Oh Fuzzy's ... it's been about 5 or so years since my last visit (my first to this location) and this will probably be the end to my Fuzzy's era. My daughter & I visited UTA for a college tour & wanted to top a great experience off with a nice meal before embarking on our 5hr drive home. I ordered a taco plate with minimal modifications (no feta), easy. My daughter inquired about the veggie quesadilla - the young lady taking our order said: There are veggies, black beans, garlic sauce, pico ... Cool. My daughter requested a bean & cheese quesadilla, no pico & garlic sauce on the side. Easy, too. Right? Nope .... Quesadilla #1 - fully loaded (pico & all). I returned it with the receipt to show what we ordered just as we ordered it. The cook said remaking it would be no problem. Ok, nice. Quesadilla #2 - squash, zucchini & whatever other veggie with beans. I approached the young lady who took our order & simply requested a refund ... this is 2x the quesadilla was made incorrectly, even though the receipt said what we ordered. She asked me if she could get the manager because "We don't normally do that," aka refunds, I'm assuming. The manager comes out & asks if there's a problem. I review what happened & he looked like I was asking for free tacos for life. I showed him the receipt & I simply requested my $8 to be refunded because they incorrectly made the bean & cheese quesadilla twice. He tried to refer to the menu board to show me that what was made is what we ordered, but again... that's not what we ordered, either time. Again, I requested a refund ... he's squirming & says, "I mean, we really don't do that. Can I just make a cheese quesadilla?" At this point, I'm ready to be on level 10 of "Hell no", but daughter chimes in (to the rescue): Sure ... that's fine. She's a young adult, I'm working on balancing being momma bear & promoting autonomy, but her agreeing wasn't so she could get a quesadilla, it was to spare this guy. $8 ... The little devil on my shoulder wanted to send the 3d one back just for GP, but I'm working on some things & I can't behave like that. But I wanted to .... $8. I have been eating at Fuzzy's for over ten years, and this location is hands down the worst location I have eaten at. I keep going back because it is so close to my house and every once in a while it is good. But a majority of the time this fuzzy's location serves cold sloppy food. I just ate there last night and once again my nachos were cold and missing the garlic sauce, and there was just a tiny bit of meat. I know the nachos should be better because every time I get the nachos at the other fuzzy's' they are amazing and delicious. I want to make it clear, I am not knocking fuzzy's but I am saying that this location is the worst fuzzy's that I have been to in the DFW area. Atmosphere: Do you want to know what your mom and pop is doing on a Friday night? Well kids, most likely they are hanging out at the Fuzzy Taco Shop with Margaritas and beer in tow. Seriously, you would think this being so close to UTA it would be a college hang out (it surely does look like one). Nope, I guess this is the place to be when your parents want to mingle and catch up with old friends, be seen, relax after a hard day at work, or get away from the kids. Just expect a high school scenario, but instead of pimple face teens, they're your parents. Food: Coming in, I knew the tacos were going to be Americanized, but I'm sure you too would have figured that out by the name itself. I ordered the taco plate which comes with 2 tacos and 2 sides. I chose 1 baja grilled fish tacos in a hard corn taco shell and1 baja shrimp tempura in a soft corn tortilla as my entree. As for my sides, I chose mix-Mex fried rice and Latin fried potatoes I'll start with my sides first. The Latin fried potatoes looked delicious, but they were flavorless. All I can say is at least it was cooked, right? The rice, well it was up to par.....up to par with Uncle Ben's Minute Rice ( I ate most of it anyways). As for my main entree, nothing spectacular...except...except for the tempura shrimp taco. It has a nice crunch to it and I wanted more after finishing it. Alas, there was a HUGE line and I didn't want to wait, but maybe next time when we come back for breakfast tacos. Also, every table ( I am not kidding!) had a big Margarita drink on each table. I didn't want to feel left out so I got the frozen strawberry margarita. It was pretty good, but I didn't finish it in one setting because it was pretty huge (and very little alcohol). Overall,this place wasn't expensive at all considering we ordered the taco plate (mentioned above), ground beef burrito (it was huge), a fountain drink, and a frozen strawberry for under 18 dollars. All in all, I give the food 1 star, but for the Americanized shrimp tempura taco and the outdoor patio seating, I upped a star. So, If you decide to come here be sure to get the tempura shrimp, sit on the patio (if it's not too windy), and say, "hello" to the parents for me. read more

Ok, so ever since I've gotten back from California, I haven't been able to find a place with decent fish tacos until now. It's no west coast cooking, but it's the next best thing. If you're here for the fish tacos, I suggest getting the fried fish over the grilled fish though. I had a hard time finding enough bits of grilled fish to call it a fish taco. I honestly wasn't a fan of their salsa; it tasted more like bland marinara sauce. However, I'll definitely be coming back for more fish tacos and to try other menu items. We met up friends here last week and had our first Fuzzy's experience. The restaurant is large and spacious, so you don't have to worry about being claustrophobic. You'll walk up to the register to place your order and be seated until your meal is called over the microphone. I ordered the shrimp tempura taco plate with Latin fried potatoes and refried beans. Everything was yummy aside from the refried beans. I went back today and tried the black beans and those are just ok. If you can, get double Latin fried potatoes - they are the SHIZZ! The butt burning sauce isn't as spicy as it sounds... the flavor is more or less tangy. Be careful with the bottle when putting it on your food though, sometimes it'll squirt out really fast! Their fuzz drivers are delicious and cheap $4 and they also have huge glasses of margaritas and ice cold beer! We've also gone in the past week and have tried the migas, breakfast burrito, tamale plate, and tortilla soup (more like stew). Everything was good, but the tortilla soup. Go soon! read more

I returned Thursday night to try something new. Instead what I got was tepid food which happens to be the cardinal sin of restaurants and my pet peeve. This is Texas mates. With a Tex-Mex place on every corner, there is never, ever, an excuse to serve a tepid/lukewarm enchilada dinner on a room temperature plate and charge someone for it. It should be HOT. Steaming hot! Let me start off by saying that if this place was independently owned and was not named Fuzzy's Tacos, it would be out of business by now. The Fuzzy's name is keeping this place in business. I ate here the first month they were open and I was not impressed. The shredded garlic beef tacos were flavorless and came out of the kitchen room temperature. The tempura fish tacos were the same, flavorless and room temperature. It took a lot of sauce and salt to make these taste like something. It does appear to be a good backup location to drink beer if Gilligans is packed. I think you are better off going to some of the other authentic taquerias in town for hot and flavorful food. read more

I just don't get the hype about Fuzzy's. I've tried it, and tried it again on numerous occasions - it's just not up my alley. The only thing I actually enjoy is the alcoholic drinks, and that's just to try and forget about the experience my tastebuds were just forced to endure... I tend to order the Fuzzy Moon or Fuzzy Driver - except even with the justification of alcohol, I'm left unsatisfied - in my stomach and in my wallet. I've ordered tacos, ground beef and shredded beef, both of which were EH. That's the thing. It's just EH. Doesn't even deserve the title "Taco Shop" in my book. I'd literally rather go to Jimboy's or hell, even Del Taco and Taco Bell. At least THEIR hot sauce I can enjoy - at Fuzzy's their "Butt Burning Hot Sauce" isn't remotely close to living up to it's name. It's like some sort of watered down Tabasco meets chipotle salsa concoction. I threw up the shredded beef tacos once, because I was literally forcing myself to eat it despite the fact my stomach was clearly raising a white flag and begging for surrender to the horrid ingredients in my meal. Yet, I'd find myself back here because someone I know (with some pretty lame tastebuds - or maybe they got scalded once past the point of repair?) "likes" Fuzzy's. Well, let's just say I no longer feel 'obligated' to go for that lame purpose. I love myself and my tastebuds too much to endure that again. I've also tried enchiladas, which are smothered in some sort of gringo type of "cheese" that I'm 99.9% sure is melted Velveeta. Same goes for their nachos - the one thing I thought just might be safe to order was again smothered in what toxic queso would look like. The beans are some weird consistency that makes my heart break because I literally LOVE refried beans, shoot, any type of beans - and the fact I don't enjoy these beans is devastating to me. The only thing that would justify my eating this food again would be if I happened to find myself with the drunk munchies. Which is highly unlikely seeing as how I am not part of the high college volume that pollutes and yet very obviously supports this sham of a business. I thought college kids could at least pick a decent place to drink, but I'm again shocked because I'm proven wrong - they all flock for "drink specials" I'd pay for a regular priced drink, and not nearly as watery as it seems to be. I noticed that they opened another location in Las Colinas off 114 service road and MacArthur. Also somewhere else around the Dallas area. I was like WHAT? And that's what prompted this review. There are a lot of reviews for Fuzzy's already. So, I am going to take this in a different direction. I go here about once every two weeks with co-workers for lunch. The place is always crowded and business is good for them. The food is fresh and decent. The prices are OK on some items. The salsa is very bland......if you can get it. If you are a salsa fan, skip Fuzzy's unless you want your lunch price to rise up unnecessarily. Every Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurant in the DFW area seems to provide at least complimentary salsa (if not chips and salsa). I love salsa and add salsa to everything. Salsa at Fuzzy's is an extra $1,29. If you want chips and salsa, it is $1.99. The extra costs are not so bad if you go to Fuzzys only occasionally. But, making Fuzzys a regular lunch stop can be a little frustrating. Another item of annoyance, which is getting more common with many "serve yourself" restaurants, has to do with the obligatory tip jar at the front registers. At Fuzzy's, somebody takes your order (usually very friendly). You get your food when your number is called and get your own drink. There is no actual service provided. I am a generally a big tipper (20% or more for good service). So, I feel guilty to not tip at least $1 at these places with tip jars, even though I feel ripped off afterwards. A lot of self-serve restaurants are implementing this practice now. I wish they would stop or give us a good reason for doing so. If you want to attend Fuzzy's on a regular basis for lunch, the cost for a typical 3 taco lunch with Salsa can add up (including the small guilt tip). $5.97 for 3 tacos $1.29 for salsa. $1.99 for the refillable souvenier cup (you get this if you don't ask for the small) $0.76 for tax $1.00 for the guilt tip. Total lunch price for 3 tacos and a drink.....about $11. This is not bad if you are a tourist wanting to sample the "Fuzzy's Experience". But, regulars might feel somewhat ripped off IMO. The truth is, there are so many excellent Mexican or Tex-Mex restaurants in the DFW area. I just don't think Fuzzy's can compare with most other establishments on a cost or flavorful food basis. Fuzzy's seems to be a trendy place to go right now and is probably a good college hangout at night (large area with beer specials, etc). I was torn between giving Fuzzy's 2 or 3 stars. The food and ambience is probably worth 3 stars. But, charging for salsa is just rediculous and I wish that Fuzzy's ownership would do something about this ASAP. Salsa to Tex-Mex is like Ketchup to French Fries. I am not alone with this common criticism. People are shocked when they go to the front asking for Salsa, only to be told that it will cost them $1.29. read more

I have to believe that the original fuzzys had to be amazing. It's a shame however that there are so many locations now it has to be next to impossible to maintain a consistent product. Our daughter told us about this place she discovered in Baton Rouge that had "the best" tacos. We checked out the one in BR and although it was a good taco the place was kinda sterile and no one there working seemed to give a #+@*. This situation repeated itself when we tried again in Arlington. I guess I want every place to be a mom and pop shop with only family working there with everyone sharing a common goal to get as many people as possible to try their family recipes. You know, like the good old days when every town had one butcher, one baker, ......... Sadly now that there is a restaurant on every corner and in every old gas station there just aren't enough worker bees worth a flip out there to pull from. Again, the food was pretty good. Granted, the food here is not amazing, it is cheap, fast, and tasty. This fast-casual Tex-Mex joint offers up some solid tacos. For $6, you can get a taco plate, which contains 2 tacos and 2 sides. Though you don't get authentic tacos, you definitely get some unique tacos at Fuzzy's. With feta cheese and a delicious garlic cream sauce, you can't not like these. The garlic shredded beef and shredded pork meat are really tender... but they lack in flavor. The were almost indistinguishable from one another... and I know for a fact that a cow is not a pig. The side of bean portions are HUGE. I ordered black beans and borracho beans, and both were cup sizes. It doesn't get much better than that. So, if you're around old Arlington, there's a new sheriff in town... he's cheap, he's reliable, and he's good... He's Fuzzy. read more

Let me tell you, catering a party from Fuzzy's is the way to go. It was too damn hot to even consider cooking for my husband's birthday party. Much as I love him, I was not about to fire up the grill in August. Instead, I picked up the phone, called Fuzzy's and they handled it all. They really know what they are doing with catering. I pulled up the next day, popped open my trunk and they filled it, I mean filled it, with food. Trays of scrumptious meat, cheese, and everything necessary to create do-it-yourself-taco-extravaganza for about 100 people, all for the price of catering for 15. And they threw in a bottle of that killer sauce, too. Easy, delicious and an unbelievable value. All I had to do was take the cover off the trays and make some margaritas. Man I love this place. Can you say Dos Rita??? I've never liked margaritas because they are to sweet but add a beer and it really cuts the sweet. The food is great every time. Unlike other places the food here is consistently very good. I love the shredded beef tacos and the cheese enchiladas. The staff is always friendly. Even the couple of times that there has been a mistake on our order, they have instantly corrected it and never tried to make it seem to be an imposition. I highly recommend this location. I used ro be a regular here in the late afternoons ans early evenings. I stopped in foe breakfast this morning because I was craving their shredded beef on a taco. Their breakfast tacos didn't include the shredded brisket, so I asked did they do beef in the mornings. The counter server said no, so I ordered bacon egg and cheese, and an egg wirh potato bacon and cheese, dutiful including a 20%+ tip despite no table service. The tacos were flavorless so I asked for a salsa verde. The employee pointed at the bottle of "butt burnin' hot sauce" on the table, a vinegar concoction made in Arkansas. I clarified I wanted green salsa and her reply was to tell me that it costs money, neglecting to even mention the price! They get one and a half star for the taco, and I rounded up because I like the Blondie that they were playing. Next time I'll skip fuzzy ' s and go to one of the Taquerias. No wonder this place is 90% empty in the morning and the Shipley's donut place across the street is packed. read more

So I went back to Fuzzy's Saturday for lunch to grab some grub before my math final. This visit was VERY much different than my first. There was a line that was almost out the door but it moved surprisingly fast. Richard Q. and I were starving so we ordered chips and queso, shredded beef nachos, a garlic beef crunchy taco, a spicy shredded beef soft taco and a shrimp tempura salad with avocado ranch dressing. We waited for about 15 minutes for our number to be called out and somehow managed to carry out two large trays of food out to the patio where it was much quieter. Everything tasted amazing at first. The queso looked really bland but was pretty good. My salad was delish but the dressing was a little heavy on the ranch and not so much on the avocado but the perfectly breaded shrimp made up for it. Richard Q.'s nachos were good but these thin chips couldn't really handle the heavy chopped tomatoes, queso and chunks of shredded beef and sour cream. We definitely had to go back inside and grab a fork for this plate. As with almost all food, I desired something spicy to add to my meal and noticed that they didn't offer us any salsa for anything we ordered. I searched the big beer bucket on our table and found salt, pepper and a bottle with a sticker that read, " Fuzzy's butt burning sauce." hmm...challenge accepted. I poured as much as my taco shell could hold of this stuff and took a big bite. I was disappointed to find the "sauce" was a mix of what tasted like Louisiana hot sauce and red chili pepper sauce with maybe a little bit of Fuzzy's salsa. It was much more sour than spicy and didn't do my taco very much justice. We only made it half way into our meal and were stuffed so I went inside to look for to go boxes but couldn't find any. I waited patiently in line next to the pick up counter where everyone seemed extremely busy but was given everything I needed immediately from a pretty handsome tatted up cook. I was debating on giving this visit 3 or 4 stars but stuck to a 4 because the food is delicious for the first half of your meal and the place was incredibly busy but the staff is attentive and always friendly so I didn't mind waiting a few extra minutes. After a while, the nachos were getting tiring to consume and my salad was just too big for one sitting but they still tasted great when we had them for a snack later that day. The damage for all of this was about $25 and I got another reusable plastic I heart fuzzy's cup that also says " I got your taco" on the back which alone is another reason for me to come back. read more

I ordered a beef, grilled shrimp and grilled fish taco to see which I liked best. The beef seemed somewhat dry even with all the sauce. The fish wasn't what I was expecting. It was somewhat like shredded fish mixed with seasoning. I was expecting a single piece of fish in the taco. Overall the shrimp was my favorite...they were well seasoned and plump, just as shrimp should be. My coworker got the shrimp quesadilla which looked to be more food than my three tacos!!!!! I work pretty close to here so on my next trip it will be the shrimp quesadilla I try. read more

I go here about once a week for an order of kids cheese nachos and an iced tea in my Fuzzy's cup. It's not spectacular, but something keeps bringing me back here. Their kid's menu items are large enough for an adult, and the adult items are large enough to share, which is nice. You order at a counter, so no waiter, but the staff walks around picking up plates and will get you anything that you need. One word of caution - their Barracho Beans taste like Corona - no the "oh, its a little beer" but "holy cow, who emptied the keg in here!!?!" The black beans have pico de gallo mixed into them already, but are pretty good. They can get packed at lunch and dinner times, but if you can go during an 'off hour' they are quick to get your food to you. read more

I've been here maybe half a dozen times for fraternity, student organization events. My two cents: - It's a convenient meetup spot near UTA. It's easy to spot on Abrams, and I've personally never had a problem finding parking in the large lot. Great for groups, especially given how easy it is to put tables together. - Fun drinks. I actually like that my margarita will have a beer sticking out of it, or little shot capsules. Adds a bit of visual spice. - Fun drinks aside, the environment is very family-friendly through dinner. On the weekends Fuzzy's is pretty consistently packed with families getting a bite to eat between fun and errands. - Orders seem fast, prices are fine. I can't really comment on the food, as I've only ever taken bites of other people's orders. I'm just not the guy to ask about Mexican or Tex-Mex. That said, Fuzzy's has definitely got a lot going for it. I'll be back, I'm sure, and often. read more

These days, my experiences with taco shops seem to go the same way: I'm excited about trying a new one, The early events go well, but I am disappointed by the food. That's the story here, except I was a little less disappointed than usual (but that's not saying much.) We met my wife's cousin for lunch a little early (about 11:15a,) so Fuzzy's wasn't too crowded (though there were a fair number of people in there, including many Arlington Police and Fire Department personnel -- First good sign!) As we walked in the door, they had "Beat It," by Micheal Jackson blasting, and I noticed that the tables all prominently said, "EAT ME!" Goofy, but kind of cool. I placed my order for the taco plate with a tempura-battered fish taco, a chicken taco, black beans, and rice. Then, I saw that they had Coke Zero in their soda fountain -- ANOTHER good sign! Then the food was ready. The tacos came on white corn tortillas, which were good (though I'm not sure that they were homemade.) The chicken taco was essentially flavorless. I tried their "Butt Burnin' Hot Sauce" to try to add some flavor, but not only was the sauce not that hot, but it didn't have much flavor at all. The fish taco was better, but nothing to go out of your way for. The rice and beans were fine, but who really cares at the end of the day (in other words, even if they were the best rice and beans in the world, they can't make up for mediocre tacos.) The food here is decent, but compared to other places it is not authentic mexican. The wait to order food is WAAAAAAAAYYY too long for the quality of the food. The best thing about this place is the drinks. I ordered the margarita with a corona in it and it was very good. It was only $8. My friends who came and ate with me ordered the regular swirl margaritas and claimed they loved them! They were only $6 which is a very good price!! Fuzzy's food was alright at best.... My husband and I weren't wowed at all. We managed to drive right by it when we were trying to find it. My husband and I both ordered taco platters and were not impressed with the size of the tacos at all. I think I had more rice than tacos. Someone needs to tell management to fix the front door. It was cold today and the door kept blowing open. I had to put my jacket back on. For us, Fuzzy's did not live up to the hype and wasn't really worth the drive over there. I've been to Fuzzys many times as its a very good place for Mexican food . But on a few occasions my order was not right ! That's where my man Jesse steps in , this young man is so understanding and helpful . He's very good at what he does and makes you feel like you're just as important as the next guy ! I had a coupon for buy 1 taco plate get 1 plate free. The man who took my order said that we can only get beef or chicken. Even though it said to choose any two tacos. The man with glasses w/ a beard seems to be hispanic wearing an anchor gold chain was giving us an attitude even though I go here often with my friends. Finally got around to trying this place, which is surprising considering how fond I am of tacos. My first impression of Fuzzy's was that it's definitely in the right place, wedged next to the UTA campus and not much farther from Cowboys Stadium. It definitely looks like a place to pound a few beers, a taco or two, and watch whatever game you're interested in. There are plenty of televisions around, and a plethora of indoor and outdoor tables in which to hang out with many or with a few. There's a line especially for beer, of which there is a generous selection. Now, the tacos! There is a pretty nice variety of options here, from fish and shrimp to all different kinds of beef and chicken. While on my visit I sampled the grilled shrimp taco, garlic shredded beef taco, and the special ground beef taco, all in a crunchy shell. My husband favored the tempura fish taco in a soft tortilla. All of them were pretty freaking good tacos; the veggie to meat proportions were spot on, and the special sauces added just the right amount of zest and dimension to the overall flavor. We bother ordered seconds, they were so good. The grilled shrimp was my standout favorite. And for those not exactly in the mood for tacos, there are plenty of other options, from over-sized burritos featuring the same ingredients as the tacos to dinner plates with enchiladas or salads, soups, and sandwiches. There is even a breakfast menu for all you early risers out there. My only qualms with Fuzzy's so far (because I will definitely be back sometime in the future) is pricing. As far as their other menu items go, the prices are pretty reasonable. However the $2 tacos, being regular sized tacos, can really add up on you if you're more than a little hungry. Three tacos and a drink will put you dangerously lose to that $10 mark, and I was able to put away four and a half on my first visit, so beware of that. If I'm sporting an appetite next time I'll be sticking to a dinner plate, methinks. Overall Fuzzy's does show some promise! Admittedly they're no Torchy's, but it's a good start in overly-capitalist-food-chain Arlington. read more

What a fun environment. One of my co-workers recommended we eat here and I am glad we did. Try have a unique twist on traditional Mexican and Mediterranean food. I got the ground beef tacos. Be prepared they use Feta rather than a Mexican blend of cheese. Sat on the covered patio and will mention that the birds do like to scoop up any food that is left behind. I didn't mind because it was entertaining to watch. This place makes you feel like there is a beach nearby. read more
