I have been wanting to go to Gabriela's for quite some time, especially because it's another one of those spots that's within walking distance from my house. Had the chance to have a holiday lunch with work colleagues at Gabriela's & wow. First, let's start with the bad: PARKING IS NEAR NON-EXISTENT. There is a small pay lot next to the restaurant that is privately owned (the restaurant has nothing to do with it). It is expensive and a mess. Not maintained well at all. The lot can hold maybe 6-10 cars (if that), and if you enter from 7th, it's kind of uphill on a little grade. It's also angled weird. And, FILLED WITH HUGE POTHOLES. My Mini scraped the bottom the whole time. What a nightmare. Luckily, I didn't have to pay to park; directly behind the restaurant are four spots for customers. I was able to grab the last open space. You know, after dragging my car through that mess. The restaurant, like many in Austin, is in an old house. A cute bungalow-style home that's decorated in a welcoming, modern, and eclectic theme. Lots of color, murals, photo op areas, etc. They've got a really nicely sized covered patio. The patio was all decked out for the holidays and looked amazing. The food was good. Like darn good. I had a side order of Mexican Green Spaghetti, and that poblano sauce hit the spot. It had a creamy and fresh flavor. I also got the Gringas quesadilla with skirt steak. It's basically a one-tortilla quesadilla flipped over. It was packed with so much gooey cheese, steak, onion, and cilantro that it was a meal in itself. The tomatillo sauce had quite a little kick and really made the quesadilla pop with flavor. The other folks I was with had two different types of enchiladas and tacos. We all really dug our food and have decided it would be a great place to become one of our regular workplace gatherings. That is, if we arrive via Lyft, Waymo, Uber, or walking. Seriously, I will go back, especially since it's only a ten-minute walk from my apartment.
I always wanted to try this location because of the views. I had gone to the south location plenty of times and of course, it's much bigger. This location is very small and the wait was long but we did have a group of 10. I did call ahead of time and they still had us wait an hour. The host wasn't that friendly and I would stick to my south location when my family and friends come into town. The food is always 10/10 and we all love Birria tacos. It is a bit pricey but worth it my family from California really enjoyed this place they said it felt like they were at a day club and didn't want to leave (lol). Our server was very nice and she took her time I'm sad I forgot her name but she really made sure once she talked to us that she took care of us and got everything we needed.
The restaurant itself has a super cute porch and a great view of the city line! Inside is a little cram so I wouldn't recommend. We did a reservation the day before and had no problem getting in. Service was a little slow in the beginning but food came out extremely quick and was AMAZING! Highly recommend the queso and puffy tacos. Everyone at our table loved the homemade chips. We would have liked to know that you can't split the check per entree before hand but wasn't a problem for us; and everything is priced really well! Very kind staff and will definitely be coming back here again soon! (Even though someone stole my phone charge but it was another customer....)
Mid Gabriele's is really cute with a nice outside area to sit and eat. However the food was mid. I was there for brunch. My friends and I got the pineapple mimosa tower and it was good . My friend ordered guacamole for an appetizer and it was really tasty. I order the tipsy French toast with the birria empanadas. The guy empanadas were big , but there was not much meat in them. The meat was bland and the consommé was the most bland I've ever tasted!! The tipsy French toast was really good, I wish I had more of the syrup that was on it. Overall the food was mid. I had fun because the DJ was great. If I go again, it would be for appetizers!
The service here was great! Jay was handling the bar and the outside tables and still accommodated us well without us feeling like a burden or rushed. He rang in our happy hour orders with only a few mins to spare because we'd arrived just 10 mins before it ended. From there the happy hour items came out quickly! For the entree, I ordered the enchiladas and a fish taco. The enchiladas had steak strips in them topped with a chili con queso and came with rice and beans on the side. I didn't enjoy the enchiladas, mainly because of the chile sauce (the red sauce) and also because it was pretty cold when it got to me. The sauce was a strong flavor and covered the dish, but if you like that flavor then that will be no problem! I ordered the fish taco as well because I was torn between so many items (their menu is pretty big). But I loved the taco and I hate I didn't order more. The tortilla was a great thickness, the fish was nice and flavorful with the perfect amount of crisp to it. The slaw and sauces on top were perfect, not too much or too little. I don't know that this is a place I'd come back to next time I'm in Austin, but if I do, it would be for those tacos! It's also a super cute partially indoor, mostly outdoor space. We sat on the patio and enjoyed the beautiful skyline. The decor here made us feel like we were in Miami. So if you're into aesthetics and love a happy hour and tacos, then this is the place for you.
Came here for dinner with my husband, another couple, and 3 children around 7:30 on a Friday night. We each paid $17 for parking right off the bat. We were sat down pretty quickly, but the music was already very loud inside. Our drink and appetizer order was taken very quickly; however, we were all taken aback by the fact there was no salsa delivered to the table. Instead you have to purchase a $5 salsa sampler. The food was ok- definitely nothing to write home about, and the service was subpar. When we got our bills we were both already had a 20% gratuity added. Probably would never come here again despite the reviews.
The service was great. Her name was Priscilla she was so sweet. The ambience is so fucking cute. It's like an old house that's now a restaurant! The back patio is to die for!!!! and they do live DJs. Definitely a weekend brunch hang out. As for the food, it was pretty good. We got the birria grilled cheese. We got the chorizo queso (it is a fundido) not a dip and the shrimp ceviche ( it was good but it's a tomato base) so kinda just a personal preference, I like mine very citrusy. But overall it was good vibes and good food!
Service A+. Atmosphere A+ especially from being in a maybe sketch area? We are here for the day and a bartender at an establishment recommended this place. Outstanding!! Food came out quickly and piping hot! Everything was...as my daughter said...fire. Best Mexican place I have ever been to! Do not miss out on this place!!
We stopped by for lunch on a Thursday. Place was empty, it's an older establishment so don't have high expectation when going. Our waiter was nice but didn't speak much English but that was not a big deal for us. We ordered the two torta that they have on their menu the brisket and the Cuban one. Both come with loads of show string fries, however they both lack some kind of sauce or condiment or something. They are on the dryer side. We also ordered size of coleslaw and wasn't impressed that for $4 they gave us a tinny little container like what you get at burger spots for ketchup or ranch. Overall we liked it we may go back for drinks and more food item if we are ever in the area. They did have a very loud Mexican music playing and the entire decor is very colorful.
This was my first time trying Gabriela's. For a Saturday the wait was not very long. We were seated within 20 minutes of arrival. It took a while before a server came by for drink orders. Not sure of our servers name but we didn't see her much. Which made dinner drag longer than it should . The corn lacked flavor and was kind of dry. There are no actual spicy salsas . My tacos were ok but the meat was really tough. The highlight were the drinks . They were really good. We didn't order another round since the service was really slow here .
Stopped by Gabriela's Downtown during a recent trip to Austin, and the food did not disappoint. Classic Tex-Mex done right--everything we ordered was flavorful and satisfying. The only hiccup was the service. We had a reservation through OpenTable for 12:30, but when we arrived, we were told they were still putting our table together... and ended up waiting about 45 minutes. Not ideal. Luckily, we grabbed seats at the bar and ordered a classic margarita--it was absolutely delicious and helped pass the time. Overall, even with the wait, I'd come back for the food and drinks alone. Just hoping for a smoother seating experience next time.
Location is great, right off of 35 with a great view of the Austin downtown skyline! Their patio was the only thing open and they had plenty of fans to cool us off in this summer heat! All workers wore their masks, our drinks were in disposable cups, they even gave us plastic silverware. The only reusable thing was the plates they served our food on. We came for one thing mostly: the Micheladas, and their Preparadas. Gabrielas didn't disappoint! The drinks were loaded with fruits and chamoy. It was really refreshing and a great way to end/start our Friday evening. The shrimp ceviche was fresh and tasty! For the plate it was kind of steep at $16. It definitely wouldn't have filled me up if we hadn't ordered chips, salsa and queso as an appetizer. Their salsa flight was spot on, I really digged the creamy avocado one especially! This place is crackin! Music is really good. Well oiled machine. Staff is welcoming and attentive. Although we were told 45 min wait, we only waited for 20 min. The menu is small, but has something for everyone. I had Gordita's off the brunch menu. Eh. I wouldn't get it again. The beans were really good, spicy. I tasted a piece of the French toast. Yes all day yes. We went first night in Austin, so much fun. The drinks were strong but very good. We got a mescal margarita, gabby's margarita and a frozen mango drink. We had the salsa combo and chorizo cheese dish to start and for dinner we got the mole chicken enchiladas, the steak gringas, and a bistek torta for my son. Everything was super except for the mole, it was just ok. This place also had a live dj and such a vibe. We listened to awesome music and just had fun. read more

The atmosphere, great for first date or large parties. The drinks are a ten (10). Food, mediocre. Gabriela's is not the place to go when hungry. It's the place for great drinks, get-to-know-you botanas and pre'party feels. Come thirty. read more
Came to Gabriela's after ditching a different venue. My marg was a bit on the fiery side while the queso flameado was a bit on the lukewarm. The miracle of the night was that the patio was packed with a live DJ and we were still able to snag a seat on Valentine's Day. Service was quick but a bit inaudible due to the loud music which I was absolutely enjoying. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. I really do wish that the queso flameado would have come out a bit hotter especially because we were sitting outside on a very cold evening. The tortillas were warm and tasted homemade to me. The enfrijoladas were smothered in mole and black bean goodness. The rice tasted good but was a bit mushy towards the bottom portion of the plate. The chicken was seasoned properly and really complemented the richness of the mole and the black beans. The other dish that was ordered was the tacos - rajas con crema. This was utterly disappointing and that is putting it nicely. I am not sure what the ingredients were but they tasted like unseasoned under cooked vegetables. If al dente has a slight bite to it, this was the antiderivative (pardon my calculus). At this point I wanted a dessert because I have the most insatiable sweet tooth but instead we were just given our bill. I think because it was a busy night and because they were extremely busy, this whole process felt a bit rushed but I really did enjoy myself minus the few things that could be improved upon. read more

Ate here for dinner Wednesday night and had the most amazing food ever! It's a small place but the vibrant decor and lively music make it feel much bigger! The tacos de carne asada were tender and seasoned well. The potatoe and jicama slices were a nice relief from the spicy tomatillo salsa. The real MVP of this place is the queso flameado or choriqueso. It was SO GOOD! If I'm ever in Austin again, Gabriela's is definitely on my list of must haves. read more

Thus was my 1st visit ...and let me start by saying this place is super cute, but the parking is terrible (Thanks to Austin construction) just park around the corner it's metered! But this place is still worth the trip,great outdoor patio in front and back, service was good, food was excellent..drinks were also perfect... I will definitely go back !! Got to finally make it to Gabriela's after living in Austin for 4 years. I've heard amazing things about the atmosphere, drinks, and food which I did agree with but after today I'm hesitant to return. When we first arrived we eagerly reviewed the menu picked some drinks out and waited for our waiter. When we ordered he asked us for our ID's (we're both 22 & pretty young looking). After presenting my ID, he began to hesitate and verbally question whether or not the individual in my ID and myself were the same (we are--it's me). I said yes & asked if it didn't look like me, granted I'm only 22 and my ID is still a picture of me from when I was in high school!! When he then answered he said, "te miras mas delgadita en este foto." For my non Spanish speakers that means "you look much skinnier in this picture". Hurt and shocked that I was just called fat, I turned bright red and my boyfriend rushed to answer for me and said it was me. He then finally asked me what my full name on the ID was. After answering he still was hesitant but said he'd give it to me anyways. I was hurt and shocked and my boyfriend was ready to leave, but I insisted staying because I wasn't going to let a machismo man ruin my Saturday afternoon. The food was amazing and the live music was incredible, but before you consider this location maybe give yourself a self pep talk first. read more
Such a fun place and delicious to boot! I've been here several times now and enjoy it more each time. Flavorful menu with so many options. The chicken creme enchiladas are delicious and the sauce is out of this world. You will not be disappointed with any drink you choose. The vibe is fun and upbeat, great for a party. Gabriela's certainly lived up to the hype! Sometimes when you see a super aesthetic, "instagrammy" restaurant, the food is a hit or miss, but Gabriela's did not disappoint! The vibes were immaculate with the DJ playing Drake and Bad Bunny. We ordered the quesa birria tacos, they weren't on the menu but when we asked their server they said they had 6 left! We ordered two each which was more than enough. The rice and beans were so flavorful. The chips and guac were also so delicious and they gave a huge portion of guac. 10/10 can't wait to take my out of town friends here when they visit! read more
First visit to Gabrielas in downtown Austin. My first thought was why have i not been here before! Walking in we already enjoyed the ambiance. All staff members were so attentive and friendly from the greeter to the bartender. They had the cutest wall decor. The music playing was good. They have indoor and outdoor patio sitting. I ordered the Cool as a Cucumber Mezcal-Rita. For food i had the Tinga de Pollo plate. Everything was so good! My cousin who i was with had a Ceviche Michelada and that too was delicious! Our server was so attentive. So was the bartendner. Everyone made sure to check on us often and see if we needed anything. Now i will be going back to check out their brunch! read more
This is as good as it gets Yelpers! I have never been here before yet I always drive by to go home. I have been missing out for sure! I love it here. I have been here 4 times now in the last 2 months. I'd go more however I'd go broke as I eat and drink too much when I am there. It is amazing. The ambience alone is something you can't recreate. The music, the food, drinks, salsas... omgoodness. I will forward the parking situation is downright confusing. If you can avoid that altogether you're golden here. Always get an appetizer. I have been knocking back each menu item and their stuff is legit. I am an average white guy however to me this seems very authentic. The social climate should also help validate this place as so many Mexican families and friends seem to congregate here for meals. Gabriela's is a real jewel in the city of Austin. read more

Gabriela's might have my favorite insta-friendly-pretty-vibes Mexican food happy hour yet. If only they would validate parking--or better yet, have more parking options. We came by for happy hour and missed the entrance, so we had to do a quick u-turn, only to find that the parking right on its lot is metered. It's pay by the hour, so we just bit the bullet and paid it instead of parking who-knows-where and risking break-ins or a 10-tons-of-sweatage-walk-over. The host stand is right through the front entrance and their SUPER colorful mural work. We sat outside in their back porch area. Our server was a very friendly young man who was very efficient and got us all of our orders. We thought happy hour ended at 6pm, but he assured us it went until 6:30pm. SCORE on the HH! We got two margs and enjoyed the sopecitas. Their guacamole is also divine. Their tortilla chips are hot and the thicc kind--my favorite kind! I'm definitely a thick tortilla chip kinda gal. They didn't have too many vegetarian options compared to meat for the happy hour menu, but I was very happy that there were some at least. The sopecitas were yumminess in black bean form. I dream about going back for more HH. I've seen my friends get their marg flights...so cool! They also have clean restrooms (one stall only) and have plenty of room for all sized parties. Very cool Mexican restaurant with nice food and cool drinks. I could come here to grab a quick bite, or chill for an amazing drink. This is located right outside of downtown, and it looks like a house. They have indoor seating, and outdoor backyard seating. Only issue is it's sort of a tight space indoors, and outdoors can get quite hot. They only have fans that point either your direction or opposite side. The backyard has a stage setup, but I'm not sure if that gets utilized for a special weekend night. Also, not all of the backyard is covered. Food was good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Definitely fresh made, and had flavor. The quantity was decent also. Drinks are picture perfect, and taste delicious. Only thing is the prices are a bit high, but I guess you're paying city prices. TIP: If you plan on arranging a big party then call ahead to see how they can accommodate, and clarify if you would like to sit indoor or outdoor. read more

We were visiting from Houston to celebrate our anniversary and this was one of the places on my list to visit. After we checked in on a Monday we headed here for happy hour which is from 3-6p M-F. We got there a little before 4 there was no wait we were greeted by the friendly host we wanted to sit at the bar since we were just having drinks and an appetizer. The bartender Marco was very nice great customer services he made sure we were taken care of the whole time. I only had Gabby's margarita which was so good with just the right amount tequila. My boyfriend tried the micheHelada pop and mangonada margarita he liked the margarita the most. We had choriqueso as an appetizer which was authentically delicious. Would recommend especially for happy hour we will have to come back and try some of their food and the margarita flight! read more

This place was packed , it's more of a wanna be club ambiance , honestly the host was so unprofessional and drunk , I was ready to leave as soon as we got there, we waited in the entrance to be seated and a nice little waitress said "walk in and head to the front they will sit you" , so we did , and then the hostess asked "can I help you", while she held a margarita in her hand and sipping on it, I said "yes we need to be seated , the waitress said to come back here and find a table", she said "I don't know who told you that but no, we are not sitting anyone anymore" so I said ok , I'm headed to walk out and my husband was being seated by another waitress, at this point I'm upset and this hostess said "I guess you can stay" wow! So rude! I wanted to leave, but my kids and husband were hungry already...(also people came after us and got seated) *__* wow! I didn't want to order husband insisted, and also for me to change my attitude with those who serve our food.. I did , I'm not a rude person , but I was being tested.. anyways our waitress was really nice. You do need to scan the menu, also the drinks and food is really good, they have music very loud which I normally enjoy but not this night. If your single this is the place for you, so many singles are here drinking, and fair prices , food looks amazing! Note to self : don't bring my kids next time ... oh and here is a pic of the drunk hostess that was rude! I would've rated this place a 10 for food and drinks and waitress... but this hostess gave y'all a 1/2 star..oh ans the restroom ewww Parking is an issue you have to park on a hill and pay $19 through app or they tow your vehicle , so carpool people :) that's all read more

In love with this place, food is amazing and staff is super friendly!!! just the vibe we needed to kick off our vacation in Austin. The food was amazing and the drinks of course is the best part!! I definitely recommend to come here for a good time. The choriqueso is again...AMAZING!!! they also have street corn as an appetizer and let me tell you, you will NOT be disappointed. If you are missing the taste of Mexico or want to experience Mexican food, come here!! The food and drinks we ordered were outstanding. I was shaking my head while eating because each bite was delicious. If you are looking for a fancy, this is not the place. But if you are into flavors, then, checkout Gabriela's! read more
After stalking this place on TikTok and IG I finally made my way out here (I reside in Elgin) after a nice morning hike; me and a friend went here for lunch and drinks. There was a 30 min wait, which I'm not surprised lol the service, drinks and food was BOMB!! I would definitely recommend this place and will be back soon! read more

First time at this place, visiting Austin! Went for my sisters bday brunch. Vibe is young and hip as they had a DJ set up playing nonstop. There were all ages tho! Margarita flight is worth the $20 in my opinion. Couldn't taste the strawberry one pictured due to allergies so pawned it off. However, the gabby marg with the flower was my #1 choice as I ordered that one after the flight and the table favorite as well. Paloma marg was my second fav. Not pictured, the champagne bottle with orange juice. Provided with ice and cups - not a bad gig for a bottle of champ and orange juice. OJ is pulpy if you aren't into that. Honestly got so full on the queso, had to take my leftovers home. Barrio tacos are good, very filling and served with beans and rice. The food was worth the wait! The interior and exterior is aesthetically pleasing, so get your IG pics in. The restaurant itself is TINY, but there is a patio for additional seating. Our table shared the choriqueso, which was a queso with spicy pork chorizo, guacamole, chipotle and tomatillo sauces, served with tortillas -- so cheesy! They have SO many drink options (margaritas, micheladas, beers, pitchers). We also shared the margarita flight which came with a gabby, mangonada, strawberry, and paloma marg. I think the flight was okay and next time, I would just get a mangonada. It was nice to try though! For food, I got the birria tacos and my bf got the migas. The tacos were good and filling, the meat was juicy and flavorful! It came with rice and beans on the side. Our service was good as well. Our server was very knowledgeable on the menu. Because its so close to downtown, you have to pay for parking. There is a lot right next to the restaurant and you can pay on your phone. I remember paying $10 or so for a 2 hour window. Delicioso! I guess you could consider this a hole in the wall by the looks of it. It might have been someone's home years ago and it's right off the main street. There's hardly any parking right now due to construction but still worth checking out. While there isn't a whole lot on the food menu, they have fun and interesting drinks! I was excited to try the biria ramen but they ran out - bummer! read more
