I was walking around the Marietta Square after lunch when my sweet tooth kicked in. I googled sweet shops in the area, which led me to Miss Mamie's! Location and Parking Miss Mamie's is located right on Marietta square; parking is all around the square, or in a deck a short distance away. Venue and Atmosphere The space is bright, clean, and so cute! There are tables and chairs if you'd like to stay for a dessert date, and the cupcakes are displayed in pretty lighted shelves. Service Staff is friendly and provided good descriptions of the cupcakes. I don't drink beer but they convinced my to try a Guinness (spoiler alert: I was not disappointed). Food and Beverages I ordered 6 cupcakes to go. Red velvet: cake was moist but the icing was tangy and not the traditional cream cheese icing flavor. Guinness: yeasty and chocolatey with a hint of caramel. Cookie dough: fresh and a perfect blend of flavors. Triple chocolate: delicious and soft, not too bitter as chocolate icing can sometimes be. Turtle: reminded me of German chocolate as it had a hint of caramel. Lemon raspberry: great blend of fruit flavors and the icing was delicious too. Verdict I'll be back! read more

It all started with the Guinness cupcake. Not-too-rich, yeasty and chocolatey base - just as you'd expect from drinking the beer. Decadent and delightful cream cheese frosting. As smooth as the head of a perfectly poured Guinness. And to bring it all in, the slight drizzle of something reminiscent of caramel - but it's lighter and more exciting than that - and the strewn mini chocolate chips on top just bring it to perfection. That was my secret discovery nearly 12 years ago when Maime first opened her quaint shop on the Square. From then, I've schlepped half dozen and full dozen assortments alike to various birthdays, going away parties, sad times, happy times, you name it. Mamie's cupcakes have always been a source of comfort and familiarity for me. So much so, I even had a collection of mini cupcakes and pies arranged our dessert table at my wedding nearly five years ago. We moved out of state several years ago, so my visitation frequency diminished, but I do know that Mamie's cupcakes have been featured on various food channels and competitions. With good reason. Cute little shop on the square. We stopped by around lunch on a Wednesday. The selection was really limited by the time we arrived, so not sure what days are best. We ended up getting 6 cupcakes to go. I got the cookie dough, cheesecake, and lemon raspberry. All were soft. The icing was flavorful on them all without being overwhelmingly sweet. My fav by far was the lemon raspberry. It was so flavorful with just the right amount of lemon flavor. The other two flavors were still yummy cupcakes, but other than the toppings, the cupcakes seemed to just be plain. Still nice, though. I spoke with Lindsey and she provided her email address so I could detail what I wanted. This is a good place to stop by if you're at the Square, whether you want dessert after eating at one of the Square's restaurants, just stopping by for a snack, or picking up cupcakes to-go. These are gourmet cupcakes, among the best and most decadent I've tried so far in Atlanta, and they come at a premium. Cupcakes are $3 each. Buy 5 and get 1 free. Made-to-order jumbo cupcakes are $10 and a dozen mini cupcakes are $12 (up to 2 flavors, also made-to-order). You can also get custom cupcakes and regular cakes. For regular cakes: 6-inch cakes are $50, 8-inch cakes are $75, and custom cakes are $100, though you should call for current pricing. They're all delicious. I couldn't really taste the alcohol, if any, in the Guinness cupcake. It was pretty sweet and chocolatey. The S'more cupcake looks and tastes amazing. It's a chocolate cupcake topped with a marshmallow filling, chocolate buttercream, a mini graham cracker, and a mini chocolate Hershey bar. It's easily one of the most beautifully presented cupcakes I've seen. If you're ordering cupcakes for someone, you should get this one for the "wow" factor. The Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake is a good, all-around cupcake. It's a chocolate cupcake topped with peanut butter buttercream and drizzled in melted chocolate. Very rich and super sweet. It should fill anyone's sweet tooth. The Turtle is a great flavor to get. It's a chocolate cupcake topped with caramel buttercream, pecans, and chocolate and caramel syrup. The Strawberry cupcake has real strawberry on top. I'm not a huge fan of the Coconut Lemon (taste/texture) or Chai (bitterness), but that's just me. The staff is friendly and helpful. If you order cupcakes to-go, they are placed in sturdy, snap-lock plastic containers. They have containers for single cupcakes and containers for half-dozen cupcakes. If you "dine-in," they serve the cupcakes on these cutesy saucers. This whole place reminds me of a little girl's tea room or doll house... or something. The table cloths have floral patterns and each table has flowers as the centerpiece. Yes, it's very much a girly place. Free parking is available directly on the Square. If you can't find any there, free street parking is available on surrounding streets or you can park in some of the free lots. My favorite is the one near the intersection of North Marietta Parkway and Mill Street. read more

I liked the look for the S'mores cupcake. The melted marshmallow and the Hersey's bar on top made it look extra delicious. I tried their Guinness Cupcake. The woman at the counter said it's one of their popular flavors. It comes with a Guinness flavored cake, topped with cream cheese spread, and sprinkled with chocolate chips. It tasted good. I didn't think they were moist enough though. I could tell some parts of the cake were dry. In the end, I liked it. Sure the cupcakes weren't perfect, but it was good enough. He was right, not much tartness to it but a light creamy texture, genuine banana taste, good crust, and perfect amount of sweetness. My girlfriend got the berries tart, and I enjoyed that one as well. I was impressed that these two similar pastries tasted pretty different from one another. Hers definitely had some tart thanks to the berries, but it was still sweet and easy to eat. I would definitely come back here to sample their cupcakes. I ordered a mermaid cake here for my daughter's birthday and to say she was thrilled would be an understatement. They also customized the cake for me, making a brown mermaid (because representation matters). I didn't eat any of the cake, because Keto, but all of my guests said that not only was the cake lovely, but it was also delicious. I got soooooo many compliments on this cake that I just felt like a winner. I'm pretty sure someone I know will soon be making the haul to Marietta to order a cake from here. Also, ordering was easy. I emailed my custom request before ordering and then placed my order online. The combination of flavors that you can get at Miss Mamie's, I am sure you cant get that anywhere else. So a few years ago I tried a couple varieties (I think one was waffle flavored) and they were all pretty dry and had a shockingly sweet chalky frosting. Always willing to give sweets another try, I recently came and had a Guinness cupcake, and my am I glad I did. My daughter's girl scout troop had a party at Miss Mamie's. It was ADORABLE! The girls learned to make fondant flowers, and leaves using cookie cutters and a textuing device for the leaves. Each girl was also given white frosting and a choice of color. I believe they were given two cupcakes, one chocolate and one yellow. I wish there had been a way to share the colored fondant besides tearing off a bit and passing it -- you know how kids lick their fingers while handling food, but other than that it was very clean and sanitary. The girls were also given adorable little glasses to sip apple juice from. It was a sweet touch. As for their selection of cupcakes, they had many interesting flavors -- sweet potato, red velvet, guiness (which they were OUT of!). I ate a GLUTEN free chocolate cupcake with chocolate frosting. I thought it was amazing, especially considering it was gluten free, and my experience with gluten free in the past has not been delectable! But these were fabulous! Well today we went to grab some cupcakes and on arrival the young lady came out from the back. She did not have a mask on and my mother asked her if she could put one on. She said "no I'm not" then proceeded to serve the cupcakes. The only reason we didn't walk out is because my dad (birthday) really wanted them. I would give zero stars if I could. My fiance and I ordered a cake for our wedding from here months in advance and paid in full. I had one special request to surprise my fiance to have the silhouette of mystery science theater 3000 on the back side of the cake as he not only loves the show but is a writer on the Netflix relaunch. Well, about a month prior to the event I sent the owner an email to confirm the she had the silhouette and everything was good to go. After a week of no response I called. She then assured Me that she had the request and it was good to go. Well, to my dismay as my now husband and I walk to the rear of the table I kept my eyes on him to see his response and there wasn't one. The silhouette wasn't there. Nothing. I was almost in tears. Now, I sent the owner an email about the mess up on Sunday and how upset I was and it is now Tuesday and I haven't heard back. If you want personalized care or even basic prompt response, this is not the place to go. Also, the cake did taste great, but is was crooked too. That would have easily been overlooked.
