My pedicure was good. I paid for the top level with a massage. Can't call it a good massage. My feet did feel moisturized. My toenails were superbly done and lasted. I don't plan to return. The biggest complaint is how difficult they make it to tip the professional. For those of us who rely on cards for everything and never have cash this is a bad place to go. You have to have venmo or some other app I've never even heard of, both of which I do not use and refuse to use. I had to make a run to the bank to give my girl a tip.. I don't like that. Not at all. And then the worst part was telling me they couldn't break my 20. Excuse me? I about half fi have shit and they finallt broke my 20. $40 for a tip was too much. 30 was a little much but I paid it, Because even if the massage was subpar she did it very nice job with summerizing my feet. read more

She also quite fast, under an hour, which was a nice surprise as I have long hair. I'd return to see Alena. Four stars because the salon feels tired and the vibe feels like a cave. Last time I was visiting Tucson, the weather was terrible all week so I decided to treat myself to a spa day. I started the afternoon with a massage from Marisabel, and she was amazing! I recommend her if you are wanting a muscle relaxing experience. She used a little harder pressure which is A-OK with me. Marisabel was able to get all of the tension out. The bed was warm, the music was calming; I almost fell asleep I was so relaxed. After my massage I had a facial. During the facial they gave me another mini hand, foot, and neck message! Needless to say afterwards I was thoroughly noodlesque. The next time I am in town and have some spare time I will be back to request Marisol. read more

Hit or miss, I met with one of their colorist for a balayage and she did a decent job. But in her absence, she recommended me to another one whom ruined my hair. She took over 5 hours for a job normally done in 3 and I heard an oops when she opened foils of my hair. She had to tone my hair for the second time and the result was a total mess. I am very disappointed. I Expected a little morprofessionalism not to send customer out with an awful job done. Toss a coin and hope for the best. Jenn did such an amazing job! My hair feels so much healthier, softer and more manageable. I haven't had my bang cut this good that is falls just right in many years. She was able to fix my color so it isn't orange/brassy like it had been. I got my hair done a few days ago at GADABOUT and what a disaster..... I asked for my hair to be brightened up slighty as my current highlights looked a little dull and I explained i wanted a full head of fine highlights (now to me that means i still want to see my natural colour with a full head of scattered highlights which is what I have always gotten for the past 10 years) Well what I ended up with is what looks like a FULL HAIR COLOUR not highlights at all, that looks bleach blonde like a barbie doll... BUT I have roots showing at the top and the odd brown patch at the back of my head... I cant even tie my hair up as it looks patchy :/ i have to say this is the WORST colour I have ever HAD... my hair is even broken and feels like hay it is most certainly damaged from this experience! The hairdresser told me that is what she understood full highlights are.... ummm so i questioned myself and perhaps the way I asked for my hair to be done I thought i was specfic but im human so is she maybe there was a breakdown in communication but when i googled the deination of full head highlights this is what it says Full highlights - scattered lights throughout the whole scalp area. Most hairdressers would take 1hr 15min to 1hr 30min for this type of application. The last time I was here was 8 months ago. The customer service was super friendly. The place is pretty and clean and has a nice ambiance. I originally gave this place 5 stars. After a gradual onset of problems, I have since realized that the last time I was here my hair was over processed. I am now growing out a new crop of 2-inch hair. I've seen several stylists and have had to go back in to get it fixed twice now because they just can't do it. I was just in getting it fixed again and she was working on me and another girl at the same time so it took twice as long. She also never styled my hair she just blow drys it and says I'm don. It's so over priced and you'll never be fully happy with it. I have also tried a few products and they are just a scam. Overpriced again and they don't work at all. After not touching my hair for a few years i decided to try this salon out to start the process of going lighter. I've been blonde before so i know you're not going to get as light as you want the first time around. But i wasn't trying to go platinum, just honey like. But the lack of communication from the stylist made it to where i wouldn't come back and would not recommend. I was told that "foils" would be around $125 and any additional color needed would be extra. I was not given a choice or made aware that they were adding additional services so my assumed bill of $150 ended up being over $300 !!!! On top of the cost shock, i was told when given an inspo pic that it was for sure achievable. Once my service was ended i was given reasons why she chose different. So i ended up with uneven tones and harsh lines. Had that been communicated with me that it was in fact not achievable, i may have went a different route. I absolutely hate my hair and can't fix it for another two months. Never again. read more

This is the second time I've come to Gadabout and I can't imagine going anywhere else now! First for a facial over a year ago and today for a haircut. I was lucky enough to get in same day! The people at the front desk are welcoming and polite and offered me a beverage as soon as I checked in and while I sat waiting. The haircut experience was terrific, complete with wash and style. I have to say at first I was disapproved of a chain but after visiting this place I can totally see why. The prices aren't any cheaper but the training is way better and the stylists keep up to date with the latest trends. I called and asked for a bayalage and the receptionist asked me how long my hair was as well as the colors I wanted in it. Which was very good to do so they know the amount of time to book. I was then called the day of my appointment and asked to come in sooner. That left me with this as the end result. See my photo. I showed Wendy a Pinterest of my bayalage and she was very professional. She went over the cost ahead of time and explained what she was going to do. The only thing I found odd was that the interns who precept for 2 years washed my hair and toned it. Overall though they have a lot of products to choose from as well as offer multiple services to include nails, massage and more. They serve coffee, water and snacks while you wait to process. However when it comes to hair cuts the story is different. When they have someone else wash your hair you're sitting waiting with mopping wet hair for your hairdresser to style you and cut your hair for about 10 minutes. I haven't been feeling the prettiest these past few days, due to me being sick with a chest cold. However, when I look in the mirror, my hair still looks AMAZING!! You know how? By having the best hair stylist in the world! His name is Miguel and I fell into his arms 3 years ago! I had just moved from the East side of Tucson to the Northwest side and I was in dire need of some highlights. I was going out of town and needed to get my hair touched up ASAP, before I left. I called Gadabout on Oracle and they said that there surprisingly was an opening with a guy name Miguel. I thought to myself "A guy? Miguel?". I have always had a woman as my hair stylist, but whatever, it needed to be done. So I went! THANK GOD I DID! From day 1, he's been kind, professional, funny, caring, realistic (I just want to be Jennifer Aniston sometimes...), a great listener, confident and an all around great person. I got good vibes from the moment I sat in his chair and he accepted me, as the goofy person I am. I can be an emotional roller coaster at times, and lets face it, we all start to vent as soon as we sit down! It took me a while for the thought to pop into my head "I wonder how many stories, bad and good, Miguel has heard today?" So many people talk about their PERSONAL lives to him, and not once has he ever made me feel, like my time there, wasn't all about me. Ever notice that? Your hair is his canvas! Sometimes, I have an idea of what I want, and other times, I just let him do whats in style or what he thinks will look good on me! He hits the nail on the head every time. He's just so talented! I will post some pictures (if I can figure it out). I would refer Miguel to anyone. I also attended a wedding where he did the bride/bridesmaids hair and they all looked stunning! I love Gadabout and have been going to the same location for about 20 years. The stylists are amazing! I've been fortunate enough to be clients of Rene and Yvette-both incredible stylists. Due to a specific design/color request I had, I was sent to Christina. Again, she did exactly what I asked! The main reason I can't rate it 5 stars is because although I've been going there for 20 years, the front desk staff have yet to remember me, perhaps not by name, but even as a return customer- every 5-6 weeks for almost 20 years. Any problems or mistakes I've had at Gadabout have been through scheduling mistakes by the front desk staff. Although there've only been about a half dozen mistakes, again for me, this is where the problems have been. I love Gadabout and give gift certificates to family. Highly recommend! read more

My daughter scheduled appointments for both of us for Friday, 4/2, on-line. She got a confirmation email so we thought we were good to go, but when we got there we found out they canceled both appointments. They said they tried calling my daughter but they had her old phone number and not the old one. They thought the two appointments were a mistake so they canceled them both. They obviously had her email address because that's how they confirmed the appointment in the first place. She did apologize but we were not happy. It was going to be my first hair cut since before the pandemic so I was really looking forward to it. You'd think they'd do more than just an apology. They had all week to contact her. She kept conversation the entire time and really tried to get to know me and made me laugh the entire time. As always Vanessa was great for my eyebrows wax. After my review I was contacted by the manager, Jennifer, she was so sweet and invited me back to try another senior stylist, Lauri. I'm so happy I went in, Lauri and her assistant (I can't remember her name :/ ) were top notch. Lauri was the first stylist who really pushed me to be honest with her, it was refreshing. The treatment and scalp massage were just what the doctor ordered on my lunch break and the blowout was amazing!! My hair was silky smooth :) Why four stars? Front desk staff was still iffy. The lady who checked me in wasn't very friendly, I watched her interactions with clients and it was the same behavior, unfortunate because she's the first person your client sees. When I went to check out, I was charged 50% more than usual. The girl at the checkout said that the tech told her to charge this, "since they were 'back fills.'" Gadabout has nice spas, generally speaking, and this is my first really bad experience with them. But $65 for a mediocre nail fill is pretty pricey. Surprise charges are really tacky. read more

I tried to book for my wedding but she wasn't available and recommended Christina- ok. I tried a cut and up do. Didn't love it. Last minute, I get a call saying Christina WONT be available the day of my wedding because she's at a conference. The salon left me a message and recommended Miguel. He was good, but didn't let me speak my mind with what I wanted on my wedding day. My front bang area turned out flat but the back of the hairstyle was cute enough. Overall a major debacle and cost me money to keep trying up dos. On the bright side, they were accommodating of scheduling my entire bridal party (6 girls) on the morning of my wedding and the girls had fun. However this past weekend I visited the Gadabout on River and Yvette did an awesome job! It had been a while since my last not-so-great cut, my hair is fine to begin with, and so so dry here in the desert. After my visit, it's healthy and looks much thicker...best part is it looks just as good when I style it at home! And it even takes less time...a double win! I've got very curly, thick hair and finding a stylist who knows how to handle it correctly has been a life long journey. I asked around on Facebook and checked reviews, finding that Gadabout was tops with most folks - so I made an appointment with Wendy...and crossed my fingers. The first good sign was how busy the place way. I greeted warmly, offered something to drink and took a seat. I didn't have to wait long at all. Wendy took the time to talk with me about what problems I had and what I wanted. She was very professional and charming. End result? In my mind, a perfect cut that took care of the immediate problems as well as tips and advice to keep my hair looking top notch. I'm hooked and will DEFINITELY be going back. It's wonderful to find a salon that is not overpriced and provides excellent service. Since moving to Tucson I'd been having my hair cut at any of the hundreds of "discount" salons that seem to inhabit every corner. No matter how simple the cut (I'm a guy... it's not that hard!) the "stylists" at these discount salons just couldn't manage to make my hair look decent. It was forever too short in the wrong places or they left me with cowlicks and sent me out looking like Alfalfa in the Little Rascals. It was horrible. I finally found Gadabout thanks to a neighbor and made an appointment. My stylist is Anise and she does a beautiful job. In my first appointment I gave her a free hand to see what she managed. The style she did was a wonderful short razor cut that was both stylish and businesslike. I was thoroughly pleased and the $35 price tag was not outrageous. With that said, the on-line services listed say that you are entitled to a pre-style neck massage and hot towel treatment. I received neither of those services during my visit. I will say that the wait was very short for my appointment, less than 5 minutes and Anise took a good deal of time consulting with me about the style and what I wanted. Christina is the BEST! She listens to what I want and helps guide me based on what is actually achievable without completely ruining my hair. For our second appointment, she went in a direction that delivered amazing results. We bleached the lower 2/3rds of my hair and then toned it to a beautiful caramel color that looks AMAZING. Not only is she good at coloring, she's also a great person to chat with! Very kind, funny and savvy. Overall experience is pleasant. It's a busy salon so it's not quiet, it's always bustling with stylists and clients chatting. There's water and coffee and plenty of magazines to keep you busy while waiting for your stylist. Though, I've never had to wait more than 5 mins. The Hair Washing Station is EVERYTHING! The lights are dimmed and there is a wall blocking most of the noise from the salon floor. There is also a TV showing waves washing over sandy beaches, very relaxing. I just melt in that chair. Christina's assistant is amazing at what she does, taking the time to massage all the way around your head, temples, base of the neck, forehead (I'm getting tingles just thinking about it). If I could afford it I would be going there for regular hair washing (srsly, it's that good). First appointment: Two colors (ombre), cut, wash, blow out after tax and tip was $115. Second appointment: Bleach, tone, wash and blow out, and two Sebastian products after tax and tip was $106. I made another appointment 6 weeks out. This is my top choice for massages here in Tucson! The minute I walk in, I'm greeted by friendly staff who always seem happy to be at work and super pleasant. The spa water is an absolute treat and, since I'm always there for a massage, they work quickly to take me back to get changed and then sit and rest and relax in the back spa area. The music they pipe in is pleasant and does an amazing job of unwinding me and getting me in the right frame of mind for my massage. I see Noel every 6-8 weeks (depending on funds!) for the full massage and she is amazing. I always go for the signature, but Noel borders on deep tissue. However, she's always quick to listen if I tell her she's hit a rough spot or it's painful for some reason. Noel seems to truly enjoy her job and making people feel comfortable and relaxed. She never rushes you which you'll appreciate when you try to stand up after 50 minutes on the table! She's always quick to bring me a glass of water when we've finished the session and eager to answer any questions I have. Terry is great for eyebrows. She takes her time and is so friendly. She is also a massage therapist and I'm going to try her out in the future. I just had my hair cut and highlighted today by Dulce (who trained with Maritza). She makes sure to listen to exactly what you want and unlike some hair stylists I've had in my past she actually sticks to what you want. My cut is perfect and the blonde highlights looks so natural. She used a lo-lite and two shades of blonde just like I requested. She also made some great recommendations for products and styling tools without being pushy. I also found the prices to be really affordable but then again I'm used to Los Angeles prices. I'll definitely be returning to Gadabout. read more
