I use to come here often with some coworkers. My mom and I decided to stop here. My mom ordered a grilled cheese and went with a soup for a side and I did the panini with a side salad. The menu said the sandwiches each came with a side. I also ordered a slice of coconut cake and a slice of the burbon pecan cake. The grilled cheese looked just like my panini on the outside, we both ordered sourdough bread. Not sure if they do not make their own sourdough loaves or if we just got regular white bread in error but it definitely wasnt a true sourdough so It was a bit disappointing since this is a bakery. Neither of our cheeses on our sandwiches were melted although they were supposed to be warm sandwiches. Each meal came with a side per the menu. There is a sheet of paper that listed the sides. I assumed a side salad and a soup would be an extra charge but the sides were both about 5-6 extra which seems like we were charged a normal price side and not a substitution for an upgraded side. The sheet with the sides didnt list a price. I ended up paying $60 after tip but I did not feel what I got was worth that price. The staff was nice but I am not sure if I will come back for lunch since it was overpriced in my opinion for luke warm grilled cheese and panini. We tried to go to Season for breakfast on a Saturday morning but didn't know we needed a reservation. They directed us to Gabriel's Bakery, which has teamed up with Season, so the menu was the same. It was a larger location with plenty of seating for walk ins. We ordered at the counter then found a table and were served our drinks and meals. We got the Chicken Cordon Bleu Biscuit with a side of eggs and the Croque Madam. Both were delicious. It's a bit of a drive for us but will be back next time we are in that area. read more

Gotta love local bakeries! I was unaware this place was here until a recent marketing event. Apparently everyone that lives or works near Marietta Square knows about this place. This is a sister restaurant to Paula Dean, and they serve up delicious cakes, pies, treats and food! It is a very popular lunch spot, as I discovered. They open at 11am, so it's best to get there when doors open for all the best baked goodies. I opted to try lunch one day and did their chicken salad sammie with house made chips. The meal portion was large and food was super fresh, including all ingredients. Loved their kettle house chips. The sammie, with sourdough bread, was amazing. My only complaint is that the chicken salad was lightly spread. They have booths and tables to sit down and eat. Highly recommend stopping in here for lunch or treats. Certainly a great place to grab food for marketing events too! read more

Went for lunch today, did not realize Gabriel's had been sold to Season restaurant. They did not keep the best item on the menu, the chicken salad on croissant. The new menu is very limited. I ordered a grilled cheese with pork...terrible. I could not taste the cheese as there was only a thin layer of cheese melted into a crisp wafer on one side of the outside. It appears that Gabriel's quality has noticeably declined. This used to be our go-to spot for Southern food. However, today we had 2 vegetable plate lunches that were disappointing. I ordered three vegetables. The collard greens had stems almost as big as asparagus-- see photo. The string beans were heavily salted with a lot of black pepper. They were not very good. They charge nine dollars for three-vegetable plate. The meals for both of us were $23. This seemed overpriced for what we got. This place has pretty good desserts, but that's the only thing it has going for it. The quality of food has severely declined over the past few years and isn't even worth going in anymore. The service is awful as it takes an insane amount of time to receive your food. Honeslty expect to wait over an hour if you're going here. I ordered a mini strawberry cake online for my mothers birthday (against my better judgement from looking at the reviews here). I received an email confirmation but needed to call to see if it was ready day of pick-up (I have never ordered /booked an online service and not have any call to confirm, odd way of doing business). I tried calling, left a voicemail, left a message via IG and no one responded. The automated system for their phone is not good because it's voice command only. I decided to hope for the best and hope the order would be ready. The cake looked really cute but then when we cut it, it was not done. It was gummy inside. It was also sugary. This used to be a really good place to get lunch and desserts, but today's visit was so disappointing and irritating. First of all, they package all food to go after they ask if you're eating there. ?? Why did you ask? I prefer not eating out of plastic containers, but everyone here is served that way. So they set your bag of food out, call your name, and go back into the kitchen. I didn't get any forks for my $30 worth of food, and they don't set them out for you, so I just stand there waiting. Crickets. Had to go wait for someone to notice me at the front. Why not set the cutlery out?? It's individually wrapped in plastic. Seems safe. The portions were very small. This is a true gem of a bakery! The best homemade desserts, treats, and cakes! I do not need to be gluten free but my friend does...I was at her home for a party and she had the GF Strawberry cake. Strawberry being my absolute favorite cake, I indulged. Had no idea the cake was GF, but from then on, I am sold on this cake at Gabrielle's!!! I absolutely love this place! I can't believe I only learned about them in the last year. The staff there is kind and helpful. And the bakery has a variety of desserts to choose from. My favorite everyday treat are the lemon bars and mini key lime tarts. I can also tell they use high quality chocolate for their brownies - yum! Also, their seasonal items are always delicious. My favorite seasonal desserts are the lemon squares, the lemon blueberry bars (summer), and the ginger pumpkin cheesecake bars (fall) lol. These two stars hurts me, just as bad as I hope it resonates with them! I work for Disney so I know what's good and bad service, and unfortunately Gabriel's customer service is lacking. We ordered a lemon pound cake and what was supposed to be 18 mini cupcake for my mom's 70th birthday. Now when the box was presented to me, each cupcake had a strawberry on top, leaving me to believe I had what my mom ordered. It wasn't until until the middle of the party that my mom finally ate a cupcake and realized what she ate was VANILLA! She was a little upset but had nothing else to serve her Guests. We saved one strawberry and another vanilla to complain to Gabriel's later in the weekend. When we called we were met with aggression, and skepticism. We weren't offered any apology, and the only recovery we were offered (apparently by the Head Pastry Chef and manager Barbara) was replacement of ONE MINI strawberry cupcake because that's all that we could prove. I'm just surprised, while I understand people do try to get over on business, there's nothing wrong rectifying obvious issues. At the end of the day, something was amiss with the order, and there was an insulting offer to fix. Let me also say we DID NOT ask for a refund either, we asked her to up her offer to a compromise of 6 mini cupcakes but even the manager was resistant to that! My mom was really upset as she is a VERY loyal customer. I don't even live here and I've been 3 times to pick up cakes from this bakery this year alone. This bakery is awesome! I can't speak for the food itself but the baked goods are DIVINE!! I got a 4inch German chocolate cake (probably one of the best I have ever had) the coconut frosting is delicious - the best part. The frosting to cake ratio was perfect. $10 Double fudge cake with vanilla buttercream cake slice. The cake was soft and moist and frosting was really good not buttery and very light -was really good maybe needed a little bit more based on cake size. $5 Also got an apple caramel cheesecake bar, salted caramel tart, key lime pie and blondie. Everything tasted fresh and crisp besides the key lime pie, the crust was stale not crispy At all. The blondie has same German chocolate cake frosting I believe. We can't keep blaming everything on the pandemic. Having said that - 3 stars is still A-ok. I think it's odd to pay ten bucks for a burger and not be able to request medium versus well done. The burger was a little dry as expected since it was well done. But the main reason I deducted a star is the older, gray haired cashier snapped at me when she answered. A simple, No we only serve them well done would have sufficed. Instead she raised her voice at me then pursed her lips like a disapproving school marm afterwards. I also asked for a side of mayo and they put it on the burger. Please note - lots of people dip their fries in mayo. Turns out it was ok because the fries looked good but they were cooked so hard even dipping them in mayo wouldn't have saved them. The bun and produce were good and the presentation was nice. The new setup is also a bit odd. There's a big open area when you come in, but the board with specials is easily obscured by just 2 people. This happened to me. When I asked the 2 people standing at the board if they were in line or just waiting on food, the odd acting male customer said he was in line then almost knocked the other female customer down in his haste to jump in front of me. Later this same guy sat on the bench up front waiting for his food. He kept staring at everyone who entered and he did this weird thing where he sorta blinked with his whole face. And he kept reaching over and sort of cradling / grabbing the package he had next to him. It was very odd. He was tall - long legs with a bulky coat. He monopolized the entire bench and he sat with his legs spread and extended as though he was hoping to trip someone walking by. Keep in mind, this bench is right by the entrance and exit doors. But I digress ... It was before the lunch rush and it took quite a bit longer than I'd anticipated. I also saw two different customers come back up to the counter because there was something wrong with their order, then give up when it took too long for someone to come back out from the kitchen. Both the ordering & pick-up process could use some tweaking. IDK - maybe put the board with specials closer to the door and mount it high enough that it can be seen even when the place is crowded. And maybe organize a dedicated wait area for takeaway orders. Anyway ... I don't enjoy being yelled at. Nor do I really enjoy well cooked burgers. But the first cashier who waited on me and the young lady who brought the food out to the pickup counter were both very friendly. The tables are also spaced a good distance apart so I won't give them anything less than 3 stars. read more

AHHHH!! The BEST gluten free cake I have had in Metro Atlanta! I heard about Gabriel's from coworkers and had no clue I could get phenomenal gluten free cake here! We tried it for my mom's birthday and got the yellow cake with chocolate frosting. It was pretty good but then a few days later, we got the gluten free strawberry cake. You would have NO CLUE it was gluten free! It tasted incredible. They also do wedding cakes and I will DEFINITELY be hitting them up for a gluten free wedding cake when that time comes. We visited Gabriel's for the fist and last time today. Don't get me wrong. The food was good (not great) and they are doing a great job with COVID measures. And their cakes and cookies look delicious. However, the value for the money is poor in my opinion. I had the Rueben sandwich that included a pickle on the side and a bag of chips. The meal was $12.99. For $13, a drink was not included and the meat was not piled high, nor was the sauerkraut. I can get a large sub combo including a drink at Firehouse Subs for about $12. Or a Giant sub at Jersey Mike's for $14.75. The point is the sub places provide a lot more food for the price. You can get a Pick 2 at Panera for less than $9 which is about the same amount of food. We may go back to try the sweet items but not enough value for us in the food choices. read more

We came here for lunch at the recommendation of family who had been buying petit fours and other baked goods from the establishment for years. The interior is a huge cavernous space, so larger groups would probably fare well. Service is of the counter order, table delivery-type, and drinks are self-serve from the fountains out in the dining area. Our whole meal experience seemed a bit off from the rave reviews that we had been prepped with. My bowl-sized portion of chicken and dumplings was overly thick with starchy bland scraps of dough. I know that there can be different interpretations of dumplings, but this version was not palatable. My sister, who has enjoyed their chicken salad in the past, mentioned that the recipe had been changed, now with the addition of raw onion, which can be a polarizing ingredient for some. For dessert, alas they were out of petit fours, so we divided up several of their large soft cookies--peanut butter and ginger. These were far better than the aforementioned lunch options. Service was also not up to the normal high bar that most restaurants in the South pride themselves on. The waitstaff delivering the food to the table seemed aloof when they confused some of our order. As others have suggested, Gabriel's might be under new management, and the regime still has some refining to do. read more

Oh Boy!!!! This place just warmed my heart ( literally, I drank my coffee to fast -lol ) I came here one morning for a late breakfast and Gabriel's did not disappoint. I was served up a huge breakfast plate that included 2 scrambled eggs, my choice of bacon, sausage or ham and I chose bacon ( you can never go wrong with bacon ), toast or biscuit and grits. I ordered a coffee to drink, Laura was nice enough to offer a to go cup just in case I was taking it with me. Now, back to these grits...... Lol, I notice they looked a little different from the normal, right before I was about to poor on the salt, pepper and butter, I asked Laura about them, she suggested I taste them first, so I did.... They were already yummy, different, but yummy. They use some kind of cream in them and it made them light and very creamy. I'm actually going to try it the next time I make grits. Gabriel's offers everything from deli sandwiches to gourmets special occasion cakes. I literally had to rush out of there right after breakfast to keep from buying a dessert, the muffins were calling my name. The staff was very polite, I was checked on twice and given a to go box so that I could enjoy my biscuit later. We got our wedding cake from Gabriel's and loved it! It was affordable and delicious plus our guests just raves about it. HOWEVER, the service was just alright. We paid extra for them to deliver our cake on a Sunday and by the time it was supposed to be delivered (shortly before the ceremony was going to start) we hadn't heard anything from anyone. Eventually they did end up bringing the cake and they made it right after the fact by refunding us. I walked into an epidemic of middle-aged souls sitting in creaky, wooden chairs, waiting for the infamous call of their surname. Being a young and inexperienced cake buyer, I thought ordering ahead of time, online, was a smart and time-effective choice... OHHH was I WRONG. I saw the expression of dire times in the faces of all individuals. Employees must've called out sick, families waiting for the soft and glorious taste of cake, and worst of all..... scrooges who ruined the HOLLY JOLLY CAKE pick-up experience. After getting my info put into the Cake System, I sat, and sat, and sat...... IT WAS PAINFUL. I'm writing this review after 45min of waiting, and alas, my cake IS STILL NOT IN MY LAP! I'm about to go home! However, Gabriels has added a comedic bonus to the wait time. They purposely have a broken door which ppl can't open. I sit about 10ft away from it, watching individuals not read the "Open Here" sign and push the door stupidly. I can't stop laughing at their incompetence! I do enjoy the laughing-stock. My friend ordered the fried chicken but they were out of it so she got the chicken fried steak and it was very good. We picked out four small cakes, because we wanted a little of everything for the party. We got the German Chocolate, Italian Cream, Strawberry, and Carrot Cake. All of them were amazing.
