It's been a while since I've last gotten my hair cut here, but it's always on my mind to come back to write this review for Young and G Hair Studio. If you are particular about your hair and evenness/symmetry is important to you, G Hair Studio is the place to go. Even if you're not, and prefer a more loose and free look, I'm sure they will do a good job. I just prefer my hair to be as even as possible and I'm always satisfied with my experience here. Young takes time to section out every section of hair and make sure everything is even. I once had a terrible straight perm experience from another location and I called G Hair Studio crying to see if they can help fix my hair. They fit me in last minute and managed to cut and fix it way beyond my expectations. I then went on a two month training period away from home in an extremely professional setting and I got so many compliments on my bob, all thanks to Young and his team! Young also goes out of his way to remember his clients. For example, he knows that I like the ends of my hair thinned out a bit for a nice taper and after the first visit, I didn't have to ask for it again. He just remembers and cuts it the way I like. OC's best kept secret! This place is my new go to spot for my hair. I used to go to a location in LA, but I'm too lazy to drive that far now. I tried Jeunesse but it's crowded there, and I wasn't too satisfied with their lackluster service, so I took a chance with G style. As soon as you go in - very nice interior. Clean, modern, well lit. I dunno about you, but if I'm gonna be sitting somewhere for 3 hours it would be much more enjoyable if the surroundings were aesthetically pleasing. Haircut - I always watch my hair stylists while they cut my hair because I'm creepy and find it fascinating while they exercise their craft. Mr. Young was very precise and focused, during which he would randomly quip the funniest things while giving great hair tips. Man knows how to do business AND make his customers laugh. I learned so much while getting my hair did. I was very pleased with the service, and his beautiful assistant was so sweet, charming, and attentive as well. Since then, I have always returned to him, despite trying many other salons and stylists over the many years (Sometimes due to geographic necessity while I wasn't in the OC - San Diego, South Korea, sometimes because I felt adventurous). But no one can make your hair look as good for YOU than he can. Although it might not look EXACTLY like the reference photo that you give him (which is often impossible with all the filters that go on photos now), he absolutely makes it look the best for YOU and your face - not the model in the picture you showed him. PLEASE READ THIS REVIEW! First off, I have been going to Charlie for about 9 years and I have no complaints. He is a very talented hairstylist. This review is for the HORRIBLE older woman hair assistant. I wish I knew her name so I can give negative stars. I went to get my hair cut last week and afterwards she straightened my right side and Charlie straightened my left side. When I got home I noticed that my right side was VERY damaged. I gave it a few days to make sure I wasn't over exaggerating, but when I would try to brush my wet hair the right side was SO stringy that I couldn't even run a brush through it without my hair BREAKING!! She burned my hair so bad that I had to get my hair recut by Charlie. I was so upset and shocked that someone who supposedly works in hair doesn't even know how to straighten hair. That is the most basic skill!!! I remember her even mentioning to Charlie, "Is it supposed to burn like this?" EXCUSE ME?! Charlie even mentioned when I went back that my right side was severely burned. I was so upset that I was literally crying in the chair while he was RECUTTING my hair. Honestly, if I didn't have respect/history with Charlie I would have gone off on that lady. She should be glad that I didn't. She needs to get a new profession. I have been going to Young for as long as I can remember. He used to have a salon at a different location before closing it down due to moving out of state. I am SO glad he's back in Fullerton! Even though I live in downtown LA, I always make the drive out to G Hair Studio. No one cuts my hair better than he does. My hair grows out really nicely which is rare in my opinion. I've been to various places around Los Angeles and my hair usually grows out unevenly and looks really heavy. However, when getting haircuts here they grow out evenly. You can show a picture of the hairstyle you want and he'll be completely honest with you if it'll go with your face shape! He uses the BEST products and offers great shampoo and conditioner available to purchase. The mineral clay shampoo that i've been obsessed with lately is sulfate free which is extremely important for those of you who lose a lot of hair or have scalp dryness/itchiness/flaking problems like I do. Moroccan oil hair treatment is also another leave-in treatment which I love to use everyday for really soft healthy looking hair you can see and feel. THE HAIR COLOR SELECTION is AMAZING! Not a lot of salons offer the dyes used here because they are from Japan. Beautiful color and they write down exactly what mixtures they use so when you come in for a touch up, you get the exact tone you originally got! I've gotten basic one color dye and gotten an ombre before too ( please see photos for a picture of the finish of my ombre! ) He likes to mix colors so the finish color matches your skin tone. Welp, writing this on behalf of my mom. I've gotten my hair cut from the guy stylist. It was just a trim and he charged $45. Anyhow, so my mom has a short hair. So i suggested her to this place cuz she was looking for a hair stylist. I said the guy was aite but not that talented. Well, since she only wanted to trim her hair anyway, she said okay, ill go to him. She said he cut her bangs way too much that she looks ridiculous. Well, thats not it. He suggested her to use some hair product and insisted her to buy one of the conditioners or something. At the end, he charged her whopping $45 for cutting her short ass hair,, besides the bangs, he probably trimmed up to an inch of her hair max. Anyway, he asked how she is going to pay the tip, so she said to add the tip (20%) for the hair cut and charge her debit. She signed and came home, and saw the receipt. Okay, so the hair product she also purchased costed about 25, and he also added this (20%) to his tip. What kind of rip off is this? Why should she pay for his tip for that stupid hair product? I think it should be a common knowledge to know not to charge for the tip for any product purchase. Can u imagine tipping 20% to ur Target cashier after buying a conditioner? You know what, keep ur penny. We will never go back. read more

G Hair Studio will always be my go-to hair salon for haircuts because every cent is worth it here. Both Young and Micky do an amazing job at listening to their client's requests and delivering said request with the utmost attention to detail. I've been getting my hair cut with Micky for years and she always delivers perfectly in skill and design, even if I always bring a totally different and new style request to the table. I usually bring a reference picture I printed online hoping I could at least adopt 80% of the model's hairstyle but Micky mimics it perfectly. She's very open to communication and listens to your requests on how short or long you want your hair to be; otherwise, she negotiates with you because, sometimes, a professional's opinion turns out to be better than your own. I've had my hair cut done once with Young and he's also amazing at what he does. He stayed past the salon's closing hour because he wanted to make sure I left the salon completely satisfied with my haircut and dye, which cost me $115 without the top. He took extra care in making sure I was happy with the length and color, and also told me how to treat my hair at home because it was more on the frizzy and thick side. G Hair Studio is a bit on the pricey side compared to other hair salons in the area but I would definitely recommend this gem because every cent is worth it! Where should i start? I was referred to Sean from a friend. I booked an appt at 10am Friday to Sean for my wife's digital perm and a hair cut. Btw it costs $250, so i was thinking it better be good..meaning from customer service to quality of work.we arrived by 10am, our appt time. As soon as we entered the salon, it went downhill there. From the moment my wife and I walked in, we were not greeted. Our stylist was late about 10min...his name was Sean. So i texted him to ask where he was..i did not get a reply back.. he came about a minute after i sent the text..he was reading my text but completely ignored it. I told him on text that we were here and waiting...he came, did not even ask if it was us..and did not greet us at all. He just told my wife to sit down and started his work. His first impression was horrible, and including all employees had poor customer service. I waited 3 hrs straight on their chair and NOBODY asked me if i needed anything or even a cup of water. NOTHING. My wife felt tje same..kinda disrespected as a customer who was paying whopping $250 at a salon.. instead she told me that the stylist Sean guy was telling her that he gets tipped ALOT here...meaning he was pressuring her to tip him alot. He did not say certain percentage, but i was thinking atleast 20%..bcuz 15% is standard. WHY ARE THEY PRESSURING HER TO TIP HIM ALOT?? Tipping is NOT mandatory nor necessary. Its a common practice ONLY when a customer receive expected respect and service as a customer. I usually tip 18% for above avg customer service...i even tip up to 300%... (I took Uber ride that was $7 bucks for 15minutes...lady driver was sooo cool and nice...treated me like im her best friend or something..so i tipped her $20 cash..she was amazed and thankful) Nobody should ever prioritize and pressure customers to tip a certain % or $... I sat and waited for 4 hours, and nobody really cared. My wife felt kept paying attention, and she told me the employees ONLY GREETED REGULAR CUSTOMERS WHO TIPPED LIKE 20% OR MORE. that is wrong and this place should and will lose business very soon. I read an review who had similar bad experience below mine..and he also mentioned this place DEMANDS customers to tip 20%... SAD AND UNPROFESSIONAL!!! The whole process took about 4.5 hours for her digital perm + cut. Normally i tip 18%...i tipped them $0... ZERO. Smack in their face! Told them their customer service was WORST EVER. They need to learn from the bottom and start with the proper customer service. Greet customers, have a good convo/chat, ask if they need anything (even once), and NEVER MENTION HOW MUCH YOU NEED TP BE TIPPED. I pray this is a wake up call for them. I like her because I can ask her to do anything to my hair and she'll pretty much do it exactly as I expect. How in the world has this place gotten five star reviews? Beauty school drop out, go back to high school. Yesterday was strike 3. I should not have gone back given my previous experiences, but they do use decent products and they never had problems darkening my hair. WELL I hoped to tone down my highlights and left the salon yesterday with GREEN hair. They knew it was green. In fact, they TOLD me it was green. But they just let me walk out that way saying if I shampooed it five times it won't be green anymore. Well, I shampooed it 8 times and it's still green! I went to work with green hair! Then when I called them this morning, they said it'll be green for at least a week. WTF?! Strike 2. I went there April fools day. I asked the guy to cut off an inch. He said ok, one inch. He cut off six. Not exaggerating. Pictures of my long long hair chopped to a short shoulder length prove it. I forgave him for that and let it slide only because short hair is in now and it didn't look bad. Maybe it was an April fools joke. Strike 1. I tried to have highlights done there one time last year. When they finished and tried to style my hair the ends were gummy and stretchy! I walked in with normal hair and there they were, every person with a nervous panicked expression on their face trying to brush out and blow dry my troll fraggle rock breaking hair. When I asked if they're done while they were blow drying my nappy mess, they said yes. What?!? I was like "but my hair is all scraggly and gummy!" They told me to blow dry it extensively like they were struggling to do every morning. I said hell no! And they offered at that point to "fix" it by giving me a keratin treatment, and then took the liberty to say my hair cannot tolerate highlights. So unprofessional how they tried to cover up their mistakes and shove me out the door. Needless to say six months later I went to Annie Trang in Brea for highlights which she did magically well on "un-highlightable hair". How in the world did this place get 5 star reviews?? I'm going back tonight for them to get the green out, hopefully. But what a nightmare! read more

Went in for the first time today (Saturday) and was serviced by Young Kim. The man is an artistic genius!! I came in thinking I was just going to leave with a basic guys clean cut haircut that I've always been getting. Nothing too fancy. My hair is naturally really curly, so i didn't have a lot of options (or so I thought). Young really took his time to explain the A-Z about hair maintenance, styles which would bring out your face, and took the time to teach me how to do each style . I came out looking 5+ years younger! If you're a guy then ask for Young, he will definitely take care of you and make you feel coooooool once your'e done with your cut. 5 Stars easy for this place.
