Had locked my keys in my car at 6 in the morning while doing laundry. Ironically my spare set of keys were locked in my trunk (not making that mistake again). I called and within 20 minutes he arrived. Very nice guy and professional. He told me he's been doing this for 10 years and has seen and heard it all. I even surprised him by joking about my situation. He said most times people aren't as nice in this instances. Didn't take more than 3 minutes and he had my door open and on my way. I called Gabo Locksmith a few minutes before midnight. I had just gotten off work and thoughtlessly locked my bedroom door behind me with my keys still inside. Gabo Locksmith was the only business still open so late. They are open 24 hours! I told him I didn't have cash, and I couldn't drive to the bank beforehand because my car keys were on my key ring as well. They take Venmo! After he was done I scanned his Venmo QR code, paid what I owed him, he confirmed the amount and we shook hands before wishing each other well. The locksmith also arrived very quickly, within 15 minutes. My lock was particularly complicated because it was upside down. He tried a few tools and techniques, and patiently kept working until at last my door finally opened! He even thanked me for my patience. Truly, the locksmith was very kind, professional, patient, diligent, and generous (he was able to make me a copy of my key right outside my apartment with the tools in his van). He was even concerned about waking my roommate. Just seemed like a good man. I appreciate that. I called this company to ask for a quote to change the tumblers for 3 deadbolts. Whoever I spoke to only took down my name, phone number and address. Within 10 minutes I received a call from Eddie. He told me that he was 10 minutes away and he would come over to look at the locks. When Eddie got here, he looked at all the locks in question and told me that I had to not change the tumblers but change all 3 locks entirely, that I had "schlage" locks (that is good for 20 years) and that the cost of changing all 3 locks would cost $330.00. Eddie said, "I can do the job right now." My first thought was, "Here come's the pressure." I don't like to be pressured. Anyone that wants the customer to make a "snap decision" on something and not be allowed to ponder whether to do business with that individual/ business or not is not a good for the customer. Eddie, first said that he wanted cash only and that after the job was done, he would drive me to the ATM. I thought, "Too much pressure". I told Eddie that I was not interested and thanked him for giving me the information on the locks and the quote, then I said that I wasn't interested in him doing the job. Eddie told me that I could use my card but the charge would be 2% of the total bill (that would have equaled $66.00 which would have put my bill at $396.00) Yikes! So Eddie left after I refused for him to do the job (20 minutes ago). About 5 minutes ago , Eddie called me back and said that, "He spoke with his job and he could do the job 'privately' working with him directly and it would cost a lot less". I politely told him thank you, but no thank you and have a nice day. read more
