This restaurant came highly recommended by friends who have had great experiences here, so I thought I would give it a shot for my birthday dinner. Our party of three arrived and was seated promptly. The server was friendly in greeting us, and our drinks arrived promptly. We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs (also highly recommended) and two orders of the chicken parmesan. The entrees did not come with salads, so we ordered one house salad and two caesar side salads. First, let me say that they entrees were delicious. The pasta was fresh and tender, and the sauce was very savory with a hint of sweetness. The meatballs were packed with subtle flavor and very dense. The chicken parmesan was golden brown and pan fried, with tasty breading. I ate half of one of the orders for dinner the following night and it held up well. Beyond the entrees, things fell completely apart, and I can't see myself returning because of the following issues. 1. The salad was not fresh and had wilted, brown lettuce in it. Another previous reviewer criticized the "bag salad" approach and I would have to agree with this. Ideally, a good caesar salad is very fresh with lots of green leafy romaine lettuce. Over half of these salads consisted of the crunchy white hearts and there was very little leafy green. The salad consisted of the poor quality lettuce, dressing, and croutons. There was no cheese on the salad as is typical and there was no access to freshly ground pepper. There were standard pepper shakers on the tables, but nothing makes a salad pop like freshly ground black pepper. It's an extraordinarily small investment on the part of a restaurant to offer this. Even if you don't have the pepper mills on the tables, you can have one for the entire restaurant and the server can offer that. The fact that we had to pay for these salads because they were not included with the entrees (the entrees were between $14-$15 each and the salads were around $4.50 each) made me expect that they would be worth paying for. Sadly, I've had better salads at fast food drive-thru. 2. The garlic bread was overcooked, tough and chewy, and appeared to have come out of a frozen box. At good Italian restaurants, I'm used to fresh bread either made in-house or sourced from a local bakery. This appeared to be sourced at a local food supply warehouse. And it would have been OK if the restaurant weren't attempting to be higher-end. I expected more, but what we had still should have been cooked properly. I believe this may have been held in an oven or reheated, causing the tough, chewy texture. 3. Upon receiving the check, there was an additional alcoholic beverage that no one at the table had ordered. When I asked the server about it, she said that she had accidentally rung it in and had asked the manager to delete it from the bill. Obviously this hadn't happened. She apologized and corrected it, and I completely understand humans aren't perfect and make mistakes. However, in this case, she knew she had made a mistake and trusted that her manager had corrected it, but didn't check to make sure that had happened. The total including tax and tip was over $100. This included three alcoholic drinks, three waters, three entrees, three salads. If the food had been exceptional, I would feel that it had been a good value. However, only the entrees were solid. This was not enough to justify the cost and not enough to justify a return visit. Whoever was in charge of the salads and garlic bread was not exercising quality control over their job and both server and manager made mistakes that we had to ask to have corrected. I had read in other reviews that the owner frequently circulates around the dining room. I saw him near the kitchen door at one point during the evening, but sadly he did not make his way around the dining room while we were there. Had he asked me how my dinner was, I would have told him. Normally, I would have asked to speak to him about the food quality issues. However, as it was my birthday dinner and we had a guest with us, I did not want to engage in any kind of interaction that was not positive in nature and risk making my birthday any less enjoyable. I do believe in always letting restaurants know both when I have received excellent food and service and when I have not. Normally, this would have happened immediately but in this case, I am doing it the following day. I try to always eat at locally-owned, independent restaurants to support local businesses. read more

I love eating at Gabby's and getting Carryout from Gabby's!! I have lived near by for the last 5 years and sometimes walk or ride my bike there with my son and or family and friends. The bar area is a nice place to hang out with friends and have a drink and eat if you like. Prices are very reasonable. Great kids selection and the entire staff is super nice and most of the staff seems to have been working there for quite some time. The fish sandwich is beyond yummy!! Also they have great burgers, lasagna and eggplant parm. I love the spinach chicken salad and there are quite a few choices for people watching their calories. No problem in subbing out fries or chips for veggies either :) The owner Dino is almost always around and always says hello. You always get the sense of community when you eat at Gabby's. This place is a staple to the Wyoming community and anyone stopping by will love it as much as we do :) read more

I heard nothing but good things about this place. I was excited to try them. We went around 4. Terrible experience. We were the only ones in there. We weren't greeted. The server was awkward and rude. Her attention definitely wasn't on us. Then the other waitress seemed to be so high off something it was ridiculous. (Yes high I'm sure) My order came out wrong. When I asked her to return it and that it was wrong she asked me (rudely)was I sure? Umm yea I don't like my lamb rare while expecting. We had to ask for refills. We had to look for her to visit our table for simple things. The wings were really good though. My burger was burned and I was just over it. Very memorable experience and not in a good way. Not to mention that a couple streets over there was a fatal shooting at the same exact time we were there. Streets blocked and crime scene trucks everywhere.Later read about it on the news. I called Gabby's Café last night to place a carry out order. It was 8pm last Saturday night. The first time I called I went to a voicemail message after 10 rings stating I couldn't leave a message. I thought the phone was maybe not working. The second time I called it rang 4 times and then I was disconnected as if someone picked up the phone and hung it up again. As a fellow food service/hospitality worker I couldn't believe my ears! I was so mad I just went to Skyline up the street. Their prices are way above average for what you get but it is convenient for me to order food from there. So needless to say I felt as if they didn't need my business on a busy Saturday night. I guess I'll just have to drive somewhere else when I want to place a carry out order. read more

Great pizza. My wife likes the salmon. I love the wings. The kids are CRAZY about the pizza. Very nice family atmosphere. We have been when they have a folk trio who are excellent. Went there on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. We were greeted by the host, a sever, and the owner upon entering. The food was delicious, service was fast, the owner walked to each table/booth and chatted us all up, and the music that was playing was at the perfect level. Really enjoyed our visit at Gabby's café will go back. The server was great his name was Justin. The owner Dino came to our table and was very gracious and ask us how our meal was and invited us to his other restaurant up the street. Very nice experience will go back. We had the Capone pizza it was great and beer. For dessert we had the carrot cake with ice cream it was enough to feed two. LOVE this place... great little neighborhood restaurant. They are always so nice and the fish sandwich is AMAZING... also, about everything else I have had has been amazing as well.... lasagna, burgers, saratoga chips, pizza, eggplant parm., and the Kids menu is great. My son can make his own pizza and then they bake it. GREAT place :) Quaint / nice bar area too. Some live entertainment here and there. I would only ask that they try to keep the kids in the dining room area vs the bar area. I have been there a couple times where kids are seated in the bar seating area....but in NO WAY is this a deal breaker to returning to Gabby's. They ROCK. read more

Popped in here for the first time and wasn't too impressed and left hungry. I got the lasagna which was pretty good but could use some more sauce. The most disappointing thing was that my side of garlic bread came out not only after receiving the lasagna but it was also still frozen in the center. dino is the reason for gabby's. as the owner, he is so thoughtful and takes the time to say hi to all the patrons (he is also known for supporting the WHS school system and athletic groups). i have enjoyed every meal i've ever had here - although it sometimes feels a bit pricy, you realize that the food was fantastic and well worth it. i recommend the parmesan encrusted salmon and am also a huge fan of their cobb salad. oh and of course, all of their pizzas! read more

Overpriced and overrated food. Ordered a 515 cobb like salad which I paid $12.50 for. It had iceberg lettuce, tomatoes at varying levels of ripeness, hidden valley ranch dressing, grated cheese from a bag, and maybe 2 ounces of chicken. I ate here for lunch and the burgers were awesome! The service was a little slow but not bad. The price was a little on the high side, about $9 each for burgers and potato skins. The dinner prices looked to be a bit higher but if the food is of the same quality I would definitely say its worth it. read more

Worst service yet. Took far too long to get wait service to the table. Once drinks were ordered waited 10 minutes to order meal. Ordered spinach salad with hot bacon dressing. They brought a house salad with mustard dressing. I was told by the wait staff that they discontinued the spinach salad. I asked why it was on the menu and was told that they had not had time to get new menus printed. No apologies from anyone. Will not return. read more

I dined in this restaurant the Friday after Thanksgiving that night I developed severe food poisoning or result of eating in this restaurant. Due to the excessive of my illness I was force to visit the emergency room. I contact the restaurant owner. So far doesn't look they will be taking responsibility of the charge occurred. If some one else have ate in this restaurant and developed Food Poison, please speak out. For sure I will not be eating there anymore and I will not recommend the restaurant at all. read more

I don't know how this place is so far in Cincinnati magazine's burger madness. never heard of this place before but it beat some of my favorite burger places so decided try it out tonight. The burger was expensive $11.75 and very tough and dry overcooked it was not good not even in top 20 of cincy burger joints. The beer selection was good and other foods pizza and some italian dishes looked great will try them the next time but will not be getting a burger there again. read more

After having a fairly pleasant experience back in April we decided to take our visiting family here for dinner on Sunday evening about 6:30. There were diners here and there but the place was mostly empty. Orders ranging from dinner salads to burgers to fish took over an hour to be served. We requested the food for 2 small children be brought out before the dinners but that didn't happen. We ordered water and drinks but only half the table was served water. At no time were water glasses refilled nor were we asked if we would like refills on beer and other alcoholic beverages. Our 8 year old actually called out to the server as he walked by ignoring us to ask if she could have another milk. Not taking the hint that maybe the rest of us would like another beverage, the milk was placed in front of the closest person to the end of the table as the server hightailed away., There was 100% agreement that the service from the moment we sat down, and throughout the meal, was absent, neglectful and appalling. Most of the food was ok. But the 'famous' fish dinner was disgusting. The fish was dripping in oil and had a thick batter rather than a thin, tasty, lightly sautéed one. The green beans were very dark, limp, overcooked, soggy, cold and apparently came out of a freezer bag. The mashed potatoes were cold, dried out and lumpy, obviously scrapped from the bottom of a pot after aging in it all day. The fish and chips were terrible. The fish was overly coated in a thick greasy batter, the fries were limp and greasy. Saratoga chips were awful, cold, hard, dry and overly salted. The people eating fish paid for it all night with indigestion, heartburn and nausea. Overall it was a embarrassing uncomfortable meal for those of us who suggested this place. I have no idea what happened here, but Gabby's is off the list. There's no need to patronize a no service, awful food place that makes people sick. Shame on Gabby's, we really expected more. read more

I have eaten here before and enjoyed it - today was horrible. Our server started out friendly enough and we both made new choices for lunch. I ordered the Rueben. When it came, no sauerkraut, if there was thousand island dressing - I could not see or taste it. I flagged down another server and asked for sauerkraut (this was before I realized there was no dressing). He did not bring me sauerkraut - he sent my server over to me whom I had to make my request again. Took quite a bit of time for her to return with a small plate with a tablespoon's worth of kraut - which had no flavor any way. The roasted veggie pizza was a limp, brown crusted mess - no flavor. Our server came back to give us our checks and we requested a box (I took 2 bites out of the sandwich and decided to take it home to give the dog the corned beef). She never asked how things were. I don't mind paying $10 for lunch if it's edible, but I don't think I'll go back to Gabby's in the near future.... read more
