Have the following issues with Rick's Air Conditioning and Heating:…read more1. Had a burnt smell in my attic air conditioning unit. A fire concern. Rick did not diagnose the issue correctly. He cut into my duct work and replaced an expensive fan motor that he had in stock in his home. Rick realized after the installation it was really just a $10 burnt out service switch that is available at any box store and only takes 10 minutes to replace. I requested Rick replace it and he told me to get an electrician and charged me $600 for the motor. He left me the perfectly working motor he just replaced. 2. Rick ran high and low pressure air compressor lines 20 feet on the outside of my home. I asked Rick to install "line-hide" covers over the insulated copper lines. Rick told me to get rain gutter to put over the lines and do it myself. The line insulation had to be replace by Rick years later for hundreds of dollars labor because he did not install the line-hide covers as originally requested. The sun ruined the insulation because the line hides were not installed. 3. Rick has a service van that one can fill the oil and check the gas. I ask Rick to not park it on my white concrete driveway as his van leaks allot of oil. Rick ignores this request. I spend hours trying to get the oil stains off my driveway. 4. I asked Rick to walk around my garage versus though it as he had his tool belt on and I was concerned Rick would scratch my new car. Rick ignored my request and scratched the paint on my new car as he walked past it. It would only take Rick an extra 30 seconds to walk around my garage versus though it. Rick has allot of knowledge of air conditioning and heating. His customer service and fairness can improve.

I got Roger to replace my entire system (furnace and AC) plus duct work. We got quotes from other…read morecompanies and Roger's quote was around the same, but here's what the other quotes didn't include: * a better AC system * new duct work * larger ducts for a few rooms that needed them * fancy 4 inch filter (that lasts 6-12 months) * better parts and labor warranty And the job really only took around 5 hours or so. So....I feel pretty comfortable always going with Roger now. UPDATE: I had an issue with my system because hair from my three dogs had clogged up the filter faster than expected. Roger came by and explained what happened and what I need to do to prevent that happening in the future. I appreciated the explanation instead of fixing it and leaving.

Gary was very professional and said my property manager had requested a copy of the bid but that he would not send it to them without my permission. If I ever again have to pay someone $20,000 to dig a hole under my house from front to back,…read morereplace all the pipes, and refill that hole without damaging the foundation, there's no doubt that someone will be Gary Taff. Gary had an uphill battle with our plumbing. He finished digging the tunnel the day before that freak cold/ice/rain snap at the end of February. By the time that finally ended, the tunnel had filled to the top with rainwater and had to be pumped out and dried before they could even start working. Once all that was done, it took him only two days to replace every single bit of our horizontal plumbing lines, which is about 10x faster than my neighbor's contractor did the same job. He uses a foundation crew for the tunnel job, especially the backfilling part, because he says that's your best bet for a solid, unaltered foundation at the end of the day. Said foundation crew are also apparently not just pros at digging/filling holes, but also at cleaning up after themselves. We left one morning for work with piles of dirt as tall as the house at the front and the back of house. We came back at the end of that day and they had repaved the sidewalk they'd jackhammered to get in, cleaned every single bit of dirt off our property save the pile we asked them to save so we could use it in gardening, and they'd even put our potted plants back where they'd found them. Literally anything that goes wrong in our house that I can justify as being even kind of related to plumbing will end in a call to Gary because he's the plumbing hero that Austin deserves.

I would have never known if I tried to fix this myself. I am always hesitant about calling a company to come do work because even the smallest little thing would cost me a few hundred dollars at least. As John was fixing and replacing things, he would also give little informational tidbits and explain what things were and what he was doing along the way. I can't say I didn't learn anything because I did pick up a few things here and there. He was very knowledgeable and definitely knew what he was doing. In the end, I would highly recommend John for all your HVAC needs. He does everything carefully and professionally at a VERY reasonable price.

Being held captive in a hot house with the still Texas Summer heat is brutal and we all know that is putting it mildly. I want to respond to the Nay-sayers on a few posts here. First of all, the new Operations Manager is Barbara and this woman is AMAZING! Don't have any experience with the former lady. WOW!!! Talk about taking ownership and taking it personal about making sure my HWA warranty wasn't lost in the shuffle of the Home Warranty of America company holding myself, and family hostage in a sweltering home in the summer. Let's just say HWA delays lasted 27 days nearly the entire month of May. It was getting hot. Thank God I live in an established neighborhood with many extensive trees that cast a ton of shade or it would have been UGLY!!! Thank God for Barbara who took calls on weekends, texted me regularly throught out the day, took her laptop to her child's baseball game to try and submit emails to HWA about my claim after her defined work hours. Yes we talked on the phone whilst she was at her daughter's softball game. Talk about comittment. She only put the phone down when he daughter was at bat. Talk about committment. She got on base by the way. Barbara took this situation very seriously, She escalated calls emails to Directors and Supervisors and was very communicative along the way. We stayed on hold with HWA so much it literally cost me hours of my time per week to try and keep them on their toes. Please understand that if you have issues with the delay in working with HWA claims around cooling concerns... IT"S NOT Cool Masters fault. I witnessed the debaucle first hand after like my own personal 5th and not final time calling ( seriously lost count) into the Authorization department. During this call with HWA, I was told there was a delay from the Authorization Department of 5-7 mins. That delay really equated to an hour and 10 minute way. Mind you this was after a 57 minute on hold wait time the day prior and I was just calling to check the status. The HWA program is rampant with lack of ownership of any of their employees to resolve anything. Their idea of help is passing an email and hoping someone reads it and then decide to resolve, authorize or pass the buck. It's a vicious cycle. I lost count as to how many time Barbara of Cool Masters and myself lost time and lost days waiting for authorizations for replacement parts to be released at the authorized part location for us to be installed. Their bumbling and ineptitude literally cost me and my honey about $3000 in lost wages ( I'm in finance and he's a Union Electrician so it cost us extra money) in awaiting appointments for them to release installers with the appropriate unit to be released. During this time Barbara kept up her end of the deal and then some. She communicated with me daily if not more than once a day to lay status of my claim and shared with me that sadly this is the same fate for many others. Unfortunately, not many as proactive, tenacious and persistent as I. I made it my mission for myself to engage the company and see the man truly behind the curtain at HWA. Sadly it was worst than Oz as no one ever took responsibility. Until the word lawsuit was mentioned. What they didn't know was I was going to be an attorney prior to doing what I do now and I actually knew what my contract meant as far as their obligations to me. So please, don't blame Cool Masters for the flawed nature of a horrible Home Warranty Program. Barbara and team are great. You just may want to be forewarned about the possibility of the madness that can ensue when laying claim with HWA. By the way, I promised Barbara a bottle of wine. You get a bunch of mad respect when you have to go to battle with someone for about a month's time when dealing with HWA.

We called our home warranty department to come out and take a look and they told us that the coil was old and rusted and whoever put the freon in should not have done so with the coil in this condition. Coolmasters invoiced my mother $275 anyway, and when I asked for the invoice to be voided, they refused. As someone who spent over $14K with them on two brand new units 3 years ago, they just lost me as a customer, forever. Over $275. Way to go, Coolmasters...
