I am NOT a runner. I have run, but don't particularly enjoy running as I associate it with foot, knee and hip pain. That being said, during this pandemic we are all trying ways to exercise safely. So I'm running now, on the pavement...slowly. I've learned that I don't mind running, but my feet are not ok with this running thing. After some really large blisters and purple toenails I figure my athletic shoes might have something to do with it. This is where Future Track Running Center comes in. Not what I expected. If you are the average person looking for a pair of sneakers or other workout gear, this is not the place for you. They cater (seemingly) exclusively to elite runners. I have no issue with that, per se, but for the 99% of us who don't fit that category, you would be better served at Dicks, Foot Locker, Roadrunner, or Champs. Someone gave me a $100 gift card to this place. I was excited to pick up a new pair of shoes and maybe a couple of shirts to compliment my workout routine. I found the selection extremely limited - in fact there was so little inventory displayed that i was able to browse everything in about two minutes. I wasn't able to find anything to even waste the gift card on. I walked out and tossed the card. This place has very high reviews - and I'm sure they are warranted if you have a very specific need. I have lived in Thousand Oaks my whole life. I've never been a runner, all the sports I participated in really used running as training // punishment... but in an attempt to start getting into some sort of shape my 5-year old running shoes were not going to cut it. They just celebrated their 20 year anniversary in January. I worked with Bill and he was wonderful. I wore my old shoes so he could see how they wore after all my runs and he was very observant. Asked me to walk/jog w/out shoes inside to see how I struck the ground. He then pulled out three different shoes. Was patient as we tried each pair on, while ensuring upon standing my toes had the proper spacing from the tip of the shoe. I was unable to decide after running on the walkway in each so he recommended that I exchange one off of one foot and tried two different shoes on for comparison. I ultimately decided on a pair of Saucony Ride 10's. I'm looking forward to hitting the pavement, but I highly recommend coming back to Future Track for all your running shoe needs. read more

In my two years of running, I'm now on my third pair of running shoes. I have gone to many a store looking for the ultimate pair for my messed up feet. Of course, the big box stores don't have the expertise that I need to figure out the kind of shoes that would work best. On a whim I came in to Future Track because I was next door having lunch and I saw a sale table outside the door. I perused all sides of the store and then started talking to one of the associates. He was incredibly helpful. He knew about my pronation problem and started suggesting shoes right away. I was thrilled. I ended up with a good pair of Asics that I've already taken for a test run and love. As far as the store goes, they have trail runners as well as regular running, some clothes and running accessories. They carry NB, Asics, Brooks, and Nike as well as Merrell I think. Do it! Everytime I go to Future Track for myself and my son, I'm always greeted by an employee named Colson. He Is so helpful and knowledgeable about all the shoes. He knows exactly what shoes and/or spikes my family and I need. Whether it is for sprints, long distance, trails, or just casual walking or running Colson goes out of his way to find the perfect shoe and fit. It's nice going to the store and seeing him because I feel like he never forgets a face or a shoe that I've purchased. These guys have been here for 20 years or so. There's a reason they've been around for so long. The owner Bill is a nice guy, and he sponsors the Thousand Oaks Pacers running group. Bill gave a shoe clinic talk at last week's event, and I realized that my shoes of 10 years should probably be replaced, so I rolled on over this weekend. I didn't recognize the name, "Future Track," so I figured that I had never been here before. When I pulled up, I had a strange feeling of deja vu: I've been here before! This was the place I had bought my original pair of running shoes 10 years ago! Ha. I had a good experience then, and I had a good experience now. Quentin helped me out, and got me fitted in a nice new pair of New Balance. He was very friendly and personable. The price was fair, customer service was good, and the store was clean. Being new to running I was slightly overwhelmed with all of the choices for a pair of running shoes......they invested the time to watch my run and let me run around in about 5 pairs so I could figure out exactly what shoe was perfect for me. As well they even told me I had 30 days to try them and they would either adjust them or put me in another pair if I had any issues at all. I unfortunately had a terrible experience at future track today and will not go back there again. I was a long time customer and went in to get shoes for myself and my 2 children. I was prepared to spend over $350 for 3 pairs of shoes. My son liked a pair of shoes but the laces didn't fit. I asked for laces that fit my son's shoes and was told I had to pay extra for laces that fit his shoes. The sales person also tried to give me shoes that were 2 sizes too big for me because they didn't have my size. When I asked to speak with the owner, he did not seem to care and just looked at me with a blank stare. I left and went to Road Runner and received excellent service and fantastic shoes. read more

These guys are stellar at what they do, and they treat their customers right! I came into this location originally to try and find the cure - shoe-wise - to my sesamoiditis. My business has me walking and running consistently for many hours out of the week, so I've needed to switch from the minimalist field of shoes, over to the cushioned, stabilizing realm. Jay helped me to find a pair of Asics that came as an upgrade to the Hoka One One's I was wearing, and that accomodated my custom orthotic. We worked through a few different pairs, and he was very knowledgeable about their selection and what would best fit my needs. Wearing them out, they felt right, but after a week, I noticed a couple of particularities that weren't working for me - specifically due to the shape of my foot. Jay recommended another model over the phone at a closer location to me, so I went to check them out. The Kayanos have ended up being an amazing fit, and while a bit pricier, worth every penny. One of the greatest features to working with Future Track, is they want to find the optimal shoe for you... so, if your purchase isn't suiting your needs within 30 days, then you can bring it back and switch out for the pair that will better fit what you are looking for. They have definitely earned my business, and outshined Roadrunner, and a couple of the other local running shops I have been to. read more

I popped in here with a friend so she could get some things for her upcoming race, and I walked out of there with a beautiful, brand new pair of running shoes for $34! My ankles, knees and lower back have been hurting me for quite some time now. I have noticed that the severity of the pain depends on what shoes I buy. I heard about Future Track Runner Center from a friend and looked at their advanced DNA system on their website where they analyze your foot and fit you with the right shoe. So, today I decided to head over there to see what they could do for me. I walked in and soon as I started browsing was asked if I needed help, I assume by the owner. He had me walk around and looked at my feet as I did so. He did a great job in just a few steps determining what kind of issues I had with my feet. He picked out three pairs of shoes that he thought would be a good fit for me. The first pair was the one I bought. He strapped me in and told me to jog around the parking lot as he watched my feet. He agreed with his view that the first pair was the most supportive for my type of foot. Although there were a few people in the store, I didn't feel like he was rushing me as he asked if I wanted to try any pair on again. He also explained the differences in the types of shoes and gave me advice in buying shoes for other purposes. They were very friendly and really know what they were doing. I highly recommend this place to anyone who doesn't mind spending a bit on their feet for high quality service and products. read more

Not normally a poor review writer but after returning from my podiatrist appt today, Dr. recommended to find another shoe store because my symptoms described should have been a clear sign that I needed a wider, not longer, pair of shoes. So my one star is basically for their expertise. Here is my experience. I am a new runner who was experiencing numbness in my left foot after a couple of miles running. Original shoes (not purchased here) were Brooks GTS Adrenaline. The numbness eventually turned to shooting pain down my middle toes. Everyone told me either laces were too tight or look for new shoes. It wasn't the lacing, so I decided to go here based on all the great reviews. I described my problem, they looked at my shoes and told me that rather than a half size up, to go up a full size. I specifically asked about width and had them confirm that my foot took a normal width. I know nothing about selecting shoes, and was relying on their 'expertise' and took their word that my foot width was normal and they recommend several pairs. I tried them all on and they all felt good, but similar to my Brooks. I selected the Mizuno's due to the most cushioning. The numbness and pain did not change with the new shoes. I returned and complained about the numbness and asked if maybe I needed an insert. Still no mention about a wider shoe, so I purchased some inserts and continued to run in the shoes. The insert helped some but I still continued to have numbness and pain after several miles. I made a Dr. appt to ensure there was not some other reason for the pain. In the meantime, I purchased some trail shoes to break in (I am training for a tough mudder). These Merrill Tought Mudder style I ordered online from Amazon without trying on. I read that they ran big so I didn't order a full size bigger but just half size up. When they arrived I was going to return them, as they felt way too wide and kind of sloppy feeling, but decided to try running in them anyways. Amazingly, my first trail run of 5 miles was completely pain free with zero numbness. With this new knowledge, I returned to the store to see what they had in a wider shoe, expressing my disappointment that I have a pair of shoes less than 2 months old that never helped, and described my experience with Merrill. The salesman then showed me some Altra's that had a wider toe box similar in feel to the Merrill. Normally I would not have liked the feel but since they felt like the Merrell's I 'think' they might have worked, however with the dr app coming up, I wasn't going to buy another pair of shoes until I spoke with the doctor. That was today, and as I wrote initially the Dr. said that they should have known to recommend a wider shoe. So I felt that the staff knowledge is disappointing, and I spoke with 3 different people (although the 3rd salesperson finally recommend the Altras) Furthermore, no return or even partial credit was offered on my dissatisfaction in the original Mizuno shoes they recommended (plus the inserts which helped minimally). I asked the Dr about the Altra's and she couldn't speak to that brand, but recommended that for my neuroma, that I look at Hoka Bondi - a brand that is not carried at this store that I saw. All in all, I will try the Hoka's somewhere else and compare to the Altra's. My advice is to be careful with their recommendations but your mileage may vary. This has been my experience along with a new pair of Mizuno running shoes that I can't use and now need to buy the 'proper' shoe for me. Shoes $120, inserts $20, tax - all told I'm out over $150 for nothing. Sure I can use them for regular sneakers, but I already have my Brooks for that and frankly the Brooks look better than the Mizuno read more

Being an avid runner it's tough finding a comfortable place to shop for shoes. All the main chains have NO idea what they are talking about. They are selling on price point alone. Future Track has one of the smartest staffs I have ever encountered in regards to their product. I was blown away by their knowledge and their expertise in running shoes. They helped me select an amazing pair of running shoes for my first marathon (la marathon) and I am now racking up the miles on a great pair of trail shoes they sold me recently. I was referred to Future Track by my podiatrist. I recently broke a bone in my foot and needed some supportive tennis shoes. He referred me to a brand called Hoka but I'm sorry...they're kinda ugly. Suzanne directed me to a pair of New Balance that achieved the same goal. The main thing I do with my feet is walk to the couch so I didn't need a sales person with a high level of tennis shoe knowledge. But Suzanne seems to know her stuff and got me in and out in about 15 minutes. Next time I need a pair of shoes I'll go to Future Track because I love to support local business. Run on runners! Update: My broken foot wasn't loving the New Balance so I went back to visit Suzanne. I decided that I could sacrifice cute for comfort so I tried the Hoka. Future Track has a 30 return policy so I was able to exchange the NB's even though I wore them. Yay! read more

This store was recommended to me by a friend. Although it was quite the drive (I live in Torrance), it was definitely worth it. I had the best service from Ethan. Ethan was attentive, kind, & extremely helpful. I told him about the blisters I've been plagued with on the bottom of my right foot. They were caused by running with the wrong "running" shoes. Due to this, I was unable to run for 2 consecutive months. I needed new running shoes badly & wasn't going to risk running again and injuring myself. This store was previously temporarily closed due to the COVID crisis. So I waited patiently for the store to reopen and am so glad I did. Ethan assisted me throughout the fitting process. He measured my foot size & observed my gait. He recommended moisture wicking socks. He said that blisters were caused by friction & wearing the appropriate socks such as moisture wicking socks are essential to prevent blisters from forming. I must say his special attention to detail was impressive. After observing my gait, he bought out 3 pair of shoes for me to try on. They were as follows: Brooks (Ghost 12), Hoka One One, & New Balance. I tried each shoe and was surprised as to how comfortable they all were. I must admit, I've never worn shoes as comfortable as those shoes....like never. It was hard to make a decision, so I asked for his recommendation. After thoughtful deliberation, we decided on Brooks (Ghost 12). I am so glad I chose these shoes---they feel as if I am walking on clouds. I wore them immediately as soon as I got home and went out for a run at the park. It was honestly the best run of my life. You guys, I could cry (inserts three crying emojis). I am an avid runner and love to run. The shoes have a strong sense of support. I cannot believe I've been running with the wrong "running" shoes all of these years! I bought my previous shoes at JackRabbit in manhattan. I've been at a loss for shoes since moving back to LA, now that my New Balance 856's have been discontinued. Last night I went to Future Track and they spent a patient hour (80 minutes) helping me find great new shoes. After listening to my shoe and running history, they analyzed my gait and picked out an appropriate pair of shoes. After finding the right fit, they watched me walk around and then filmed me on the treadmill. These Brooks shoes appear to do a wonder to stop my over-pronation -- and they come with a 30 day return policy (from the shoe company). It was nice to be treated like a runner and helped by knowledgeable staff. The nice woman who helped me has been running and training people for many years and been at FTrack for six years. I like that I see Future Track at the local events like the Calabasas classic 5k/10k. And it helps that they're located so close to my office. Thanks again! Had him walk, watched his gait and how he walked. The brought out several shoes for him to try on based on his feet and walk. He has a slight arch so he needed a shoe with some arch support. As someone who just used to buy whatever pair of running shoes was on sale on Amazon or at Sport Chalet, this place changed my mind. Who knew that what kind/type of shoe you run in is so important? Well, now I know, thanks to Gloria at Future Track. I had meniscus problems before because I was running in a shoe for a pronator when I don't pronate (An Asics shoes I got on sale on Amazon). My recent pair of shoes from Future Track had virtually no break in time because they were the right shoes for my feet and style of running. And my knee problem disappeared. I can personally vouch for the fact that doctors, physical therapists and chiropractors refer people to this store because they are so knowledgeable and reputable. Their employees are avid runners, not just salespeople. Several employees also coach track/cross country in the area so they know their stuff and can help fit children and adults into the perfect shoe for walking, running, and training. Bottom line--This is not your average running store. Expect special attention and a customized shopping experience, in a no pressure environment. Ask for Gloria or Phil, although you can't go wrong with anyone here. They don't just try to sell you on the most expensive shoes or put you in trendy Nikes. Came here to find the right running shoes for me. I usually wear Nike's but recently, I started to get shin splints which haven't made it easy for me to workout or train for my outdoor runs. Since I'll be running in The Great Race in April, I want to make sure that my feet are good. This place is in a small shopping plaza and there's plenty of parking. I was greeted when I walked in and told the young man that helped me out about my shin splint issues and how I'm training for a half marathon. He had me walk in my socks then jog so he could see how my feet hit the pavement. I do suggest, don't wear slippery socks! He measured my feet and brought out three shoes for me to try on. I walked and jogged around the store with each. I was told about how important it is to have room for my toes and to wear the right socks. He also showed me some compression socks and sleeves which were cute but I wanted to see how I do with the shoes first. All in all, I had a very good experience here. I am an older woman who likes to walk. I have tried every popular brand of running shoes. I haven't found one that's been comfortable over an extended period of time until at Running Track, the Brooks Adrenaline was recommended to me. Not only do they know their shoes and how to meet a customer's needs, they are really pleasant to work with. I just ordered my second pair to be delivered to my home when the store was COVID19 closed. The wrong shoe came in and the process of changing them was fast and easy. About a month ago I went into this store to exchange a pair of Brooks sneakers for a different size. Keep in mind the sneakers had been worn prior...yet they were accepted as a return without nary a peep!! I could not have been more pleased in which the exchange was handled. The sneakers were ordered....I was given a call about a week or so after....in fact to take it one step further...one of the female workers had offered to drive the shoes to my house!! Unheard of!! We have shopped here twice for my daughter who runs track at MHS. Both experiences were very good. My daughter has sometimes had to warm up to their styles but then always chooses the ones they recommend. They are patient people who run and have run competitively for in school. There is also an area they encourage you to run in your potential kicks. They also have plenty of adult shoppers as well. They spoil them just as much as our athletes. I really like this store, I will continue to buy shoes from them as they have a good selection and decent enough prices, and there really is no comparison with the Newbury Park Road Runner store for service and ambiance. The big caveat for new shoppers is to make sure you get a knowledgeable AND sociable salesperson. I have been in twice so far, the first time, the salesman worked with me, talked about various factors of the different shoes, etc. It was great! The next time I went in, I had no conversation with the salesman, although I kept asking questions, I didn't really get good answers...good thing I had done my research before going in. My dad has been coming to this running store for years and recommended I go here when I began experiencing some heel pain. Every staff member is extremely knowledgeable and helpful rather than focused on making a sale. A staff member watched me walk and recommended two options to help take pressure off my heel. Where do I start! I have purchased my last few pairs of running shoes from this great store. I try to shop local as much as I can and with shoe prices online and big box stores sure I could save $10-20 but I would sacrifice so much more! Here is why...in Feb I decided to try a different brand, had a race coming up and needed new shoes. I vacillated and finally decided to try something different (poor sales rep I drove him crazy). I had done some distance, the shoes were causing me blisters and then the shutdown happened. After about 2 months from purchase I emailed Josh the owner and explained what was going on and just asked him what he thought I should do. He immediately looked at my purchase history and suggested I revert back to my Brooks shoes and suggested he send me a new pair and I just return the other ones when things reopen (whenever that was going to be). No hassle, no questions only solutions and suggestions. He ordered a new pair from the mfg, they were shipped to my house and about a week or so later a brand new pair of Brooks were at my house. And he was right, I ran with them and they were perfect. So the moral of the story is, shop local don't nickle and dime it's ok to spend a few more dollars. I am in sales and sometimes I am not always the lowest cost but sometimes I am, ultimately it is about service and support. They evaluated my running style on the treadmill and brought out 4 pairs of shoes to try. I ended up going with Adidas Supernova shoes. They were awesome!
