You're probably reading these reviews the same as I did before choosing to visit. I'm always…read moreskeptical when anything gets mainly 5 star reviews, but figured I'd give them a try. As is true with all the other reviews, I'm now a believer. I loved my last dentist, but he's now 2500 miles away. This experience was equally as good. The quality of the equipment for x-rays is far superior to what I've seen previously. And the assistant who took the x-rays was both efficient and had a lovely personality. When I got to see the dentist she had all the information necessary to determine whether anything needed attention. I explained that at my age (70+) I wasn't interested in anything cosmetic and preferred a conservative approach. She respected me and made no attempt to upsell me on anything. I left feeling extremely comfortable that if I need any dental work she'll be a partner who is most interested in my care. I also was able to have a cleaning immediately after the exam. That, too, was professional and thorough. I thought the charges for everything were very reasonable.

I came in for a second opinion regarding minor pain on one tooth and ended up receiving…read morerecommendations for Invisalign for grinding along with additional laser treatments. What gave me pause was that I've consulted other orthodontists in the past about Invisalign for small cosmetic concerns, and the consistent feedback had always been that my teeth were already well aligned and moving them could potentially create more issues than benefits. Because of that, I felt uncomfortable with how quickly extensive treatment was recommended for what appeared to be relatively minimal contact points, especially when continued night guard use was dismissed as a "band-aid." Seeing so many Invisalign ads throughout the office did not help that feeling. While these recommendations may be appropriate for some patients, I personally left feeling more sold to than educated, and uncomfortable with how my questions were met with defensiveness. I ultimately decided to seek care elsewhere. Everyone in the office was kind (although another reviewers mention of the stepford wives vibes isnt far off), so I feel bad leaving a review especially over a subjective experience but I think it's important to share and encourage patients to ask detailed questions, explore conservative options as well, and make sure they feel fully informed before committing to extensive treatment.

Cynthia that works front office is super nice courteous and people friendly. She makes sure you have everything you need and calls you the day before to smoke you if your appt. Stephanie the one who assist Dr. is awesome as well can't forget her as she handles a lot I'm sure. After his surgery was done they called me into the back so I can sit with him as he wakes up from anesthesia. Nothing but laughter as I enjoyed this office and the staff. Anesthesiologist I didn't get his name but he was friendly as well. I can go on and on about this place but to sum it all up. I recommend this office for a child adult or whom ever needs treatment. This is a long one, so strap in! For anyone who wants the highlights: I wasn't briefed on…read moreanesthetic, I 'woke up' during the procedure, it gave me nerve damage, and I was summarily and condescendingly dismissed. Dr. Farnad performed wisdom teeth extraction on me (all four) at my dentist's office and I can say with complete confidence it was the worst dental/medical experience I've ever been through. From minutes before the procedure to now weeks later it has been nothing short of traumatic. However, I have been reassured that my experience is 'completely normal' for this doctor, so I figured it would be in the best interest of anyone who wants to know that I share a little of what you might be in for! Before going into the exam room I was given multiple pages to fill out and sign, with the anesthetic portion left blank, I let the receptionist know that no one has discussed this with me so I didn't know what to write. She let me know that they would give me the full run-down when I got in with the doctor. Reader, this did not happen, sorry to say. I got into the room and within minutes monitors were placed and an IV needle was inserted into my arm. I'm not good with needles so I looked away when Dr. Farnad inserted the IV, and subsequently pushed whatever medicine it was that he gave me. Again, I want to stress, I had no idea whatsoever what was going to happen to me, so imagine my surprise when I WOKE UP in the middle of the operation. I learned later that I was given IV sedation, so I was never 'all the way out' but wherever I had gone during the first half of the extraction, I was definitely back. I remember every part of it: my hysterical sobbing, Dr. Farnad telling me to stop fighting him or it would take four hours, the male assistant brought in to hold my head still, my apologizing for fighting but 'it hurts so bad', then him giving me another shot in my mouth as he continued to have to break apart one of my wisdom teeth. At no point was it acknowledged that I was most definitely back in the room with them until afterward the assistant said, "huh, so THAT'S oral surgery," and when I responded saying that was an insane thing to announce to a patient, he commented to the other assistant "I'm surprised she's so alert," to which she said "Yeah, but she'll be out again as soon as she's in the car." Reader, again I have to inform you that this did not happen. Now we're weeks out from the surgery, and I'm experiencing absolutely mind blowing levels of nerve irritation in my chin. I went back in to speak with my dentist who let me know that it sounded like nerve damage, between the numbness and the painful tingling. (Note: the dentist brought up the nerve damage, not me.) Today I had the displeasure of going to a follow up with Dr. Farnad who showed up for our appointment an HOUR late. When I brought up the potential nerve damage he immediately dismissed me with a condescending "Oh so you let the internet scare you." Then he let me know that this kind of numbness and nerve pain was so common with his patients, he sees it all the time, and that the pain and numbness will be gone within the next two and a half months. He then asked the assistant for x-rays to see how it looked internally. This was when I really began to question his competence, because while looking at my x-ray he said: a) he left a cap in to not disturb the nerve, b) did not leave a cap in, he left a bunch of room for the nerve, c) was unable to tell if he had done a bone graft for me, and asked if I had paid for one to settle the matter. He then gave me his personal phone number and encouraged me to stay off the internet, because it's only going to scare me. Well sorry, I went back on the internet.

**Revised to address the Doctor's response - what an awful, untrustworthy and condescending person…read more First, he called me to discuss this review and offered a free consultation in exchange for taking down this review, which I believe is a violation of Yelp's terms. Second, what he states below is completely different from both what his staff said over the phone and not at all what he shared with me when we spoke. He was adamant that they needed to charge all fees up front. He reiterated numerous times that he wasn't a benefits expert but he has advisors and staff he trusts to understand it better. So when I shared that I am well versed on insurance benefits, both as a patient and a plan administer for my own company, I thought he might actually take interest in learning about how unethical it is to charge a patient twice. Instead he repeatedly spoke over me and told me that - while he himself wasn't knowledgeable on insurance, clearly I must still be wrong. Now he's writing that they only do this in some cases (no insurance or out of network), but all the sudden he's now saying that they only charge an estimate when the are in network - first time that's being said. This person continually spoke over me and let his ego drive the conversation. I hung up when it was clear that he had zero respect for me or the time I offered after he asked to speak to me. In no world is this someone I would trust with the health of my jaw or ever being under anesthesia. To purposely call someone to deride them when you have no real knowledge is its own ethical issue. Get your business in order, sir. First, it took three calls and two voicemails to even hear from anyone. Second, the billing practices are completely unethical - they bill you up front for all services AND then bill your insurance. They claim they'll reimburse you whatever insurance decides to pay. It's beyond unethical. Finally, their front office is wildly unhelpful. Not only do they not return calls, but they can't answer basic questions like how much a consultation costs. Between ethics violations, insurance fraud and incompetent administration, I'm not sure how they got so many 5 star reviews without paying for them (insanely common for dentists and plumbers on Yelp).
