I don't usually leave reviews, but I really wanted to write one for Kaylee because she deserves it. I'm very picky and indecisive when it comes to my hair, especially with layered cuts, but she really took the time to listen to what I wanted and understood exactly what I meant. That alone made such a big difference for me. She's very detail-oriented and careful with every step, and you can tell she doesn't rush. She checks everything as she goes and makes sure the final result looks right from every angle. My hair turned out exactly how I wanted. I felt completely at ease the whole time, which is rare for me when getting a haircut. She's also very calm and easy to talk to, which made the whole experience really comfortable. You can tell she genuinely cares about her clients and takes pride in her work. I'll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great stylist. read more

My whole family followed Judy here. She was previously at Elle and now she moved here recently. She cuts my baby boys hair and husbands hair, and she is so talented. I took him to a new stylist at Elle after Judy left and she butchered his hair so bad loll so I went on a mission to find her! I don't write reviews often, but hoping to help her build her clientele because she is so good. My DH is crazy picky about his hair and he has a hard time finding someone he likes. After finding Judy and going to her this year, he was so upset when Judy left Elle and the previous salon wouldn't say where, so I went deep diving the internet and found her! She cuts my 2yo boys hair soo well. She is also so sweet and great with babies. So patient and has a quick hand, so she doesn't make mistakes even when they move. Also my toddler remembered from the previous salon that they gave him a lollipop after his haircut was finished, but this one didn't have any so I told him they ran out. But the Judy was so nice and went back, and remembered some lollipops from her bag and gave him some!! he was overjoyed loll It's so hard to find a good place to take baby boys, and I'm so glad I found her again and will be her forever customer. Also, cost is very reasonable for kids and men's cuts and it's worth it for all that's included. For women, it's on the lower end pricing for a Korean salon. I've only had Judy cut my hair, but everyone is super kind and frequently do the hair washing even if they're not your cutter which helps keep things quick. Judy herself has never disappointed me and I've always appreciated her willingness to suggest alterations to me that I end up enjoying. This has been my husband's and my go-to salon for over 10 years. I've known Mr. Lee, the owner, since before he even opened this salon, back when he worked at another place, and I've been getting my hair done by him ever since. Every time we come, all the staff are so welcoming and friendly. They always offer coffee or tea, and even the shampoo comes with a relaxing massage--the service is truly exceptional. Mr. Lee is especially professional. Even if I only give a vague idea of what I want, he knows exactly how to style it in a way that suits my face and overall look. Came here for a digital perm with Myoung Lee. This man is amazing. I absolutely love my digital perm !! I let him decide on the size and fullness of my curls and he chose a perfectly natural looking luscious bouncy curl. I keep getting compliments on my hair everywhere I go! LA area just doesn't work for me because I have to work Mon-Fri and traffic is insane these days. Plus, their cost is extremely high compared to the quality of haircuts I would get. I could never settle down to one stylist and have been moving around forever. I found Judy at another hair salon in OC & immediately knew she was the one I will be going back. Very efficiently run Korean hair salon. You need to call to make an appointment. My stylist, just after coming in once, remembers what I want and always offers different looks. She reads the room/social cues if to make small talk or not so it's very helpful if you're not in the mood to talk. Very clean place. The whole staff is very nice. read more

I went 2 times. The first time I asked several times about having my hair shampooed but they did not shampoo it. I showed the stylist who cut my hair a picture of me from years ago indicating that was basically the type of cut I wanted. Mostly she did a good job and it looked very well styled. However, I would have preferred it over the top of my ears and by my face as long as to the bottom of my ears. She cut that part way too short for my preference. I liked all the rest of the haircut. The second time, there was a lady who came about the time my shampoo was completed, and this lady was waiting for the stylist who was cutting my hair. The stylist did not remember either of us white ladies who had each seen her 2 months ago. Really? Just how many short older white ladies with large straw hats does she see? At a any rate, she rushed my haircut and did not do a good job at all. It came out looking like two different people had cut each side of my hair. It was a bit too long in the back and she did not clean it up like the first time which meant there were a few extra long hairs I had to cut myself. She went even shorter on the sides in front of my ears which I especially don't like. The front sides don't brush forward properly and don't match like they did last time. The left side is much shorter above the ear than the right side. The left side does not brush forward properly. If this had been my experience the first time I would never have gone back again. I did call and talk to the owner, Mr. Lee. He offered to not charge for my next haircut but after thinking about it, I am just going to try someone else at a different shop. My recommendation: If you don't speak Korean, don't go because some of the stylists don't understand English completely. read more

Mr Lee is the best at cutting hair. I've been with him for maybe 10 years. I've tried different people in between depending on where I live, but I always come back to Mr Lee. No one can cut my hair like he does. I have long thick hair and need a lot of layers to keep it light, bouncy. I give him very little direction and just a general idea, and he takes it and runs with it to match my face the best. He will also tell me if what I want will not match my face and overall look. My 13 year-old was in desperate need of a haircut. I've always had great luck with Korean salons, so I yelped what was near me. It turns out Salon Boba is in the adorable Shopping Center in Fullerton that I'd stumbled upon months earlier & loved! First, there's a parking lot in the back... If you can't find parking out in front, just drive around the shop & you'll find it easily! The salon was what I would expect from any K-town beauty box: modern, clean, slightly trendy (but with a minimalistic flair)! Service at the front desk was super friendly! We were walk-ins on a busy Saturday but only waited about 5 minutes. Lots of seats if you're waiting for someone, along with a variety of coffee/teas. Shampoo was about 15 minutes long & my daughter swore it was the best she's ever had (lol)! My stylist had limited English, but did EXACTLY what I asked for and really took her time to make sure everything was perfect. The cut included blow dry & styling. 11/23/18 It was my first time visiting this salon, recommended by a friend. I went in without knowing what I exactly wanted in a style. Mr. Lee was the stylist that took care of me and he got me the look that I was looking for. I ended up getting C curl done which is combinations of straightening the hair and give C curl shape on the bottom of the hair. The staff was very nice and he did a great job! This review is strictly based on two haircuts I received from two different stylist. Both had great customer service but talents were not equal. The first person I had who did my hair was a man named Won. He did a fantastic job when I first visited last year. He listened to what I wanted and also made recommendation as to what would work better for my head shape and features. If I had him again, I would have definitely given this place 5 stars. The second person I had was a woman. She was very friendly but the final product of my cut looked as though she had very little experience in cutting hair and I actually had some people ask if I ended up cutting my own hair at home (this is obviously a bad sign). The good thing is, she does listen to what type of cut you ask for but she doesn't try to accentuate your good features like the previous person who cut my hair or give suggestions. My recommendation is if you like a stylist at this place, stick with that person since it is obvious the talents differ. read more

Came for the first time due to a family friend recommendation. I have never gotten such a terrible haircut in my life... I showed a picture that had a simple cut of very little layers and trimming my side bangs and hairstylist said they understood. NONE of my hair is symmetrical and has some of the choppiest cuts I've ever seen. My hair wasn't even the same length NOR volume on either sides. I came out with literally two different styles on my head. I gave the benefit of the doubt because I have a lot of hair and it USED TO BE long so when I got my hair cut, I just let it be because I trusted them. But they absolutely butchered it. Clearly went into my hair just cutting without thinking at all. They curled my hair to hide it and it looked somewhat decent at the moment though I could tell that it was still really asymmetrical. But then I went home to take a shower because I had to check. I can't even put my hair down without seeing how messed up it is. My god, the literal volume of my hair is not even the same anywhere that I CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I do NOT even want to go back to repair my hair because god almighty, my hair is horrendous. I am going back to my usual hairstylist and thinking of getting extensions for the first time in my life. I'm sure the salon has great hairstylists from the other reviews, but that one person, you seemed nice and maybe this was a one time thing, but I needed to write something. Please be more careful next time. Just genuinely look at my hair in the picture. What is this, I know hair grows back, but I thought I was going to cry. Atmosphere Modern, clean, trendy! Not packed with people, but not empty. The perfect pace for a rainy Tuesday afternoon. Appointment :) I was able to get an appointment for the next day with Lucy! Process You are greeted right away by friendly staff! They lead you to a room where you can put on a robe to protect your clothes and hang up your jacket/coat. I love that they offer this! They offer to place your purse in a cubby so that you don't need to carry it around the entire time. Then comes the hair washing, which was so relaxing. They place a folded towel on your face to protect you from any water splatter that might happen. Then they provide a gentle neck and head massage which made me want to fall asleep. You are then lead over to your stylist's chair, ready and prepped for the next step! Service Let me start off by saying this, everyone here is so friendly and nice!! Now, let's talk about my haircut. Per fellow Yelpers' recommendation, I decided to try Lucy. I showed her two pictures that generalize what I wanted (fringe/side bangs, plus cutting a few inches off). She is so detailed! She asked if the cut should be thicker or thinner (more layers versus little layers) and only cut a tiny section to show me and get my approval before continuing with the cut. Each cut she made, you can tell was very technical and carefully chosen. I LOVE the final result and will definitely be coming back (you should come too)!!! Location Salon Bona is located in the line of stores directly in front of Barnes and Nobles. The plaza itself is quite large so it can be hard to find if you don't know this in advance. Parking in front of that line of stores can be limited, but don't worry! You can just park anywhere on either side (massive plaza after all) and just walk around the stores. It's located right next to Ono Hawaiian BBQ, so I'd recommend parking behind that area to minimize walking. read more

Mr Lee left a salon in Torrance and opened his own salon in Fullerton. I tried to go to a few other places that were local because I didn't make the drive. Well, guess what? After a few misses between my Mom, my daughter and I we decided to make the journey to Fullerton. We were not disappointed. The drive from Culver City wasn't too bad and of course Mr Lee made it more than worth it. Decor: Very modern with clean lines everywhere. Little coffee/charging area in the back. Cleanliness: Clean everywhere! Bathroom, air filter cleaners, floors were immaculate Vibe: Everyone was genuinely nice and professional. Cut: My Mom, 8 year old daughter and I came out feeling pretty fabulous! Best shampoo/condition massage too. Mr. Lee outdid himself as always. I used to love this place and always bring my husband for his haircut. But, it was so disappointing that the female hair dresser who did my hair today gave me an rude attitude and didn't give a thing about customer services. It was the first time to meet her but as soon as she saw me, she said "go to the dress room and get changed" with a very irritated voice. Then she was like "You need to remove bobby pins and hair band" speaking in commanding tone. I was trying to stay calm until she left me in the middle of the trimming my hair for over 20 min! She even didn't finish my hair cut, it was only half way done, then moved on to the next customer. She said it's worthy to wait for getting service from her because the result would be fabulous. Unfortunately, I really don't think that way. I got the WORST BANG in my whole life and I really don't have any single idea how to take care of this unwanted hair do. Even, she didn't brush my face after haircut. This my face after my hair cut. Seriously, what kind of customer services it is? This is extremely disappointing moment. I needed an updo for a wedding on the day of. I was so happy I walked to this place. Right away I was greeted by Mr Lee. I showed him the picture of what I wanted and he said they could do it. I needed to be in my way to the wedding a few hours later, but they were able to accommodate me with someone so I wouldn't be late to the reception. Sue worked on my hair. I showed her two pictures of what I sort of wanted and she got busy with me. It took a little over an hour and I loved the end product. Very nice and attentive people. I have lived all over the place from New York to Boston to DC, but nobody can cut hair like Mr. Lee. I initially contacted them through yelp for an appt inquiring about price and availability and they were pretty quick to respond. Price was fair ~ I got a hair cut and all over color. Jaewon was my stylist and he was awesome! Super attentive to your comfort level, he asked a lot of good questions to ensure you're satisfied with the length and texture while he was cutting and told me to let him know at any time to adjust , I was happy with his suggestions and am glad I told him to give me some open creativity, if he felt something might look better on me. Take it from the girl who always spent hundreds of dollars to get keratin treatments every couple months, is super sensitive to different hair products, and basically a hairdresser's worst nightmare.
