Bottom line -- it's clear these people care about their business & their patrons, which is not something you are going to get at a large impersonal salon. Anyone can trim ends and burn your hair straight. Developing a rapport with me, understanding how my hair behaves naturally -- and playing to its strengths, giving me AMAZING color that gives my hair depth and light that no-one can tell is not mine, and making sure my hair always looks 'healthy'.... that takes true professional skill and talent. Using Aveda products, these stylists look to bring out the best in your natural hair -- and do not do excessive styling -- which is fine with me. The salon is thoughtfully decorated and was giving boho vibes. Upon check-in, they asked if I parked in the garage since they have a parking validation QR code, and if I wanted anything to drink. I was surprised they offered wine, and the white wine I got was the perfect level of sweetness for me. After being seated, Abby came over and started our consultation, asking me what I had in mind and gave me recommendations on my bangs. I have thin, flat hair, so we went with a long layered hairstyle with curtain bangs. Afterwards, she walked me to the back to the shampoo area. Like everyone else, I loved the shampoo area--it's dark green and moody with chill music and fake plants hanging from the ceiling, so you feel like you're laying in nature. It's super tranquil, especially when the scalp massage starts. I liked the Davines products they used; my scalp had a light tingling sensation and felt really clean, and the all-in-one milk made my hair smell so good. We walked back to the chair and she confirmed the length before she started cutting away. She took her time, making sure both sides were even. When she was close to finishing, she asked me how I wanted my hair styled. I went with the blowout since it was quicker and it looked like the reference pictures I showed her. Abby knows how to work a round brush with the Dyson blow dryer and really accentuated all the layers she gave me. It was pouring when I was done with my haircut, so they were nice enough to let me out through the back door that leads to the garage where my husband picked me up. What I left with was a nightmare--my hair chopped drastically short, front above my jawline, sides straight, and nothing like the photos. When I pointed this out, she casually said it would "look like the pictures in 8 weeks." I was shocked and humiliated. During the haircut, she even told me twice not to cross my legs--something I've never experienced at any salon. I asked to switch stylists, and was told I'd have to pay extra, even though the issue was not my fault. Ruby then claimed that because I agreed to a graduation in the back--which she suggested--she had to ignore my other requests. I cried in my car on the way home, devastated. $160+tax for a ruined haircut and a traumatizing experience. I can only hope no one else has to go through this. Without exaggeration, this was the worst salon experience of my life.
