To start- you have never met someone more picky than me about my hair color and cut. I know what I want, and I wont settle. I do a lot of research prior to trying a new stylist. Well, here is my secret to amazing baby-lights, balayage, and sassy cuts: Heather Johnson. She knows what will look good on you, and knows how to execute exactly what you ask for. She not only is an artist behind the chair but so kind. She truly cares about you and it's evident in her work and how she treats you. she is VERY reasonably priced. especially for the time she spends, the experience, and of course, the outcome. FYI - i have fine hair. Naturally mousy brown color. I get babylights to lighten it up and HAVE to have a soft grow out. I basically want to look like a surfer when it grows out. Heather at Fete Bar is my savior! Okay, that might be a little dramatic, but seriously she has done magnificent things to my hairstyle. I first started going to her about four years ago when my overly bleached hair needed tender loving care. Since then, her and I have continued to communicate about what my hair needs, what style fits my face shape, and the color that compliments my skin tone. I've had 1 hair stylist my entire life, so when I moved to Boise I was very hesitant with a new stylist.. Then I was referred to Heather Prussia! (I'll never look for another stylist again!) I came in for a bang trim today and Brooke were my hair stylists. first I show her the bang I wanted and she seem like she understood but the second she started cutting I had a bad feeling in my gut. she didn't measure or ask where I part until the middle of the haircut. Looks nothing like the picture I showed her and had to tell her to fix it three times. after almost an hour and thirty minutes in I give up. both side is sooo uneven, the piece doesn't connect at all and just look like dog chew on it. Thx to her I have to find another place to fix this crap looking thing. If I could it would be 0 star. Idk if she know what she's Doing because I held the pic up for her the whole time And still nothing came close to the bang I wanted. read more

I was so nervous to get my hair done for the first time in Bosie (I'm from the east coast & moved here recently). I didn't request anyone specific and ended up with Crystal, who was amazing! She's really nice, VERY gentle, takes her time & is super thorough. I love my result! The color is great, granted my request wasn't very complicated (all over dark brown dye) but it was a great, relaxing experience. The place is really cute too & very conveniently located right downtown across from Zion bank. It's a little pricey ($100 for just color) but I'd rather pay more for something I'm happy with then pay less for something I'm not. Would totally go with w Crystal again! read more

I have been getting my hair professionally done for the past 11 years in this community, as well as some of the top salons in the nation, maintaining my beautiful naturally thick healthy hair. As a natural blonde, I do not need to do much to my hair besides tone it. The past year I have been having my roots colored dark brown/black. My stylist, Cassie Reavis, had been doing my hair the past year. I went into my appointment on dec 30 with clear instructions to slowly start moving the blonde back up, to eventually not have to maintain roots any longer. Had no problem with this being a gradual process...but she insisted on lifting the color out with bleach. I was hesitant because I've never had lightner placed on my roots, but also trusted her as the professional. Keep in mind this salon uses or advertise "Olaplex" I asked her about it and she said she did not like using olaplex. She puts the bleach on my head leaves the salon to go get more bleach....I sit there with bleach on my head while the other 6 people working think nothing of it. She rinses me out, then there is a red ring I say it's ok if I have to keep it like this for a few weeks, but she says she can not have me leaving the salon like that....puts bleach on my head again, while the owners and other professionals say nothing. Basically she applied this bleach on that line and overlaps color a huge error from a professional...beauty school 101. Takes me back to the sink for an hour where she struggling putting Toner and who knows what else in my hair....takes me back to the chair and I have no hair! Over 90% of my beautifully maintained hair had fallen out at the wash bowl. Everyone staring at me including owners as I stand there in complete shock and humiliation...she is almost in tears apologizing for her mistake and says to go to another salon for a color correction specialist.....I left Fete looking like the photos below. Not once did they reach out to me, offer any sort of Compensation such as hair conditioning treatments to try and salvage what was left on my head. It is disgusting that a business like this exists with absolutely no customer service or care for their clients. Not once did they reach out to see if I was ok. I showed them respect by remaining calm and not causing a sene in front of the clients that were there. It sickens me that these small business owners have no pride or respect for the industry that they are in and not one ounce of professionalism. Save your money and go else where, where they take pride in their jobs and customer service and remain professional as a business and to their customers! read more

Had an appointment this morning, which was important to me, yet not one of the three stylists in the shop bothered acknowledging that I was there. I might as well have been invisible. In my opinion, this isn't how you treat customers, and I'll never go back. After 20 minutes, I got up and left. I choose to frequent businesses that care about their customers!!! read more

She really takes time at the start of my appointment to listen to what I'm thinking, and not only clarifies what I want, but also makes suggestions. Even if it's just a simple trim, my style turns out flawless. She is so easy to talk to as well, and the time flies by in her chair. Fete is a blatant and partially well-executed copy of Swink Style Bar in Seattle. It looks nice, is situated in an excellent location, and should be amazing. Unfortunately, the haircut I received was the worst I've had in over ten years. Maybe I got a stylist having a bad day. Maybe the two pictures I brought in weren't clear enough for her. Or maybe it was that she spent so much time trying to sell me products that she didn't leave enough time for actual cutting. It's hard to tell. But when I told her I did NOT want razor cutting done, she seemed to be unsure what to do with me. There were a few snips and chops, and I was sent on my way. Like I said, it's a friendly, busy, well-located place. But I'm still in search of a Boise-based stylist that can handle long, wavy, fine-textured hair. Sigh. read more

I will simply relay my experience. I usually spend over $100 for a well executed color, cut and style with a very educated hair styliest. I know several people that have purchased Amazon Coupon type specials and had good experiences and I purchased my first coupon special ever at The Fete Style Bar (after reading these reviews). It was $50 for Haircut, color, style and brow wax (valid with Jessica & Mandy). I thought it would be a nice way to try out what I thought would be a competitive salon/stylist; a fresh take. The style bar is decorated in a minimalist style and very open. However, I would not return to this locale, nor would I recommend the stylist or the establishment due to association based on my experience. My stylist was nice, but made very little effort to really engage a potential new client. I also spent a total of 2 1/2 hours for a color touch up (roots, not entire head), trim of long hair & bangs and a hair brush styled blow dry -- no eyebrow wax as stated on the voucher. My stylist was located in the front window display area. I felt like I was a hair model. The construction workers and passers by were watching my entire beauty regimen. It was awkward. I don't think any woman, at least 40 on up, wants to have the public viewing her in this fashion. When the color was rinsed out I had water sprayed down my neck and shoulder. After blow drying my hair and styling it only with a brush, my hair did not look very nice or "salon styled". This place is called the "fete style bar" right? The nape of my neck area was, in fact, still damp when she wisked off the cape (by the way, I took off my collared shirt to minimize damgag). She also did not do any eyebrow waxing that was supposedly paid for as part of this special. I didn't specifically mention it for a few reasons: her lackluster performance thus far and even after I pointed to the voucher title, which she read to redeem the voucher, it was obvious that she'd ignored it and I didn't want someone to mess with my eyebrows if they were obviously in not mood to do so! 3 hours later that back of my neck area that was left damp was irritated and itchy. I reached back to scratch and came back with full on dyed fingertips. Apparantly, she didn't even rinse all the color out! So, now I have a rash on the back of my head and I had to rewash my hair and dry it again that same day. Also, the collar of my shirt that I put on after the cut is full of dye and, of course, ruined. This will be their feedback. I will not call as there would really be no remedy to my experience; I would not go back there in any case. I wish I had an entirely different experience. I feel bad that the Fete Style Bar will suffer also as a result of my experience. When using this type of advertising, the management should really impress that the individuals that execute the voucher must fulfill the entire offer; it does reflect on them too no matter what. read more

I recently moved to Meridian from the "OC" in Southern California. I had no luck in finding a real hair "stylist" and was very close to making a trip back to the OC just to get my hair cut. Fortunately, a friend recommended Mari Holm at The Fete Style Bar and thankfully, she made time to get me in! I am extremely pleased with how my hair turned out and couldn't be happier to have found Mari. She took time to look at my hair, make suggestions and was extremely pleasant. This was my first time at Fete, and I'm a Las Vegas resident, who was in Boise for the holiday. After my long-term stylist left town, I haven't been able to find a great stylist in LV that don't work at high-end Strip salons. After checking reviews, I booked a haircut with Tara Chowdry, who was reportedly good with long naturally wavy hair. Tara did an amazing job! I love my haircut! I haven't said that in a long while. I showed her some styles from a fave Instagram account and she loved the lived in look as well. She knew just what to do. Not too much off, but just enough inner layers to create body, movement and a modern edge to my natural locks. I can hardly believe how great my hair looks. I totally recommend Tara! read more

If I could give Mari at Fete Style Bar 10 stars, I would do it! If you're looking for someone who will listen to what you want then GIVE it to you, you want to come to Mari. As one of the co-owers of Fete, you know she has a vested interest in giving great service, but I suspect that no matter what, she'd give great service. I went in with a very long, unmanageable tangle of curls but I had a couple of pictures of styles I was interested in. Mari looked over my pics, we talked about how much time/effort I can put into a style (uh, that would be 5 minutes daily - on a good day) and she got to work. I had a lot of hair coming off and with anyone else I would have been sitting in the chair flipping out...but from the start Mari put me at ease and I could tell she was really focused on making my hair the best it could be. For the first time I can ever remember, I walked out of a salon entirely happy with my look. Now 3 weeks later, I marvel daily at how great my hair style still works and looks. And the best part? Even located downtown, this fantastic cut didn't cost me an arm and a leg. Yes, I had to pay for parking, so that was a very, very slight downer, but I'm telling you, it was worth it. I've been looking for a permanent stylist for 5 years, no joke. Mari's won my business hands-down. read more
