Wow! What a find! This is a classic little American diner. Right off the freeway, tucked behind a gas station/truck stop. I am so glad we decided to give Jose's a try! I had one of their burgers and fries. The patty was a homemade blend and delicious! The fries were good also! I wish I left room for dessert because they were offering a fresh applepie or cheesecake. Something to look forward to on my next visit! The server was so charming and attentive. She never let our sodas run dry and shared in the perfect amount of conversation with us. Breakfast!! A very nice menu and a lot of - day of the week specials. I ordered the standard, two eggs over medium, and the sausage patty came recommended highly because it was homemade, and it did not disappoint. I also had hashbrowns on the side which really tasted like they were homemade, freshly shredded potatoes - they weren't like the frozen kind that you get that's for sure!! This place seems like they do a lot of cooking from scratch which I really appreciate. My friend ordered the Denver omelette which was humongous, and she asked for salsa on the side, which was not a problem and she also had the hash brown potatoes. She ate half her meal and took the rest home. I ate my eggs and left half my sausage and gave the other half to my friend to take home. Nice crispy toast. The eggs were done perfectly fried as well as the sausage which was a little bit crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. It is a Saturday, and I noticed that Saturday special is ground beef enchiladas which I truly do enjoy I might have to go back there the next Saturday for lunch! The price point for the two of us was around $41 with a $10 tip. We did not order drinks that was just for our food, and they do offer a small discount for cash payments. We can't believe it has taken us so long to visit Jose's Country Kitchen. Wow! We will be back very soon! This unassuming restaurant is a hidden gem behind the truck stop. But don't let that deter you from visiting! We were both very impressed with our breakfasts. My partner had the Southern Breakfast. The homemade sausage patty was spectacular - so flavorful & moist! A real star! Perfect biscuits the size of a cat's head (!), succulent gravy, eggs cooked to perfection. I wasn't sure he'd be able to eat all of it given the generous portion size, but it was so delicious that he couldn't resist. I enjoyed my Sunrise Sandwich. The ham was perfect, eggs over hard - the best for inside a sandwich, cheese, on buttery toasted sourdough. I ordered my hash browns extra crispy and they were perfectly executed. This restaurant, which is essentially hidden behind a truck stop was amazing! It was a super pleasant surprise. The food was absolutely delicious and fresh. Really had that homemade feel. the hot chocolate came in a massive supersized mug and was topped with whipped cream and sprinkles. My wife was in heaven. We truly enjoyed this wonderful cafe, where I had the best carnitas I've ever eaten. Big thumbs up!! Definitely worth searching for if ur in the area. read more

Rating specifically for the biscuits and gravy this morning. If anybody knows Jose's biscuits and gravy you'll know what i am talking about. Still good not great used to be fresh made with cream and ground pork sausage. Peices of browned sausage suspended in thick white sausage gravy. Perfectly seasoned over 2- 4"x4" homemade fluffy biscuit. Now its yellow chicken gravy with 3x3 microwaved biscuit. Still about 10$ for two. Also if you want a sausage patty it is an additional $8.50. 3 stars is because it was still a solid plate of food. read more

We always seem to stop at the same eateries on our trips from the Bay Area to SoCal along 101. Today though ,while in my search in Local Favorites near Paso Robles, Jose's Country Kitchen caught my attention. Clean, comfortable, easy on and off from 101, we were very pleased with my choice. Greeted, seated and order taken within minutes. Breakfasts of machaca and eggs and hub's sausage and eggs were delicious generous portions. Outside dining is available. We'll be back! read more

The Food is excellent. The service has declined dramatically. This is one of our favorite restaurants, but the last two times we have been there it's taken an hour to order and get our food. The ambiance is truck stop diner. Bring cash if you don't want to pay 4% credit card fee. Avocado is a nice side but it's $2.50 and the last two visits the quantity on the side plate has gotten smaller and smaller. read more

We regularly get gas at the station next-door, and and stopped here on a whim. Great breakfast sandwich and chorizo w eggs. Really good breakfast potatoes and hashbrowns. Friendly and fast service. 4 1/2 stars. Stopped here for quick lunch based on their high ratings. Menu is vast, so something here for all tastes. Our foursome had a variety of sandwiches and all were great. For a truck stop diner we were pleasantly surprised. The waitress was attentive, friendly and checks back with us consistently even with the place 1/2 full. Our orders were accurate and very tasty. Tuna Melt, BLT, Club and French dip all with fries were all very good and well prepared. One of our group got a make your own omelette and it was very big and well prepared, came with crispy hash browns and toast. Bathroom was very clean and stocked for a roadside stop with heavy traffic. All in all, excellent off 101 RV stop and huge trailer parking. read more

The food is good but I don't eat here anymore for breakfast because I don't like margarine on my pancakes I like real butter. If you like margarine this is your place. Mashed potatoes are too salty. The burgers and fries are good. Services hit and miss. read more

Cute restaurant tucked away from the highway. One waitress on duty was not particularly Engaged in serving us. She was more interested in the work men coming in for lunch. I ordered a breakfast sandwich, slightly greasy. My husband ordered breakfast enchiladas Which he enjoyed but they were not served hot, there were rather lukewarm. He also had Digestive issues about one half hour after the meal. I did not so, just caution if you go. read more

This place has great food. I had a cheeseburger with fries last week. It was excellent. A big beef patty that looked homemade. Not a hockey puck. Plenty of fries too. I'm from out of town. My husband and I are staying at a campground for a few days. One of our favorite things to do is try local eateries. Researching local eateries, we came across Jose's. Jose's will be an eatery we will be returning to. I got the western burger. The portion size was generous. Instead of fries, I got veggies (broccoli and carrots), tasty! My husband got the Philly cheesesteak. The portion size was very generous. He got fries. The fries were crisp, similar tastes to homemade. Stopped here because they had parking for our truck and trailer, and we were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. French Toast, Mushroom Swiss Burger and BLT were all good. French fries were crisp. The real standout though was the machaca breakfast plate! First, up the machaca was SoCal level and real, not the plain shredded beef that is sometimes passed off as "machaca." It also came with Serrano chiles, onions and tomatoes. Roadside diners are a risky business for the traveler. Often you're tired and hungry and the last thing you need is to find a sketchy place. Jose's Country Kitchen has a lot going for them. First, I found their food to be highly competent. Diners are going to serve you 5-star meals, but this place gives you a good hot meal and their servings are huge. So if you have a large appetite, this place is for you pal. You'll also appreciate how reasonable their prices are. They are conveniently right off U.S. 101 and if you're looking out for the place, there's a large Truck Stop sign you can easily see from a distance. They're just north of Paso Robles. The good news for RVers and truckers, there's ample parking space. No worries there. These are good folks and I've stopped by here often over the years and they've remained consistent. read more

This is like a diner in the 50s. It's a clean and quaint restaurant. We can smell the cleaning bleach when we stepped in, not very appetising. The server was friendly and helpful. Food was just OK. The pork chop and steak were dry. I guess it's a good find when you're hungry. read more

Jose's Cafe is a traditional cafe located in North Paso Robles off of the 101. It's located behind a truck stop, so it's very friendly to travelers who are pulling a trailer or driving a big rig. Their food is high quality and delicious! The location is beautiful, located near the highway. I had the Denver Omelette which was prepared perfectly! My work friend enjoyed his steak and eggs. They have plenty of Mexican food too. I almost ordered the beef enchiladas with eggs. They have a really nice outdoor patio with a big Santa Maria style barbecue, so I'm going to guess that their barbecue lunch is probably really good too.
