They still have my stuff. They asked me to sign a paper that would hold them harmless while paying even more money. I have already paid more than what I was originally quoted . The manager spoke with me on the phone and told me that they would be willing to "cut me a deal" on the remaining balance, which is already over double of what I was originally quoted. The original company that quoted me $2151 was Top Tier Moving. They are a broker that give extremely low prices to people on purpose to collect the down payment. Then, when their actual moving truck shows up, they double the price after they get it loaded on the truck. G & M Moving and Storage had my wife sign a paper so they could "start the loading"with the original quoted price of $2151 and James didn't write the final price of $4314 until after the truck was loaded. It's not like something that you do all of the time so no one would even think that there are scams that take place with moving companies because they should be trustworthy! It's a real thing. Absolutely horrible moving company. They essentially hold your stuff hostage after pick up. They under quote you on purpose and then when they show up and all of your stuff is loaded onto the truck it's double the price and you have no choice but to pay. They fail to mention that the delivery date you provide is the first available date and they can deliver your stuff up to 30days after that date. This entire experience has been a nightmare that I can't escape. From the very start it was a lie and the moment the drove off with my stuff my heart sank. Day 1) They have me a window of 10am-2pm. So, I stayed in my apartment that had no utilities on waiting for their arrival. They arrived to my apartment at 6:30pm. The men surrounded me belittling me, bullying me, and throwing my items around. I had a male friend come supervise and the movers tone changed immediately. Once the truck was packed they charged us double the estimate and tried to charge nearly $500 in packing materials when it was all packed. We were told our stuff would arrive in 3-5 days. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Day 4,5,6- We tried to get an estimated delivery. We were told they didn't know where the truck was and were told we'd get a call back. When this company packed my truck from storage they just stuffed my items in to the truck. They took the fragile items that were on top in storage and put them on the bottom. They shoved items in damaging and denting them. They did not wrap my crome and wood tables in moving pads damaging the wood and crome and losing parts. Their insurance company is useless. They were HORRIBLE. A driver who delivered my stuff was a LIER and RASIST. They took over 1.5 month to deliver my stuff from NY to LA, which is over beyond their "maximum estimate time." And I asked the driver for the fastest delivery, he told me it was gonna take 6-12 days. Although that driver picked up my stuff was really kind and good person, I personally evaluate him very highly, the nightmare started after that. My stuff didn't arrive after 1.5 month. How would you spend your new life without any of your furniture and appliances? This terrible time broke my back, and I lost my precious time for work because all of my equipments were in the truck. I called the movers (United Moving Company) many many times but they barely pick up the phone. If they do, you can't expect anything. You can't contact to the carriers... which you're supposed to be able to but they NEVER picked up the phone... The movers don't have the ways to contact the carrier, this is really a stupid and irresponsible system. When finally they arrived, there were many confusions, the driver changed the schedule many times and they didn't tell me they only accept cash and paychecks, but because of their too late notification, I had no time to prepare them. The driver guy treated me like a garbage when he realized that I didn't have cash. (Which I negotiated a few ways to make it up) He lied to me, tricked me and kept cursing me with RACISM WORDS. I cried on the street and people saw it. I have the voice memo with me. But they still NEVER APOLOGIZED to me about it. So so so bad. I need them to show me some respect at least. They will threaten to sell your belongings if you don't pay, then will claim a $75 fee for every hour you do not give them the extra money. The worst company . DO NOT RECOMMEND. They do not answer the phone. I told the company that I wanted a direct move and the driver told me my items would be here within a day or two. I do not know where the disconnect was. You are given a price when you schedule a pick up, when the driver finally comes, they give you a whole different prices that's at least double what you were originally quoted. The contract clearly shows what date I want my things delivered, and I still do not have my stuff. I will be reporting them to the better business bureau. If I could give zero stars, I would, but I have to give one. They almost broke my husband's motorcycle trying to load it and refused to load the lawn mower as they wouldn't be able to fit the two other loads that they had to pick up in the truck. This is the epitomy of " bait and switch" and misrepresentation. This is what is known by the Federal DOT as a rogue moving company, contracted by a broker. I should have done my research before, but circumstances prevented it. All the "You might have a rogue moving company if...." 5 reasons, which ALL applied. I got an actual, physically estimated binding estimate from North American Van Lines, that a broker stated " send me their estimate, I'll beat it". I foolishly did, which he recreated vebatim on their letterhead, but much lower, again on a BINDING, NOT OVER, estimate. The next day, the broker called, again without seeing any of our items, said he was QA and revising their inventory, raising their price approx $400 more. We had agreed to order their original service. On moving day, a half full, rented Ryder truck showed up, with 3 men, 2 who spoke no English. They rapidly taped and covered our items, placed them on our front lawn, breaking our door , not having enough space for our shipment , damaging numerous items, and stated they would arrive at our destination in 3 to 5 days, since we would not be at the destination until day 2. It is now day 10 and the " subcontractor", G&M Moving of Bayonne NJ, "Stefon", says he doesnt know where it is, somewhere between NJ and Florida. He stated he had no idea why anyone else had given us a delivery date and to deal ONLY with him. I will be filing a complaint with the Federal DOT, ICC and possibly reporting our items stolen, as noone seems to know where they are. The broker has updated us to " it's in a warehouse in North Carolina now" and "might be there by Saturday, the 10th". They increased our price an ADDITIONAL $2000. UPDATE When they arrived on Nov 9th, the driver demanded an additional $600, extortion by any definition, to which I replied " That's not happening. I will call the Sheriff now." He called "Stefon" , who called back from a number showing as "Germany" , and asked "What's the problem? " I did not pay the $600. Please don't ever use this company very poor customer service. How do you pick up someone's personal belongings and quote them a price then up the price. Once they delivered the furniture then they make and excuse that they can't get down the street, so they charge you and extra $400. even though they made it down the street. On top of that the charge you $75. for every 100 steps that they have to take to the furniture off the track and into the apartment. This company is absolutely horrible. I will be sending a letter to the Senator, Local Government of New Jersey because this business needs to have their license revoked. Agreed with Steve. They showed up an hour and a half late to begin with. Then the truck they sent wasn't big enough, even though we told them everything we were moving. So they had to make a second trip (more on that later.) Thirdly, they quoted us 3 hours estimate to move everything. It took them 5 just to load the truck!!!!! Lastly, because they had to make a second trip they told us "sign this contract well make a new 1 for the second trip." We did, they load up the truck with out stuff, and we're never seen again. Wish negative stars was an option. This company is horrible. The broker I stupidly used was also a scammer, but that is a different review. I agreed to pay $12,000 for a full service pack, ship, and unpack job from Virginia to Arizona on a semi trailer. I was promised 4 professional packers. When 3 people showed up in a 20' truck the nightmare started. The driver was a lazy smoker that constantly swore and complained the packing wasn't already finished. The two day laborers the driver picked up worked hard, but were far from professional packers. 6 hours later the truck was full, leaving two rooms left to pack and 300 cubic feet of items left to transport. The driver then informs me the cost of the job is going to be double the quoted amount. After two calls to corporate and negotiations, I had no choice but to fork over much more money, in large part due to the fine print of the paperwork I signed before the job started. The ignorant driver struggled with the basic addition and subtraction required to complete the paperwork. They ran out of boxes and didn't crate my golf clubs, despite a promise to do so once they returned to the warehouse. Upon delivery there are many damaged items. These people should be ashamed of themselves. They charged $4000.00 to move a 20x20 storage space with only enough stuff in it to fill the front of the small truck they rented to come pick it up. It was delivered three weeks or so after they picked it up. Boxes and plastic bins were destroyed, a fireproof lockbox that had been locked was broken in two with the hinge being destroyed. There were items missing also. When the two men came to pick up the items a paper with boxes and inventory was filled out. He was writing on his leg most of the time so it did not go through to the last copy. he said we would get the papers upon delivery and will be able to check off items as they come off the truck. This did not happen and now the company says they will not replace any items that were not in inventory. The pages received upon arrival were mostly blank also and we received two of the same pages. I hired Gem moving and storage to transport my furniture from NY to my home in SC. However, when they arrived I was missing almost half of my furniture. When I informed them I was missing half of my furniture they stated they would deliver it another day without giving me an actual date. They also did not want to assemble ANY of the furniture they disassembled to get it into their truck. They were being very rude and helpless. They were also obligating me to pay an extra $100 for "the inconvenience" of them having to move my furniture from the truck to my house which was only a few feet away. Before I can even take a look at what furniture had arrived in their truck, they were forcing me to sign the inventory sheet and pay the $100 or else they were NOT going to move my furniture out of the truck and into my home. ALSO, the agreement for the move was a total of $2,000. I accidentally zelled an extra $100 and asked for them to return it. It has been 1 month and they STILL have not refunded me the extra $100. Also, my microwave, toaster, electric rice pot, fridge door and hose are all damaged! This is by far the worst service experience I have ever encountered. read more

Horrible company! High employee turnover, they lost a huge mirror (they probably broke it and claimed it was lost). I spent over three weeks talking to the newest employee "Bella", but I had to call each and every time. They never returned calls, I spent weeks trying to get my things delivered (they claimed it was in storage in CA, but my stuff stayed in a hot warehouse in ny somewhere - they claimed climate controlled storage, but my melted candles say otherwise). They broke a number of items totaling more than $1000 and told me to file a claim so they could offer a settlement of less than $100. They never answer the phone and claim to not speak English, or claim you had the wrong number when they do 'accidently' answer. I used G&M for the second time - this time for larger furniture. Gaby, Angelo, and Jose were my movers and were very professional and efficient (which is important because they are flat rate per hour). They had to disassemble a large wall unit with mirrors and I was pleased they did it without a scratch. I had to reschedule the move to New Year's Eve of all days and their office manager, Michele, found a way to accommodate. I highly recommend them and will use them again in the future. read more

However, since I do read reviews and there are those that do sometimes sway my choice to use a particular company, I felt it was necessary to write a review to warn everyone and anyone out there to NOT use this company... First let me say I do agree with some of the other reviews about this being a bait and switch and with the timeliness of this company in regards to showing up for the move. This company moved my mother's belongings after she became ill and I was moving her to FL. My mother's belongings were delivered to a storage unit. I immediately noticed something of extreme value was missing. I immediately called the company to let them know. They informed me that they did have this item and they would send it to me. Approximately 2 weeks after the initial delivery I still hadn't heard from them. I called again and they stated they were sending this item to my home and a driver would contact me. A driver contacted me in the evening on10/31 and told me that I needed to meet him in another town approximately 30 minutes from my home. I told the driver that he needed to deliver it to my home as this was the agreement. He said he would call me back. He did not. I called G&M the next day and they told me they would look into the matter. I consistently called and calls were not returned or I kept getting the run around when I was able to get in touch with them (constant "I will look into it and call back", which they didn't). Finally a man from G&M said he would have the item shipped to me through fed ex. Two weeks of waiting I received nothing and began the process of calling the company at least once a week again. Finally today, the man that I spoke with admitted that the driver who was supposed to deliver this item is no longer working for the company and they can't reach him. Apparently he still has the item. G&M doesn't know where it went. There are too many holes in their stories and I cannot possibly relay how many different excuses I have heard from G&M. G&M has been completely unprofessional throughout this process through not returning calls (despite the fact that their recording states they will get back with you within 2 hours), through lies and through attempts to stall this process. While filing a complaint today I read that a complaint can only be filed within nine months. Thankfully I am still within that window. I really just wanted the picture back, but it is obvious G&M has lost it and until today (6 months later) didn't want to admit it. Now I have to figure out a monetary value for this item (or someone else does), an item that really can't be given a monetary value or ever be replaced. Nothing is ever guaranteed and mistakes do happen, but how you attempt to remediate the situation and how honest you are throughout that process can make all the difference. I only check the star so I can leave my review. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. It has taken over 7 weeks to get my thing delivered. on a weekly basis they have told me it is on the truck and coming my way. Each time it hasn't showed on on the days I am told to expect it, I have called they only to be told something happened and I will have it in the next few days. For 7 weeks this has gone on. They never once called to say it wasn't coming for what ever reason. I finely received my delivery at 8:15 pm on a Sunday night. I was scheduled to be here by 4-6 pm but again it was late. I am missing 4 boxes and a new shelf from my shipment. I was also told to file a claim. The things that was delivered has quite a bit of damage to the furniture, my floor and Bannister was damaged while they were bring my things into the house. My boxes were wet, some of the totes even had standing water still in the tote. I was over charged, lied too and will never use this company again. I started out with Crown moving company, then the night before they were supposed to pick up my items to move from RI to Florida on April 26, 2016, they called and said they couldn't make it and they were sending G&M moving company. Already had a set price after a $100 deposit, back in January, 2016. Anyway, the 2 movers from G&M show up, one named James, who just stood there, didn't move one thing, had the smaller man do EVERYTHING himself, I mean EVERYTHING, while James just talked about how they accept tips and then finagled numbers on the cost of the move, and jacked up the price another $100 while pretending to be on the phone with the boss from G&M moving co, saying I was over the 308 cubic feet I was allowed. I am not an asshole. Nor am I an idiot. Yes, there are a few males left in this world who think a female is an idiot. I listed everything on a inventory list, even adding a few extra boxes, to make sure I didn't go over the space allowed. when I can figure out how to attach the scribble sheet with the figures on it from James, I WILL ATTACH IT FOR ALL TO SEE, it was bullshit. Absolute, bullshit. So, they said, they will be at my new apartment in Florida on Friday the 29th, NO SHOW, Saturday the same NO SHOW, finally they call on Sunday and showed up later that day, with a big ass freight liner truck, which they picked up my things on a smaller box truck in RI. The first thing the two DIFFERENT MOVERS said was, THEY NEED THE BALANCE BEFORE THEY UNLOAD, of course I pay the balance, because I was loosing my mind at that point, being disabled, and having to sleep on a floor for 4 nights, the first 8 boxes they took of the truck were smashed, opened, damaged, and wet, with most of them opened. Now at this point I try to call manager at G&M and no answer. I was missing things, alot of things smashed and broken, insert on fake fireplace ripped out, all furniture was wrapped, but somehow legs broken off, cracked in half, and a antique chest that was great grammy's, that was 2 inches thick was cracked in half because it was thrown on to this larger truck upside down, and it was wrapped in blanket bureau's were all missing handles and nobs, chunks of wood ripped off, mirror cracked. I could go on for hours, how discouraging it is to trust this move and mostly all your shit it broken, missing, and cant be replaced, and they dont give a shit. then they tried to add $75 for the 2 additional stairs, which I DID NOT PAY, and now to figure out how to get receipts for my 3 year old furniture that was ruined, and how can you put a price on things you cant replace, to fill out a form they told me to do on line at moving claim.com, how can I take pictures, when even my camera was broken in the move. horrible experience! we were set to move 2/14/15 at 9 am~ 9am comes along and they're not there. they said the truck broke down and they would be there 9:30 needless to say after a bunch of rude remarks from James and him telling me to reschedule till the next day which wasn't an option they showed up at 12.07 and ran me a bunch of bs that wasn't in my original estimate or contract. these guys are crooks! I was told 7 hours total because we were moving 3 hours away. it took them 6 hours to load a 2br apt! and that's with myself and my husband helping them.!!! if im paying for a service I shouldn't have to lift a finger. they made me take my own TVs in my car because they wanted to charge extra to wrap them when it was free. tried to charge me massive money to put the beds in plastic bags so we went out and bought our own. tried to hustle my husband into tipping them big because they gave a sob story about how the company slaves them at $9 an hour and they do all this work for tips. I bought them food because they were complaining they were hungry but then got charged for their 45min lunch break smh. they milked the clock for sure! there's no doubt about that for 3 extra hours and I watched them do it. took 1 hour to load 3 items that were not big bulky or heavy. these people had me hysterical~ more the foreman than the workers. the driver told me its not his job to lift a finger just to supervise and move around the stuff on the truck. they disassembled a lot of things and then never put them together. im missing all the hardware to reassemble my furniture!!!!!!!.. when we got to the new house james pulled my husband to the side and hit him with an $1100 bill when it was supposed to be $665 according to my paperwork and add an extra hour would be like $760. he kept telling us when I was complaining about them messing around on the clock oh don't worry ill be nice to ya well work something out not more than like $1200~ im like $1200 oh no that's not going down! he kept reminding us yeah this is cash money.. told me we hold your stuff hostage till you pay whatever the bill is.. well lets just say when we got to the house he made his own bill and im sure he pocketed some of that money. made us pay for tolls that weren't what were agreed on in contract and bitched again that we needed to get them food at 1:00 in the morning which wasn't happening though we did give them money again to get food on their ride back. now here's where I really was livid. after they were paid it was like a big f$%^ you! no one listened to a word I said they played like they didn't speak English! all boxes were labelled and I specified that certain things needed to go where I wanted them because they were too heavy for me to pick up alone. they tossed all my stuff inside the front door and front office throwing boxes marked FRAGILE or VINTAGE like basketballs I kid you not! everything is BROKEN my wedding stuff broken a $100 wall art the frames chipped and cracked on the side. they failed to mention they broke not one but two dressers and hid them in a corner and said nothing! they didn't wanna take my dressers upstairs and my husband had to help carry the beds upstairs. im stuck now with no dishes no cups no glasses a bunch of collectible items that I wrapped in bubble wrap news paper and packing peanuts shattered into sand! my couch wont reassemble correctly my book cases have no hardware my wall unit that belongs in my bedroom is now in my living room and im over here breaking my back trying to lift things I paid them to lift! im heartbroken theres things that could never be replaced and they robbed me. the company says their bill doesn't match up with what we were charged.. that makes sense cuz they took money on the side saying it was the better deal so they robbed their employer as well. im sick over all this. after spending much more on a move than I was supposed to I need pretty much all new stuff that I don't have the money for. im aching something serious from lifting all this stuff and finding more and more broken things as I open boxes. who puts a 40lb box on top of a bag~ yeah they do everything in that bag which was toiletries crushed I had soap everywhere. I was crying hysterically because I kept telling them you have to bring stuff upstairs and they just ignored me talking bout their cold hungry and tired well that's not my fault! no one told them to be 3 hours late no one told them to bs half the day and the heat was on in the home they didn't care what I had to say since they had their money. look at the big picture here 6+ hours to load and they were done unloading in 1hr and some change! the math doesn't add up and neither do the hours or service. for all that I should have rented a box truck and hired two Mexicans from home depot id have less of a headache. never would I recommend these ppl to anyone. its not the girls who set things up, its the crooks they got working for them read more
