Unfortunately, I was lead to believe this was going to be good food with a 4.6 on yelp but I was sorely mistaken. The location seems clean and sanitary but the meat they gave us was extremely disappointing. I ordered the Plato de Cena which is basically meat, rice, beans with a salad. I ordered carne asada with it and I'm not sure what part of the cow that was but it was disgusting. I had picked the location so I was stuck eating it. After drowning it in salsa it was actually eatable. My kids had cheese quesadillas and side of rice. They seem to enjoy it so no complains there. Unfortunately for the rest of us the meat choice was really bad and made it really hard to eat the food. I did 2 stars bc the service was nice and it seems like a really clean area. read more

My review is really more of a 3.5, but we don't have that option on Yelp. The service at Gabby's is solid. Super friendly staff. The location is nice. About a couple of miles off the 5 that is somewhat secluded, but not. Not a small establishment, but with outdoor seating and indoor seating with nice decor, it was a nice break from the hours of driving north or driving south. The food, to me, was a bit of a mixed bag. The food itself was good, but some of the portions were a bit off. What I mean here is that the tacos were supplanted with too much meat. Now, that's a good problem to have, but an over abundance of meat while lacking the onions and cilantro makes the ratio off and it doesn't feel right at that point. The chicken was shredded and dry, but the other meats were done rather well. read more

It's a Mexican restaurant with really good food with freshly made tortilla chips. I had the tostada, my wife had the nachos both just great.. The service was outstanding. Unfair to young kids but I'm working from experience. The ordering station is a window next to the kitchen. The menu is a couple of laminated sheets. There's enough to choose from for breakfast or lunch. I had the Seafood Enchiladas. It was good. Seemed like most of the shrimp were at one end of the Enchilada but it worked out. She had a Carnitas Chimichanga. She said that it did the job for her but wasn't anything spectacular. She appreciated that the deep-fry didn't turn the tortilla into a brick. The kids? Was driving through the area at a little after sunrise and looking for breakfast early the other morning and Gabby's was open so I pulled in, im sure glad I did. Its a large place with walk up counter service, the gentleman behind the counter was kind and gracious, took our orders and we grabbed a seat inside by a window. A few moments later, fresh coffee appeared. A really good cup of coffee - seriously, way better than I was expecting. It was truly appreciated that early in the morning. I ordered Huevos Rancheros and it did not disappoint. Everything was freshly made, the ranchero sauce spicy, sweet, tangy flavorful and obviously made right then as well, sitting on top of very good eggs, a fresh made tortilla with a side of refried beans and traditional rice. Friendly staff, a pretty good assortment of dishes on the menu...kind of an oasis in the area. It's a casual atmosphere, in a strange part of the country. But their good is solid...the cooks know what they're doing. I went real simple, just had a refreshing soda and a sandwich. But it was perfect for the timing. Outside of being one of the only places to eat for a while, it's also the only "non-franchise" places for even longer. We loved this restaurant because.... The prices were so reasonable. The food was authentic Mexican. The service was friendly, quick and efficient. Everything was delicious. It was so easy and close to get to. When we arrived we ordered at the counter inside. The menu had great choices. One option was that you could choose your dish and what to add to it like type of meat or shrimp. I chose a Taco Salad with beef. My husband had a Beef Quesadilla. Both were excellent. The waitress who brought over our orders, also brought us chips and spicy salsa. The chips were hot and crisp. Guests could sit comfortably inside or out. In a sea of fast food chains, gas stations, crappy homes, and beaten down businesses - comes "Gabby's", an oasis that's new, very clean, lovely outdoor dining, freshly paved parking lot (in the back). Worthy of a mile off the I-5 fwy, they open at 6am and have extended hours that give a much needed break long-ass drives. The menu has all the usual tacos, burritos, and enchiladas...but also features some lengua and other more authentic meats. It might also be the local "go to" for a Friday night to get loose, and a celebration spot for birthdays and anniversaries -- except they close at 8pm on Friday's, and 3pm on Saturday's, and closed Sunday's! read more

Stopped here for lunch after looking up places for lunch on our drive up the I-5. The reviews don't lie, the food here is amazing. Great prices. The chips and salsa were super fresh. I got the chile verde enchilada which tasted amazing and was super filling. It came with rice and beans. I especially loved the "salad" it was topped with (see attached pic). Fiancé got three tacos: lengua, beef, and pork and loved all of them. They also have a self serve taco bar which you can help yourself to.
