking for authentic Japanese ramen with a clean, flavorful broth, this place is a must-visit. I'll definitely be back.

The servers and weight staff were super sweet really accommodating and kept checking in with us to see if we needed anything more or if we like the food or if we had any questions. I'm really happy that my Ramen did come out as I imaged, you could smell the Yuzu from the broth. I did wish though it had a little bit more flavoring, but overall was pretty good. The location itself is in a shopping plaza inside. It was really calm pretty quiet. They have bar seating and a couple of tables throughout the area, but it's not a big restaurant which I like.! Overall, we'll try adding this place into our rotation for Asian food in the area

I don't eat pork, but I'm okay with pork broth, so I asked if I could substitute the pork chashu for chicken. What I received instead was popcorn chicken, which was unexpected and not at all what I had in mind. There was no communication that this would be the substitute, which made it even more frustrating. On top of that, I was still charged for it without any clarification beforehand. Transparency goes a long way, especially when making substitutions. Overall, between the lackluster flavor and the confusing substitution, it just didn't feel like a thoughtful or well-executed experience.

It was refreshing to not be disappointed by our ramen, so my mom and I went back less than a week later. Any issues we experienced our first visit were either repeated or amplified during our second visit. Both times I noticed that the ramen isn't served hot. At best, it's served warm, so despite being a quick eater, the last bites of my bowls were "enjoyed" cold. Also, the restaurant is very busy with to go orders, so the overwhelmed staff has to juggle dine in as well as delivery drivers and their priority is the to go orders. They have a sign up/wait list, but they don't follow it. Customers who stand at the door, in the staff's view, will be seated before others who signed up before, but are off to the side. Lastly, is the issue of cleanliness. Our first visit the restaurant didn't feel very clean, but by the second, I was sure they weren't cleaning throughly. We ordered fresh garlic and the garlic masher they gave still had old garlic inside. On top of that, they don't wipe tables between customers because they're so busy. Strictly rating the food, Kai Ramen deserves a solid 4 stars, but as a whole, I think 3 stars is generous. Unfortunately, another visit wouldn't change anything because the problem is caused by management understaffing and overworking employees.
