Terry is great for eyebrows. She takes her time and is so friendly. She is also a massage therapist and I'm going to try her out in the future. I just had my hair cut and highlighted today by Dulce (who trained with Maritza). She makes sure to listen to exactly what you want and unlike some hair stylists I've had in my past she actually sticks to what you want. My cut is perfect and the blonde highlights looks so natural. She used a lo-lite and two shades of blonde just like I requested. She also made some great recommendations for products and styling tools without being pushy. I also found the prices to be really affordable but then again I'm used to Los Angeles prices. I'll definitely be returning to Gadabout. read more

I've been going to Gadabout for almost ten years and have never had a complaint. Top of the line services, products and service every time. I've only gotten salon services once (all over hair color to correct that box of drugstore stuff that seemed like a good idea at the time) and it was fantastic. The spa services, however, I've had regularly. You are greeted the minute you walk in, and your wait is never long- coffee and spa water (water flavored with fresh fruit or cucumbers- yum!) are available as well. For waxing, you get your own private room with a relaxing ambience and soothing music (y'all know this is WAY better than going to some sketchy back room of a nail salon). Massages are amazing- Noel is really talented and just great at listening to you and responding to your body feedback. The spa also carries the Skin Authority skincare line: glycolic acid-based products that really work. My wife has been going to Gadabout for years with good results. Over the past month she had been in four times to have her hair colored. The last time in she was still looking for the color to match what she wanted initially when the stylist bleached her hair out TWICE in one sitting. The result was a burning, itching scalp with blisters and a trip to Urgent Care. A week later she is still uncomfortable. The last time she communicated with the salon, she was asked to come in for a "consult" to determine what went wrong. The only consult that was necessary was provided in Urgent Care by a medical professional where she received a cortisone injection and a prescription for a topical spray to relieve the pain and itching. I had an appointment today at 9 am with Isabella. I haven't been to Gadabout in years but I had a gift certificate. Isabella was recommended by a friend of mine, so I made an appt for highlights. I was greeted warmly and friendly by the receptionist, who offered me something to drink. I then had a seat and waited for Isabella. I was early, and she came over promptly at 9. Big smile and welcoming :) When I got to the chair, we discussed what I wanted. I informed her that I had gone dark 9 months ago, and have been trying to get back to a blonde bombshell :). She asked me all the right questions, what my goals were for my color, if I had pictures of when I was blonde, and how many times had I been colored dark (something I would have never thought of). She foiled me, sat me under the dryer and offered me something to drink. As I sat there I thought, "I wonder if she has anyone after me, I could really use a haircut." I asked her, she did have a client but had plenty of time for my cut. I was bartending a wedding tonight, so this worked out perfect. Again with the cut, she asked all the right questions. What side do I part, what my goals are (maybe growing it out) and any other specifics I like or dislike in a cut. I told her what I was looking for, and how I love to tease my hair-big is better. I Love this place, I've been going for Many years, ever since I moved here about 14 years ago. Everyone is very friendly and Sweet. Alot of Hairdressers and alot of clients who come back week after week, year after year. Very Clean place and its alot of fun to see all the different styles on Women & Men. They have a big selection of magazines to look at for ideas and other magazines to just read while your waiting. I've had my hair cut twice at Gadabout on River...both times a bad experience. The first time was 2 years ago. I had long hair and had some lowlights put in. My hair never recovered. It was stiff and I could barely brush it out after washing. I had it all cut off into a bob. Loved my bob...done at a $15 haircut place. So I decide to try again a couple of weeks ago because I have other services there, I love...eyelashes! I tell the stylist keep it one length, not longer in the front and NO layers. She cut it longer in the front and layered it. I can't straighten it now because the layers show and are horrible. (I think she was trying to texturize it but it is LAYERED). The shortest layer is just below my ear so it's going to take months to grow out. I'll never trust Gadabout to cut my hair again!!! read more

Nay. For the prices they charge, they run the place like a factory. Your hairstylist is handling 3 clients at one time. They tend to run behind all the time, it shouldn't take hours to get your hair done. They also tend to stick you over a sink when they are running behind and say they're giving you a complimentary hair treatment. I don't want a complimentary hair treatment, I want a stylist who is doing MY hair, not juggling a bunch of clients at once. read more

This place is loud, overpriced, crowded, and generally horrible. I came in to the Speedway location for a lip wax (I live out of town, so couldn't go to my usual place). The desk staff was rude and short with me, and people were shouting back and forth. Total chaos--not what you want in a spa. The lip waxer, Danielle, was also rude, trying to push products on me that I said I didn't want. Like this: Her: Okay, I'm going to clean up your eyebrows, too. Me: No thanks. I've been growing them out, because I'm getting married on Saturday and I want them fuller. It took about a year to do it, and I'm happy with the shape. Her: Are you sure? Me: Yes. Her: Let's just tweeze them a little. Me: No. Thanks. (Lip wax) Her: Okay, I'm going to put neosporin on your lip. Me: Oh, no thanks. I always follow lip waxes with a little aloe, and that works for me. Her: But it's really GOOD neosporin. It's new. Me: No thanks. I'm getting married in three days, so I'm not trying any new products right now. Her: But it will REALLY HELP with your lip. Me: No. Thanks. OFMG. No means no. And also, there's no reason to treat me like I'm stupid just because I like my eyebrows full and don't want Neosporin on my lip. This place was such a disaster I canceled our mani/pedi appointments the next day. GO ELSEWHERE. Also, their wedding hair services are heinously overpriced. Went to the St. David's location, for a gel refill and pedi. Nice girl but horrible gel refill. I have recently moved to Tucson and was looking for a good place to continue my gel refills an d pedi. Was willing to pay the outrageous amount, won't go back again. Girl was horrible putting polish on, trimming the cuticles. Pedi was no better. I will find a place with the Asian girls and cheaper prices. read more

This place was a disappointment. The front desk staff ignored me after I checked-in. The ambiance was noisy and the place smelled of hair products/perms. My massage was okay but not great. My daughter liked her hairdresser but I could not believe the price -- $85 -- and all she got was a cut and a shampoo. BEWARE. After talking to a few other parents, I've learned that Gadabout often does a "bait and switch". You think you're getting a $65 service and it suddenly becomes $85 because they claim they gave you a "better" massuer or they claim that they used more expensive products on your face or hair. Compared to Spa One, Gadabout is way overpriced and the services aren't even as good. -RT read more

I haven't lived in Tucson long and decided to grow out my swing bob because it took me so long in the last state I lived to find someone to cut my hair right. it's very thick, I have to get it thinned every two weeks and it's wavy but worn straight. I was referred to Gadabout by a co worker and decided why not, i can't handle growing this out. When I arrived the women at the front desk were very nice and checked me in quickly. My stylist, Coco, called me back rather quickly. I was at the Sunrise location. Coco was very sweet and listened to my concerns from the bad hair cuts i had in the past. She seemed to know completely what my hair needed. She cut about 10 percent of my hair wet, then dried it completely and cut the 90% of the haircut. This is very important to do with my texture of hair. Also, she went longer on the length to ensure we didn't cut it too short right away. After the cut was complete and I saw the back, I realized this was the best hair cut of my life!! Hands down the best!!! I highly recommend this salon and Coco as a stylist. read more

I've been a Gadabout customer for many many years. I get my hair done with Brett and she is the best and never disappoints. I needed to find a new nail person so I thought I would try them out (same location- River Rd). My appointment was with Hannah. This was the worst experience I have ever had. From the minute she started I knew she didn't know what she was doing but gave her the benefit of the doubt and allowed her to continue. My gel pedi was so caked on that when I got home ( 30 minute drive) I took off my shoes and the gel was like clay everywhere but on my toes. I was so upset,called them, drove back spoke with management and they had me see RJ for a redo. RJ was awesome and apologized for Hannah. Meanwhile Hannah never bothered to apologize nor acknowledge what she had done. Hannah has poor customer service skills and should not be working for Gadabout. I was refunded and got the tip that I left for Hannah and gave to RJ. I do not recommend Hannah she's the worst! Managements customer service was excellent. I will continue to see RJ for mani and pedi. read more

I was able to squeeze into a last minute appointment thanks to the attentive employee who noticed a small hole in a schedule and called me back to schedule me. Renee at the River/ Campbell location did a great job with my hair, having another stylist help blow dry my hair in order to move the appointment along a little faster. She did exactly what I asked for and was personable and gave some suggestions for a future hair style change. I made an appointment for 2:15 and was not told the stylist was running late at that time. After waiting for 25 minutes I was politely told the stylist was running late. That young lady was nice which is why I gave two stars instead of one. After waiting yet another 15 minutes and no stylist in sight, I went up to the front desk to tell them I could not wait any longer. They appeared to be scrambling to see if someone else could take me but didn't say that. I repeated that I had to go and walked out. No apology or anything. Don't make an appointment for someone if you can't accommodate them. UPDATE Although I was greatly disappointed that I could not get my hair done, I want to give kudos to this salon's customer service. I received a call from a very nice lady at the salon (sorry I can't remember her name) who apologized in the name of the salon and the stylist and offered to do my hair on another day at no cost. Unfortunately I am leaving town tomorrow so I can't take them up on the offer, but I am very appreciative that they reached out and made the offer. Now that's customer service! read more

So I checked it out and had a great experience with a girl named Reyna (spelling might be off?). She was super nice and did everything just how I had asked! I have been seeing her ever since, and then somehow I had an appointment with someone new and she was HORRIBLE! I asked for my hair to be lighter and it ended up darker. I have been going to Gadabout for over 17 years. I have never been disappointed! The staff is friendly and welcoming and I have always found the stylists to be professional and excellent. Stylist Kris Legate at the St. Philip's location has been cutting/coloring/highlighting my hair for 17 years and I couldn't be happier. Deirdre does my facials at the Sunrise and Kolb location (closer to my house) and is the best! My skin has never looked better. Mary at that location does my manis (shellac) and pedis and I can't say enough good things about her. I moved to Tucson from southern Connecticut and was used to much higher prices for beauty services; the prices at Gadabout were a pleasant surprise. Unlike some of the other spas in the Foothills, no one at Gadabout tries to sell me expensive "product." Three cheers and five stars for Gadabout! read more

YIKES, i'm new to tucson and thought this place could handle a fairly simple highlight touch up. after all it's only been 3 wks since i had my hair done by my girl back home, how hard could it be? just follow EXACTLY what she did i said to the guy. well, thanks for the nasty chunky yellow highlights i didn't have, i certainly didn't want and i wouldn't in a million years ask for. i know i said i wanted natural, very thin highlights exactly like the ones i already had but for some reason this guy needed to "update" my look. his words. hmmm....i know i didn't want my look "updated"...especially since it includes YELLOW hair and oh yeah, you missed the freaking roots buddy!!! because you did lazy ass big chunks instead of the small pieces like i asked for. how hard could it be?? instead of paying attention to my hair he wanted to tell me his life story. shut up and do hair and listen to what the clients ask for!! uh, the whole experience was just disgusting. i can't believe people actually think this is a "nice" salon! read more

Got my facial done here, and skin specialist recommend me their product. It's a gel hydrated cream, cleanser and their make up remover pads. I bought them all. I have try to used them for couple weeks and I have this burn on my face and itchy all over my hands, its probably Alergic reaction. But I won't used their product anymore:( I'm very disappointed. I would love to get my refund back and return their product for sure. read more

Gadabout is the place to go for salon services - it's a stylish and trendy place but you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to get a great haircut there. They keep up with current trends and styles and are active in the community. Rene is the best hair stylist I've ever had. She's great with straight hair, and a wonderful person too. I don't do color but that's her specialty. And Gadabout give free bang trims! Just walk in and if your stylist isn't available, someone else will trim you up and send you on your way. read more
